Here is an extremely rare circa 1780 Bilston enamel bonbonniere of a red and white King Charles on a pink cushion. The bottom is painted with a lovely spray of flowers. The approximate dimensions are slightly over 2 inches by 2 inches and almost 1 and 1/2 inches tall. To my knowledge it is in excellent unrepaired condition. There is the tiniest of hairline cracks on the inside lid but you cant even feel it with your fingernail. This is a rare Battersea Bilston patch box inscribed“ A Present from the Iron Bridge” The Iron Bridge in Shropshire England was the first arch bridge made from cast iron. Wonderful larger etui or necessaire. Approx. 5" long by 1" wide. Primarily white enamel with white raised dots design. Features purple countryside scenes and scenes of ruins in cartouches around the body of the piece. The raised scrolls outlining each scene are highlighted in gold paint. Inside. Most of the original paper is still present to help hold the top onto the base. The interior is a bluish tinted enamel inside the top portion, and I have not attempted to delve or clean the interior of the base in order not to damage or alter the paper previously mentioned. As so often found with these items. There is damage to the enamel focused around the ends. The top has crazing and cracking with a small piece of enamel out, and one of the dots leveled. The base has the same crazing and cracking extending into one of the scenes slightly. ... moreThere is a larger area of enamel missing on the bottom edge. Around the base of the metal center band, the enamel is wavy and doesn't always extend completely to the metal. Antique Battersea Bilston Enamel Pill Box, Snuff Box, Hot Air Balloon Scene
Late 18th or early 19th century Bilston. Battersea enameled pill or snuff box with a hot air ballooning scene on the top The box is in good shape overall with some cracking to the enamel on the bottom edges. The cover does not close down completely. The hot air balloon scene is hand painted in black on white porcelain ground with no damage which is surrounded by a metal frame& hinge with a pale yellow bottom. The inside is enameled in white which has some discoloration and some rough edges where the enamel meets the metal frame. There may have been some restoration to it. Nice patch box. The painted writing on the lid quite faded. But reads"Esteem the Giver" The mirror on the inside is in great condition, one piece, no cracks, but has developed some darkness at the very edges of the mirror. Nice little patch box. Hinge is in great condition. Works just fine. The clasp at the opening is a sweet little bow. I believe the clasp and metal border to be silver, as is common for these boxes. Antique Round Bilston Battersea Enamel Snuff Box Tavern Scene Floral Circa 1750 Description You are bidding on an antique Bilston Battersea round enamel snuffbox circa 1750. The snuffbox measures right at 2 inches in diameter by 1 inch in height. It has a hand-painted tavern scene to the top featuring two gentlemen in 18th-century dress drinking and smoking. The box has bowed out oval panels on four sides which feature colorful yellow and violet flowers set against a white background. The interior is gold gilt and it retains much of the original gilding. The hinge is good. No problems opening and the lid fits tight. It is further accented by fancy white and gold lines between panels and to base. The top has a slight concave depression to it which is original to the box. Antique Battersea Bilston enamel pill/ patch box. Either very romantic or a death memorial. The Absent Not Forgotten" pictures an urn and weeping willows. The box is lidded with a pink base which is in very nice condition with light crazing. The top is sturdy, but does have craquelure. This Battersea box is in beautiful condition. Which is rather rare for these boxes when genuine 18th century. On the top, which is slightly domed. You can see a slight blending of color between the white and the blue. Which is a hallmark of a genuine Battersea box. There are no chips in the enamel, nor cracks on the exterior but for very faint hairlines on its bottomside; and only faint hairlines inside the box. The mirror is in great condition for its age. With only a few tiny spots of discoloration, plus around the mirror's edge. The box measures 1-1/2"Wx1-1/4"Dx1"H. The main color is a very rich cobalt blue. No restoration work done. The rims and hinge are undented and have their original patina. The box seems very sturdy. The hinge is firm and works well. Holds its position. I am offering a most wonderful little box. Bought many years ago from the antiques section of Halcyon Days in London. It's small, only an inch and a half long, an inch and a quarter wide, and three quarters of an inch tall. The top features a woman in an arbor; the colors are delicately, but brightly painted. The sides of the box are a ravishing, clear blue. The box is, I'm guessing, late eighteenth century, and is in astonishingly good shape for its age. As far as I can tell, there are no cracks or chips in the enamel. Even the mirror under the lid is in fantastic shape. A true gem for a collector!

Although this box has some damage as stated in description. It is still a work of art. The details and colors stand out, and the lid works great. Is has been inspected by a professional, and I have been told it dates to early 19th century. The scene depicts fisherman along a river, and has the mark of a wasp on inside of lid and bottom of box. Up for bid is an absolutely beautiful antique snuff box. It was looked at by a professional. And although it could be Battersea, it is most likely Bilston or South Staffordshire from the 1780's. It is meant to mimic a travel trunk, and o n the inside of the lid. There is intentional webbing(not cracks or crazing) with a note. On the outside of the lid there is a badge that says. Monsieur Vous plait il une prise. Saint Omer" This would be referring to St.Omer. Which is near Calais. Calais was a place many British folks visited. And most likely bought this as a souvenir. This wonderful early oval shape Battersea or Bilston patch box is dark blue in color and decorated with two white birds and The Gift of a Friend in gilt on the lid. It has a mirror inside the lid with a white interior. It dates from the 18th Century and measures approximately ¾ of an inch tall by 2 inches by 1 + ¼ inches. Rare Antique Georgian Battersea Bilston Enamel“Friendship” Snuff/Patch/Trinket Box. Late 18th C Made in England. Date is based on my research of similar styles. Script reads“Friendship Shall ever sacred be Between my worthy Friend& me. Pink enamel over copper base, white top/interior, mirrored lid, original patina metal trim with fully functioning hinge and front tiny finger knob to open/close. Measures 1 ⅝” wide, 1 ¼” deep, ⅞-1” high. Overall very nice condition for its age- mirror has foxing, typical wear to enamel base from use, a few enamel cracks(see photos) no deep/significant cracks or chips. Antique Battersea Bilston Tiny Enamel Box Keep This For My Sake
I found this sweet box in a tiny antique shop in a very tiny Texas town. I have owned it over 20 years so it's time for a new owner. This little box is cobalt blue and white enamel and reads Keep this for my sake on the lid. It is in good condition considering it is from the early 1800's. It measures about 1 3/8" wide and 3/4" tall.it's small but oh so precious. It has numerous glaze/finish pops and wear on the base. Hinge works just fine and there is a bit of give to the lid. Does not close tightly. It's a beauty and wonderful addition to any collection. Please look at all my photos and ask questions prior to bidding as all sales are final and as is.
