bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb This rare antique French(Marseille) faience Veuve Perrin enameled handled candy dish with lid/cover is finely painted in colored enamels with several flower bouquet sprays. With scattered similar flower bouquet sprays around the sides. The lid has an apple on top of it. Size: From tip of handle to handle 8 inches across and stands 4 inches high to the tip of the lid(the apple) Condition: Excellent for a piece of 18 th century faience. Museum quality. No chips, cracks or restoration. Some minor frits to glaze on the lip of the base and a tiny one on the rim of the lid(it can barely be seen, you really have to look for it) and no crazing. It still carries a brilliant shine to the finish. The V and P marking on the bottom of this tureen is of the 18 th century faience manufacturer Veuve Perrin in Marseilles. France. ... moreThe Perrin manufacturing company was founded by Claude Perrin. When he died in 1748. His wife Pierrette Candelot became head of the company. Under her leadership, the manufacturer became well known for superbly decorated faience items. The company’s painters were sent to French art academies to acquire elegance and perfection in their work. The mark on the bottoms of these items was the combined“VP” for“Veuve Perrin” which means“Perrin’s widow” The Veuve Perrin manufacturing company was closed in 1803. Eight years after Pierrette Candelot had died in 1793. The combined VP mark of Veuve Perrin was not standardized and exists in numerous variants. I have read the mark VP mark with a dot below the loop of the P is a sign of A DISTINGUISHED PRIVATE COLLECTION made to order and probably one of a kind. I have also been told this could be a reproduction. But nevertheless it still would be as valuable because it would have been reproduced during the same time period. 18th. Century English enamel snuff box. Probably battersea. This snuff box has three scenes please view photos as description. The scenes are transfer. Dimension of this box are height 1 1/4" width 2 1/2" depth 1 5/8" Condition of the box is good for its age. The hinge works fine and the lid closes tight. There is fracturing of the enamel. The only enamel loss is on the inside if the lid. The enamel is tight, there is only one area where there is a ridge between fractures this is on the top on the lower left hand side. Posted with

He is made with amazing character- please note his smile. And the teath in his mouth. About 12 3/4 inches long and 9 5/8" inches tall. Good condition as shown- tail has been restuck. Chip to one horn tip and one ear, and some original kiln firing cracks, which are typical of larger 18th Century Meissen animals. Someone is going to get an excellent deal here. 18th CENTURY VEUVE PERRIN FRENCH ENAMEL PATCH/PILL BOX CHINESE DESIGN c1780 A very nice Veuve Perrin(Marseille) enamel patch/pill box measuring 3 1/4" x 2" x 1 1/2" The box is decorated in polychrome colors and on the lid is depicted a Chinaman building a fence surrounded by flowers and foliage and with birds flying overhead. The front and rear sides are decorated with exotic birds and the ends with flowers. The box is in very good condition both internally and externally; there is some slight age wear to the base and a small crack in the enamel at the right hand end below the mounting(please see photo) Monogram'VP' mark to base. Date would be c 1780. Claude Perrin born in Nevers on 20th April1696 settled in Marseille in 1733 where he died on 25th March 1748. Pierette Candelot. 18th Century French Style Obelisk With Horses Ceramic Earthenware Porcelain
You are buying a beautiful and interesting decorative earthenware obelisk. It is over 18" tall and about 6" wide at its widest point. The colors. The painting, the horse heads just scream 18th Century Country French. French, French, French! Is it French? I don't honestly know for sure. I won't lie. But it sure looks French. There is no makers mark or stamp or label on the bottom. And the glazes have that look leading me to believe that it is significantly old. I could be wrong- you be the judge. It is really neat looking and well made. The last picture is of the obelisk sitting on my hutch so you can get a sense of the scale- it is quite large. Four horse heads sit atop the plinthe to support the shaft, and the piece has round ball feet. I have a acquired a collection of 6 different patch or snuff boxes. All are porcelain with metal fittings. Only one is dated. But they all appear to be from the same period. Please see my other listings for the rest. This one is rectangular and somewhat trunk shaped. It measures 1 5/8 inches by 1 1/4 inches by 1 3/8 inches tall. The top features a lyre with branches. Green leaf garlands go around the top and bottom sides. The inside of the lid says"Maitre de Chapelle" The inside of the bottom has 3 blue dots. The bottom is marked. English Battersea blue enamel Adam Snuff box, 18th century!
I bought this lovely snuff box in London in the 1970s. And it has been the glory of my collection: of course I love the Robert Adam style, and this has it all! It is absolutely period Battersea, from probably the 1770s. Garlands of leaves and flowers, a neoclassical paterae, and"The Gift of a Friend" on the lid. The interior mirror is intact, with the expected spotting of almost 250 years. The condition is excellent, with just the usual wear for such an old piece. The ground color is a gorgeous soft blue. Please note that the black marks on the bottom in the photos are the residue from an old sticker, I neglected to wash it off, plus I left the dealer's sticker on. It measures approx 1 3/4 inches across, and stands just shy of an inch high. I am downsizing and sold the vitrine my boxes lived in, so they must go, sadly. Antique Spalding Exercise "Indian" Clubs form late 18th Century
For sale is a pair of Spalding Indian Clubs. One is marked Spalding and both are marked 4 lbs. These clubs have never been refinished or repainted(thankfully) and maintain their nice patina. Please see the pictures. Notice the hand turned rings at the top of the clubs for better grip. Indian clubs of this type were used for exercise in the late 1800's and early 1900 hundreds. At 4 lbs these are not juggling or bowling. Until the 1920's. Club swinging contests were held in major cities.
