WAVE CREST Vintage Large Puffy Pillow Victorian era Dresser Box- 7.5" wide by almost 4" high Original interior lining in pristine condition. Belonged to my great grandmother- was stored in towels wrapped in a box for many years. This large glass dresser box is of light blue glass with cosmos flowers on top. Flowers are beautiful with raised hand painting. There is one crack on the top measuring a little over 1" long that doesn't cause concern- see the photos of the crack. Dresser box is signed Wave Crest with a lovely shell pattern and with hand painted delicate pink flowers- approximately 3.25" wide and 2.75" tall. Brass hinge. Trim and fastener are tight and in good condition. The brass has a brilliant shine which shows off the lovely detail in the brass design. The satin lining is original and in excellent condition- no rips. Tears or discoloration- beautifully pleated. No chips or cracks. Excellent condition. Beautiful. Co. New Bedford, Mass. and hand decorated with pastel lilac flowers and enamel flourishes by C.F. Monroe Co. Meriden, CT. The painted flowers are gorgeous with the title written in lavender paint highlighted over with gold. It measures 7" by 7" by around 6" tall. WAVE CREST COLLARS AND CUFFS BOX Excellent example of early Wave Crest ware(1800's) It is milk glass(opaque white) in a bubble-bumpy egg crate type glass. Attributed to Pairpont Manufacturing Company in Massachusetts, then decorated with ornate purplish blue and white flowers in glaze and enamel by the C. F. Monroe Company in CT. It is 6.5-7 inches square with an ormolu gold band and simple clasp. It stands approximately 6.5 inches high and weighs around 3.5 pounds. This one still has the silk lid liner, though age and dry rot have taken toll on the material, so it is most delicate. This will be wrapped and shipped by parcel post with insurance upon sale and payment via Paypal.

Monroe story is one of the many Cinderella stories of modern day collection. Until recently this fine glass was amazingly neglected: amazingly since it easily rivals similar articles produced by the Smith Brothers and Mt. Washington Pairpoint Glass Companies in nearby New Bedford. Massachusetts. However, while the demand and the prices began to rise for the various decorated Opal Ware articles produced by Mt. Washington and the Smith Brothers, comparable C.F. Monroe pieces often sat unnoticed on the shelves of many antique shops. All this ... moreirrevocably changed when Albert Christian Revi, author of nineteenth Century Glass, and other authors began to call collectors’ attention to the fine qualities of this lovely glassware. The fire of collector enthusiasm was ignited, and prices began a dramatic rise. Decorated Opal ware was at the height of its popularity from 1890 to 1910. And the C. F. Monroe Company was one of the largest producers of this type glass. Charles F. Monroe opened his shop first shop in 1880 in Meriden, Connecticut and he dealt primarily in imported glassware. By 1882, Monroe was operating his own glass-decorating studio, and was soon employing highly talented local artists as decorators. When the 1890′s arrived and the demand for finely decorated glass was its height, Monroe employed such fine artists as Carl V. Helmschmied, Walter Nilson, J.J.
