A very lovely little porcelain box. Assumed for snuff. Lid closes but has no latch, never did. Hand glazed details on the outside and inside. Old. Has not been polished or cleaned. I found this in Glendale, Arizona. The gentleman I purchased it from had just found it in a local estate sale. I've owned it about 8 months. Lovely little box. Bottom is unglazed. 1.2 ounces. The piece measures 7 1/2 inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide. the height is 2 3/4 inches. This is in very nice condition with one very tiny flaw. On a corner edge of the lid is a small surface fleck. Besides this there are no cracks, chips or other damages. The fleck is hardly noticeable when displayed since it is so small and the same color as the box. Florida beach estate from a collector who had all kinds of amazing old pieces. I fell in love with this pair because of the condition and the soothing Robin's egg blue color. FABULOUS! This wonderful antique porcelain set is hallmarked on the bottom dating it to between 1795 to 1801. Amazing condition for pieces so old. Not"perfect" but displays beautifully. Please use the photos as part of the description. As I want you to be happy with your purchase. The jewelry casket measures 3.5" long X 2.5" deep X 1.75" high. This hinged box is trimmed out in ornate solid bronze with a little heart closure which clasps ... moresnuggly. Beautifully detailed with a floral bouquet and 24K gold gilt. Very little gold loss as shown and one tiny dot on the bronze back by the hinge that may be a weld. A bit of the putty used to secure the bronze trim is slightly visible. Really didn't see either issue until I zoomed in. Excellent condition with only the faint natural blemishes that occur during the creation of hand crafted porcelain. Very charming"one of a kind" Overall. SUPERB! The little matching ring tray measures 3.5" long X 2.5" deep X.5" high. It has a lovely contoured edge. Very feminine! This tray has been lovingly used and shows wear on the gold trim and design(as you would expect with use and age) But no chips, cracks or crazing. Very lovely! These early snuff boxes are highly sought after, and are known in a variety of ... moredifferent shapes, sizes, materials and craftsmanship. This one is finely hand made porcelain over a copper base, and shows wonderful artisanship and craftsmanship, with good attention to detail. Most snuff boxes are a standard oval or rectangular shape. This fancy stylized shape is less common, and was more difficult to make and more expensive to purchase. This snuff box has a hand painted motif; and was obviously intended for a Love interest/ Friendship token for a Lady or Gentleman at the time.
