The lid is enameled with scenes of a young woman meeting another young woman and a young man in a garden. The inside of the lid shows the young woman seated at another location in the garden. The sides of the box show the young lady and young man seated in other parts of the garden. The underside of the box shows a delicate landscape scene of an English mansion with its surrounding lands in shades of gray. The box is hinged and the gilded mounts are exactly right for a 1700s English hinge. The box was made in the South Staffordshire region of England from 1770-1780. The box is in great shape for a 225 year old enamel box. The enamel does have ... moresome wear. As is typical of these pieces. The lower right corner of the lid and the lower left corner of the box is chipped, but these are minor and do not interfere with the beauty of the enameled scenes. There are some stress lines to the box's enamel, especially in the lid, which are better seen from the inside of the box. These are still quite stable. Description This is a covered vegetable or soup dish in the Clevedon pattern made by Ridgways at the Bedford Works pottery in Staffordshire. England, and more specifically Shelton. The dish is backmarked with the bow and quiver trademark and Royal Semi Porcelain above the bow/quiver. Then the pattern name- Clevedon and then England below the pattern name. This was the only Ridgway factory to use Royal Semi Porcelain as part of the pottery's mark. The Clevedon pattern is often seen in flow blue. But this is a version with soft pink flowers on brown vines and leaves. The bowl and lid are trimmed in gold. There are three small makers flaws- flea bites- inside the bowl on the bottom. Otherwise there are no chips. Cracks or apparent damage. Based on the backmark this covered dish dates to 1920 to 1952. The bowl is 8-1/4" square and 9-1/2" ... morelong from end of handle to end of handle. The lid is 7-3/4" square. The bowl is 3-1/4" tall and with the lid on the bowl. The Trinket Box was made by Thomas Allen and Spencer Green at the Minerva Works in Fenton. Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England between 1876 and 1889 and it has the appropriate Overglaze Red“TA&SG” Staffordshire Knot Mark on its Bottom and on the Inside of its Lid for this time period. this is a very old piece of Staffordshire. Thick and heavy, box with lid where the 2 dogs are resting, 3 1/4 inches tall, note there is a crack on the inside of the box that you can see in the pic, and on the very bottom there is a black line which appears to be a crack but might just be a defect when made, anyway it does not go through into the box, and is only on the surface. this fellow has a little damage but when you get as old as this one is, I suspect you will too. An antique fairing box from the 1800s. This came from a collection sold several years ago in Ohio. It measures 4.5" in height. About 2" deep and 2 3/4" wide; Excellent condition. I do not know if the mirror is original, you be the judge. Wear to the gilt trim. It is incised on the bottom. It features a wash bowl and pitcher sitting on a mirrored stand. But it may be Staffordshire. 496" is stamped on the bottom(which is in line with the Conta& Boehme mold number) There is a break to the foot of the child's doll(shown in pictures) I do not see any other chips or cracks. They no longer have metallic mirrors. Much missing paint. THESE ARE VERY OLD. AND SHOW IT! SEE PHOTOS. Item#1: Conta& Boehme#3655 marked lid(no box) Though it looks like it was dropped and repaired.several cracks.the good news is the sweet child& pet SURVIVED! kitten or puppy? Item#2: Staffordshire box(no lid) Yellowing/chipping on one side, some of the paint has worn off, winged gryffin figures on front corners. My uncle used the C&B lid with this, but it doesn't really fit or match. Item# 3& ... more4: Maker? white porcelain piano box. Most of the gold paint rubbed off. The lid fits, don't know if it's a set, depicts an open book on a dresser. Lid has missing item broken off, and a large chip behind it. 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" x 2" Item# 5& 6: Staffordshire? white porclain Queen's Crown. Sword& Sceptor lid, no chips, a little orange& gold paint remains. Box has a tiny hole in the porcelain that has brown discoloration around it. Pretty blue paint on the corners, most of the gold has rubbed off. No chips. Has numers/prices written on both pieces that don't wipe off with damp cloth. The lid& box seem to fit together, not sure if they're an original set. 4" x 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" Item#7& 8: Staffordshire? The smallest of the collection. This one also depicts the Queen's Crown. Sword& Sceptor on the lid, stamped"28" underneath. Box has no chips, retains quite a bit of gold paint.
