This dates at least to the 19th century and I believe earlier part rather than later. It has a gold wash interior/ lining. Condition is great with no obvious wear to the enamel or the fine gold highlights. Under very close inspection you can see the enamel on the lid edge has some fine bubbling and a little white discoloration as made and probably typical for this period. The gold is worn off the exposed metal area from years of use and there is some light wear to the interior gold. Otherwise fine. Overall as clean as you will ever see a box of this type. Antique Vanity Compac Mosaic Centr, Enamel, Beads Gold Dore Mirror & Puff FRANC
One Antique French Floral Mosaic& Enamel Gold Dore Compact Embellished w/ Pink Beads& twisted rope design forming a scalloped front This is one of the most uniquely designed and artistically created Vintage Powder Vanity Compacts I have seen. It has a detailed Mosaic design with multiple flowers in the center. And even the Mosaic stones of the leaves have been painted to create depth. All stones are in perfect order, as are the pink stones that are set around the scallop lid design. This is so well made that it's like a piece of fine jewelry! There are enamel motifs in light blue on the top of the compact case that form another creative design(some of the enamel has pin holes that are not very visible to the naked eye. But I increased the definition for full disclosure. The edge of the compact is beautifully banded by a double ... morerope design. It closes/opens well and the hinges are very good. It also has it's original powder puff which is also in very good condition. It has a lovely bevel scalloped mirror framed in a gold setting(mirror has some some fogging and minor age marks) The sides are embellished with detailed scrolls and flowers and the bottom also has a distinct design and is stamped MADE IN FRANCE. This Lovely Compact has a scallop like form that Measures 2-1/4" from the hinge to the front lip; and 2-1/2" from side to side. Thickness is about 5/8" closed. No cleaning has been done to this work of art by me. Except for a soft dry tooth brush to dust it. Please NOTE: Although the dark areas on the floral Mosaic may look like something is missing. It is actually leaf shaped stones that have a darker center. I checked everything with a jeweler's eye. Antique Limoges Style Hand Painted Porcelain Trinket Boxes w Gold Enamel No Chip
Here is a pair of antique/ vintage hand painted fine porcelain lidded trinket boxes with scalloped design and gold enamel detail and unique scroll work handles in Excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or dings. These are matching design and maker pair, one larger that's 4" in diam. and 3 3/4" tall and one smaller that is 3" in diam. and 3 1/4" tall. These are very detailed pieces and have great color. They are definitely old but there is no maker mark that I could find. The older Lamoges Style design and fine gold enamel detail remind me of older French or German Pieces, especially with the fluted edge on bottom of piece.
