Description: Antique 19th century Porcelaine de Paris hand painted snuff box. Made by the French porcelain factory of Marc Eugene Clauss(1868-1896) Beautifully decorated in a raspberry colored scale pattern. To the lid is a brightly colored bird framed by gold gilt accents. The base is modeled with a ribbed edge adorned with gilt foliage. Encircled by hinged gilt bronze mounts, further enhanced by a scrolling foliate motif. The box opens to reveal a gilded interior. Measures 2 1/8" length x 1 5/8" width x 1" tall. In very good antique condition. Marked with a pair of blue crossed swords between the letters E and C for Marc Eugene Clauss, grandson to the factory's founder Jean-Marie Clauss who took over the Porcelaine de Paris factory in 1820. Early 19th century boite a tabac by one of the various makers of what is known today as Paris Porcelain. It is a masterwork in its high relief bisque band of monkeys-a different scene on either side- which provides a sensous contrast with the glazed porcelain. It has incisions in the bottom. As is usual with this porcelain. Although it has some old repairs and cracks that are hardly noticeable, this piece looks remarkably impressive. It's a feast for the eyes. Wonderful gilt brass very fine detail. Nice working hinge. On the bottom handpainted in old Tuscan red MADE IN FRANCE. Very nice condition. Offered for sale is a fine porcelain box fashioned in the form of a couple lying in bed after the originals produced by Chantilly in the 18th century. This particular box was created by Edme Samson of Paris in the late 19th century early 20th century. It measures 3-1/2 inches by 2-1/4 inches and stands almost 2 inches tall. The lid features polychrome enamels of the couple in bed with a flowered bedcover. Underneath is a vignette of flowers. In the interior of the box are two insects and the Chantilly horn mark. The box closes tightly. Condition is very good. Buyer to pay all costs associated with shipping and insurance. This lovely Paris Porcelain Bronze Mounted Dresser Box measures about 5.5" in diameter and about 2-3/4" tall. The front is beautifully decorated with a hummingbird over flowers with a lake scene in the background. The hinge on the box is partially broken. And it has some gilding loss, and one chip not visible unless opened. It is being sold as-is because of its issues. I really think this box is beautiful.

This would be a little keepsake box for a small item. Box has a faux Chinese chop mark that was used by the company as well as a"Limoge" mark in gold. It is hand painted in raised relief enamels in the Lowestoft Chinese export style. Antique Lg Porcelaine De Paris Hinged Box in Deep Pink; Gorgeous, 1918-1939
The only suitable word for this piece is. Magnificent. This French fine porcelain box was made by the Porcelaine De Paris Co. which was owned by Robert Bloch. The box has the blue mark(see photo 7) on the underside indicating that it was made sometime between 1918 and 1939. This blue mark was introduced by Robert Bloch after World War 1. Bloch's wife was an accomplished artist, and did a great deal of the painting on his porcelain pieces. This particular piece presents in excellent condition, with no flaws or defects, despite its great age. The box is beautifully and elaborately decorated, and could be displayed in any room. It is painted on the outside lid, inner lid, and bottom of the box with a lovely floral design in deep rich colors. The flowers are purple, magenta, orange, blue, yellow, with green leaves on a white white background. ... moreIt is surrounded by gold swirls, this is all atop the beautiful pink color of the main part of the box. There are also small gold florets all around the sides of the box. The entire box is trimmed in brass with a twisted rope like design, and all this brass looks good. The hinges also look good, as they are fully intact. The box is heavy, weighing in at 4 pounds,10 ounces; and it stands approximately 3 and a 1/2 in high. The measurements are 11 in wide, by 8 in long. This is without a doubt a special piece, its beauty, age, condition, and history all compete to make it very desirable. Early Victorian ladies dresser figural jewelry box depicting a young girl sitting in a fancy Victorian chair knitting. It has a beautiful hand painted Famille Rose design with gold gilt accents. The design has pink tones. And the flowers have pink, purple, green, orange and yellow colors. The green and yellow colors are raised and appear to be enamel. The clasp is a figural leaf. I believe the trinket box was produced by The Samson. Edmé et Cie Company. The firm founded by Edmé Samson(1810-1891) Samson was a famous copyist of fine porcelain. Meissen. Sèvres, Chelsea, and Derby were among Samson's reproductions. A frequent style copied by the Samson firm was the Famille Rose style(first produced in China between 1720 and 1790) Samson did not set out to produce copies with the intention ... moreto deceive. DIMENSIONS The trinket box measures 3-1/2 inches long by 2-14 inches at its widest point. It is approximately 1-3/4 inches at its highest point. CONDITION The hinged box is in very good condition for its age. There are no cracks. Chips or crazing. There is some wear on the metal rim where the top of the lid meets the base dish. There is a small area inside, at the corner of the bottom, where the glaze has worn. There is a small amount of wear on the gold gilt accents. The hinge is securely attached. There is a little bit of a separation where the lid meets the bottom dish on the right side of the hinge. The hinge and clasp are in working order. The clasp closes with a"click" sound. This is a listing for a old Paris hinged porcelain powder or jewelry box. Very lovely antique porcelain oval box featuring nude cherubs set upon a cloud with fabric and arrows ready to used. Lovely lite pink background colors heavily decorated with hand painted gold scroll work and trim. Front and back has hand painted panels with ribbon and flowers. The interior of the box is decorated with flowers as well. Measurement is 7" length by 2 1/2" height. Decorated gilt metal casing for the porcelain as well. Large Paris Porcelain Hinged Dresser Box from Mid to Late 1800's
Large Paris Porcelain Hinged Dresser Box from Mid to Late 1800's This is a quite large antique porcelain dresser box. Reaching nearly 8" wide. This piece is attributed to Paris Porcelain, but for the Crossed Arrows and for the desing. This hinged box comes together as one piece with the bronze mounts to the mouth of the box and around the base of the lid. The bronze has a deep patina to it and has a lot of detail. The top. Like the rest of this piece is all hand painted onto the moulded scenes of each figure. This scene showing a putti standing aside a woman wearing a red and yellow dress, attempting to warm themselves by a fire that burns in a standing urn. There is a pink and blue bird flying by as the two figures stand on a grey rocky looking surface that has green grasses behind. All around are Rocco style scrolling gold accents ... moreand detail. On the front is a pair of embrasing cherubs. One playing a two headed flute. Behind them is some golded amber clouds. On either side is a moulded drapery of purplish red and yellow drapery type ribbons, tied back with gold bulbs. The back is my personal favorite as it appears to be the manufactures calling card. This same crossed arrows being seen on other very early pieces. Each arrow is painted in gold and tied together with a yellow and purple ribbon. This piece shows no signs of damage. Breaks, cracks, chips or repairs. The only issue is due to time, the mounting putty used around the brass has begun to dry and fall away. It is believed that this piece dates to the mid to late 1800's. I've tried showing each and every side and detail to this piece so that you're able to see the condition. Antique French Porcelain Dresser Box France Casket Paris Sevres Hand Painted vtg
Antique French Porcelain Box This hand painted porcelain box is a recent estate find. Measures approximately 6-7/8” long. 4” deep and 2-3/4” tall. Weighs 15 ounces. The underside is marked Made in France, and there is also a Sevres style mark. The item looks quite vintage, but I am not certain exactly how old. Though France is obviously the origin, whereat in France, I do not know. You all know so much more about this item than I do. I apologize greatly for my ignorance. There is a lot of gold loss to the decoration on top(the lid) Much of this gold design on top is either entirely gone or barely recognizable. The lid also has some inconspicuous areas of blistering to the surface(maker related) And there are a couple areas that need more of a detailed cleaning. The box as a whole, but mostly on the lid, has some minor scratches and tiny surface ... moreblemishes here and there. There is an approximate 2mm flake to the surface on the back. Near a bottom edge corner, that is shown in the very last photo below. The metal as a whole has a good deal of darkening. Discoloration, loss, crudeness and overall related wear. The hinge itself is curved some, so I assume it may have some level of bending– I don’t know. The box opens and closes well. The lid mostly latches well and stays shut when I turn the box over, but every now and then(at least a couple times for me) the lid opened when I turned the box over, so it’s not a super tight closure or anything like that. When I open the box and just leave the lid open. I will admit that it seems like it may be too much weight for the hinge. The box stays flat, and everything seems OK, but I can’t deny my concern that leaving the lid open may be unsafe for the hinge(too vulnerable) Maybe the lid opens farther than it should? I’m probably being paranoid and entirely too picky. The unglazed underside edge and the unglazed top edges of the inside all have a truly evident amount of darkening. On the outside top are a man and woman sitting and obviously enamored with each other. The hinges are either brass or bronze. The clasp is intact- works well and shuts nicely. Has a diameter of 3 1/2" and is 1 3/4" tall. No chips breaks or cracks. The color hue is somewhat dark. Sides looks to be finished is a varnish type substance which is flaking. PARIS This is a Scarce& Desirable Maker Marked 1800's Antique Gentleman's/ Ladies fancy hand painted snuff box ~ ring/jewelry box ~ trinket box made by Sampson. Paris. In the late 18th to mid 19th century, nearly all men(and some ladies) used tobacco; and snuff(finely ground tobacco that was snorted) was a favorite, and was quite in vogue. These early snuff boxes are highly sought after, and are known in a variety of ... moredifferent shapes, sizes, materials and craftsmanship. This one is finely hand made porcelain over a copper base, and shows wonderful artisanship and craftsmanship, with good attention to detail. Most snuff boxes are a standard oval or rectangular shape. This fancy stylized shape is less common, and was more difficult to make and more expensive to purchase. This snuff box has a hand painted motif; and was obviously intended for a Love interest/ Friendship token for a Lady or Gentleman at the time. The hand painted stylized shaped domed top has the charming hand painted phrase" Accept this Trifle from a Friend, Whose love for Thee Will never End" with scroll border decoration. This piece probably dates to around 1825- 1850, and was intended as a gift and to declare one's interest to a special friend or love interest in an overt way during the Victorian era. The top has a fine 3 protrusion type hinge with a stop to keep the top open. A small lip in front, and the stylized top and bottom copper borders fit perfectly.
