For sale. A very pretty antique porcelain hair receiver. This is marked Austria on the bottom and has the numbers 5, 0 on the inside cover. This is approx. 4" across and 2 1/2" tall. There is a general overall crazing commensurate with age but no chips or cracks. I did not wash or clean this in any way. So it could use a good cleaning. I always leave things in as found condition. Hair receivers were popular vanity accessories with ladies of that period to store hair removed from their brushes& combs, which enhanced the buns and other bouffant hair styles that were fashionable during Victorian times. Human hair was also used for stuffing pincushions and small furnishing cushions. Hair Receivers today would make wonderful jewelry storage!
