It is a box, the bottom has a line of lovely flowers and 2 handles. The top is aboy with red white and blue pantaloons sitting on a grassy hill holding a kite. There is some damage to piece, on the back of the kite there is a chip at the top and there is also a chip on the edge of the box. Please refer to all pictures, they truly tell the story. Antique Fairing Pug Dog Ceramic Box Match Safe Victorian Vintage Trinket
This is an antique Fairing match safe with a pug dog figurine on the lid. There are diamond shapes on the 4 corners in blue. And gold flecks over the surface of both top and bottom. It does not show in the picture, but on the inside of the top, there are ridges to be used to strike matches. On the bottom of the base are the numbers 3508 and underneath that, 141. There are no cracks, chips or crazing that I can see. This item stands about 3 1/2 inches tall. This is perfect for any collector of match safes or Fairing ware. I accept PayPal only. Numbered ENGLISH Little Red Riding Hood FAIRING TRINKET BOX - ANTIQUE
Purchased last week at an estate sale is this darling little porcelain FAIRING LIDDED BOX of"LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD" The red paint has flaked off the figure as well as her basket. Her face is still lovely. The wolf looks to be in excellent condition. It appears to me that the lid does not fit well over the bottom but this is the first fairing I have ever had so I am not sure of what quality to expect of items that were given away a the early fairs in Germany. I was told this one is from England and a very early one because of the incised numbers on the bottom. I will have to let you be the judge of the age and country of origin. Other than the flaked paint I believe the item is in good aged condition. Measures 2 3/4" tall with the base of 2 1/2" left to right and 1 3/4" front to back. Still has original inserts and measures about 3" long and is about 2 7/8" tall. Unmarked. Has a chip to her hand, and a chip at the end by her feet, but it is practically insvisible. Unusual Large Fairing Box w Sleeping Child & Dog c. 1840 NR
This beautiful old box is from the mid 1800's. It measures about 5" across and 4" tall. It is in wonderful condition for it's age with only a very small flake on the inside of the cover and a couple of tiny spots on the rim of the bottom of the box. It is made of a heavy porcelain and depicts a darling girl. Sleeping on a chair with her little dog. The inside of the cover is a rough bisque and it looks to be hand painted. The facial details of the girl are very vivid. These fairing pieces are getting hard to find and a box of this size is quite unusual. It appears to have the original mirror and has an incised mark on the underside. It dates from the 19th Century and measures approximately 8 + 5/8 inches tall overall to the top of the mirror by 5 + ¾ inches across at its widest by 5 inches across the bottom. Two chips inside lid and a firing crack in bottom, left in uncleaned condition Uncommon to find a fairing with the mirror intact This Conta& Boehme fairing or trinket box comes from my grandmother's estate(1891- 1961) A handwritten note says that she purchased this trinket box from her cousin for $5 in 1945. The cousin had obtained the fairing from her aunt. That. Along with the incised mark of an enclosed shield and an arm holding a sword. Suggests that the date of manufacture ... moreis the second half of the 19th century. It was likely made before 1890 when the McKinley Tariff act required foreign goods be marked with country of origin. Children atop fairings seem to have been a fairly common theme for Conta& Boehme. However. We were unable to find another one like this which depicts a little girl washing an article of clothing in a tub. We believe the mirror is original. It shows a few signs of age yet the mirrors are so often missing from these. We didn't attempt to clean the piece. Our inspection revealed a firing glaze inside the bottom of the box. Wear to the gold and enamel, and two old chips underneath the lid that aren't otherwise visible. This would be a nice and uncommon addition to a collection of Victorian fairings. Antique China Fairing Box, Musical Instruments, Lute, Horn
This is an original china fairing which is a little box with musical instruments on the lid. These little pieces were souvenirs from fairs in England and were usually made in Germany. It has no marks as to its origin. It has the remnants of gold decoration n the front of the base. There is a little chip on the underside of the"lute" which shows in the photo of the upside down lid. Otherwise it is in good condition. It is 3" tall with the lid on and 2& 3/4" across the base.

For auction is this darling antique fairing with girl and cat. The fairing measures 4" tall and 3" wide. The fairing features a girl and cold painted cat peering into a"mirror" there is no glass. Nor was there ever, in the mirror) I am not certain if the cat is metal or bronze. It is quite unusual to see mixed materials in this format. There is a tight and old hairline that runs from the top of the dresser to mid-point of the dresser, approximately 1 1/2" long. Inside the rim is a small chip and there is a small chip at the back leg of the dresser. This is a charming Victorian China fairing trinket box that depicts a fancy dresser and mirror with an animal(sheep? in a basket and a lady figure on one side. The other figure is missing. This fairing has nice details and guilding. It has the incised 4 digit number on the bottom of the top piece(1324) indicating that it was made by Conta& Boehme. Germany circa 1840's. The piece is 4 1/4" tall and 3" wide and 1 1/2" deep. Unfortunately. One figure has been broken and is missing and there is one chip in the ruffle that run around the dresser. The piece looks like there was something where the mirror would be.

Only mark is on bottom and numbered 33. These use to be given out at fairs as prizes and gifts! They are getting harder to find in such good condition! A must have for any collector! Approx. 4 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" long x 2 1/4" wide x 1 1/2" deep. What appears as a line in the bottom of the box does not go through. Most likely a manufacturing flaw.

Antique German Porcelain Trinket Box/Fairing, Bureau w/Helmet,Gun,etc. c. 1860
This is an authentic mid 19th century porcelain Trinket Box. They were often referred to as"Fairings" because they were made. In Germany, for the English Fairs in the mid 1800s. This little box, in the form of a bureau with a mirror frame on the lid has additional interest on the lid in the form of a German style helmet, a long gun, pistol and sword. These items suggest that it may have been intended as a gentleman's trinket box. The box measures about 4" by 3" and 4 1/2" to the top of the mirror frame. Rarely are these boxes found without damage but this one is in perfect condition with no damage or restoration.

An antique porcelain fairing trinket box or dresser box by German company Conta Boehme. Titled"A Little Turk" and featuring a little boy with a Turkish fez, reclining against some cushions and smoking a hookah. Conta Boehme produced a series of these boxes with different themes but easily discernible general pattern. The original seal. Item number as well as a very smudged"Made in Germany" is under the lid. Item is in great condition for its age- I could find a single hairline on the right side in the front(as seen in photos) and no other chippings or breakage. General age wear as expected and the colors as well as the gold gilt is faded in spots. Age is presumably late 1800s. Early 1900s. Trinket box weighs 8.3 oz. Antique Fairing Train Engine Match Striker Trinket Box " Cardiff to Newport "
I acquired a nice and very varied collection of fairings( antique fair giveaways) from a serious collector who said this were all from the 1800's. They have age appropriate wear and I will point out anything I think is damage but PLEASE look at photos and feel free to ask questions. ALL started at VERY fair opening bids well below value and I am glad to combine on s/h for real savings. Love the look of this steam engine measuring about 4" long. you can see the striker underneath. Unfortunately one wheel is cracked and separated and they did a poor job of jus taping together. With that said. When it is on display the damage is mostly hidden and you don't notice it. Not sure where Cardiff to Newport are located; maybe England?
