ca. 1760 Queen Anne Tilt Top Tripod Table Solid Mahogany.
This table is very clean and is made from solid mahogany. The legs are completely hand carved and the top of the table is hand cut. The craftsmanship that went into this piece is outstanding. It is from about 1760 and over time has developed pleasing wear. The condition is good overall. But there is a crack in one of the legs, but it does not affect the integrity and stability of the table. The tilt top works, and the lock is original, but has one of the screws replaced. The top of the table has been refinished, but it is an old refinish. It is completely ready for use in a home. If you have any questions please ask! Thanks!

English George III Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Antique Side Table c. 1760-90
English Chippendale Mahogany Tilt Top Side Table over Snake Feet Late 18th Century Item# 110005GFF25 This is an English Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Tea Table. Of the period c. 1760-90. Of remarkable weight, it features a single solid board top, hand planed carefully to create a perfect smooth surface. A thick varnish finish covers the entire piece, glowing on the top, with craquelure throughout the varnish along the pedestal and legs. The original hand carved cleats affix the top to the pedestal with a mix of a few remaining original hand crafted screws among later added screws. A brass catch on the underside of the table top still functions fully to secure the table in a resting postion, this appearing to be a period addition improving over the old catch system- originally a dowel likely joined through the left cleat into a hole in the ... morepedestal head to lock the table top in place. The pedestal tenons through the square base. Solidly locking these two critical components permanently[not the numerous repairs to the square head of the pedestal; this appears to be the original plank with later repairs to help secure it] The pedestal is carefully turned shaft ending in a carved spiral urn, then locking into the legs with tight dovetail joints. Cabriole legs curve down and terminate in simple oval slipper feet. A piece that has seen some life. This is a fine well crafted period tea table. From a conservation standpoint, it would be beneficial to have the current finish removed chemically and a shellac reapplied. It is a fine piece for anyone with a home of colonial or Chippendale design, a sturdy work that is fully capable of regular use in the home. Measurements: Top measures 30 3/4" wide x 30 1/8" wide(across grains) 44 7/8" high in tilted position. 27 1/2" high in down position; 26 1/2" distance between each toe Condition Report: Refinished. The thick shellac crackling throughout base and particularly evident on the legs; we would recommend that the table is refinished again eventually. Ch

RARE ENGLISH SOLID OAK TABLE~DROPLEAF LATE 18C EARLY 19C~QUEEN ANNE PAD FT~NO R!
ENGLISH SOLID OAK TABLE~LATE 18C~EARLY 19C~QUEEN ANNE PAD FOOT~LOVELY~RARE~NO R! This wonderful very old SOLID English oak table. Naturally is from England and is in very nice condition for usage and its age. There is No veneer on this table.totally solid oak throughout including its two attached leaves. The table is from a friend of a family who has passed on and had nothing but excellent antiques and owns an 18c homestead. The table is authentic and I guarantee it. It is sturdy and very good looking. The top has some old stains on it. However I left it alone and would not have anything sanded out or stripped. The top and the whole table have wonderful patina. I am a purist and appreciate the age and construction of this piece. The legs swing out to accomodate two leaves. The English pad foot is handcarved and very nice. The table's ... moreage is anywhere from late 1700s to early 1800s. Measuremnts: The table closed is not big. Which is why it is so nice to have behind a sofa or on a wall; and then.when folks come over, it opens to a truly nice table and 6 can fit to it having a bite to eat. It measures completely opened 45 3/4" long by 35 3/4" wide, and if you just had a friend over or wanted to serve some appetizers, you could open only one leaf and have plenty of room. It measures 27 7/8" from the floor making it very comfortable to eat with any chair under it. See the pictures of my old chair near it. Closed: The table top closed is 16" deep and 35 3/4" long. The pad foot is a good size and the table is NOT wobbly. NO CRACKS, NO BREAKS AND I SEE NO REPAIRS. Please ask questions. Happy to oblige. This is a reasonable priced auction and it is a final sale. American Queen Anne Serpentine Top Tilting Antique Tea Table, Late 18th Century
Fine American Queen Anne Serpentine Top Tilting Tea Table In the manner of Joseph Short(1771-1819) Probably North Shore. Massachusetts- possibly Connecticut Item# 130006RUP13 Possibly by Joseph Short(1771-1819) of Newburyport. MA or a contemporary during the same period, this fine American Queen Anne Tilting Top Tea Table is an unusually attractive specimen. The top is an incredibly broad single plank of Birch with a molded edge carved of the solid in a soft reverse serpentine. Generally these tops are of at least two boards, sometimes with a small third board making up the edge- to be crafted of a full single plank and still maintain the original cleats and smooth function is quite a feat; shrinking and expanding can often have dire consequences on the cleats, resulting in a top that is either cracked or too compressed against the square ... morehead of the pedestal to be functional. Surviving in excellent condition. The table maintains it's original untouched cleats, mostly original screws, original brass latch(and period replaced clasp on the square head of the pedestal) and original tri-form iron bracket beneath the feet. The square pedestal head is a block of cherry chamfered along the underside, the pedestal tenoned through it in a square. The solid cherry pedestal is robust with a wonderful swollen baluster beneath tight ring turnings and over three cabriole legs that terminate in raised pad feet. The legs intersect with the base in soft scalloping that works to soften the flow of the joint, these joining into the pedestal with large dovetails. Finished with a glossy and attractive wax over shellac. The worn and oxidized patina of the wood maintains it's preserved glow and character. This is an exceptional piece for serious collectors of American antique furniture. Measurements: 31 3/8" x 31" top width/height; 24 5/8" from foot to foot Condition Report: Fine mellow refinish. Cleats original and untouched. Mostly original hand filed screws still securing these to the underside of the table wi

New England Chippendale Birch Drop Leaf Table with Scalloped Leaves Circa 1780
New England Chippendale Birch Drop Leaf Table with Scalloped Leaves Circa 1780 Wow. Here is a very nice table from circa 1780. Recently picked it up at a high end decorative arts catalog sale in PA. The table was described as being ca 1780 and as being made in New England. What I think makes is quite unique is the scalloped leaves on the table. Have come across this design very rarely in my 35 years of furniture dealing. The table appears to be made of birch wood. You be the judge of the wood type. It just has a great sheen and glow to the tabletop. Check out the one pic with a shot of the entire top with the leaves up. Just awesome. Great legs on this table as well with the design of them, not just squared out legs. I suspect this table originally belonged to someone of some stature. The top has dowel plugs where the legs and frame are attached ... moreto it. One side of the main top appears to have been mended at one time and a nice job of doing it was performed. The main top where it was pieced together has the seams coming apart. That is not splitting of the wood. A good master carpenter could fix that issue quite easily. The table is 38.5" long by 14-3/8" across with the leaves down. The table is 27.5" tall. With the leaves up. The table is 40.5" across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Make sure that this table meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. The item can be returned. But there is a $300 restocking fee to do so. So again. Ask all questions you have, come see in person or send a friend to see the table on your behalf, prior to deciding to acquire it. This is a special instrument and I want to make sure it goes to a home that will appreciate it, so looking for serious inquiries only. The table is too old. Large and heavy for shipping safely via freight, so this table is for local pick-up only. Buyer is welcome to make their own packing and shipping arrangements as well. I will also offer to deliver the furniture to within 70 miles
18th CENTURY SPLAY LEGGED TABLE STOOL STAND AS IS
Here is the battered remains of an early 1700's splay-legged stand which I also found at a local estate tag sale. I wasn't paying attention to the adds. And this was all that was left on the second day of the sale. There had been several pieces of pre-Revolutionary War era furnishings! The feet have been worn right off and even some of the all original box stretcher base is worn off. There are signs of old worm activity(not extensive or any current) Each of the four corners of the tops of the legs and aprons have metal bracing that is probably over 100 years old, and there is evidence of even older repairs- like a big ugly screw, and an added wood brace nailed with a rose-headed nail(picture 6) The top is probably a very old replacement. It is attached with two forged nails and two round nails, and when it is pulled off, one can see ... morethe top was off many times during it's life. I think all the wood is oak, or maybe some is hickory. It is sturdier than it looks, and is very heavy. It feels almost petrified. It was still in use holding a stoneware lamp next to a family room couch! It measures a little over 18" tall; the top is about 12" square. The top of the base(under the table top) is approximately 9" square, splaying down to the bottom stretcher base which is a little over 12" square. I will brace and double box very carefully.

Fine American Chippendale Drop Leaf Table w/ Ball & Claw Feet, Pennsylvania
American Chippendale Mahogany Drop Leaf Table w/ Ball and Claw Feet Probably Pennsylvania c. 1770-90. Shaped Apron Item# 100105QPP31 An exceptional work of early American craftsmanship. This is an outstanding selection for serious collectors of Pennsylvania Chippendale furniture. Each board on the table is fully solid single planks of Mahogany, each carefully selected for the best possible grains. They are hand planed to leave a flawless top surface, with an unfinished and uneven planed underside. The leaves hang from the table with hand crafted original hinges, uncommon with the pressure usually on these hinges, but a statement to the quality of craftsmanship in the piece. One hinge is a possible replacement. Still a period hand forged hinge, but of different dimension from the other three) The hinges are reinforced to allow originality ... moreand functionality at the same time. The top sits gracefully over its original frame. The frame has a most graceful form. With a flowing carved apron floating the front and back. The practical hand craftsmanship is obvious, where the cabinetmaker carved and finished the front of each apron, but left the back unfinished with evidence of chisel and knife throughout. Each corner is formed with a pegged tenon-mortise joint, while the frame- of primarily pine secondary woods- joins with dovetailed construction for a permanent build. The underside of the table is locked on to the top with original glued blocks. The frame sits over four cabriole legs, rolling with ease into the tendons and muscles tensed in grip. It has some of the most beautiful Philadelphia ball and claw carvings, with full details of the talons, stretched skin and sharpness of the grasping nails reaching around each perfectly formed ball. Small knicks and marks from the knife are still apparent where they carefully carved each foot. The piece boasts the most magnificent patina and depth of finish. With a deep glow and incredible oxidization throughout. Every part of this piece is a testament to the planning and
English William & Mary 18th Century Antique Gate Leg Drop Leaf Breakfast Table
William and Mary Period Oval Gate Leg Breakfast Table Late 18th Century. England; one leaf replaced, feet probably replaced. Item# 120008SMT11 This is a table of unusual form with a simply gorgeous oval oak top. Each section of two solid golden oak boards covered with a wonderful wax finish, the leaves lifting to flush on ruled joints. The leaves have original 18th century hand forged hinges, though we suspect at least one of the leaves is replaced(see notes below in condition) The frame is pinned tenon-mortise construction over intensely ring-turned legs, each stretched permanently by a box-form stretcher, from which the gating leg on either side swings freely on a through-dowel peg. The legs swing very easily and smoothly to support the leaves, each with the correlating scrape marks underneath. It is an excellent piece to match any Colonial ... moreinspired decor. While having an overall petite proportion that is very desirable in a table of this nature. This is not a museum quality work in light of the feet and leaves, but is an outstanding find for the designer and anyone looking for a deeply patinated colonial table for a rustic interior- in wonderful condition for a work crafted over 250 years ago, this will be cherished in your home functionally and decoratively. Measurements: closed) 15" deep x 33 1/4" wide x 27 1/2" high(open) 44" deep x 33 1/4" wide x 27 1/2" high Condition Report: 1. Finish is well preserved beneath a later wax finish- the finish beneath the wax is very early. Probably not original 2. Feet are possibly replaced- they are affixed to the legs. But have a very natural wear- however, the softwood(presumably pine) nature of the feet also suggests possible early replacement 3. Drop leaves are possibly replaced; at least one is certainly a replacement. Note the second cut for an earlier hinge and the slight mismatch between hinge size and cut slot. The leaves are both certainly 18th century, and there could be an argument made that the empty cut slot was simply a mistake
English Georgian Chippendale Birdcage Tea Table w/ Tilting Octofoil Carved Top
Rare Georgian Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Tea Table England. Late 18th Century Octofoil top carved with fruit& foliage over fluted pedestal. Cabriole legs with acanthus carved knees terminating in ball and claw feet. Item# 120109PTE08 This is a rather rare form. Carved in the manner of Frederick Hintz tables, though absent of any brass inlay noteworthy in his works. The top is octofoil in form, featuring eight shallow dish spaces circling a large central dish space. A table of this form would typically be used as a dinner table, not for tea due to the oversized nature of the dished valleys in the top. Formed from a single piece of mahogany, crafting something of this nature was exceedingly difficult and likewise exceedingly expensive in the 18th Century. A work of this nature would be found only in the finest London homes. Evidence of ... morehow it was formed is still visible in the piece, as you carefully look at the centermost point of each circular form- note the scar where the craftsman anchored his lathe to shave the perfect circle with raised molding. Each dish space is flanked by fruit carvings, each unique and different from the next- note the incredible crispness of each fruit, the attention to even the smallest details leaving identification of each fruit relatively easy: cherries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and plums. The table twists freely a full three-hundred and sixty degrees on the birdcage mechanism. Formed of four columns that through-taper the top and bottom, between which the shaft of the pillar comes through and is locked on with an angular through-wedge. This wedge is easily removed, allowing the entire top to lift off of the pedestal. The pedestal shaft is turned and tapers broader towards the bottom, deep stop-fluting around the entire shaft. Three cabriole legs dovetail into the center of the pedestal, exposed from beneath and actually formed such that no three-way bracket was necessary to lock the legs permanently in place. The knees are acanthus carved in the Georgian manne

18th Century~Antique Carved Pine Pioneer Wood FARM Table~Side Slots~Cabin~Lodge
This is a fabulous Antique. Handmade, 1800's*Carved/Sculpted WOOD Table* I purchased this many years ago at an antique store. And it's been one of my favorite tables. Not only a fabulous table that will fit just about anywhere, but very functional, as it has the top and lower shelf, and on both ends, it has wood slots, that you can push in or out, and is perfect for holding magazines, books, letters, remotes, or other things. They also slide up and down, and have a lovely hand-cut out pattern in the centers. see photos) A super sturdy table. No wobble whatsoever. Will last for many more generations! All very well glued together. As they made them back than. I believe this is made of beautiful PINE Wood. The wood measures approx. 3/4" thick. The legs are beautifully hand-carved. Many people like antiques in their original condition. ... moreAs this is, or you could sand it down and give it a new finish. You could put a pretty table runner or tray on the top if you wanted to, as it does show more age/use marks on top than on the rest of it. A great table from days gone by for next to a chair, an entryway, by the bed or sofa, hallway, just anywhere. Would be a beautiful table in a Cabin or Lodge also. Fine American Chippendale Antique Card Table, Pennsylvania 18th Century c 1760
Fine American Chippendale Mahogany Card Table over Marlborough Legs Pennsylvania c. 1775-1785 in nearly untouched condition Primary Woods: Mahogany[tops. Primary case, legs, molding] Secondary Woods: Golden Oak[gate leg frame] Yellow Pine[back board of frame, runners, interior blocking] Cedar[triangular blocks under drawer bottom] Poplar[drawer sides and bottom] Item# 130108MWT12 This is an exceptional work of art. An American Chippendale Mahogany Card Table from Pennsylvania circa the last quarter of the 18th Century, likely crafted between 1775-85. The table is remarkably well preserved, almost entirely untouched other than regular maintenance of the finish through periodic and regular waxing- the finish beneath is possibly not original, or at least partially restored, but is very early and highly patinated. Every aspect of the table is ... moreoriginal, including the highly delicate C-Scroll returns that flank each leg- these are replaced or damaged with high frequency due to their precarious nature, particularly the left rear bracket, as this is only secured at the table frame and does not attach to the gating leg. Clearly the table remained in one area without being moved or roughly handled for much of it's life. The top is crafted of broad solid planks of mahogany. Each just under an inch thick and spanning the entire depth of 17 3/4" without a second board. The figure is warm and flowing, a rich pudding surface that is even more evident on the cleaner"game" surface. The top lifts over original hinges to rest on the gating back leg, this crafted with golden oak making up both ends of the knuckled board, tenoned into the rear left leg and pinned with two wooden pegs. A single drawer pulls out from the front with an outstanding Rococo pair of brasses, likely imports from England and fully original, the edge of the drawer lined with a thin cockbead molding to give shape to the drawer. The drawer is framed with poplar secondaries, the deeply chamfered bottom sliding into rabbets along the sides with
