CHEST OF DRAWERS ANTIQUE CHAIRS TABLES BRONZE SCULPTURES FINE PAINTINGS SCHOOL OF ORIGIN SUBJECT LAMPS. LIGHTING ENGLISH GEORGE III INLAID MAHOGANY PEMBROKE ... moreTABLE Fine polished surfaces. Entirely original hardware, c. 1790-1800 Item# 130011MIP03 This is a fine English George III Period Inlaid Mahogany Pembroke Table c. the last quarter of the 18th Century. Crafted from solid mahogany and mahogany veneers. Everything about this fine table speaks quality and attention to detail. The craftsmanship is impeccable, the construction precise and the wood of most choice quality for pristine presentation. The large rectangular top becomes ovular when the demilune leaves raise over their original iron hinges to rest on a pair of wings that swing out from the frame of the table on either side, resulting in a large and brilliant cognac mahogany surface edged by satinwood inlay. The ribbed and glowing quality of the mahogany cannot be underscored enough. A single drawer resides in the frame beneath the projecting top; the drawer is framed with cockbead molding and is hand dovetailed in the usual manner. Utilizing secondary oak woods to make up the frame for the drawer, the bottom board protected beneath runner strips and tacked with four iron brads along the back edge. The lock is probably original, though we have not removed it to be certain, the key now absent. On the other side of the table, the wood is crafted to create the illusion of a drawer where one does not exist. Flanking the drawer and faux-drawer are satinwood veneered panels surrounded by stringer inlay, the apron of the table lined in a thick satinwood border that completes the square profile of the table top. Resting over four square tapering legs. The table terminates on bright and original brass caster feet. The underside of the structure remains untouched, the iron rose head nails affixing the underside of the dustboard to the frame of the table with a pair of corner blocks securing the legs behind the faux-drawer. Worth noting is the need for a screw for

Hand-crafted in England c1780 Georgian period George III style Versatile three-table design Cathedral mahogany Satinwood string inlays Rosewood banding Square-tapered legs Spade feet Some wear(see pics) Excellent condition for age This amazing antique dining table was hand-crafted during the reign of George II around 1760. Few genuine English antiques survive from this period. ... moreAnd even fewer remain in such excellent condition as this table, so this is certainly a highly unique example of fine antique furniture. Moreover, the design of the table, which is really composed of three separate tables-two side tables and a central gate leg table-is not only very novel but is also quite versatile. For instance, when not in use as a full dining table, you can use the two ends as hall or side tables and do the same for the center or you can use the central table piece as a smaller dining table. This was a common design in the Georgian period, although it has now become entirely absent from contemporary English reproductions.Having been recently restored, the mahogany displays a deep, rich complexion and a subtle grain, both of which have grown more beautiful and distinct over the years with the development of a lovely patina. In addition to cathedral mahogany, this table also features extensive satinwood string and rosewood inlays. As was common with fine Georgian furniture, this table is finished on all sides. This means, for instance, that satinwood inlays adorn all four sides of the square tapered legs. The brass fasteners have recently been fitted to the ta

FINE ANTIQUE ENGLISH GEORGE III MAHOGANY WINE TABLE TILT TOP ON TRIPOD BASE
This is a listing for a very elegant fine antique English George III mahogany wine table. To be fully appreciated this piece of furniture must be put in its historical context. The Georgian(1714 to 1837) style embraces a century under the reign of three Georges and is often divided into the Palladian early and late Georgian periods. The style was partly a reaction to baroque which George I loathed. As the century progressed. The style became lighter in terms of colours and decoration. The age of mahogany dominated much of the middle part of the 18th century. The beginning of this period saw a sudden simplification of style into less ornamental and more elegant aesthetic. Emphasis was henceforth on simple, flowing lines like for example the cabriole leg. This fine example of wine table belongs to this period showing the full character of the ... moreharmony and symmetry of this delicate piece of furniture. Georgian furniture survived in numbers due to the quality of the craftmanship and timbers used. This table has mellowed with age and matured with beauty and will sit happily in the smallest home and largest mansions and will be admired by all. Buying a piece of antique is for you to enjoy and it is a good investment. The table shows a beautiful and warm mahogany revived by a recent restoration to ensure its attractiveness lasts for generations. The top is released to tilt open by a very attractive and popular- to the period. Catch which is still in full working order. The slender table is supported by a turned column and tripod base terminating onto spade feet. This item dates back to circa 1800 Dimensions: H: 69 cm(27 inches) Diameter 83.5 cm(33.5 inches) Condition report: Visually this is a stunning piece with its attractive warm mahogany and slender lines. This is an antique piece about 200 years of old and therefore even though it has been restored some signs of use and age are visible. Please review carefully the photographs of this lovely table. French or Continental Neoclassical Antique "Vide Poche" Side Table, 18th Century
French Neoclassical"Vide Poche" Antique Side Table or Candle Stand Late 18th Century. Walnut(primary) Oak(secondary) with Satinwood Inlay Item# 130001NBU27 This is a wonderful little table. A French Neoclassical Antique Side Table crafted of solid walnut during the last quarter of the 18th Century in France. Known as a vide poche. Literally translating"empty pocket" this form is often stationed by the door, designed with a small stretcher tray for holding the keys, wallet and other pocket contents. The top has a satinwood inlaid diamond highlighting it's otherwise plain rectangular form, a small drawer with a chased-brass knob sliding out to reveal two square compartments on either corner. The left has an original tiny hand forged hinge that allows it to lift to reveal a space inside. The right compartment is hollowed ... moreand empty, possibly either to contain a candle or an inkwell(though no ink residue is visible inside the drawer) Crafted of solid oak secondary woods, the drawer is hand dovetailed front and back, nailed from the bottom into rabbets on the sides. The table is raised on pierced lier supports. These tenoned into oak rails beneath the table with two original and two replaced steel screws securing it from beneath. The strings are formed with brass tubes that tenon through the top and into the base. It has a scooped tray stretcher at the base and rests over bowed legs. The interior is stamped by it's maker. TARPIN BREMAT ALYON" possibly"ALION" A simply gorgeous work of art. Crafted with utmost precision and remaining in excellent condition despite it's fragile and thin profile. It is a wonderful find for any serious collector of 18th Century French antiques or for a decorator looking for a gorgeous 18th Century side table for interior design. American Federal Mid-Atlantic Cherry Candlestand Antique Side Table c. 1790-1810
American Federal Period Cherry Antique Candle Stand(Side Table) Resting over"Spider" form legs. Mid-Atlantic States, c. 1790-1810 Item# 130001WLG27(note. The chair, book and candlestick are not part of this listing- they are pictured only to give visual dimensions and proportions) This is a simply gorgeous American Federal Cherry Candle Stand crafted of solid Cherry in the Mid-Atlantic states. C. 1790-1810. It is a very handsome piece, the top crafted from a single solid board of cherry with shapely scalloped corners and rectangular form. The back of the top is relatively undisturbed, every single screw appearing to be fully original and in it's original hole- they were likely removed when it was refinished, as there is not evidence of finish buildup along the rails, but each was very carefully restored to it's original ... morespace and remain firm and strong. Despite shrinking over the years, the table still functions without flaw, lifting and latching smoothly and providing a sturdy and level surface. The shaft is shaped with wonderful detail. Starting at the bottom in a succession of swelling and receding rings under the urn-form baluster from which sprouts the thin turned pillar lifting the square solid cherry head. The triform"Spider" legs flow out from the base, where they join with a thick dovetail, to terminate in plain square feet. The underside of the shaft reveals the rough unfinished joinery, clean and without evidence of nails or an absent bracket- as a result of not being secured with a triform bracket, the legs have broken out from the pedestal and have been restored at some point in the past. They remain in very sturdy condition as a result of the workmanship. An outstanding presentation. This work of art was designed to be flexible in any number of design scenarios in the home- as a fully functional antique side table or antique candle stand for beside the bed. Between two windows, beside an arm chair or tilted in the corner. This is a piece that can be utilized actively, cha

Although we do not specialize in ancient languages this is what we have found while researching this piece and leads us to believe it is an authentic piece from Spain and dates to 1611. There are three markings repeated on the top of the table. One being what I think is the Coat of Arms of Toledo. Spain where it was made, the other being the family crest of King Phillip III who was king at the time it was made and the other marking is some version of the"Fleur-de-lis. There is a fourth marking on the bottom of the table which I believe is the marking of the Kingdom of Castile, in which Toledo,Spain is the capital. This table is made from wood. Brass and copper. There is some condition flaws here or there but that is to be expected with a piece with this much age. It is missing some tacks here or there. This would be beautiful professional restored. This table measures approx. 29' high and 33'

FEDERAL PERIOD FLAME BIRCH & MAHOGANY BIRD CAGE TIP TOP TEA TABLE ON SPIDER LEGS
POWERFUL FLAME BIRCH& MAHOGANY SPIDER LEG BIRD CAGE TIP TOP TEA TABLE PORTSMOUTH. NEW HAMPSHIRE-LATE 18th CENTURY With our compliments we are delighted to offer you this bold flame birch and mahogany rare spider leg bird cage tip top tea table Portsmouth. New Hampshire circa 1790's. We first need to apologize for photographs. We like to use natural sunlight in our photo process but this time of year we are findly it difficult to get sun exposure that isn't too harsh. We presently have a new photography area and inventory storage system being constructed and our shop is in disarray during the construction. We are backloged with wonderful New England estate treasures and have little choice than to start posting now and amend our photographs as quickly as possible. We are shooting pieces coming right off the trucks without cleaning, ... morepolishing, waxing and tweaking them as they should be. We do promise to properly detail every piece prior to leaving our shop. We should have the construction completed in the next week. Meanwhile the buying and selling has to continue. This stunning flame birch& mahogany bird cage tip top tea table has its original period crab lock, reeded profiles on the spider legs, wonderfully turned center pedestal and in a very good original finish that is in desperate need of a waxing and buffing. There is a typical very old and stable seasoning split on its lower base that we will be addressing along with its detailing this week. The top shows a few very small finish blemishes(it is an untouched 200 plus year old finish) that will be covered in as soon as we apply the tinted wax and buff it out. This tea table has a 27" top, is 44 1/2" tall locked back and 29" tall with the top locked down. One of the best flame birch pieces we have turned up in quite a while now. American New England Carved Cherry Tilt Candle Stand Candlestand Side Tea Table
American New England Carved Cherry Candlestand Side Table c. 1790-1810 Incredible carved pedestal with a"la croix pattée" repeating motif Sweeping legs with raised acanthus carvings over ball feet Item# 120011EWQ24 This is a remarkable candle stand table. Crafted in the New England states of early America, probably during the last years of the 18th Century, possibly as late as 1810. The shapely rectangular form top is rounded and notched at each corner, giving it a stilted flow that aligns with the overall appeal of the table. Rotating smoothly on a doweled mechanism, the table tilts from a fully functional tea table or side table to be a space conscious presentation piece, revealing the full beauty of the solid plank cherry top while bringing visual interest to a corner of the room. The pedestal is an absolute work of art. ... moreA practice in patience from a very steady and skilled hand. It is crafted with long flawless rows of a repeating" la croix pattée" motif. Carved deeply and perfectly along the length of the turned shaft. The Cross pattée, also referred to as the cross formée, literally translated from the French"la croix pattée" as"The Footed Cross" is primarily associated as a Christian symbol. Sometimes used by military organizations in Christian Nations, commonly associated with the Crusades and royalty of Britain, the symbol evokes the idea of a noble ideal. This is topped and footed by tight swirls of ring turnings. The legs have a wonderful swooping motion. Flowing smoothly from the base into ball turned little wooden feet, each fully original. Along the top of the entire leg is a smooth raised acanthus form carving. Each leg is locked into the pedestal using a hand forged tri-bracket with many original nails, all three joining together where the pedestal rounds with deep fluting. This is a stunning and quite unique table. Probably crafted by an artisan of low volume for a more rural market. The"mistake" of the top could suggest t

Fine English Queen Anne "Concertina Action" Antique Card Game Side Table c. 1740
English George II Period Flip Top Concertina Action Card& Console Table Very fine condition. C. 1730-50, featuring almost entirely original hardware(chairs not included) Item# 110106IPP18 This listing is for a George II Period Queen Anne Solid Mahogany Card Table. Circa 1730-50. It features a single solid board top of highly figured mahogany, with turrets on each corner flanking a serpentine center form. This opens easily over two original brass hinges, each locking to either side with small brass hand made original screws, worn smooth from years of use. The rear legs extend using a concertina action mechanism to allow the rear legs to reach out in a perfect square. Forming a full card table for the center of a room. Each hinge within the concertina mechanism appears to be original, with some replaced screws on the innermost hinges. The ... moresecondary framing is oak, creating strength in all portions of the mechanism to allow it to last. When the legs are pulled out, a small shelf and box are visible. This shelf has a carved handle, allowing you to carefully pull it along routed lines towards the rear legs, effectively locking the legs in a perfect square while also revealing a convenient space for game pieces. The box is hand dovetailed front and back, and both shelf and box are entirely oak construction. We will note that great care must be shown while pulling this shelf out, to not jam it or otherwise damage the concertina action- this is an incredibly special piece, in that the concertina action has been very well preserved; these are delicate mechanisms and they must be protected by carefully operating them. When the top is rested carefully over the opened legs. A card surface is revealed with a replaced broad clean blue leather. It is framed in gilt painted tooling wrapping around the perimeter. At each corner, a glowing mahogany turret and scoop for game pieces break the surface. Both opposing turrets feature brass inset candleholders, threaded to accept a candle or oil lamp fixture without fear of being

Rare Late 18th Century Georgian Chippendale Octofoil Tilt Top Birdcage Tea Table
Click for a slideshow of detailed pictures! Rare Georgian Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Tea Table England. Late 18th Century Octofoil top carved with fruit& foliage over fluted pedestal. Cabriole legs with acanthus carved knees terminating in ball and claw feet. Item# 120109PTE08 This is a rather rare form. Carved in the manner of Frederick Hintz tables, though absent of any brass inlay noteworthy in his works. The top is octofoil in form, featuring eight shallow dish spaces circling a large central dish space. A table of this form would typically be used as a dinner table, not for tea due to the oversized nature of the dished valleys in the top. Formed from a single piece of mahogany, crafting something of this nature was exceedingly difficult and likewise exceedingly expensive in the 18th Century. A work of this nature would be found ... moreonly in the finest London homes. Evidence of how it was formed is still visible in the piece, as you carefully look at the centermost point of each circular form- note the scar where the craftsman anchored his lathe to shave the perfect circle with raised molding. Each dish space is flanked by fruit carvings, each unique and different from the next- note the incredible crispness of each fruit, the attention to even the smallest details leaving identification of each fruit relatively easy: cherries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and plums. The table twists freely a full three-hundred and sixty degrees on the birdcage mechanism. Formed of four columns that through-taper the top and bottom, between which the shaft of the pillar comes through and is locked on with an angular through-wedge. This wedge is easily removed, allowing the entire top to lift off of the pedestal. The pedestal shaft is turned and tapers broader towards the bottom, deep stop-fluting around the entire shaft. Three cabriole legs dovetail into the center of the pedestal, exposed from beneath and actually formed such that no three-way bracket was necessary to lock the legs permanently in place. The kn

The base has an original finish and is gorgeous. The top an old refinish. The only problem I can see is a ring on the top. Please see photo close-up. The table is 28" high by 24" across. Antique Three Drawer Table or Stand - Old Finish Wood Pulls ca. 1820 - 1840

American Queen Anne Tilting Candle Stand Side Table, Rhode Island or CT c. 1790
American Queen Anne Tilt Top Candle Stand(Side Table) Probably Federal Period. Rhode Island or Connecticut c. 1790-1810 Item# 130003UHU16 This is one of the most pleasing forms we've had the opportunity to carry in some time. The top is crafted of an octagonal solid plank of mahogany. The edges squared and rigid, the glowing grains of a parallel nature to not distract from the overall form of the table. Tilting over the doweled head of the pedestal, this flanked by chamfered cleats with original hand filed iron screws in each, the table locks in a rested position with it's original clasp and catch hardware- both are undisturbed and hold the table for a firm surface. The turned pedestal is the finest part of this table, divided into carefully calculated scratched-bead bands amongst ring turnings, focused primarily over the swollen ... moreturned baluster. The legs are some of the most delicate and well carved we've seen on a table of this form, joining the pedestal in large dovetails beneath metal strips highlighted by rather distinct scalloping. The legs have a high lift, the bold knee swooping into crisply carved snake feet. This is an absolute treasure for anyone passionate about clean and unbroken lines in period American Furniture; the graceful qualities of the form are unmatched and are inspiring. It is a piece you will cherish in your collection for a lifetime. Measurements: top dimensions are 14 3/4" x 21 3/8" 28 5/8" high in rested position; 40" high tilted. Condition Report: Refinished. Two plugged screws driven through base to support leg. Coupled with some cracks and repairs to the base. One modern nail at middle of tri-form bracket under pedestal. Every other aspect of the table is entirely original, including the clasp and catch, and the screws. Simply outstanding condition. American Queen Anne Octagonal Candle Stand Antique Side Table, Massachusetts
American Queen Anne Octagonal Candle Stand Side Table Boston(note underside suggesting a Newton. MA origin) or Coastal Massachusetts Item# 130003OFF16 This is a wonderful American Queen Anne Candle Stand. Crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century during the years of 1775-1800 out of very dense and well figured mahogany. The octagonal top is uncommon and very desirable, cut from a solid plank of mahogany with edges molded of the solid. Beneath the table, a chamfered batten stretches across the surface entirely undisturbed, still retaining it's original hand filed iron screws- the craftsman was generous with screws used to secure the top, recognizing the danger only a few screws could pose to the table top when shrinking and expanding occurs. As a result, the top is free of cracks or splits, retaining the same grain display the ... moreboard was chosen for originally. Beneath the table is an old yellowed note. Secured beneath nailed plastic, reading"Frank Morton from his loving mother Mary Alice Smith, Newton Towne, Nov. 15, 1898. while this possibly attributes the table to Newton, MA, parallels can also be made to design elements in this table to Boston and Essex County Massachusetts. The pedestal illustrates the standard design of coastal Massachusetts. A long tapered pillar over the ringed urn baluster. Beneath the pedestal is very attractive and quite distinctive scalloping, first in the legs on either side of the pedestal and followed in the actual shaft. The cabriole legs lock into the pedestal in the typical dovetailed manner beneath an iron tri-form bracket. Identified as a"triangle" in price lists of the period, this still retaining it's original rosehead nails. The feet are incredibly attractive, a bulbous snake footed form with an outstanding profile that shrinks sharply into the tiny ankles of the leg. This is a piece you will cherish for a lifetime in any serious collection- exceptional in every way. It has been preserved carefully with originality preserved in nearly every asp
American Chippendale Antique Drop Leaf Dining Table, Pennsylvania or Delaware
American Chippendale Walnut Drop Leaf Dining Table. Pennsylvania or Delaware c. 1760-80 Probably Delaware River Valley. Originally One of a Pair Straight Marlborough Legs Item# 130002IWT18 The drop leaf dining table was a very prominent form in homes of the higher classes during the Chippendale and Federal periods. A working solution to the problem of balancing space with flexibility in a home that entertained company regularly. It allowed for tables to be posed as pier or serving tables against the wall, making the room large and inviting during a social engagement, these being brought out as needed to recreate a dining room. This table was almost certainly part of a pair originally. Two sets of bracket holes on one leaf evidence of clasps that would have attached to the leaves of the other table to create a solid surface. A pair of tables ... morevery similar in form, though crafted with solid board leaves, was offered at Christies in 2003( Lot 322. Sale 1189, sold as a pair for $13,145) Intact pairs of this form are rather uncommon as these were regularly broken up as they were passed down in families. The top is crafted of five boards butt-jointed with tongue-in-groove joinery assisting in all but one leaf. This probably a later solution to the uneven shrinking of the boards, secured from the underside with butterfly dovetails. The leaves hang over ruled joints, lifting on two swinging gate legs, the frame and knuckle crafted of solid oak double pinned to the square Marlborough leg. The oak rails are affixed with scattered rosehead nails to the poplar frame rails coupled with one original hand filed screw set in wells into the top on both sides, these boards joined to the mahogany front and back rails with exposed dovetails behind the gate legs. Three dovetailed walnut braces join the frame to the top, these absent several screws, the top likewise secured with three hand filed screws set evenly in wells through the mahogany front and back rails. A single thick walnut brace dovetails into either side of the botto

English George III Chippendale Late 18th Century Mahogany Tilting Side Tea Table
Very Fine English Chippendale Period Highly Figured Mahogany Slipper Foot Tilt Top Tea Table Third quarter of the 18th Century. C. 1750-70 Item# 110005LHP25 The grace of this piece is found in the highly figured top. A single solid plank of mahogany hand planed carefully to create a perfect smooth surface. A glowing deep patina shines through the years of waxed layers preserving the entire piece. Hand carved fully original cleats connect the top to the base, with four hand made screws that appear to be original, and two later replaced screws attaching the cleats to the original top. A replaced brass catch on the underside of the table top functions fully to secure the table in a resting postion; the shape of the original brass catch was circular, still evident as an impression around the current catch. The pedestal tenons through the square ... morebase. With the letters"DL" still visible at the tenon and in photos below. These could possibly be a signature of the craftsman who designed this table. The pedestal is carefully turned shaft culminates in a vasiform baluster, the three legs locking into the shaft with tight dovetail joints. The cabriole leg form is tight and sprung, the table almost poised to leap; the lines curve down and terminate in sharp well formed oval slipper feet. This is a fine piece for any home. Working easily in any number of design scenarios. In the upward tilted position, it is ideal to bring beauty to that empty corner or fill a long wall with two chairs on either side. Georgian Victorian country oak drop leaf gate leg table
Charming solid oak drop leaf gate leg table in a country style. Probably dates to around the turn of the 19th Century but hard to be sure with a table of this type. The table includes a useful drawer that looks to be original. Although it may have had a new handle added at some point in its life. Table is structurally sound for its age but has two areas of damage to the top(see pictures) and could do with a little wax here and there- i have tried to show these rather than cover them up so you know what you are getting. But they could be remedied by a decent French polisher, covered or just ignored and taken as part of the history of the piece. Typically for a piece of this age there is some evidence of woodworm but looks very old. This makes a great kitchen or occasional table. Fits neatly in an alcove or at the end of a sofa, and of course ... morethe flaps give full flexibility. Dimensions are(fully extended) 42.5 inch/108 cm x 33.75 inch/86 cm top x 27.5 inch/ 70 cm high. Fully closed it is 14 inches deep. Collection in person or a man/van from London E5(I've had to put a postage cost but it's far too big to post! Alternatively i can recommend a courier. Any questions or extra photos required let me know. Cash on collection preferred.

CIRCA 1760 CONNECTICUT WALNUT PEMBROKE TABLE W/SHAPED STRETCHERS IN 1ST FINISH
1770 HEPPLEWHITE COLCHESTER. CONNECTICUT WALNUT PEMBROKE TABLE WITH SHAPED CROSS X STRETCHERS We need to start this listing by saying unless you are a true Colonial American Furniture purist this listing is not for you and you should stop reading right here. If you are a true passion filled collector of rare& important American furniture then please. With our highest compliments we are thrilled to offer you this remarkable Circa 1770 Colchester, Connecticut walnut Hepplewhite Pembroke table with a shaped cross X stretcher& molded top and legs in its first finish. We obtained this piece from a party who had spent a considerable sum on having a coat of paint applied in the very early 20th Century removed without gouging the table or disturbing its original finish. This process is truly a time consuming art form and something we would ... moretake on with great trepidation. What this party lacked was an expert antique furniture woodworker. A asset that we are truly blessed in having. Sometime in the 19th Century, after this treasure was pulled out of a Colonial home or a Barn, the hand cut Butterfly fasteners that seam the top boards together fell out from shrinkage. This caused a seperation in the top planks which was addressed by someone inserting 18th Century screws through the top to fasten the boards down but failed to close the seperation correctly. We purchased this table several months ago and have been like expecting parents waiting for our woodworker find ample time to perform the museum grade restorations(while we are constantly interrupting him with emergency repairs) by re-installing hand cut butterfly fasteners(called"Ducthmens" in the restoration trade) and then cured the screwing of the top by the installation of walnut dowels which now fasten the top in addition to the original period screws that come up through the table's interior frame box. The end result that appears in these pictures is after the investment of over 14 hours from our conservation wood working expert& twice that
