$839.74 Shipping Condition: Used Location: United Kingdom American Queen Anne Tilting Tea Table(Antique Side Table or Candlestand) Connecticut Connecticut River Valley. Late 18th Century Plain dish-molded top ... moreover birdcage support tenoned over a compressed-ball pillar terminating in triform snake feet Item# 130002YRW19 This is a fine American Queen Anne Antique Tea Table crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century. Probably in the Connecticut River Valley. Of wonderful form and proportions, this very attractive piece is pure and relatively undisturbed, the finish being the only change over the last two centuries. Characterized by simplicity and a compression of lines, the design carefully balances the visual weight of the spherical top and oversized birdcage by squeezing the baluster as close to the legs as possible, perfectly dividing the mass of the table away from the midriff. The top is a work of art. Crafted of two solid Cherry boards joined nearly seamlessly, it was lathe-turned patiently and with great risk to the craftsman to produce a raised molded edge of the solid. The cleats are affixed to the underside of the top with symmetrically spaced original and undisturbed screws, these flanking the birdcage box structure that allows the top to spin freely. The birdcage is crafted with complex and possibly unusual construction, four baluster turned pedestals joined into the square(unidentified, possibly pine) softwood top and through the cherry bottom, the latter tenons wedged with splints for a pressured joint. Four iron bars penetrate at an angle down through the top and are twisted under the bottom, giving incredible strength and permanence to this delicate structure. An original clasp on the underside of the top still perfectly grasps the latch on the birdcage, both undisturbed with original screws still securing each(one later screw added to the clasp due to a loss at one corner) The solid cherry pedestal joins through the birdcage. Tapering as it penetrates the structure and is secured in a hollow in the top of the structure, joined with a wedged

Please note. We have a very large collection of additional images of this piece available for your enjoyment below. Description: This listing is for a Partially Composed Late 18th Century English Chippendale One Drawer Desk. Mahogany. It is a very fine piece with wonderful color throughout, a warm patina dancing across the finish. The top is rounded along the edges, a slight lip over a very wide and thick mahogany veneered surface with outstanding flamed grains. A single broad drawer sides in and out of the table with what appear to be fully original pierced batwing pull hardware and escutcheons, newly polished, and a veneered drawer facade. The drawer is hand dovetailed front and back with a thin single board bottom chamfered along the edges to rabbet into the frame. The lock is brass, appearing to be original with replaced screws, though ... moreto verify this we would have to remove the entire lock and have not done so. The table rests over four straight legs, the interior edges bevelled, both front legs flanked on either side by pierced returns in the Chippendale manner. This is a beautiful and simple desk. Bringing the beauty of the 18th Century to a very useful piece of furniture. This is not a collector quality piece, as noted below in our discussion of some additions and adjustments, but it most certainly is a fine decorator piece and is priced to meet that market. With glowing original brasses, a fine deep patina and a petite and simple form, this is a wonderful piece for any room where you seek to capture a classical air or sense of nostalgia. In excellent structural condition, this piece will last in it's current glowing condition for many generations to come. Rare Late 18th Century Georgian Chippendale Octofoil Tilt Top Birdcage Tea Table
Click for a slideshow of detailed pictures! Rare Georgian Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Tea Table England. Late 18th Century Octofoil top carved with fruit& foliage over fluted pedestal. Cabriole legs with acanthus carved knees terminating in ball and claw feet. Item# 120109PTE08 This is a rather rare form. Carved in the manner of Frederick Hintz tables, though absent of any brass inlay noteworthy in his works. The top is octofoil in form, featuring eight shallow dish spaces circling a large central dish space. A table of this form would typically be used as a dinner table, not for tea due to the oversized nature of the dished valleys in the top. Formed from a single piece of mahogany, crafting something of this nature was exceedingly difficult and likewise exceedingly expensive in the 18th Century. A work of this nature would be found ... moreonly in the finest London homes. Evidence of how it was formed is still visible in the piece, as you carefully look at the centermost point of each circular form- note the scar where the craftsman anchored his lathe to shave the perfect circle with raised molding. Each dish space is flanked by fruit carvings, each unique and different from the next- note the incredible crispness of each fruit, the attention to even the smallest details leaving identification of each fruit relatively easy: cherries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and plums. The table twists freely a full three-hundred and sixty degrees on the birdcage mechanism. Formed of four columns that through-taper the top and bottom, between which the shaft of the pillar comes through and is locked on with an angular through-wedge. This wedge is easily removed, allowing the entire top to lift off of the pedestal. The pedestal shaft is turned and tapers broader towards the bottom, deep stop-fluting around the entire shaft. Three cabriole legs dovetail into the center of the pedestal, exposed from beneath and actually formed such that no three-way bracket was necessary to lock the legs permanently in place. The kn

English George III Chippendale Late 18th Century Mahogany Tilting Side Tea Table
Very Fine English Chippendale Period Highly Figured Mahogany Slipper Foot Tilt Top Tea Table Third quarter of the 18th Century. C. 1750-70 Item# 110005LHP25 The grace of this piece is found in the highly figured top. A single solid plank of mahogany hand planed carefully to create a perfect smooth surface. A glowing deep patina shines through the years of waxed layers preserving the entire piece. Hand carved fully original cleats connect the top to the base, with four hand made screws that appear to be original, and two later replaced screws attaching the cleats to the original top. A replaced brass catch on the underside of the table top functions fully to secure the table in a resting postion; the shape of the original brass catch was circular, still evident as an impression around the current catch. The pedestal tenons through the square ... morebase. With the letters"DL" still visible at the tenon and in photos below. These could possibly be a signature of the craftsman who designed this table. The pedestal is carefully turned shaft culminates in a vasiform baluster, the three legs locking into the shaft with tight dovetail joints. The cabriole leg form is tight and sprung, the table almost poised to leap; the lines curve down and terminate in sharp well formed oval slipper feet. This is a fine piece for any home. Working easily in any number of design scenarios. In the upward tilted position, it is ideal to bring beauty to that empty corner or fill a long wall with two chairs on either side. Naturally, it functions wonderfully as a tea table or common side table, bringing elegance to any collection of furnishings. In very fine condition, with a deep glowing patinated finish and in a well preserved state, this is an outstanding find for the collector and designer alike. Measurements: Top measures 26 1/2" wide(along the grain) x 26" wide(across the grain- the 1/2" difference would be from shrinking across grains over time) 41 1/2" high in tilted position. 27" high in rested position;

American Queen Anne Serpentine Top Tilting Antique Tea Table, Late 18th Century
Fine American Queen Anne Serpentine Top Tilting Tea Table In the manner of Joseph Short(1771-1819) Probably North Shore. Massachusetts- possibly Connecticut Item# 130006RUP13 Possibly by Joseph Short(1771-1819) of Newburyport. MA or a contemporary during the same period, this fine American Queen Anne Tilting Top Tea Table is an unusually attractive specimen. The top is an incredibly broad single plank of Birch with a molded edge carved of the solid in a soft reverse serpentine. Generally these tops are of at least two boards, sometimes with a small third board making up the edge- to be crafted of a full single plank and still maintain the original cleats and smooth function is quite a feat; shrinking and expanding can often have dire consequences on the cleats, resulting in a top that is either cracked or too compressed against the square ... morehead of the pedestal to be functional. Surviving in excellent condition. The table maintains it's original untouched cleats, mostly original screws, original brass latch(and period replaced clasp on the square head of the pedestal) and original tri-form iron bracket beneath the feet. The square pedestal head is a block of cherry chamfered along the underside, the pedestal tenoned through it in a square. The solid cherry pedestal is robust with a wonderful swollen baluster beneath tight ring turnings and over three cabriole legs that terminate in raised pad feet. The legs intersect with the base in soft scalloping that works to soften the flow of the joint, these joining into the pedestal with large dovetails. Finished with a glossy and attractive wax over shellac. The worn and oxidized patina of the wood maintains it's preserved glow and character. This is an exceptional piece for serious collectors of American antique furniture. Measurements: 31 3/8" x 31" top width/height; 24 5/8" from foot to foot Condition Report: Fine mellow refinish. Cleats original and untouched. Mostly original hand filed screws still securing these to the underside of the table wi

American Queen Anne Antique Candle Stand w/ Shaped Cherry Top, Late 18th Century
American Queen Anne Cherry Candle Stand New England States. C. Late 18th Century Item# 130008FDA12 This very cute American Queen Anne Antique Candle Stand is simply a treasure. Of quite petite dimensions. It is a piece that was crafted to be truly functional and enjoyable in a room without redefining the space. It was almost certainly made in the New England States during the last days of the 18th Century; crafted of solid cherry, the top is a beautiful solid plank shaped with oxbow corners and an ogee edge carved of the solid. The bottom is deeply oxidized, revealing variations in the surface with the unfinished hand-planing marks still clearly evident along the exposed surface. The pedestal tenons through a rectangular base, this affixed to the top with three hand filed steel screws set in chip carved wells. A simple turned pedestal emphasizes ... morethe graceful flow of the table, again without over-embellishment and in harmony with the choice of cherry and the soft curve of the snake legs. The legs tenon into the pedestal with small dovetails, the feet terminating in pointed shoes. A wonderful find for any period home where a small functional table is necessary for a living space. Perhaps beside the sofa or a fine Period chair, this is a piece you will cherish and enjoy regularly for a lifetime. Measurements: top] 16" x 15 1/2" 25 3/4" high Condition Report: Top has slight warp to it. Visible in the pictures. Dings, abrasions and burn marks throughout, all visible in the pictures; cracks in the pedestal and one old crack in a leg. Finish is replaced, probably 20th Century. One leg is repaired, possibly(though highly unlikely) a replacement- it has the same even preserved patina beneath the shellac as the other legs. Retains it's original screws, one absent. Please review all images in the slideshow for a full overview of condition.

LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY NY STATE SHERATON PERIOD MAHOGANY WORK TABLE
LATE 18TH CENTURY/EARLY 19TH CENTURY NEW YORK SHERATON PERIOD MAHOGANY WORK TABLE With our compliments we are pleased to offer you this sweet clean late 18th to early 19th century period New York Sheraton period two drawer work table. This is a great work table and reasonably priced bargain for entry level collectors not ready yet for the hefty prices of more significant work tables. It is executed in a boldly grained crotched mahogany. Cherry and sap woods with great grain accents. This piece has some typical old but stable seasoning cracks on its top and reverse panels otherwise, and we make no apology or excuses for this(its a very typical issue with wide plank old growth furniture planks) It stands on four squared off legs with intricate turnings. It is 21 1/2" long, 17 1/2" wide and 29" tall. RECENT NEGATIVE FEEDBACK NOTICE* ... moreWe knew this was an eventuality as seller’s operating at the level we are. Seller’s have very few rights on the eBay sales platform except to pay thousands in fees each month& tolerate it. Nevertheless this still remains one of the safest ways there is for both buyers and sellers to interact. We have been recently victimized by an extortionist and will not dignify his remarks. We can only dispute this situation with the following: If we paid this person several thousand dollars he would remove his negative feedback and this person is required to register with the police in any community he may reside in. We are not strangers to many of you. We are deeply disturbed over this sad event& there isn’t much else we can do about it until we can obtain some judicial relief. Thank you for your understanding. This one employs solid figured single plank mahogany top boards and very highly developed American brass casters where almost always we see them with English fittings. Queen Anne Tilt Top Tea Table Candle Stand with Bird Cage Late 18th Century
There is no reserve on this lovely antique Queen Anne tilt top tea table candle stand with bird cage from the late 18th century. The bird cage support allows the table to rotate and tilt. I believe this table is maple. It is 24 1/2 inches high. The top is out of round. Proving age and measures 17 5/8 inches in one direction and 17 3/8 in another. This happens with shrinkage due to the age of the table. There is a hand made wooden peg that holds the bird cage in place. Table tilts easily and locks in position. It is in excellent condition. Price includes shipping and insurance in he lower 48.

New England Country Queen Anne Candlestand late 18th century
Very nice country c.1770 Queen Anne maple candlestand with swell/taper column attributed to Coastal Massachusetts near Boston along the Atlantic coast. Nice golden brown patina on the older refinished surface. 18.5" almost round. 27.5" tall. Judging by the holes and shadows on the underside and the paint history, this appears to have started out life as a tilt top candlestand that may have had damage to the latch or hinge block, so a previous owner had changed the cleat for the top and used screws to affix the table so it would not tilt. This is reversable, by the way.one could easily remove the bracket, remount a replacement hinge block to restore the tilt top. It is much sturdier as it is, and we have used it for 10 years. Purchased from DuMouchelle's Auctions in Detroit around then. This is a very graceful candlestand with ... morethe ridge on the top edge of the legs also reminiscent of this Eastern Mass. origins. No breaks in the legs or feet- Both top and base are original to the piece and c.1770s, so, while the changed bracket impacts the value to a small degree, not nearly as much as it would be if it had a replaced top, leg or base. Look closely at the underside, and you'll notice it as well. It gave me comfort to discover this. This candlestand is usable in any decor. With its simple, elegant lines and subtle grace. Local Pickup. Or shipping can be arranged. Should cost ~$75- $85 to send via USPS. If seller arranges shipping, buyer pays shipping costs.
