For auction is an adorable. Oval top, carved occasional gate leg table. I purchased about 5 years ago, and the table was marked Irish, 1830's. I am ... morenot an expert, hopefully you are: and can date and/or place the table. I can tell that it's made of oak, the carving is very well executed, and the table is overall in very good condition. Size- it's diminutive. Just 24" in height, 21" wide at large side of oval, 18.5" at small side of oval. When closed, table is just 6.5" across, so closed size is 18" x 6.5" I believe that the table has it's original finish; I've kept the table in a quiet corner of the house. And have oiled it a couple of times(with orange oil) while in possession. There is a'patch' on one of the'leaves' where it split some time ago. The split is visible on the table top- but in my view does not take anything way. On the underside of the table two metal straps were added for support. Have a good look at the photos, and of course I am happy to share more details on request, including any additional photos. Thanks for having a look. And good luck!

Can't find that perfect piece? Let us know. Maybe we have what you're looking for! More pictures follow below. Item SKU, MB489, Shipping, Free ... morewithin the continental US! Circa date, 1920, Condition, Excellent, Wood, Oak, Dimensions, Width- 34.75" Depth- 35" Height- 29.25" Price includes free curbside shipping! Made in England circa 1920 Oak Draw leaf Refectory style base Age separation to one leg Seats at least six Excellent. Sturdy condition, This antique pub table is differentiated from others by its base. The top is a wonderful planked oak wood that seats four when closed and six people when opened. The top is 34.75″ x 35″ when closed and opens to 57.5″ x 35″ with both leaves out. Each leaf adds just over 11″ The base is a refectory style base instead of the traditional barley twist or turned leg. This base is more advantageous to having six people sit at it though. As there are no legs to get in the way! That makes this pub table ideal for a breakfast or kitchen table and even a game table. We have rated this pub table in excellent condition. The finish is in very good shape and the oak wood has wonderful color. There is a small age separation to one of the refectory legs which happens in solid wood pieces from time to time. This does not affect the integrity of the table. This table was originally made in England sometime around 1920. The leaves function properly and it is incredibly sturdy. You can put it right into your home and use it right away. The measurement from the floor to the bottom of the apron is 24″ Antique refectory style pub table. The top extends to five feet long and can easily seat six people. The oak top is very attractive. The finish is in great shape. Here is a close up of the oak wood which has aged beautifully. The turned legs are strong and beautiful. An unique trait to this table are the decorative finials on the corners. The refectory style base has a stretcher between the legs. Here is the leg with the age separation. Great to use as a game table. Kitchen ta

This listing is for an 18th Century English George II Tall Case Chest of Two over Four Drawers. Featuring original Queen Anne period brass hardware and ... moreall original locks, circa 1740-50. It is a beautiful piece with a simple form so successful commercially that it was copied in bedroom furniture for nearly 300 years, the same form being used in case pieces today. It is of outstanding craftsmanship being formed almost entirely of solid Cuban Mahogany, today a rare and restricted wood of incredible cost, known for it's dark and dense grain formations. A carved crown molding wraps around the front and sides. Repaired in numerous areas along, completing the smooth finished top of the case. The sides of the case are two boards that blind-dovetail at the top and through-dovetail at the bottom. The face of the case features two smaller drawers over four graduated larger drawers, each with full molded lips of the solid and fully original brass Queen Anne brass hardware, an original lock on every drawer(except the bottom) with many secured with original hand forged rose head nails and a few screws. Each drawer is hand dovetailed. Uniquely with graduating dovetails- the top two drawers have two dovetails, the next drawer down has three dovetails, the third down four dovetails, fourth with five dovetails and the bottom drawer with six. The top two drawers are divided by an upright bar with a half-dovetail joint penetrating the crossbar. Each drawer is divided with full dust board divisions, mahogany along the face, pine secondary woods making up the rest of the dust board. The dust board is primarily an English invention, found only infrequently on American case pieces, and conveniently protects clothing and items in drawers below from being dirtied by the drawer action. The back of the case is made up of one original board and the rest replaced. All re-secured with newer nails- a label inside on one of the replaced boards refers to a furniture depository in England. The case rests over four bracket feet, one rebuilt,

English George II Queen Anne Lowboy Antique Chest of Drawers Writing Table c1740
Fine English George II Mahogany Lowboy Chest of Drawers Mid-18th Century. Probably c. 1740-60 Item# 130002KJJ18 This is an absolutely wonderful find for serious collectors of Period Georgian English furniture- an original George II Period Lowboy Dressing Table crafted during the middle of the 18th Century. Almost certainly between the years of 1740-60. A pure piece with no adjustments or alterations, this is a very fine selection for purists and those with a preference for utmost quality in their collection. The projecting top was reset during the 20th Century, probably the same time it was refinished in a brilliant french polish, the molded edge scalloped on both front corners to give great shape to a simply gorgeous single solid plank of golden mahogany. The front and sides of the case are joined into the legs with a glued tenon joint. ... moreAll three being single solid boards with gorgeous grain selections. The front apron is scroll cut with magnificent and highly robust form, giving emphasis to the bold projection of the cabriole knee, the resulting empty space purely architectural in form. Three small drawers slide smoothly in and out of the case above this apron, each dovetailed at the front beneath cockbead molding, the backs and bottoms of the drawers nailed with small rows of iron nails. The brasses on each drawer are replaced, though correct for the period. Stretching from the top to the top. The legs are crafted of a highly complex single plank of wood, transitioning from the square corners into the bold cabriole leg before terminating in pointy slipper feet. The back legs are octagonally chamfered. Lending a squareness and masculinity to the overall form of the table. The back of the case is a single solid plank of oak, the interior secondary structure mostly pine with some oak- it is complex interior structure, a series of pine battens nailed perpendicular to the case on both sides and doubly in the center, one with an original rosehead nail visible. This form was originally designed as a dressing tabl
English Chippendale Period Antique Ball and Claw Mahogany Game Table c. 1790
English Chippendale Mahogany Carved Ball and Claw Foot Game Table Late 18th Century. Circa 1790 Item# 130002IRP01 This is a wonderful English Chippendale Period Carved Ball and Claw Foot Antique Game Table. Late 18th Century c. 1790. It is a piece upon which no expense was spared in the production. As every design embellishment commonly associated with the period was executed on this piece. The mahogany top has a nailed quarter-round rim applied on both levels, opening on original brass hinges and untouched screws to reveal a replaced felt surface bordered by mahogany. It projects softly over the frame. This being covered in vertically grained mahogany veneers not just on the front and on the sides, but also along the entire back. This added expense of finishing the back leg surfaces and adding the thick veneers is typically superfluous and ... moreconsidered unnecessary, as the table would remain against the wall- this detail certainly hints this was a commissioned piece for a home of means. The frame is dovetailed pine, as evident when opening the rear gating-leg, the drawer blades likewise dovetailed on either side as they stretch horizontally beneath and above the drawer. The facade of the table has a single broad drawer in the center. The edges framed in tacked cockbead molding(absent on the right side) around the dovetailed oak secondary woods, the bottom crafted of five untouched oak boards nailed perpendicular to the face. The cast brass bail pull handle is absolutely gorgeous, an entirely original and entirely hand forged work of art still retaining it's original backplates, pins and nuts. The underside of the apron has applied gadrooned molding. Nailed every few inches from beneath with short iron nails, carved to match up with the outward flowing acanthus scrolls of the knee returns. The workmanship in the carved knees is exacting, the crisp flowing rococo lines simply sprawling over the sharp knees and down the leg as a natural outgrowth from the gadrooning. The softly cabriole front legs terminate in out

FINE ANTIQUE ENGLISH GEORGE III MAHOGANY WINE TABLE TILT TOP ON TRIPOD BASE
This is a listing for a very elegant fine antique English George III mahogany wine table. To be fully appreciated this piece of furniture must be put in its historical context. The Georgian(1714 to 1837) style embraces a century under the reign of three Georges and is often divided into the Palladian early and late Georgian periods. The style was partly a reaction to baroque which George I loathed. As the century progressed. The style became lighter in terms of colours and decoration. The age of mahogany dominated much of the middle part of the 18th century. The beginning of this period saw a sudden simplification of style into less ornamental and more elegant aesthetic. Emphasis was henceforth on simple, flowing lines like for example the cabriole leg. This fine example of wine table belongs to this period showing the full character of the ... moreharmony and symmetry of this delicate piece of furniture. Georgian furniture survived in numbers due to the quality of the craftmanship and timbers used. This table has mellowed with age and matured with beauty and will sit happily in the smallest home and largest mansions and will be admired by all. Buying a piece of antique is for you to enjoy and it is a good investment. The table shows a beautiful and warm mahogany revived by a recent restoration to ensure its attractiveness lasts for generations. The top is released to tilt open by a very attractive and popular- to the period. Catch which is still in full working order. The slender table is supported by a turned column and tripod base terminating onto spade feet. This item dates back to circa 1800 Dimensions: H: 69 cm(27 inches) Diameter 83.5 cm(33.5 inches) Condition report: Visually this is a stunning piece with its attractive warm mahogany and slender lines. This is an antique piece about 200 years of old and therefore even though it has been restored some signs of use and age are visible. Please review carefully the photographs of this lovely table. Fine English Queen Anne "Concertina Action" Antique Card Game Side Table c. 1740
English George II Period Flip Top Concertina Action Card& Console Table Very fine condition. C. 1730-50, featuring almost entirely original hardware(chairs not included) Item# 110106IPP18 This listing is for a George II Period Queen Anne Solid Mahogany Card Table. Circa 1730-50. It features a single solid board top of highly figured mahogany, with turrets on each corner flanking a serpentine center form. This opens easily over two original brass hinges, each locking to either side with small brass hand made original screws, worn smooth from years of use. The rear legs extend using a concertina action mechanism to allow the rear legs to reach out in a perfect square. Forming a full card table for the center of a room. Each hinge within the concertina mechanism appears to be original, with some replaced screws on the innermost hinges. The ... moresecondary framing is oak, creating strength in all portions of the mechanism to allow it to last. When the legs are pulled out, a small shelf and box are visible. This shelf has a carved handle, allowing you to carefully pull it along routed lines towards the rear legs, effectively locking the legs in a perfect square while also revealing a convenient space for game pieces. The box is hand dovetailed front and back, and both shelf and box are entirely oak construction. We will note that great care must be shown while pulling this shelf out, to not jam it or otherwise damage the concertina action- this is an incredibly special piece, in that the concertina action has been very well preserved; these are delicate mechanisms and they must be protected by carefully operating them. When the top is rested carefully over the opened legs. A card surface is revealed with a replaced broad clean blue leather. It is framed in gilt painted tooling wrapping around the perimeter. At each corner, a glowing mahogany turret and scoop for game pieces break the surface. Both opposing turrets feature brass inset candleholders, threaded to accept a candle or oil lamp fixture without fear of being

English Chippendale Mahogany Tilt Top Side Table over Snake Feet Late 18th Century Item# 110005GFF25 This is an English Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Tea Table. Of the period c. 1760-90. Of remarkable weight, it features a single solid board top, hand planed carefully to create a perfect smooth surface. A thick varnish finish covers the entire piece, glowing on the top, with craquelure throughout the varnish along the pedestal and legs. The original hand carved cleats affix the top to the pedestal with a mix of a few remaining original hand crafted screws among later added screws. A brass catch on the underside of the table top still functions fully to secure the table in a resting postion, this appearing to be a period addition improving over the old catch system- originally a dowel likely joined through the left cleat into a hole in the ... morepedestal head to lock the table top in place. The pedestal tenons through the square base. Solidly locking these two critical components permanently[not the numerous repairs to the square head of the pedestal; this appears to be the original plank with later repairs to help secure it] The pedestal is carefully turned shaft ending in a carved spiral urn, then locking into the legs with tight dovetail joints. Cabriole legs curve down and terminate in simple oval slipper feet. A piece that has seen some life. This is a fine well crafted period tea table. From a conservation standpoint, it would be beneficial to have the current finish removed chemically and a shellac reapplied. It is a fine piece for anyone with a home of colonial or Chippendale design, a sturdy work that is fully capable of regular use in the home. Measurements: Top measures 30 3/4" wide x 30 1/8" wide(across grains) 44 7/8" high in tilted position. 27 1/2" high in down position; 26 1/2" distance between each toe Condition Report: Refinished. The thick shellac crackling throughout base and particularly evident on the legs; we would recommend that the table is refinished again eventually. Ch

1700's 3pc ~THOMAS JEFFERSON~ Cherry English Hepplewhite Family Dining Table LCL
An INCREDIBLE piece of history for the U.S and Santa Barbara CA This Cherry English Hepplewhite 3 piece Dining Table is estimated to be over 200 years old! English William & Mary 18th Century Antique Gate Leg Drop Leaf Breakfast Table
William and Mary Period Oval Gate Leg Breakfast Table Late 18th Century. England; one leaf replaced, feet probably replaced. Item# 120008SMT11 This is a table of unusual form with a simply gorgeous oval oak top. Each section of two solid golden oak boards covered with a wonderful wax finish, the leaves lifting to flush on ruled joints. The leaves have original 18th century hand forged hinges, though we suspect at least one of the leaves is replaced(see notes below in condition) The frame is pinned tenon-mortise construction over intensely ring-turned legs, each stretched permanently by a box-form stretcher, from which the gating leg on either side swings freely on a through-dowel peg. The legs swing very easily and smoothly to support the leaves, each with the correlating scrape marks underneath. It is an excellent piece to match any Colonial ... moreinspired decor. While having an overall petite proportion that is very desirable in a table of this nature. This is not a museum quality work in light of the feet and leaves, but is an outstanding find for the designer and anyone looking for a deeply patinated colonial table for a rustic interior- in wonderful condition for a work crafted over 250 years ago, this will be cherished in your home functionally and decoratively. Measurements: closed) 15" deep x 33 1/4" wide x 27 1/2" high(open) 44" deep x 33 1/4" wide x 27 1/2" high Condition Report: 1. Finish is well preserved beneath a later wax finish- the finish beneath the wax is very early. Probably not original 2. Feet are possibly replaced- they are affixed to the legs. But have a very natural wear- however, the softwood(presumably pine) nature of the feet also suggests possible early replacement 3. Drop leaves are possibly replaced; at least one is certainly a replacement. Note the second cut for an earlier hinge and the slight mismatch between hinge size and cut slot. The leaves are both certainly 18th century, and there could be an argument made that the empty cut slot was simply a mistake
English Georgian Chippendale Birdcage Tea Table w/ Tilting Octofoil Carved Top
Rare Georgian Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Tea Table England. Late 18th Century Octofoil top carved with fruit& foliage over fluted pedestal. Cabriole legs with acanthus carved knees terminating in ball and claw feet. Item# 120109PTE08 This is a rather rare form. Carved in the manner of Frederick Hintz tables, though absent of any brass inlay noteworthy in his works. The top is octofoil in form, featuring eight shallow dish spaces circling a large central dish space. A table of this form would typically be used as a dinner table, not for tea due to the oversized nature of the dished valleys in the top. Formed from a single piece of mahogany, crafting something of this nature was exceedingly difficult and likewise exceedingly expensive in the 18th Century. A work of this nature would be found only in the finest London homes. Evidence of ... morehow it was formed is still visible in the piece, as you carefully look at the centermost point of each circular form- note the scar where the craftsman anchored his lathe to shave the perfect circle with raised molding. Each dish space is flanked by fruit carvings, each unique and different from the next- note the incredible crispness of each fruit, the attention to even the smallest details leaving identification of each fruit relatively easy: cherries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and plums. The table twists freely a full three-hundred and sixty degrees on the birdcage mechanism. Formed of four columns that through-taper the top and bottom, between which the shaft of the pillar comes through and is locked on with an angular through-wedge. This wedge is easily removed, allowing the entire top to lift off of the pedestal. The pedestal shaft is turned and tapers broader towards the bottom, deep stop-fluting around the entire shaft. Three cabriole legs dovetail into the center of the pedestal, exposed from beneath and actually formed such that no three-way bracket was necessary to lock the legs permanently in place. The knees are acanthus carved in the Georgian manne

English or Irish Chippendale Mahogany Tea Table w/ Ball Claw Feet c. 1755-85
Fine Chippendale Mahogany Shell Carved Tea Table Probably Ireland. Possibly England, c. 1755-85 Item# 130309DVH23 As one of the most beautiful and well balanced. Well proportioned and finely embellished tea tables we've ever carried, this is a rare and exceptional work of art. The top is a solid plank of mahogany with the rim scooped from the solid in a smooth curve. Projecting softly over the frame, the deep scalloping of the apron just dances and flows, greatly lightening what could easily be an overly heavy apron in the hands of a lesser artisan. The mahogany for the apron was chosen with care, the dense closed grain with a soft flow that follows the soft curve of the apron. Central to both sides of the apron is an applied shell carving. The table rests over cabriole legs with heavily carved acanthus leafage around a checkered knee, ... moreeach leg terminating in highly detailed ball and claw feet. The top affixes to the frame with original pine blocking, the underside of the top being inscribed illegibly. Almost certainly of Irish origin. Though possibly of British origin with Irish influence, this table remains in simply outstanding condition. Preserved and original in every way, this selection is sure to delight the most serious collectors of fine English furniture. Measurements: 30 1/4" wide x 19 1/2" deep x 27 3/4" high Condition Report: Some sunbleaching. More notable to one shell carved side than the other three sides- this side likely was facing forward. Finish preserved under later layers of wax. Light losses to edge of one shell, though the front remains crisp and well presented. Lip of top is patched in one section with a 4 5/8" long patch. Separation at one joint revealing the tenon joinery inside. All glue blocks are original, one missing, eight reglued with carpenter's glue in the last decade. Underside is inscribed illegibly. Old yellow label underneath. Sturdy, stable and overall in very fine condition. Please review all images in the slideshow for a full overview of condit

ENGLISH SOLID OAK TABLE~LATE 18C~EARLY 19C~QUEEN ANNE PAD FOOT~LOVELY~RARE~NO R! This wonderful very old SOLID English oak table. Naturally is from England and is in very nice condition for usage and its age. There is No veneer on this table.totally solid oak throughout including its two drop sides. The table is from a friend of a family who has passed on and had nothing but excellent antiques and owns an 18c homestead. The table is authentic and I guarantee it. It is sturdy and very good looking. The top has some old stains on it and little imperfections consistant with its age and character. However I left it alone and would not have anything sanded out or stripped. It is minimal and adds to its beauty. The top and the whole table have wonderful patina. I am a purist and appreciate the age and construction of this piece. The legs swing ... moreout to accomodate two leaves. The English pad foot is handcarved and very nice. Measuremnts: The table closed is not big. Which is why it is so nice to have behind a sofa or on a wall; and then.when folks come over, it opens to a truly nice table and 6 can fit to it having a bite to eat. It measures completely opened 45 3/4" long by 35 3/4" wide, and if you just had a friend over or wanted to serve some appetizers, you could open only one leaf and have plenty of room. English Chippendale Antique Game Table, c. 19th Century w/ Marlboro & Serpentine
English Chippendale Style Mahogany Game Table Composed mostly of 18th Century Elements. Probably c. late 19th Century Item# 130009GDJ23 This is a beautiful antique English Chippendale Style game table. In our assessment crafted during the late 19th Century out of parts of an earlier table- the result is a piece that closely resembles a period game table, with entirely hand chiseled and oxidized framing and structure, while lacking the authenticity and historical value of such a piece. These forms should be looked upon as a hand crafted reproduction, the old elements disregarded and the form judged on aesthetic qualities alone. As such, it is a very attractive little table, the solid mahogany top with a soft reverse serpentine that is mirrored in the apron. The apron along the front and sides follows the form of the top, the underside with ... morewonderful scrolling that flows directly into the well molded Marlborough legs. The back leg swings back as a support for the flip top, this revealing on the top an old faded leather surface for playing cards; at the same time, by opening the back leg a hidden drawer is revealed. This drawer retains an old yellowed note, supposedly bearing provenance of belonging to the author's great-grandfather- names are illegible to us. Not a form for serious collectors or those seeking any historical significance in their works. It is a decorative form that is very well crafted and is absolutely gorgeous. A period and untouched form of this table would cost somewhere close to the five-figure mark, the legs of particular attractive form and the veneers absolutely brilliant. As such, this table remains a very affordable selection that will greatly enhance whatever room it becomes a part of. Measurements: open] 33 3/4" deep x 28" high x 34" wide; closed] 16 3/4" deep x 29" high x 34" wide Condition Report: Probably somewhat composed using old parts during the late 19th Century. English Antique George III FADED ROSEWOOD Pedestal Dining Table
A fine late Georgian Breakfast table, In faded rosewood inlaid with satinwood. Boxwood& bubinga, in a desirable oval form, with a well proportioned pedestal. Graceful upswept saber legs inlaid with satinwood paterae& stringing terminating in the original brass claw casters. 54 in long. 40 1/2 in wide, 28 1/2 in high. With minor veneer repairs. And an old restored finish. c. 1800. Provenance: Purchased from Mallett. London by the Chef Boyardi family in 1985 according to Auction records when the table was purchased. Faded Rosewood is only achievable through sun fading overall which can take about 10 years. If the existing finish is stripped. This is not a bleached finish- that effect is different ... moreand wood figure is lost- Rosewood does not bleach out as quickly as other woods as well. Antique Wonderful 17thC English Period Oak Refectory Dining Centre Table
For the Decorative. Rare& Unusual“Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are the cultivated. For these there is hope. Oscar Wilde A Wonderful 17thC English Oak Refectory Table Period: Charles II/Stuart Provenance: Unknown Date: c.1680-1700 Length: 62.5 inches Width: 27.5 inches Height: 29 inches Leg Room: 23.5 inches The seventeenth century oak refectory table having a richly coloured rectangular boarded top with pegged ends on turned baluster legs joined by a low level'H' stretcher. Survives from late seventeenth century Stuart period England. The condition is hugely evocative of its life thus far and as such is not for those who favour perfection but large doses of Stuart period character. There may be later additions and there is a triangular shaped repair to the top which also has bowing. The underside of the top is a fabulous grey oak colour, expected with oak of this age. There are sections of gnarled loss to the legs, especially to one in particular and another of the legs looks like a possible later replacement as the turnings are not quite of the same proportions as the other three. The colour and patination is superb to the top and we have given her a light wax. We don’t believe any of these imperfections make the table any less practical but if one is shy of character it may be best to look elsewhere. A refectory table is a elongated table used originally for dining in monasteries in Medieval times. In the Late Middle Ages the table gradually became a banqueting or feasting table in castles and other noble residences. This example is not as elongated as some and is also a relatively small to medium proportioned example. Seating six comfortably. The original table manufacture was by hand and created of oak or walnut; the design is based on a trestle-style. Typically the table legs are supported by circumfere
