Period George III Antique English 18th Century Cherry Dumbwaiter Side Table

Description: This listing is for an 18th Century English George III Period Carved Cherry Dumbwaiter. Probably circa 1770-90. It features three levels of mahogany shelves, each shelf with a rim lathe turned of the same board. The top and bottom boards are single solid boards of full grain cherry, the second tier being a two board shelf joined with two butterfly dovetail joints from the underside. A three piece turned pedestal separates each tier, allowing the two lower shelves to turn freely. Three cabriole legs join the pedestal base with large dovetails beneath a wrought iron three-arm bracket with hand made screws locking the bracket permanently in place- the bracket and underside look entirely undisturbed with well over two ... morehundred years supporting this table. Each leg terminates in round pad feet over original brass casters, each undisturbed with original handmade screws locking each in place. This is a stunning find for that unusual corner space. Or beside a formal sofa holding a number of special collectables. With a glowing finish and fine patina, originality in ever aspect of the hardware and a petite size it is an outstanding piece for decorators and collectors alike. This will be cherished in your household by your family for generations to come. Measurements: 21 1/4" diameter of the bottom tier. 16" diameter of the middle tier and 12 3/4" diameter for the top tier. ANTIQUE 18TH CENTURY FRENCH COUNTRY KITCHEN DROP LEAF HARVEST TABLE Very nice early kitchen table with drop leaves resting on pullout rails above a single drawer. You can raise one or both leaves at a time. Tables like this were used to make daily dough on busy kitchens. But today it can serve the purpose of a kitchen table in a small cottage or even a dining table if you have no dining room– when leaves are open you can serve up to 8-10 people and when leaves ... moreare down it takes up minimal floor space. This table was carefully restored, when we did our best trying to preserve it’s original patina and time marks on the top are clearly seen. Because it is solid wood it was much easier to remove them and make this table like new. But we are museum quality restorers, not refinishers. Table is jointed with wooden pegs; uneven. Hand cut dovetails on the drawer and the way how it was constructed, along with early, rusted through nails makes us believe that it is a very old item, dating back to early 19th- late 18th century, but due to the provincial nature of this piece of furniture it just cannot be identified for sure and an exact date of its creation is unknown. It is a quality made item, well build and precisely fit, only three solid pieces of lumber were able to make it 42“ wide, which means that it’s wood came from about 300 years old tree; you will not able to find lumber this wide in stores anymore– all old trees are under protection of the French government now, hence they were almost all gone in 18-19 centuries, when France was producing only solid wood furniture. French Neoclassical"Vide Poche" Antique Side Table or Candle Stand Late 18th Century. Walnut(primary) Oak(secondary) with Satinwood Inlay Item# 130001NBU27 This is a wonderful little table. A French Neoclassical Antique Side Table crafted of solid walnut during the last quarter of the 18th Century in France. Known as a vide poche. Literally translating"empty pocket" this form is often stationed by the door, designed with a small stretcher tray for holding the keys, wallet and other pocket contents. The top has a satinwood inlaid diamond highlighting it's otherwise plain rectangular form, a small drawer with a chased-brass knob sliding out to reveal two square compartments on either corner. The left has an original tiny hand forged hinge that allows it to lift to reveal a space inside. The right compartment is hollowed ... moreand empty, possibly either to contain a candle or an inkwell(though no ink residue is visible inside the drawer) Crafted of solid oak secondary woods, the drawer is hand dovetailed front and back, nailed from the bottom into rabbets on the sides. The table is raised on pierced lier supports. These tenoned into oak rails beneath the table with two original and two replaced steel screws securing it from beneath. The strings are formed with brass tubes that tenon through the top and into the base. It has a scooped tray stretcher at the base and rests over bowed legs. The interior is stamped by it's maker. TARPIN BREMAT ALYON" possibly"ALION" A simply gorgeous work of art. Crafted with utmost precision and remaining in excellent condition despite it's fragile and thin profile. It is a wonderful find for any serious collector of 18th Century French antiques or for a decorator looking for a gorgeous 18th Century side table for interior design. All of the information below is what we have found about this piece from our research but we are not professional appraisers. We make no claims that this is authentic. If you want to know 100% sure it is real like we think it is get it appraised at your own expense. Marked around the top of the table is the words"I Cartuga De Toledo 1611" In the early 17th Century. The"I" that is on the table is actually Baybayin Script for"Ka" which means"The" ... moreCartuga is actually Cartuja as that far back in history there was no"J" letter like in today's alphabet. De Toledo" Means"Of Toledo" in Spain. So put it all together I believe the top of the table translates to" The Church of Toledo 1611. Although we do not specialize in ancient languages this is what we have found while researching this piece and leads us to believe it is an authentic piece from Spain and dates to 1611. There are three markings repeated on the top of the table. One being what I think is the Coat of Arms of Toledo. Spain where it was made, the other being the family crest of King Phillip III who was king at the time it was made and the other marking is some version of the"Fleur-de-lis. There is a fourth marking on the bottom of the table which I believe is the marking of the Kingdom of Castile, in which Toledo,Spain is the capital. This table is made from wood. Brass and copper. There is some condition flaws here or there but that is to be expected with a piece with this much age. It is missing some tacks here or there. This would be beautiful professional restored. Fine American Queen Anne Serpentine Top Tilting Tea Table In the manner of Joseph Short(1771-1819) Probably North Shore. Massachusetts- possibly Connecticut Item# 130006RUP13 Possibly by Joseph Short(1771-1819) of Newburyport. MA or a contemporary during the same period, this fine American Queen Anne Tilting Top Tea Table is an unusually attractive specimen. The top is an incredibly broad single plank of Birch with a molded edge carved of the solid in a soft reverse serpentine. Generally these tops are of at least two boards, sometimes with a small third board making up the edge- to be crafted of a full single plank and still maintain the original cleats and smooth function is quite a feat; shrinking and expanding can often have dire consequences on the cleats, resulting in a top that is either cracked or too compressed against the square ... morehead of the pedestal to be functional. Surviving in excellent condition. The table maintains it's original untouched cleats, mostly original screws, original brass latch(and period replaced clasp on the square head of the pedestal) and original tri-form iron bracket beneath the feet. The square pedestal head is a block of cherry chamfered along the underside, the pedestal tenoned through it in a square. The solid cherry pedestal is robust with a wonderful swollen baluster beneath tight ring turnings and over three cabriole legs that terminate in raised pad feet. The legs intersect with the base in soft scalloping that works to soften the flow of the joint, these joining into the pedestal with large dovetails. Finished with a glossy and attractive wax over shellac. The worn and oxidized patina of the wood maintains it's preserved glow and character. English William & Mary 18th Century Antique Gate Leg Drop Leaf Breakfast Table
William and Mary Period Oval Gate Leg Breakfast Table Late 18th Century. England; one leaf replaced, feet probably replaced. Item# 120008SMT11 This is a table of unusual form with a simply gorgeous oval oak top. Each section of two solid golden oak boards covered with a wonderful wax finish, the leaves lifting to flush on ruled joints. The leaves have original 18th century hand forged hinges, though we suspect at least one of the leaves is replaced(see notes below in condition) The frame is pinned tenon-mortise construction over intensely ring-turned legs, each stretched permanently by a box-form stretcher, from which the gating leg on either side swings freely on a through-dowel peg. The legs swing very easily and smoothly to support the leaves, each with the correlating scrape marks underneath. It is an excellent piece to match any Colonial ... moreinspired decor. While having an overall petite proportion that is very desirable in a table of this nature. This is not a museum quality work in light of the feet and leaves, but is an outstanding find for the designer and anyone looking for a deeply patinated colonial table for a rustic interior- in wonderful condition for a work crafted over 250 years ago, this will be cherished in your home functionally and decoratively. Measurements: closed) 15" deep x 33 1/4" wide x 27 1/2" high(open) 44" deep x 33 1/4" wide x 27 1/2" high Condition Report: 1. Finish is well preserved beneath a later wax finish- the finish beneath the wax is very early. Probably not original 2. Feet are possibly replaced- they are affixed to the legs. But have a very natural wear- however, the softwood(presumably pine) nature of the feet also suggests possible early replacement 3. Drop leaves are possibly replaced; at least one is certainly a replacement. Note the second cut for an earlier hinge and the slight mismatch between hinge size and cut slot. The leaves are both certainly 18th century, and there could be an argument made that the empty cut slot was simply a mistake

An American Chippendale Mahogany Card Table from Pennsylvania circa the last quarter of the 18th Century, likely crafted between 1775-85. The table is remarkably well preserved, almost entirely untouched other than regular maintenance of the finish through periodic and regular waxing- the finish beneath is possibly not original, or at least partially restored, but is very early and highly patinated. Every aspect of the table is ... moreoriginal, including the highly delicate C-Scroll returns that flank each leg- these are replaced or damaged with high frequency due to their precarious nature, particularly the left rear bracket, as this is only secured at the table frame and does not attach to the gating leg. Clearly the table remained in one area without being moved or roughly handled for much of it's life. The top is crafted of broad solid planks of mahogany. Each just under an inch thick and spanning the entire depth of 17 3/4" without a second board. The figure is warm and flowing, a rich pudding surface that is even more evident on the cleaner"game" surface. The top lifts over original hinges to rest on the gating back leg, this crafted with golden oak making up both ends of the knuckled board, tenoned into the rear left leg and pinned with two wooden pegs. A single drawer pulls out from the front with an outstanding Rococo pair of brasses, likely imports from England and fully original, the edge of the drawer lined with a thin cockbead molding to give shape to the drawer. OLD Antique Flame Mahogany American Games Table 18th C on Mid Century Base
This is a marriage of a very old beautiful table top and mid century base and legs. The top of table is amazing. It believe it is flame mahogany. There was some type of apron around the bottom edge that has been removed. As you can see there is a huge patina difference where it was. The bottom of table has never been stained. There is a mid century base that has been added to make it a coffee table height. I am not a furniture expert. But I estimate the table top to be 18th or early 19th C. The base and legs are 1950's or 60's. Table is about 35 inches across. I think it is just two mirror image boards. There is a partial age crack that is lighter colored on the bottom, but It does not go all the way across.You can't see it at all on the top. The table is in very good to excellent condition with some minor wear as shown. I have ... moretaken several close ups for your consideration. There are also a couple of small knots in the bottom of table. They are not on the top. I see no shadow of where a base would have been in the middle. This is a mystery table.Very interesting! American Queen Anne Cherry Candle Stand New England States. C. Late 18th Century Item# 130008FDA12 This very cute American Queen Anne Antique Candle Stand is simply a treasure. Of quite petite dimensions. It is a piece that was crafted to be truly functional and enjoyable in a room without redefining the space. It was almost certainly made in the New England States during the last days of the 18th Century; crafted of solid cherry, the top is a beautiful solid plank shaped with oxbow corners and an ogee edge carved of the solid. The bottom is deeply oxidized, revealing variations in the surface with the unfinished hand-planing marks still clearly evident along the exposed surface. The pedestal tenons through a rectangular base, this affixed to the top with three hand filed steel screws set in chip carved wells. A simple turned pedestal emphasizes ... morethe graceful flow of the table, again without over-embellishment and in harmony with the choice of cherry and the soft curve of the snake legs. The legs tenon into the pedestal with small dovetails, the feet terminating in pointed shoes. A wonderful find for any period home where a small functional table is necessary for a living space. Perhaps beside the sofa or a fine Period chair, this is a piece you will cherish and enjoy regularly for a lifetime. English Chippendale Style Mahogany Game Table Composed mostly of 18th Century Elements. Probably c. late 19th Century Item# 130009GDJ23 This is a beautiful antique English Chippendale Style game table. In our assessment crafted during the late 19th Century out of parts of an earlier table- the result is a piece that closely resembles a period game table, with entirely hand chiseled and oxidized framing and structure, while lacking the authenticity and historical value of such a piece. These forms should be looked upon as a hand crafted reproduction, the old elements disregarded and the form judged on aesthetic qualities alone. As such, it is a very attractive little table, the solid mahogany top with a soft reverse serpentine that is mirrored in the apron. The apron along the front and sides follows the form of the top, the underside with ... morewonderful scrolling that flows directly into the well molded Marlborough legs. The back leg swings back as a support for the flip top, this revealing on the top an old faded leather surface for playing cards; at the same time, by opening the back leg a hidden drawer is revealed. This drawer retains an old yellowed note, supposedly bearing provenance of belonging to the author's great-grandfather- names are illegible to us. Not a form for serious collectors or those seeking any historical significance in their works. It is a decorative form that is very well crafted and is absolutely gorgeous. A period and untouched form of this table would cost somewhere close to the five-figure mark, the legs of particular attractive form and the veneers absolutely brilliant. As such, this table remains a very affordable selection that will greatly enhance whatever room it becomes a part of. Antique Georgian Mid 18th Century Brass Inlaid Mahogany Tripod Table
A very good quality mid 18th century tilt top tripod table. With a one piece top, wrythen turned column, and brass inlaid feet. There are plenty of Georgian tripod tables that loosely fall into the category of mid range furniture, this one is much better than most. If anyone is seriously looking for a tilt top table this one is worth consideration. It is made from very good Cuban or Spanish mahogany, the top is cut from one plank. It measures 31 inches across and is still probably as flat as when it was finished, with good figure and in virtually unmarked condition. Like most furniture it has no makers mark, the feet are inlaid with brass, a nice bit of added detail. The only maker I know that inlaid brass into tables like this is Frederick Hintz, maybe whoever made this had seen his work. Overall height is aprox. 28 inches, general condition ... moreis very good, the legs and the base are solid, there has been some repair here. There is a very old metal plate to one foot, see images) I suspect one of the legs got broken, but the repair is good. The block and catch are good, there are some old worm flight holes here, this has been treated just to make sure. The finish is just wax, I have not French polished it. Fine Items from ALittleUnlimited Description An unusual and rare joined oak table dating to the late 1500's or 1600's featuring legs that are cut in a silhouette emulating turned legs and joined by stretchers around the base and an with a three board top. The three boards pegged together from beneath and the top pegged to the base. It was made by a joiner who did not have access to a lathe but wanted shaped legs rather than square legs. It measures 27" tall. 30" wide and 21" deep. This 400(plus or minus) year old table has a beautiful old finish and patina and shows age appropriate wear. One of the corner edges of the top has been replaced with a piece that was skillfully carved to match the jagged edge. ANTIQUE 18th CENTURY WALNUT GATE LEG DINING ROOM TABLE
This is an Antique 18th Century Gate Leg Walnut Dining Room Table. It has two gate legs on each side of the table. When the table is opened completely it measures 65 inches by 48 inches by 30 inches high. When the sides are down it measures 48 inches by 23 3/8 inches and 30 inches high. It is made with planks of wood on the top and two of the wood planks have separated. The table is still firmly attached though. Very beautiful table. It can be used for many purposes. Vintage Antique 17th - 18th Century Pilgrim Side Table - Oak
Here I have a table which is a great example of early Pilgrim construction. This side table has patina from age to die for! It is made of oak and shows all the handcrafted nuances of an early furniture builder. There are 5 Pilgrim style turned column legs. Each a slight bit different and a few cross sections of mortise and tenon joining and with all pegged construction. I acquired this piece from an estate of an old family that lived in New England. The piece has a charming simple ancient appearance with its oval top and base. It is very structurally sound and has a newer shellac(of the period) finish. Its measurements are: 22" high. Probably c. 1790-1810 Item# 1108SRE30PP This period dumbwaiter features three levels of mahogany shelves. Each shelf with a rim lathe turned of the same board. The top and bottom boards are single solid planks, the second tier being a two board shelf joined with two butterfly dovetail joints from the underside. A three piece turned pedestal separates each tier, allowing the two lower shelves to turn freely. Three cabriole legs join the pedestal base with large dovetails beneath a wrought iron three-arm bracket with hand made screws locking the bracket permanently in place- the bracket and underside look entirely undisturbed with well over two hundred years supporting ... morethis table. Each leg terminates in round pad feet over original brass casters, each undisturbed with original handmade screws locking each in place. This is an attractive piece for presentation in a corner space or beside a formal sofa. With a glowing finish and growing patina and a petite size. It is a very enjoyable selection for anyone decorating their home in a period style. Measurements: 21 1/4" diameter of the bottom tier. 16" diameter of the middle tier and 12 3/4" diameter for the top tier. Total height of 40 1/2" Condition: Fine glowing finish. Not original but nice patina. Multiple repairs to base, with images of all three sides visible in the images below. Repaired chip/break to one foot. Two small round pegs in second tier pedestal, visible in two images below. Bottom of feet bear the original handmade screws and original brass casters. Antique mahogany table late eighteenth century
This antique dining table is constructed of Santo Domingo mahogany. Which presumably no longer exists, and has a beautiful patina though there are blemishes here and there owing to the age of the piece. There is one small repair. The table comfortably seats four, in a pinch six. It consists of two demi lune tables which can be used separately if so desired as the two are connected by bronze latches. Purchased ten years ago in Beaufort SC for over $5000.00. Must be picked up on site.
