LIGHTING ENGLISH GEORGIAN MAHOGANY ANTIQUE DRESSING ... moreTABLE c. 1780-1800 Item# 1403OMN22-P A highly attractive piece. This fine English George III Mahogany Dressing Table retains a level of originality that is difficult to maintain with such a complex and practical piece. Retaining a mellowed and regularly waxed early surface, the whole highly patinated, the case makes a fine presentation. The top lifts over original hinges to reveal a large partitioned interior with various compartments, both opened and lidded, an inkwell, a pincushion and a pair of original forged tin buckets. The center boasts an original mirror in a mahogany and satinwood veneered frame over an oak frame with dovetailed corners- the dovetails of the corners are so tiny and precise, clearly formed by a highly skilled craftsman, matching the quality of the dovetails framing the oak frame of the top flaps. A pair of graduated drawers on either side flank a broad single drawer beneath three faux drawers. Each with cockbead molding framing satinwood stringer inlay around the mahogany veneer and central round stamped brass pulls. The concave shape of the skirt allows a chair to be easily pulled up to the table while retaining the austerity of an almost squared profile. The right and left sides of the case are embellished with a circular satinwood inlaid ring, lending harmony to the round profile of the brass pulls. The top of the case is incredibly attractive, the right and left sides book-matched plum pudding mahogany veneers of a deep and warm tone, well patinated and framed in the same stringer satinwood inlay- note the loss at the back left corner of stringer inlay. The whole rests over tapered mahogany legs terminating in brass casters. Two original, the other two mostly original. This is a wonderful acquisition for anyone passionate about the Hepplewhite. Few genuine English antiques survive from this period. ... moreAnd even fewer remain in such excellent condition as this table, so this is certainly a highly unique example of fine antique furniture. Moreover, the design of the table, which is really composed of three separate tables-two side tables and a central gate leg table-is not only very novel but is also quite versatile. For instance, when not in use as a full dining table, you can use the two ends as hall or side tables and do the same for the center or you can use the central table piece as a smaller dining table. FINE ANTIQUE ENGLISH GEORGE III MAHOGANY WINE TABLE TILT TOP ON TRIPOD BASE
This is a listing for a very elegant fine antique English George III mahogany wine table. To be fully appreciated this piece of furniture must be put in its historical context. The Georgian(1714 to 1837) style embraces a century under the reign of three Georges and is often divided into the Palladian early and late Georgian periods. The style was partly a reaction to baroque which George I loathed. As the century progressed. The style became lighter in terms of colours and decoration. The age of mahogany dominated much of the middle part of the 18th century. The beginning of this period saw a sudden simplification of style into less ornamental and more elegant aesthetic. Emphasis was henceforth on simple, flowing lines like for example the cabriole leg. This fine example of wine table belongs to this period showing the full character of the ... moreharmony and symmetry of this delicate piece of furniture. Georgian furniture survived in numbers due to the quality of the craftmanship and timbers used. This table has mellowed with age and matured with beauty and will sit happily in the smallest home and largest mansions and will be admired by all. Buying a piece of antique is for you to enjoy and it is a good investment. The table shows a beautiful and warm mahogany revived by a recent restoration to ensure its attractiveness lasts for generations. The top is released to tilt open by a very attractive and popular- to the period. Catch which is still in full working order. The slender table is supported by a turned column and tripod base terminating onto spade feet. This item dates back to circa 1800 Dimensions: H: 69 cm(27 inches) Diameter 83.5 cm(33.5 inches) Condition report: Visually this is a stunning piece with its attractive warm mahogany and slender lines. This is an antique piece about 200 years of old and therefore even though it has been restored some signs of use and age are visible. Please review carefully the photographs of this lovely table. English George III Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Antique Side Table c. 1760-90
English Chippendale Mahogany Tilt Top Side Table over Snake Feet Late 18th Century Item# 110005GFF25 This is an English Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Tea Table. Of the period c. 1760-90. Of remarkable weight, it features a single solid board top, hand planed carefully to create a perfect smooth surface. A thick varnish finish covers the entire piece, glowing on the top, with craquelure throughout the varnish along the pedestal and legs. The original hand carved cleats affix the top to the pedestal with a mix of a few remaining original hand crafted screws among later added screws. A brass catch on the underside of the table top still functions fully to secure the table in a resting postion, this appearing to be a period addition improving over the old catch system- originally a dowel likely joined through the left cleat into a hole in the ... morepedestal head to lock the table top in place. The pedestal tenons through the square base. Solidly locking these two critical components permanently[not the numerous repairs to the square head of the pedestal; this appears to be the original plank with later repairs to help secure it] The pedestal is carefully turned shaft ending in a carved spiral urn, then locking into the legs with tight dovetail joints. Cabriole legs curve down and terminate in simple oval slipper feet. A piece that has seen some life. This is a fine well crafted period tea table. From a conservation standpoint, it would be beneficial to have the current finish removed chemically and a shellac reapplied. It is a fine piece for anyone with a home of colonial or Chippendale design, a sturdy work that is fully capable of regular use in the home. Measurements: Top measures 30 3/4" wide x 30 1/8" wide(across grains) 44 7/8" high in tilted position. 27 1/2" high in down position; 26 1/2" distance between each toe Condition Report: Refinished. The thick shellac crackling throughout base and particularly evident on the legs; we would recommend that the table is refinished again eventually. Ch

IRISH Mahogany Oval WAKE Table GEORGE III Drop Leaf or Loper
GEORGE III. Oval Hinged Mahogany Wake Table on Square Legs c1750-1800 This Irish Wake. Loper Table, Drop Leaf table has been in my family for over 100 years. It was passed down to me about 20 years ago and has been one of my favorite pieces. Unfortunately, I need to sell many of my antiques to help pay my medical bills encurred while battling cancer. I have used this table as a sofa table as well as the perfect dining table suited for 6 people. It is the perfect width and height to be placed behind a sofa with decorative objects on it. It also works great for apartments because you can keep the sides folded down when not in use and it still looks very beautiful. This table measures: Open 71" L x 45"Wx 29"H Closed 71"L x 16"W x 29"H 6 Square legs Hinged Top The legs are simple square legs. The wood is Mahogany. ... moreBut is not burgundy in color. It is beautiful patina of light/ medium browns. Condition: excellent! It has normal wear and tear for a table that was made around 1750. To my knowledge. It has not been refinished in the last 40 years. You can tell from the photos that there are some stains and drips that have occurred over 260 years. I think that every single mark on it shows a beautifully aged and used table. Nothing looks abnormal and it has a lot of character! A wake table was used in traditional Irish wakes. The body of the deceased was laid out upon. Or sometimes under the table, with the mourners surrounding it, either seated or standing or both. The idea was to protect the body from being snatched by evil spirits. After the service, the sides were unfolded and food& beverages surrounded the casket. The celebration of life then began! I live in San Francisco and the table can be picked up if you are local. If you want to ship it. You can arrange it yourself with a local furniture shipper. I will make myself available for pick up. If ypu are a serious buyer and want to see it, please contact me. If you want additional photos please ask.

English Antique George III FADED ROSEWOOD Pedestal Dining Table
A fine late Georgian Breakfast table, In faded rosewood inlaid with satinwood. Boxwood& bubinga, in a desirable oval form, with a well proportioned pedestal. Graceful upswept saber legs inlaid with satinwood paterae& stringing terminating in the original brass claw casters. 54 in long. 40 1/2 in wide, 28 1/2 in high. With minor veneer repairs. And an old restored finish. c. 1800. Provenance: Purchased from Mallett. London by the Chef Boyardi family in 1985 according to Auction records when the table was purchased. Faded Rosewood is only achievable through sun fading overall which can take about 10 years. If the existing finish is stripped. The wood would become dark and figured like every other 1000. table one sees. A table of this calibre is only sold by premier London dealers. This is not a bleached finish- that effect is different ... moreand wood figure is lost- Rosewood does not bleach out as quickly as other woods as well. As for comperables- I'd encourage a review of similar tables on any of the auction sites or those for sale at FirstDibs to see that ones like this are being offered for as much as $68.000. MY TERMS ETC. This item is not on premises but is available for viewing by appointment. On items of importance. GEORGE III PERIOD MAHOGANY & BIRD'S EYE MAPLE PEMBROKE TABLE - LION HEAD PULLS
FINE GEORGE THE III MAHOGANY 18TH CENTURY PEMBROKE TABLE WITH RARE BIRDS EYE MAPLE DRAWERS FACINGS With our utmost pleasure we are honored to offer you this fabulous 18th Century George III English Pembroke table in mahogany with extremely rare birds eye maple drawer facings and fine period brass lion head pulls on each end of the table. This is a fantastic piece and one of the very few George III period pieces that employs birds eye maple in its construction. This table is in its original finish with fine structural integrity. It has had some professional restorative upkeep preformed on it and a repair a very old leg block split that was no doubt caused by the piece being pushed far too hard across a carpet. Its been addressed professionally. We observed it and obligated to inform you of it. We consider this as having no effect on the value ... moreof this wonderful piece. It is truly a remarkably fine piece and especially given the price we are offering it for. This piece has one drawer and a faux drawer facing on each of its ends. It has stunning turned and tapered legs and absolutely charming tiny brass leg cupped pivoting original caster wheels. Each the drawer and the faux back drawer facing are framed by birds eye maple cock bead moldings. The secondary woods are made from yew wood and pine with a wonderful red wash on it. The finish and surfaces are all in an untouched original good condition. The top has a few mars on it that are well within acceptable limits for an 18th century piece of furniture. A proper waxing will address this. Each leaf has finely crafted double wooden carved leave supports with hand carved wooden hinge systems. This table is 20" long with its leaves down, 38 1/2" long with its leaves locked up, 38 3/4" wide and stands 28 1/2" tall.
