American Queen Anne Birdcage Tilt Top Side Table, Connecticut, Late 18th Century
American Queen Anne Tilting Tea Table(Antique Side Table or Candlestand) Connecticut Connecticut River Valley. Late 18th Century Plain dish-molded top over birdcage support tenoned over a compressed-ball pillar terminating in triform snake feet Item# 130002YRW19 This is a fine American Queen Anne Antique Tea Table crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century. Probably in the Connecticut River Valley. Of wonderful form and proportions, this very attractive piece is pure and relatively undisturbed, the finish being the only change over the last two centuries. Characterized by simplicity and a compression of lines, the design carefully balances the visual weight of the spherical top and oversized birdcage by squeezing the baluster as close to the legs as possible, perfectly dividing the mass of the table away from the midriff. The top ... moreis a work of art. Crafted of two solid Cherry boards joined nearly seamlessly, it was lathe-turned patiently and with great risk to the craftsman to produce a raised molded edge of the solid. The cleats are affixed to the underside of the top with symmetrically spaced original and undisturbed screws, these flanking the birdcage box structure that allows the top to spin freely. The birdcage is crafted with complex and possibly unusual construction, four baluster turned pedestals joined into the square(unidentified, possibly pine) softwood top and through the cherry bottom, the latter tenons wedged with splints for a pressured joint. Four iron bars penetrate at an angle down through the top and are twisted under the bottom, giving incredible strength and permanence to this delicate structure. An original clasp on the underside of the top still perfectly grasps the latch on the birdcage, both undisturbed with original screws still securing each(one later screw added to the clasp due to a loss at one corner) The solid cherry pedestal joins through the birdcage. Tapering as it penetrates the structure and is secured in a hollow in the top of the structure, joined with a wedged

Late 18th Century English Chippendale Antique Desk Table, Partially Composed
Please note. We have a very large collection of additional images of this piece available for your enjoyment below. Description: This listing is for a Partially Composed Late 18th Century English Chippendale One Drawer Desk. Mahogany. It is a very fine piece with wonderful color throughout, a warm patina dancing across the finish. The top is rounded along the edges, a slight lip over a very wide and thick mahogany veneered surface with outstanding flamed grains. A single broad drawer sides in and out of the table with what appear to be fully original pierced batwing pull hardware and escutcheons, newly polished, and a veneered drawer facade. The drawer is hand dovetailed front and back with a thin single board bottom chamfered along the edges to rabbet into the frame. The lock is brass, appearing to be original with replaced screws, though ... moreto verify this we would have to remove the entire lock and have not done so. The table rests over four straight legs, the interior edges bevelled, both front legs flanked on either side by pierced returns in the Chippendale manner. This is a beautiful and simple desk. Bringing the beauty of the 18th Century to a very useful piece of furniture. This is not a collector quality piece, as noted below in our discussion of some additions and adjustments, but it most certainly is a fine decorator piece and is priced to meet that market. With glowing original brasses, a fine deep patina and a petite and simple form, this is a wonderful piece for any room where you seek to capture a classical air or sense of nostalgia. In excellent structural condition, this piece will last in it's current glowing condition for many generations to come. Measurements: 37 3/4" wide x 18 1/2" deep x 27 3/4" high Condition: Visually Outstanding Condition Significant ink/water staining to the top. Rare Late 18th Century Georgian Chippendale Octofoil Tilt Top Birdcage Tea Table
Click for a slideshow of detailed pictures! Rare Georgian Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Tea Table England. Late 18th Century Octofoil top carved with fruit& foliage over fluted pedestal. Cabriole legs with acanthus carved knees terminating in ball and claw feet. Item# 120109PTE08 This is a rather rare form. Carved in the manner of Frederick Hintz tables, though absent of any brass inlay noteworthy in his works. The top is octofoil in form, featuring eight shallow dish spaces circling a large central dish space. A table of this form would typically be used as a dinner table, not for tea due to the oversized nature of the dished valleys in the top. Formed from a single piece of mahogany, crafting something of this nature was exceedingly difficult and likewise exceedingly expensive in the 18th Century. A work of this nature would be found ... moreonly in the finest London homes. Evidence of how it was formed is still visible in the piece, as you carefully look at the centermost point of each circular form- note the scar where the craftsman anchored his lathe to shave the perfect circle with raised molding. Each dish space is flanked by fruit carvings, each unique and different from the next- note the incredible crispness of each fruit, the attention to even the smallest details leaving identification of each fruit relatively easy: cherries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and plums. The table twists freely a full three-hundred and sixty degrees on the birdcage mechanism. Formed of four columns that through-taper the top and bottom, between which the shaft of the pillar comes through and is locked on with an angular through-wedge. This wedge is easily removed, allowing the entire top to lift off of the pedestal. The pedestal shaft is turned and tapers broader towards the bottom, deep stop-fluting around the entire shaft. Three cabriole legs dovetail into the center of the pedestal, exposed from beneath and actually formed such that no three-way bracket was necessary to lock the legs permanently in place. The kn

C. 1750-70 Item# 110005LHP25 The grace of this piece is found in the highly figured top. A single solid plank of mahogany hand planed carefully to create a perfect smooth surface. A glowing deep patina shines through the years of waxed layers preserving the entire piece. Hand carved fully original cleats connect the top to the base, with four hand made screws that appear to be original, and two later replaced screws attaching the cleats to the original top. A replaced brass catch on the underside of the table top functions fully to secure the table in a resting postion; the shape of the original brass catch was circular, still evident as an impression around the current catch. The pedestal tenons through the square ... morebase. With the letters"DL" still visible at the tenon and in photos below. These could possibly be a signature of the craftsman who designed this table. The pedestal is carefully turned shaft culminates in a vasiform baluster, the three legs locking into the shaft with tight dovetail joints. The cabriole leg form is tight and sprung, the table almost poised to leap; the lines curve down and terminate in sharp well formed oval slipper feet. This is a fine piece for any home. Working easily in any number of design scenarios. In the upward tilted position, it is ideal to bring beauty to that empty corner or fill a long wall with two chairs on either side. Naturally, it functions wonderfully as a tea table or common side table, bringing elegance to any collection of furnishings. In very fine condition, with a deep glowing patinated finish and in a well preserved state, this is an outstanding find for the collector and designer alike. Measurements: Top measures 26 1/2" wide(along the grain) x 26" wide(across the grain- the 1/2" difference would be from shrinking across grains over time) 41 1/2" high in tilted position. 27" high in rested position;

American Queen Anne Serpentine Top Tilting Antique Tea Table, Late 18th Century
Fine American Queen Anne Serpentine Top Tilting Tea Table In the manner of Joseph Short(1771-1819) Probably North Shore. Massachusetts- possibly Connecticut Item# 130006RUP13 Possibly by Joseph Short(1771-1819) of Newburyport. MA or a contemporary during the same period, this fine American Queen Anne Tilting Top Tea Table is an unusually attractive specimen. The top is an incredibly broad single plank of Birch with a molded edge carved of the solid in a soft reverse serpentine. Generally these tops are of at least two boards, sometimes with a small third board making up the edge- to be crafted of a full single plank and still maintain the original cleats and smooth function is quite a feat; shrinking and expanding can often have dire consequences on the cleats, resulting in a top that is either cracked or too compressed against the square ... morehead of the pedestal to be functional. Surviving in excellent condition. The table maintains it's original untouched cleats, mostly original screws, original brass latch(and period replaced clasp on the square head of the pedestal) and original tri-form iron bracket beneath the feet. The square pedestal head is a block of cherry chamfered along the underside, the pedestal tenoned through it in a square. The solid cherry pedestal is robust with a wonderful swollen baluster beneath tight ring turnings and over three cabriole legs that terminate in raised pad feet. The legs intersect with the base in soft scalloping that works to soften the flow of the joint, these joining into the pedestal with large dovetails. Finished with a glossy and attractive wax over shellac. The worn and oxidized patina of the wood maintains it's preserved glow and character. This is an exceptional piece for serious collectors of American antique furniture. Measurements: 31 3/8" x 31" top width/height; 24 5/8" from foot to foot Condition Report: Fine mellow refinish. Cleats original and untouched. Mostly original hand filed screws still securing these to the underside of the table wi

LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY NY STATE SHERATON PERIOD MAHOGANY WORK TABLE
LATE 18TH CENTURY/EARLY 19TH CENTURY NEW YORK SHERATON PERIOD MAHOGANY WORK TABLE With our compliments we are pleased to offer you this sweet clean late 18th to early 19th century period New York Sheraton period two drawer work table. This is a great work table and reasonably priced bargain for entry level collectors not ready yet for the hefty prices of more significant work tables. It is executed in a boldly grained crotched mahogany. Cherry and sap woods with great grain accents. This piece has some typical old but stable seasoning cracks on its top and reverse panels otherwise, and we make no apology or excuses for this(its a very typical issue with wide plank old growth furniture planks) It stands on four squared off legs with intricate turnings. It is 21 1/2" long, 17 1/2" wide and 29" tall. RECENT NEGATIVE FEEDBACK NOTICE* ... moreWe knew this was an eventuality as seller’s operating at the level we are. Seller’s have very few rights on the eBay sales platform except to pay thousands in fees each month& tolerate it. Nevertheless this still remains one of the safest ways there is for both buyers and sellers to interact. We have been recently victimized by an extortionist and will not dignify his remarks. We can only dispute this situation with the following: If we paid this person several thousand dollars he would remove his negative feedback and this person is required to register with the police in any community he may reside in. We are not strangers to many of you. We are deeply disturbed over this sad event& there isn’t much else we can do about it until we can obtain some judicial relief. Thank you for your understanding. ** Beautiful Late 1800's ? Early 1900's ? Ox Cart Coffee Table India ** L@@K!
Beautiful Late 1800's? Early 1900's? Ox Cart Coffee Table India* L@K! Amazingly beautiful 18th? or early 19th? century ox cart from India w/ legs added to make a coffee table. This is a very unique. Beautiful one of a kind table. It actually looks better than the pictures represent. It is comprised of wood, iron, even brass. Showing wonderful patina from age, but appears to have been stained at some point in time. The underside of the table shows its true age, being very crude& aged. This is a very old piece still very sturdy& intact, but not sure if made in the late 1800's or early 19th century. I can tell that this table has been well preserved, and shows repair nails in areas. Again this table is very sturdy& does not contain any damage to the wood. Two sides of the table show ornate iron& brass metal work. ... moreOne side contains a tip of wood missing at the bottom, but hardly noticeable. Measures about 47" x 45" not counting jolted metal capped wood ends) about 13" in height. Notice the jolted out corners of the table capped w/ metal. Their are also 4 square slotted holes cut into the metal on each corner. Two of the corners on the same side contain cut out square holes in the metal, but not in the wood. One corner contains a cut out square hole through the wood& metal. And one corner contains a cut out square hole through the metal& halfway through the wood. Their is also a very old piece of wood that runs on the underside for support and actually runs outside of the width of the table. Don't miss your chance to acquire this beautiful coffee table, sure to be the center piece of most homes. Serious Inquiries Only! This listing is for local pickup only. I have no way to ship this item. I could meet at a reasonable distance to sell. But buyers must inquire before end of auction. I have tried my best to describe this table as accurately as possible. Queen Anne Tilt Top Tea Table Candle Stand with Bird Cage Late 18th Century
There is no reserve on this lovely antique Queen Anne tilt top tea table candle stand with bird cage from the late 18th century. The bird cage support allows the table to rotate and tilt. This happens with shrinkage due to the age of the table. There is a hand made wooden peg that holds the bird cage in place. Table tilts easily and locks in position. It is in excellent condition. ENGLISH SOLID OAK TABLE~LATE 18C~EARLY 19C~QUEEN ANNE PAD FOOT~LOVELY~RARE~NO R!
Description This wonderful very old SOLID English oak table. Naturally is from England and is in very nice condition for usage and its age. There is No veneer on this table.totally solid oak throughout including its two leaves. The table is from a friend of a family who has passed on and had nothing but excellent antiques and owns an 18c homestead. The table is authentic and I guarantee it. It is sturdy and very good looking. The top has some old stains on it. However I left it alone and would not have anything sanded out or stripped. The top and the whole table have wonderful patina. I am a purist and appreciate the age and construction of this piece. The legs swing out to accomodate two leaves. The English pad foot is handcarved and very nice. Measuremnts: The table closed is not big. Which is why it is so nice to have behind a sofa or ... moreon a wall; and then.when folks come over, it opens to a truly nice table and 6 can fit to it having a bite to eat. It measures opened 44 3/4" long by 35 3/4" wide, and if you just had a friend over or wanted to serve some appetizers, you could open only one leaf and have plenty of room. It measures 27 7/8" from the floor making it very comfortable to eat with any chair under it. See the pictures of my old chair near it. Closed: The table is 16" deep and 44 3/4" long. The pad foot is a good size and the table is NOT wobbly. NO CRACKS, NO BREAKS AND I SEE NO REPAIRS.GOOD AND SOLID. AGE: I believe this table is quite old. Late 1700s into early 1800s. See the wonderful finger joints in its original swing for the pad foot to extend leaf. See also the peg or rounded wood nails. There is NO post beatle rot! Antique American Maple Tilt Top Tea Table mid to late 1700's snakehead feet
Very old antique tilt top table. Queen Anne style. Beautiful legs and pedestal. The top has been hand refinished by me, using very fine grade sand paper to remove old blotchy finish. I did a good job gently fine tuning the top but am not happy with the lighter stain or un smooth sealer. I know the top is maple. I put a mahogany stain on it to match the stain on pedestal and legs. So the base could be mahogany or it very well could be maple as well. There have been repairs to the top of square piece of wood that sits atop pedestal, and bottom of table top where it is joined to the square piece that has the tilting mechanism. I see lots of repairs when I look at bottom of table top.newer screws, etc. I tried showing all detail in photos. I put a satin Varathane type sealer on top but it left tiny bubbles, which I tried sanding out but the finish ... moreis quite hard and won't take a"very fine" grade sand paper so there are flaws in finish. The color of top matches bottom pretty well but it is quite a bit lighter and not as opaque as the bottom part of table.the grain shows more on top. Round top measures 31 3/8" by 32 3/8" age shrinkage has caused it to be not perfectly round) The height is approximately 28" The top needs to be propped up on one end in order to get it to be level. The pedestal and legs seem to be in wonderful condition.sturdy. Not wobbly but that could be because there is that metal plate that has been hammered into place at bottom of base where the legs are joined. Don't know if that hammered tin is original or repair. Will be happy to ship if buyer arranges everything!
Antique New England Chippendale Game Table, Gate Leg, Flip Top, Late 18th Cntry
Antique New England Chippendale Game Table. Gate Leg, Flip Top, Late 18th Century ~ This is a beautiful antique table that has all the great features of the classic American Chippendale styling. It has been comparison dated as a late 18th century creation. As a 215 year old antique table. That has had frequent use in the early half of its life I'm sure, there are signs of wear and age. Some of the wood plugs that covered the fasteners in the legs and top are gone revealing what's underneath. There are some separations of the table top from shrinkage, and some cracks and nicks from accidental or careless bumps. The three stationary legs and their corresponding table rails are strong and solid. The gate leg has some loose joints, but functions well. The table appears to be cherry and perhaps walnut. The four straight legs have a fluted ... moredesign. The single drawer has brass hardware and single dovetail corner construction. The drawer bottom has a hand milled single bottom board. One back, bottom corner of the drawer has chipped away revealing small square nails used in the construction. There are recessed original brass hinges on the table top, and the gate leg mechanism is all hand crafted wood. The out of sight underside has rough honed lumber with evedance of worm holes. Please review all the photos carefully and send in any questions you have. In addition I can send you additional photos and a pre sale inspection is recommended and welcome. Thank you for your interest. Specs: 27.5" Tall; Top Closed = 36" X 16.5" Top Open = 36" X 33" Drawer = 25.75" X 12.5" X 4" Fluted Legs= 1.5" Square.
