The table is mahogany with birch inlay and mahogany veneers. It has a fifth leg that swings open to support the top and is probably from New England. The table is 36" wide by 18" deep by 30" high closed. Opened it is 36" across by 29" high. It was once a gorgeous table but has some significant problems as follows: the top is warped and there have been some rather sloppy repairs. Mostly done with a shellac stick. If you are a true passion filled collector of rare& important American furniture then please. With our highest compliments we are thrilled to offer you this remarkable Circa 1770 Colchester, Connecticut walnut Hepplewhite Pembroke table with a shaped cross X stretcher& molded top and legs in its first finish. We obtained this piece from a party who had spent a considerable sum on having a coat of paint applied in the very early 20th Century removed without gouging the table or disturbing its original finish. This process is truly a time consuming art form and something we would ... moretake on with great trepidation. What this party lacked was an expert antique furniture woodworker. A asset that we are truly blessed in having. Sometime in the 19th Century, after this treasure was pulled out of a Colonial home or a Barn, the hand cut Butterfly fasteners that seam the top boards together fell out from shrinkage. This caused a seperation in the top planks which was addressed by someone inserting 18th Century screws through the top to fasten the boards down but failed to close the seperation correctly. We purchased this table several months ago and have been like expecting parents waiting for our woodworker find ample time to perform the museum grade restorations(while we are constantly interrupting him with emergency repairs) by re-installing hand cut butterfly fasteners(called"Ducthmens" in the restoration trade) and then cured the screwing of the top by the installation of walnut dowels which now fasten the top in addition to the original period screws that come up through the table's interior frame box. The end result that appears in these pictures is after the investment of over 14 hours from our conservation wood working expert& twice that

New England Chippendale Birch Drop Leaf Table with Scalloped Leaves Circa 1780 Wow. Here is a very nice table from circa 1780. Recently picked it up at a high end decorative arts catalog sale in PA. The table was described as being ca 1780 and as being made in New England. What I think makes is quite unique is the scalloped leaves on the table. Have come across this design very rarely in my 35 years of furniture dealing. The table appears to be made of birch wood. You be the judge of the wood type. It just has a great sheen and glow to the tabletop. Check out the one pic with a shot of the entire top with the leaves up. Just awesome. Great legs on this table as well with the design of them, not just squared out legs. I suspect this table originally belonged to someone of some stature. The top has dowel plugs where the legs and frame are attached ... moreto it. One side of the main top appears to have been mended at one time and a nice job of doing it was performed. The main top where it was pieced together has the seams coming apart. That is not splitting of the wood. A good master carpenter could fix that issue quite easily. The table is 38.5" long by 14-3/8" across with the leaves down. The table is 27.5" tall. With the leaves up. The table is 40.5" across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Make sure that this table meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. The item can be returned. Early mahogany pembroke table in very good condition. Probably Philadelphia. Original brass caps on each leg. String lightwood inlay on the selvedge of the top and drop leaves. Pine secondary wood. There is an age split on one of the top corners. Refer to the photos for detail. There is also a ring that goes through the finish on one drop leaf from what appears to be the outline of a flowerpot that sat on it. Or a country primitive house with a more formal parlour. Top has been off of the center mounting block. And reglued. No real damage done, the block probably dried out and cracked, then somebody reinforced with dowel rods, and reset the block back onto the pedestal. This repair was most likely done 30-40 years ago. Antique American Circa 1725 Green Painted Octagonal Trestle Foot Table
Click photos for larger image! Description& Condition: Up for sale is this rare American pilgrim octagonal painted pine trestle foot candlestand table. It has original apple green paint with octagonal shaft and thick octagonal scrubbed top. It is in good condition given it's age. The top has had glue repairs to cracks and the trestle foot has had some foam insulation repair to insect damage because it was in need of something to keep it solid. I am sure someone will repair this rare table properly. It dates from around 1725 or so and is certainly a rare survivor! It measures 28 3/4" tall and top 13 1/2" in diameter. Description Nice small Jacobean gate-leg table. Made in England circa 17th century. Dark oak finish with excellent turnings. Provenance: Northeast Auctions. Portsmouth, NH. Dimensions 25 1/4 inches high. 33 inches wide. 12.5 inches deep with the leaves down. 40 inches deep with the top open. Condition As expected for its age. The table has appropriate wear throughout that you can see in the pictures. There is also a break in a board on one leaf. This is certainly repairable if you choose.
