The base has been refinished but the top has an original surface with a new coat of french polish. American New England Carved Cherry Tilt Candle Stand Candlestand Side Tea Table
American New England Carved Cherry Candlestand Side Table c. 1790-1810 Incredible carved pedestal with a"la croix pattée" repeating motif Sweeping legs with raised acanthus carvings over ball feet Item# 120011EWQ24 This is a remarkable candle stand table. Crafted in the New England states of early America, probably during the last years of the 18th Century, possibly as late as 1810. The shapely rectangular form top is rounded and notched at each corner, giving it a stilted flow that aligns with the overall appeal of the table. Rotating smoothly on a doweled mechanism, the table tilts from a fully functional tea table or side table to be a space conscious presentation piece, revealing the full beauty of the solid plank cherry top while bringing visual interest to a corner of the room. The pedestal is an absolute work of art. ... moreA practice in patience from a very steady and skilled hand. It is crafted with long flawless rows of a repeating" la croix pattée" motif. Carved deeply and perfectly along the length of the turned shaft. The Cross pattée, also referred to as the cross formée, literally translated from the French"la croix pattée" as"The Footed Cross" is primarily associated as a Christian symbol. Sometimes used by military organizations in Christian Nations, commonly associated with the Crusades and royalty of Britain, the symbol evokes the idea of a noble ideal. This is topped and footed by tight swirls of ring turnings. The legs have a wonderful swooping motion. Flowing smoothly from the base into ball turned little wooden feet, each fully original. Along the top of the entire leg is a smooth raised acanthus form carving. Each leg is locked into the pedestal using a hand forged tri-bracket with many original nails, all three joining together where the pedestal rounds with deep fluting. This is a stunning and quite unique table. Probably crafted by an artisan of low volume for a more rural market. The"mistake" of the top could suggest t

Antique English Mahogany Tilt Top Candle Stand Circa 1770
Antique English Mahogany Tilt Top Candle Stand Circa 1770 Description: A lovely English George III mahogany candlestand. Circa 1770. The table features a round dish top over a turned pedestal base with three cabriole legs ending in snake feet. It has a fine old finish with great color and patination. The base has an original finish and is gorgeous. The top an old refinish. The only problem I can see is a ring on the top. Please see photo close-up. The table is 28" high by 24" across. It is guaranteed to be as described. A note to our international buyers: We welcome international buyers but please be aware that any and all import duties. American Queen Anne Tilting Candle Stand Side Table, Rhode Island or CT c. 1790
American Queen Anne Tilt Top Candle Stand(Side Table) Probably Federal Period. Rhode Island or Connecticut c. 1790-1810 Item# 130003UHU16 This is one of the most pleasing forms we've had the opportunity to carry in some time. The top is crafted of an octagonal solid plank of mahogany. The edges squared and rigid, the glowing grains of a parallel nature to not distract from the overall form of the table. Tilting over the doweled head of the pedestal, this flanked by chamfered cleats with original hand filed iron screws in each, the table locks in a rested position with it's original clasp and catch hardware- both are undisturbed and hold the table for a firm surface. The turned pedestal is the finest part of this table, divided into carefully calculated scratched-bead bands amongst ring turnings, focused primarily over the swollen ... moreturned baluster. The legs are some of the most delicate and well carved we've seen on a table of this form, joining the pedestal in large dovetails beneath metal strips highlighted by rather distinct scalloping. The legs have a high lift, the bold knee swooping into crisply carved snake feet. This is an absolute treasure for anyone passionate about clean and unbroken lines in period American Furniture; the graceful qualities of the form are unmatched and are inspiring. It is a piece you will cherish in your collection for a lifetime. Measurements: top dimensions are 14 3/4" x 21 3/8" 28 5/8" high in rested position; 40" high tilted. Condition Report: Refinished. Two plugged screws driven through base to support leg. Coupled with some cracks and repairs to the base. One modern nail at middle of tri-form bracket under pedestal. Every other aspect of the table is entirely original, including the clasp and catch, and the screws. Simply outstanding condition. Please review all images in the slideshow for a more full overview of condition. 7:ce.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp*14%3E7%3Ace-13da3157312-0xff-

American Queen Anne Octagonal Candle Stand Antique Side Table, Massachusetts
American Queen Anne Octagonal Candle Stand Side Table Boston(note underside suggesting a Newton. MA origin) or Coastal Massachusetts Item# 130003OFF16 This is a wonderful American Queen Anne Candle Stand. Crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century during the years of 1775-1800 out of very dense and well figured mahogany. The octagonal top is uncommon and very desirable, cut from a solid plank of mahogany with edges molded of the solid. Beneath the table, a chamfered batten stretches across the surface entirely undisturbed, still retaining it's original hand filed iron screws- the craftsman was generous with screws used to secure the top, recognizing the danger only a few screws could pose to the table top when shrinking and expanding occurs. As a result, the top is free of cracks or splits, retaining the same grain display the ... moreboard was chosen for originally. Beneath the table is an old yellowed note. Secured beneath nailed plastic, reading"Frank Morton from his loving mother Mary Alice Smith, Newton Towne, Nov. 15, 1898. while this possibly attributes the table to Newton, MA, parallels can also be made to design elements in this table to Boston and Essex County Massachusetts. The pedestal illustrates the standard design of coastal Massachusetts. A long tapered pillar over the ringed urn baluster. Beneath the pedestal is very attractive and quite distinctive scalloping, first in the legs on either side of the pedestal and followed in the actual shaft. The cabriole legs lock into the pedestal in the typical dovetailed manner beneath an iron tri-form bracket. American Queen Anne Antique Candle Stand w/ Shaped Cherry Top, Late 18th Century
American Queen Anne Cherry Candle Stand New England States. C. Late 18th Century Item# 130008FDA12 This very cute American Queen Anne Antique Candle Stand is simply a treasure. Of quite petite dimensions. It is a piece that was crafted to be truly functional and enjoyable in a room without redefining the space. It was almost certainly made in the New England States during the last days of the 18th Century; crafted of solid cherry, the top is a beautiful solid plank shaped with oxbow corners and an ogee edge carved of the solid. The bottom is deeply oxidized, revealing variations in the surface with the unfinished hand-planing marks still clearly evident along the exposed surface. The pedestal tenons through a rectangular base, this affixed to the top with three hand filed steel screws set in chip carved wells. A simple turned pedestal emphasizes ... morethe graceful flow of the table, again without over-embellishment and in harmony with the choice of cherry and the soft curve of the snake legs. The legs tenon into the pedestal with small dovetails, the feet terminating in pointed shoes. A wonderful find for any period home where a small functional table is necessary for a living space. Perhaps beside the sofa or a fine Period chair, this is a piece you will cherish and enjoy regularly for a lifetime. Measurements: top] 16" x 15 1/2" 25 3/4" high Condition Report: Top has slight warp to it. Visible in the pictures. Dings, abrasions and burn marks throughout, all visible in the pictures; cracks in the pedestal and one old crack in a leg. Finish is replaced, probably 20th Century. One leg is repaired, possibly(though highly unlikely) a replacement- it has the same even preserved patina beneath the shellac as the other legs. Retains it's original screws, one absent. Please review all images in the slideshow for a full overview of condition.

American Queen Anne Antique Table Candle Stand, Cherry, prob. CT c. 1790-1810
American Queen Anne Cherry Candle Stand[Antique Side Table] Federal Period. Late 18th Century c. 1790-1810 Item# 130010AQS26 This is an absolute treasure. A very fine American Queen Anne Candle Stand crafted during the late 18th Century in the New England States- almost certainly Connecticut. The form is simple but excellent, the octagonal top in two boards of solid cherry with a recessed molded edge framing the smooth and undistracted grains of the top. The underside edge of the top is chamfered to lighten and even sharpen the shape of the top against the eye. Highly successful, the table floats with exacting proportions and absolutely no excess. Supported over a precisely turned pedestal, this swells only softly at the middle in a turned ring, based and crested by a multitude of rings before it tenons into the solid cherry cleat under the ... moretable top. The cleat too is bevelled along the edges and affixed to the top with a set of original and untouched hand filed steel screws. The table rests over three ogival legs, each tenoned into the base with a small dovetail and capped with an original tri-form bracket with untouched original screws still holding it firmly in place; the legs snake along in a smooth taper in plain toes, two of these repaired due to weakness inherent in the design. A neat little row of chip-carved impressions circle the base between each leg. With a dry and highly attractive surface under old layers of wax, the patina is finely preserved and quite nice. Pleasing in every way. This handsome table is a very fine acquisition for any serious collector of American furniture- remaining in nearly untouched condition, it will be cherished in your collection for a lifetime. Measurements: 17 1/2" along grain. 18" wide against grain, 28 1/8" high; 21" between toes Condition Report: Two feet repaired. Coupled with repairs to base behind feet(plugged screws) Original bracket, all screws original- hardware and cleat are untouched. Dry surface throughout with some traces of white paint in

Pair of Georgian Antique Candle Stand Tables, England or Ireland c. 1790-1820
CHEST OF DRAWERS ANTIQUE CHAIRS TABLES BRONZE SCULPTURES FINE PAINTINGS SCHOOL OF ORIGIN SUBJECT LAMPS. LIGHTING PAIR OF GEORGIAN MAHOGANY CANDLESTANDS. ENGLAND OR IRELAND With finely carved waterleaf pilasters; Early 19th Century Item# 130012IQP02 This is a somewhat rare pair of candle stands. Almost certainly from England or Ireland c. 1790-1820. They were used functionally in the home as a lighting device, elevating candles to allow the entire room to enjoy their minuscule illumination. The top is surrounded by a raised lip, turned from the solid and edged with a scalloped rim. Raised over a long and only subtly swelled pillar, the pair are embellished with finely carved waterleaf decorations around the base of the pillar; the waterleaf, sometimes mistaken for an acanthus carving, has a long undulating profile with wavy edges and a thin ... morestem along the center. It's form is inspired by an ancient aquatic foliage that is currently unknown. It is perhaps most associated with carved furniture of Salem, Massachusetts, employed extensively by carvers in that region for it's distinct Neoclassical appeal- a development over the Rococo preference for acanthus and other swirling foliage. The ogival legs are carved along the knee, each terminating in a hairy paw with tiny nailed toes peeking out along the edges. These legs are affixed to the base with broad dovetails, negating the need for an iron bracket in their sheer girth. Quite attractive and easily incorporated into Chippendale/Rococo and Neoclassical decor. They are a delightful pair with presence and of skilled craftsmanship. They are precisely carved and of fine proportions. Measurements: 37 1/8" high; tops are 8 7/8" x 9" depth toe to toe is 16 1/2" Condition Report: Both tops have damage and cracking. One with a large lobe of loss and a repaired lobe; scars and discoloration. Both are refinished and have been regularly waxed for a well developed patina over a somewhat sun-mellowed surface. Numerous dings, abrasions and scars to the l

Antique QUEEN ANNE Candle Stand / Table Mahogany - Excellent Original Condition
18th Century Piece Beautiful& All Original! From mom's collection- This table was one of mom's prized possessions- she cared for it as much as she cared for us kids! I grew up with"Don't set that on that table! I've done the same with my kids. This Queen Anne has the traditional padded slipper/snake feet and tripod base. The top- a single. Square board- is attached to the shaft utilizing a chamferred cleat. Its slender shaft tapers into ringed urn turnings at the top of the pedastal. The cabriole legs lock into the pedestal beneath an iron tri-form bracket. The Queen Anne period was formally from 1730-1790. Some were made in the early 1800s but those were known for straighter lines. And early Queen Anne was typically mahogany so am assuming this table is too. As for condition- this table is in WONDERFUL condition. ... moreWe have provided several pictures to show you this piece from all sides. It stands tall and tight- no wobble. It's solid! The top has an aged patina with a smooth surface; there is a knick in one edge that you can see in the pictures. There are no repairs! Measurements: The table top is 16" square. Table stands 27 1/2" tall. Please review our pictures carefully- and contact us if you have any questions. This is a special table and I am parting with it only cuz we are down-sizing due to relocation. Thank you. PAYMENT: Paypal. Credit, debit. thank you. SHIPPING: Prompt& secure in the US only. We will ship this by UPS Ground insured. And if you live close. We will arrange FREE pick-up.
