Entirely original hardware, c. 1790-1800 Item# 130011MIP03 This is a fine English George III Period Inlaid Mahogany Pembroke Table c. the last quarter of the 18th Century. Crafted from solid mahogany and mahogany veneers. Everything about this fine table speaks quality and attention to detail. The craftsmanship is impeccable, the construction precise and the wood of most choice quality for pristine presentation. The large rectangular top becomes ovular when the demilune leaves raise over their original iron hinges to rest on a pair of wings that swing out from the frame of the table on either side, resulting in a large and brilliant cognac mahogany surface edged by satinwood inlay. The ribbed and glowing quality of the mahogany cannot be underscored enough. Utilizing secondary oak woods to make up the frame for the drawer, the bottom board protected beneath runner strips and tacked with four iron brads along the back edge. The lock is probably original, though we have not removed it to be certain, the key now absent. On the other side of the table, the wood is crafted to create the illusion of a drawer where one does not exist. Flanking the drawer and faux-drawer are satinwood veneered panels surrounded by stringer inlay, the apron of the table lined in a thick satinwood border that completes the square profile of the table top. Resting over four square tapering legs. The table terminates on bright and original brass caster feet. The underside of the structure remains untouched, the iron rose head nails affixing the underside of the dustboard to the frame of the table with a pair of corner blocks securing the legs behind the faux-drawer. English George II Queen Anne Lowboy Antique Chest of Drawers Writing Table c1740
Fine English George II Mahogany Lowboy Chest of Drawers Mid-18th Century. Probably c. 1740-60 Item# 130002KJJ18 This is an absolutely wonderful find for serious collectors of Period Georgian English furniture- an original George II Period Lowboy Dressing Table crafted during the middle of the 18th Century. Almost certainly between the years of 1740-60. A pure piece with no adjustments or alterations, this is a very fine selection for purists and those with a preference for utmost quality in their collection. The projecting top was reset during the 20th Century, probably the same time it was refinished in a brilliant french polish, the molded edge scalloped on both front corners to give great shape to a simply gorgeous single solid plank of golden mahogany. The front and sides of the case are joined into the legs with a glued tenon joint. ... moreAll three being single solid boards with gorgeous grain selections. The front apron is scroll cut with magnificent and highly robust form, giving emphasis to the bold projection of the cabriole knee, the resulting empty space purely architectural in form. Three small drawers slide smoothly in and out of the case above this apron, each dovetailed at the front beneath cockbead molding, the backs and bottoms of the drawers nailed with small rows of iron nails. The brasses on each drawer are replaced, though correct for the period. Stretching from the top to the top. The legs are crafted of a highly complex single plank of wood, transitioning from the square corners into the bold cabriole leg before terminating in pointy slipper feet. The back legs are octagonally chamfered. Lending a squareness and masculinity to the overall form of the table. The back of the case is a single solid plank of oak, the interior secondary structure mostly pine with some oak- it is complex interior structure, a series of pine battens nailed perpendicular to the case on both sides and doubly in the center, one with an original rosehead nail visible. This form was originally designed as a dressing tabl
Period George III Antique English 18th Century Cherry Dumbwaiter Side Table
Please note. We have a very large collection of additional images of this piece available for your enjoyment below. Description: This listing is for an 18th Century English George III Period Carved Cherry Dumbwaiter. Probably circa 1770-90. It features three levels of mahogany shelves, each shelf with a rim lathe turned of the same board. The top and bottom boards are single solid boards of full grain cherry, the second tier being a two board shelf joined with two butterfly dovetail joints from the underside. A three piece turned pedestal separates each tier, allowing the two lower shelves to turn freely. Three cabriole legs join the pedestal base with large dovetails beneath a wrought iron three-arm bracket with hand made screws locking the bracket permanently in place- the bracket and underside look entirely undisturbed with well over two ... morehundred years supporting this table. Each leg terminates in round pad feet over original brass casters, each undisturbed with original handmade screws locking each in place. This is a stunning find for that unusual corner space. Or beside a formal sofa holding a number of special collectables. With a glowing finish and fine patina, originality in ever aspect of the hardware and a petite size it is an outstanding piece for decorators and collectors alike. This will be cherished in your household by your family for generations to come. Measurements: 21 1/4" diameter of the bottom tier. 16" diameter of the middle tier and 12 3/4" diameter for the top tier. Total height of 40 1/2" Condition: Visually Outstanding Condition Fine glowing finish. Not original but wonderful patina. Multiple repairs to base, with images of all three sides visible in the images below. Repaired chip/break to one foot. Two small round pegs in second tier pedestal, visible in two images below. Bottom of feet bear the original handmade screws and original brass casters. The middle tier shelf is two board with butterfly dovetail joints. Three-arm bracket original with all original hand cra
FINE ANTIQUE ENGLISH GEORGE III MAHOGANY WINE TABLE TILT TOP ON TRIPOD BASE
This is a listing for a very elegant fine antique English George III mahogany wine table. To be fully appreciated this piece of furniture must be put in its historical context. The Georgian(1714 to 1837) style embraces a century under the reign of three Georges and is often divided into the Palladian early and late Georgian periods. The style was partly a reaction to baroque which George I loathed. As the century progressed. The style became lighter in terms of colours and decoration. The age of mahogany dominated much of the middle part of the 18th century. The beginning of this period saw a sudden simplification of style into less ornamental and more elegant aesthetic. Emphasis was henceforth on simple, flowing lines like for example the cabriole leg. This fine example of wine table belongs to this period showing the full character of the ... moreharmony and symmetry of this delicate piece of furniture. Georgian furniture survived in numbers due to the quality of the craftmanship and timbers used. This table has mellowed with age and matured with beauty and will sit happily in the smallest home and largest mansions and will be admired by all. Buying a piece of antique is for you to enjoy and it is a good investment. The table shows a beautiful and warm mahogany revived by a recent restoration to ensure its attractiveness lasts for generations. English George III Chippendale Late 18th Century Mahogany Tilting Side Tea Table
Very Fine English Chippendale Period Highly Figured Mahogany Slipper Foot Tilt Top Tea Table Third quarter of the 18th Century. C. 1750-70 Item# 110005LHP25 The grace of this piece is found in the highly figured top. A single solid plank of mahogany hand planed carefully to create a perfect smooth surface. A glowing deep patina shines through the years of waxed layers preserving the entire piece. Hand carved fully original cleats connect the top to the base, with four hand made screws that appear to be original, and two later replaced screws attaching the cleats to the original top. A replaced brass catch on the underside of the table top functions fully to secure the table in a resting postion; the shape of the original brass catch was circular, still evident as an impression around the current catch. The pedestal tenons through the square ... morebase. With the letters"DL" still visible at the tenon and in photos below. These could possibly be a signature of the craftsman who designed this table. The pedestal is carefully turned shaft culminates in a vasiform baluster, the three legs locking into the shaft with tight dovetail joints. The cabriole leg form is tight and sprung, the table almost poised to leap; the lines curve down and terminate in sharp well formed oval slipper feet. This is a fine piece for any home. Working easily in any number of design scenarios. In the upward tilted position, it is ideal to bring beauty to that empty corner or fill a long wall with two chairs on either side. Naturally, it functions wonderfully as a tea table or common side table, bringing elegance to any collection of furnishings. In very fine condition, with a deep glowing patinated finish and in a well preserved state, this is an outstanding find for the collector and designer alike. Measurements: Top measures 26 1/2" wide(along the grain) x 26" wide(across the grain- the 1/2" difference would be from shrinking across grains over time) 41 1/2" high in tilted position. 27" high in rested position;
English George III Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Antique Side Table c. 1760-90
English Chippendale Mahogany Tilt Top Side Table over Snake Feet Late 18th Century Item# 110005GFF25 This is an English Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Tea Table. Of the period c. 1760-90. Of remarkable weight, it features a single solid board top, hand planed carefully to create a perfect smooth surface. A thick varnish finish covers the entire piece, glowing on the top, with craquelure throughout the varnish along the pedestal and legs. The original hand carved cleats affix the top to the pedestal with a mix of a few remaining original hand crafted screws among later added screws. A brass catch on the underside of the table top still functions fully to secure the table in a resting postion, this appearing to be a period addition improving over the old catch system- originally a dowel likely joined through the left cleat into a hole in the ... morepedestal head to lock the table top in place. The pedestal tenons through the square base. Solidly locking these two critical components permanently[not the numerous repairs to the square head of the pedestal; this appears to be the original plank with later repairs to help secure it] The pedestal is carefully turned shaft ending in a carved spiral urn, then locking into the legs with tight dovetail joints. Cabriole legs curve down and terminate in simple oval slipper feet. A piece that has seen some life. This is a fine well crafted period tea table. From a conservation standpoint, it would be beneficial to have the current finish removed chemically and a shellac reapplied. It is a fine piece for anyone with a home of colonial or Chippendale design, a sturdy work that is fully capable of regular use in the home. Measurements: Top measures 30 3/4" wide x 30 1/8" wide(across grains) 44 7/8" high in tilted position. 27 1/2" high in down position; 26 1/2" distance between each toe Condition Report: Refinished. The thick shellac crackling throughout base and particularly evident on the legs; we would recommend that the table is refinished again eventually. Ch

English George II Chippendale Walnut Ball Claw Antique Drop Leaf Table c. 1760
GEORGE II WALNUT DROP LEAF TABLE OVER BALL AND CLAW FEET England. Mid 18th Century, probably c. 1760 Item# 411BIR15P This table is noteworthy for it's very attractive size. The depth and quality of the patina and finish and the particularly handsome feet. Resting over handsomely carved ball and claws, each foot is full of life with the raptor talons stretching around the oblong sphere, the sharp nails cut with utmost realism as they scratch at the floor over the taunt tendons that extend through the leg of the foot. The two drop leaves and the top are crafted of solid planks of walnut(possibly a blonde mahogany finished in a lighter pigment, though the swirls of grain suggest walnut without doing any more specific testing) the edges of the top ruled to allow the leaves to easily lift over their original wrought iron untouched hinges and ... moresettle into place without a gap. These rest on gating legs, the swinging leg with an oak or elm secondary wood tenoned into the leg and pinned in place, rotating on an angular knuckle joint with a steel rod anchor. The frame is pine, dovetailed along the exposed gating edge and pinned in the stationary legs with later added blocking to more fully secure the joint. The result is quite effective, the table having remained in pristine condition after well over two hundred years of active use. It is particularly attractive as a console, stationed against the wall beneath a portrait or mirror in a hallway or side wall. However, it still remains a very practical and useful piece in it's original function, as a breakfast or gaming table that could be easily opened to entertain company and then put neatly away against the wall after the morning tea or evening festivities were complete. For any serious collector of fine English furniture, this is a pristine example with very minimal restoration and an absolutely gorgeous patina that will certainly be a cherished part of your collection for a lifetime. Measurements: 15 1/4" D x 36" W x 27 13/16" H when leaves are clos

There is some veneer bubbling on the back panel of the skirt, not loose. Minor dings and wear& use marks throughout. 4 small shrinkage splits in the top. None are loose, but they are there. Fine English George II Chippendale Mahogany Ball Claw Antique Game Table c. 1730
EXCEPTIONAL ENGLISH GEORGE II MAHOGANY BALL AND CLAW GAME TABLE With turreted corners. The top with candle holders and chip wells, remaining in outstanding condition England. C. 1730 Item# 411JPY15X This precious example of English craftsmanship is exquisite in every way- no expense was spared in what was almost certainly a commissioned piece. And clearly great care has been shown in the handling of the table over the last two hundred and eighty odd years. The top of the table is turreted to conform with the form of the apron, being planed from a single plank of handsomely grained mahogany. It lifts over original hinges on the sides to lower onto the rear legs, these pulling out of the frame on lopers to create a four legged table structure. The result is a very stable card playing surface, which probably accounts at least partially for the ... moreexcellent state of preservation we find in it today. The card surface is a green felt top(replaced and discolored) with candle holders on each turreted corner with four chip wells sunk into the top. Finally, the top also lifts over original hinges to reveal an interior compartment for storing games. The apron is veneered with vertical grained mahogany. The centermost with an original pierced brass escutcheon around the keyhole. The table is raised over bold cabriole legs with the most wonderful acanthus carving along the front knees- these carvings are deep and fluid, full of life and realism, both tapering into the leg which terminates in elegant carved claws grasping a sphere. The underside of the table reveals oversize blocking inside of the front legs with all returns original but one(rear left leg) For any serious collector of fine English antiques. This is an outstanding investment grade acquisition that in every way elevates whatever interior it becomes a part of. It is exceedingly beautiful and in very fine condition- it will certainly be a most cherished part of your collection. Literature: British Antique Furniture. John Andrews, p. 288- a very similar exam
