Circa 1830- 1840. The top features a very good quality black and gold three-panel gold-tooled leather insert to the top. The leather is flanked by a rosewood surround with a thumb moulded edged over hang. Below the top. There are two elegant cock beaded drawer fronts, which feature the original brass shaped knobs. Each drawer features the original working lock and a key. The hand-dovetailed drawers are lined in mahogany(a good sign of quality) The front and sides of the table are decorated with stunning rosewood figuration. The table is supported by two decorative shaped carved trestle legs to each end. Which are united by a central turned stretcher. The legs terminate in the original brass and brown ceramic mug castors. This table can be freestanding or sit against a wall in a library or office.
