$110.20 Shipping Condition: Used Location: Hurley, United States For auction is an adorable. Oval top, carved occasional gate leg table. I purchased about 5 years ago, and the table was marked Irish, 1830's. I am ... morenot an expert, hopefully you are: and can date and/or place the table. I can tell that it's made of oak, the carving is very well executed, and the table is overall in very good condition. Size- it's diminutive. Just 24" in height, 21" wide at large side of oval, 18.5" at small side of oval. When closed, table is just 6.5" across, so closed size is 18" x 6.5" I believe that the table has it's original finish; I've kept the table in a quiet corner of the house. And have oiled it a couple of times(with orange oil) while in possession. There is a'patch' on one of the'leaves' where it split some time ago. The split is visible on the table top- but in my view does not take anything way. On the underside of the table two metal straps were added for support. Have a good look at the photos, and of course I am happy to share more details on request, including any additional photos. Thanks for having a look. And good luck!

$87.52 Shipping Condition: Used Location: North San Juan, United States This listing is for an 18th Century English George II Tall Case Chest of Two over Four Drawers. Featuring original Queen Anne period brass hardware and ... moreall original locks, circa 1740-50. It is a beautiful piece with a simple form so successful commercially that it was copied in bedroom furniture for nearly 300 years, the same form being used in case pieces today. It is of outstanding craftsmanship being formed almost entirely of solid Cuban Mahogany, today a rare and restricted wood of incredible cost, known for it's dark and dense grain formations. A carved crown molding wraps around the front and sides. Repaired in numerous areas along, completing the smooth finished top of the case. The sides of the case are two boards that blind-dovetail at the top and through-dovetail at the bottom. The face of the case features two smaller drawers over four graduated larger drawers, each with full molded lips of the solid and fully original brass Queen Anne brass hardware, an original lock on every drawer(except the bottom) with many secured with original hand forged rose head nails and a few screws. Each drawer is hand dovetailed. Uniquely with graduating dovetails- the top two drawers have two dovetails, the next drawer down has three dovetails, the third down four dovetails, fourth with five dovetails and the bottom drawer with six. The top two drawers are divided by an upright bar with a half-dovetail joint penetrating the crossbar. Each drawer is divided with full dust board divisions, mahogany along the face, pine secondary woods making up the rest of the dust board. The dust board is primarily an English invention, found only infrequently on American case pieces, and conveniently protects clothing and items in drawers below from being dirtied by the drawer action. The back of the case is made up of one original board and the rest replaced. All re-secured with newer nails- a label inside on one of the replaced boards refers to a furniture depository in England. The case rests over four bracket feet, one rebuilt,

English George II Queen Anne Lowboy Antique Chest of Drawers Writing Table c1740
Fine English George II Mahogany Lowboy Chest of Drawers Mid-18th Century. Probably c. 1740-60 Item# 130002KJJ18 This is an absolutely wonderful find for serious collectors of Period Georgian English furniture- an original George II Period Lowboy Dressing Table crafted during the middle of the 18th Century. Almost certainly between the years of 1740-60. A pure piece with no adjustments or alterations, this is a very fine selection for purists and those with a preference for utmost quality in their collection. The projecting top was reset during the 20th Century, probably the same time it was refinished in a brilliant french polish, the molded edge scalloped on both front corners to give great shape to a simply gorgeous single solid plank of golden mahogany. The front and sides of the case are joined into the legs with a glued tenon joint. ... moreAll three being single solid boards with gorgeous grain selections. The front apron is scroll cut with magnificent and highly robust form, giving emphasis to the bold projection of the cabriole knee, the resulting empty space purely architectural in form. Three small drawers slide smoothly in and out of the case above this apron, each dovetailed at the front beneath cockbead molding, the backs and bottoms of the drawers nailed with small rows of iron nails. The brasses on each drawer are replaced, though correct for the period. Stretching from the top to the top. The legs are crafted of a highly complex single plank of wood, transitioning from the square corners into the bold cabriole leg before terminating in pointy slipper feet. The back legs are octagonally chamfered. Lending a squareness and masculinity to the overall form of the table. The back of the case is a single solid plank of oak, the interior secondary structure mostly pine with some oak- it is complex interior structure, a series of pine battens nailed perpendicular to the case on both sides and doubly in the center, one with an original rosehead nail visible. This form was originally designed as a dressing tabl

English Chippendale Period Antique Ball and Claw Mahogany Game Table c. 1790
English Chippendale Mahogany Carved Ball and Claw Foot Game Table Late 18th Century. Circa 1790 Item# 130002IRP01 This is a wonderful English Chippendale Period Carved Ball and Claw Foot Antique Game Table. Late 18th Century c. 1790. It is a piece upon which no expense was spared in the production. As every design embellishment commonly associated with the period was executed on this piece. The mahogany top has a nailed quarter-round rim applied on both levels, opening on original brass hinges and untouched screws to reveal a replaced felt surface bordered by mahogany. It projects softly over the frame. This being covered in vertically grained mahogany veneers not just on the front and on the sides, but also along the entire back. This added expense of finishing the back leg surfaces and adding the thick veneers is typically superfluous and ... moreconsidered unnecessary, as the table would remain against the wall- this detail certainly hints this was a commissioned piece for a home of means. The frame is dovetailed pine, as evident when opening the rear gating-leg, the drawer blades likewise dovetailed on either side as they stretch horizontally beneath and above the drawer. The facade of the table has a single broad drawer in the center. The edges framed in tacked cockbead molding(absent on the right side) around the dovetailed oak secondary woods, the bottom crafted of five untouched oak boards nailed perpendicular to the face. The cast brass bail pull handle is absolutely gorgeous, an entirely original and entirely hand forged work of art still retaining it's original backplates, pins and nuts. The underside of the apron has applied gadrooned molding. Nailed every few inches from beneath with short iron nails, carved to match up with the outward flowing acanthus scrolls of the knee returns. The workmanship in the carved knees is exacting, the crisp flowing rococo lines simply sprawling over the sharp knees and down the leg as a natural outgrowth from the gadrooning. The softly cabriole front legs terminate in out

FINE ANTIQUE ENGLISH GEORGE III MAHOGANY WINE TABLE TILT TOP ON TRIPOD BASE
This is a listing for a very elegant fine antique English George III mahogany wine table. To be fully appreciated this piece of furniture must be put in its historical context. The Georgian(1714 to 1837) style embraces a century under the reign of three Georges and is often divided into the Palladian early and late Georgian periods. The style was partly a reaction to baroque which George I loathed. As the century progressed. The style became lighter in terms of colours and decoration. The age of mahogany dominated much of the middle part of the 18th century. The beginning of this period saw a sudden simplification of style into less ornamental and more elegant aesthetic. Emphasis was henceforth on simple, flowing lines like for example the cabriole leg. This fine example of wine table belongs to this period showing the full character of the ... moreharmony and symmetry of this delicate piece of furniture. Georgian furniture survived in numbers due to the quality of the craftmanship and timbers used. This table has mellowed with age and matured with beauty and will sit happily in the smallest home and largest mansions and will be admired by all. Buying a piece of antique is for you to enjoy and it is a good investment. The table shows a beautiful and warm mahogany revived by a recent restoration to ensure its attractiveness lasts for generations. The top is released to tilt open by a very attractive and popular- to the period. Catch which is still in full working order. The slender table is supported by a turned column and tripod base terminating onto spade feet. This item dates back to circa 1800 Dimensions: H: 69 cm(27 inches) Diameter 83.5 cm(33.5 inches) Condition report: Visually this is a stunning piece with its attractive warm mahogany and slender lines. This is an antique piece about 200 years of old and therefore even though it has been restored some signs of use and age are visible. Please review carefully the photographs of this lovely table. Fine English Queen Anne "Concertina Action" Antique Card Game Side Table c. 1740
English George II Period Flip Top Concertina Action Card& Console Table Very fine condition. C. 1730-50, featuring almost entirely original hardware(chairs not included) Item# 110106IPP18 This listing is for a George II Period Queen Anne Solid Mahogany Card Table. Circa 1730-50. It features a single solid board top of highly figured mahogany, with turrets on each corner flanking a serpentine center form. This opens easily over two original brass hinges, each locking to either side with small brass hand made original screws, worn smooth from years of use. The rear legs extend using a concertina action mechanism to allow the rear legs to reach out in a perfect square. Forming a full card table for the center of a room. Each hinge within the concertina mechanism appears to be original, with some replaced screws on the innermost hinges. The ... moresecondary framing is oak, creating strength in all portions of the mechanism to allow it to last. When the legs are pulled out, a small shelf and box are visible. This shelf has a carved handle, allowing you to carefully pull it along routed lines towards the rear legs, effectively locking the legs in a perfect square while also revealing a convenient space for game pieces. The box is hand dovetailed front and back, and both shelf and box are entirely oak construction. We will note that great care must be shown while pulling this shelf out, to not jam it or otherwise damage the concertina action- this is an incredibly special piece, in that the concertina action has been very well preserved; these are delicate mechanisms and they must be protected by carefully operating them. When the top is rested carefully over the opened legs. A card surface is revealed with a replaced broad clean blue leather. It is framed in gilt painted tooling wrapping around the perimeter. At each corner, a glowing mahogany turret and scoop for game pieces break the surface. Both opposing turrets feature brass inset candleholders, threaded to accept a candle or oil lamp fixture without fear of being

English George III Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Antique Side Table c. 1760-90
English Chippendale Mahogany Tilt Top Side Table over Snake Feet Late 18th Century Item# 110005GFF25 This is an English Chippendale Mahogany Tilting Tea Table. Of the period c. 1760-90. Of remarkable weight, it features a single solid board top, hand planed carefully to create a perfect smooth surface. A thick varnish finish covers the entire piece, glowing on the top, with craquelure throughout the varnish along the pedestal and legs. The original hand carved cleats affix the top to the pedestal with a mix of a few remaining original hand crafted screws among later added screws. A brass catch on the underside of the table top still functions fully to secure the table in a resting postion, this appearing to be a period addition improving over the old catch system- originally a dowel likely joined through the left cleat into a hole in the ... morepedestal head to lock the table top in place. The pedestal tenons through the square base. Solidly locking these two critical components permanently[not the numerous repairs to the square head of the pedestal; this appears to be the original plank with later repairs to help secure it] The pedestal is carefully turned shaft ending in a carved spiral urn, then locking into the legs with tight dovetail joints. Cabriole legs curve down and terminate in simple oval slipper feet. A piece that has seen some life. This is a fine well crafted period tea table. From a conservation standpoint, it would be beneficial to have the current finish removed chemically and a shellac reapplied. It is a fine piece for anyone with a home of colonial or Chippendale design, a sturdy work that is fully capable of regular use in the home. Measurements: Top measures 30 3/4" wide x 30 1/8" wide(across grains) 44 7/8" high in tilted position. 27 1/2" high in down position; 26 1/2" distance between each toe Condition Report: Refinished. The thick shellac crackling throughout base and particularly evident on the legs; we would recommend that the table is refinished again eventually. Ch

English William & Mary 18th Century Antique Gate Leg Drop Leaf Breakfast Table
William and Mary Period Oval Gate Leg Breakfast Table Late 18th Century. England; one leaf replaced, feet probably replaced. Item# 120008SMT11 This is a table of unusual form with a simply gorgeous oval oak top. Each section of two solid golden oak boards covered with a wonderful wax finish, the leaves lifting to flush on ruled joints. The leaves have original 18th century hand forged hinges, though we suspect at least one of the leaves is replaced(see notes below in condition) The frame is pinned tenon-mortise construction over intensely ring-turned legs, each stretched permanently by a box-form stretcher, from which the gating leg on either side swings freely on a through-dowel peg. The legs swing very easily and smoothly to support the leaves, each with the correlating scrape marks underneath. It is an excellent piece to match any Colonial ... moreinspired decor. While having an overall petite proportion that is very desirable in a table of this nature. This is not a museum quality work in light of the feet and leaves, but is an outstanding find for the designer and anyone looking for a deeply patinated colonial table for a rustic interior- in wonderful condition for a work crafted over 250 years ago, this will be cherished in your home functionally and decoratively. Measurements: closed) 15" deep x 33 1/4" wide x 27 1/2" high(open) 44" deep x 33 1/4" wide x 27 1/2" high Condition Report: 1. Finish is well preserved beneath a later wax finish- the finish beneath the wax is very early. Probably not original 2. Feet are possibly replaced- they are affixed to the legs. But have a very natural wear- however, the softwood(presumably pine) nature of the feet also suggests possible early replacement 3. Drop leaves are possibly replaced; at least one is certainly a replacement. Note the second cut for an earlier hinge and the slight mismatch between hinge size and cut slot. The leaves are both certainly 18th century, and there could be an argument made that the empty cut slot was simply a mistake

English Chippendale Antique Game Table, c. 19th Century w/ Marlboro & Serpentine
English Chippendale Style Mahogany Game Table Composed mostly of 18th Century Elements. Probably c. late 19th Century Item# 130009GDJ23 This is a beautiful antique English Chippendale Style game table. In our assessment crafted during the late 19th Century out of parts of an earlier table- the result is a piece that closely resembles a period game table, with entirely hand chiseled and oxidized framing and structure, while lacking the authenticity and historical value of such a piece. These forms should be looked upon as a hand crafted reproduction, the old elements disregarded and the form judged on aesthetic qualities alone. As such, it is a very attractive little table, the solid mahogany top with a soft reverse serpentine that is mirrored in the apron. The apron along the front and sides follows the form of the top, the underside with ... morewonderful scrolling that flows directly into the well molded Marlborough legs. The back leg swings back as a support for the flip top, this revealing on the top an old faded leather surface for playing cards; at the same time, by opening the back leg a hidden drawer is revealed. This drawer retains an old yellowed note, supposedly bearing provenance of belonging to the author's great-grandfather- names are illegible to us. Not a form for serious collectors or those seeking any historical significance in their works. It is a decorative form that is very well crafted and is absolutely gorgeous. A period and untouched form of this table would cost somewhere close to the five-figure mark, the legs of particular attractive form and the veneers absolutely brilliant. As such, this table remains a very affordable selection that will greatly enhance whatever room it becomes a part of. English Antique George III FADED ROSEWOOD Pedestal Dining Table
A fine late Georgian Breakfast table, In faded rosewood inlaid with satinwood. Boxwood& bubinga, in a desirable oval form, with a well proportioned pedestal. Graceful upswept saber legs inlaid with satinwood paterae& stringing terminating in the original brass claw casters. 54 in long. 40 1/2 in wide, 28 1/2 in high. With minor veneer repairs. And an old restored finish. c. 1800. Provenance: Purchased from Mallett. London by the Chef Boyardi family in 1985 according to Auction records when the table was purchased. Faded Rosewood is only achievable through sun fading overall which can take about 10 years. If the existing finish is stripped. The wood would become dark and figured like every other 1000. table one sees. A table of this calibre is only sold by premier London dealers. This is not a bleached finish- that effect is different ... moreand wood figure is lost- Rosewood does not bleach out as quickly as other woods as well. As for comperables- I'd encourage a review of similar tables on any of the auction sites or those for sale at FirstDibs to see that ones like this are being offered for as much as $68.000. Antique Wonderful 17thC English Period Oak Refectory Dining Centre Table
For the Decorative. Rare& Unusual“Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are the cultivated. For these there is hope. Oscar Wilde A Wonderful 17thC English Oak Refectory Table Period: Charles II/Stuart Provenance: Unknown Date: c.1680-1700 Length: 62.5 inches Width: 27.5 inches Height: 29 inches Leg Room: 23.5 inches The seventeenth century oak refectory table having a richly coloured rectangular boarded top with pegged ends on turned baluster legs joined by a low level'H' stretcher. Survives from late seventeenth century Stuart period England. The condition is hugely evocative of its life thus far and as such is not for those who favour perfection but large doses of Stuart period character. There may be later additions and there is a triangular shaped repair to the top which also has bowing. Splits and losses. ... moreThese include a corner section of loss, and two or three cracks running through the top that have widened with temperature changes throughout its years. The underside of the top is a fabulous grey oak colour, expected with oak of this age. There are sections of gnarled loss to the legs, especially to one in particular and another of the legs looks like a possible later replacement as the turnings are not quite of the same proportions as the other three. The colour and patination is superb to the top and we have given her a light wax. We don’t believe any of these imperfections make the table any less practical but if one is shy of character it may be best to look elsewhere. A refectory table is a elongated table used originally for dining in monasteries in Medieval times. In the Late Middle Ages the table gradually became a banqueting or feasting table in castles and other noble residences. This example is not as elongated as some and is also a relatively small to medium proportioned example. Seating six comfortably. The original table manufacture was by hand and created of oak or walnut; the design is based on a trestle-style. Typically the table legs are supported by circumfere

Mahogany itself is a rich reddish brown wood that can range from being plain in appearance to something that is so vibrant. Figured and almost three dimensional in effect. Although Mahogany was most often used in its solid form. It also provided some beautifully figured varieties of veneer like‘Flame’ Mahogany and‘Fiddleback’ Mahogany(named after its preferred use in the manufacture of fine musical instruments) Cuban Mahogany was so sought after. That by the late 1850′s, this particular variety became all but extinct. Marquetry is decorative artistry where pieces of material(such as wood. English George II Chippendale Walnut Ball Claw Antique Drop Leaf Table c. 1760
GEORGE II WALNUT DROP LEAF TABLE OVER BALL AND CLAW FEET England. Mid 18th Century, probably c. 1760 Item# 411BIR15P This table is noteworthy for it's very attractive size. The depth and quality of the patina and finish and the particularly handsome feet. Resting over handsomely carved ball and claws, each foot is full of life with the raptor talons stretching around the oblong sphere, the sharp nails cut with utmost realism as they scratch at the floor over the taunt tendons that extend through the leg of the foot. The two drop leaves and the top are crafted of solid planks of walnut(possibly a blonde mahogany finished in a lighter pigment, though the swirls of grain suggest walnut without doing any more specific testing) the edges of the top ruled to allow the leaves to easily lift over their original wrought iron untouched hinges and ... moresettle into place without a gap. These rest on gating legs, the swinging leg with an oak or elm secondary wood tenoned into the leg and pinned in place, rotating on an angular knuckle joint with a steel rod anchor. The frame is pine, dovetailed along the exposed gating edge and pinned in the stationary legs with later added blocking to more fully secure the joint. The result is quite effective, the table having remained in pristine condition after well over two hundred years of active use. It is particularly attractive as a console, stationed against the wall beneath a portrait or mirror in a hallway or side wall. However, it still remains a very practical and useful piece in it's original function, as a breakfast or gaming table that could be easily opened to entertain company and then put neatly away against the wall after the morning tea or evening festivities were complete. For any serious collector of fine English furniture, this is a pristine example with very minimal restoration and an absolutely gorgeous patina that will certainly be a cherished part of your collection for a lifetime. Fine English George II Chippendale Mahogany Ball Claw Antique Game Table c. 1730
EXCEPTIONAL ENGLISH GEORGE II MAHOGANY BALL AND CLAW GAME TABLE With turreted corners. The top with candle holders and chip wells, remaining in outstanding condition England. C. 1730 Item# 411JPY15X This precious example of English craftsmanship is exquisite in every way- no expense was spared in what was almost certainly a commissioned piece. And clearly great care has been shown in the handling of the table over the last two hundred and eighty odd years. The top of the table is turreted to conform with the form of the apron, being planed from a single plank of handsomely grained mahogany. It lifts over original hinges on the sides to lower onto the rear legs, these pulling out of the frame on lopers to create a four legged table structure. The result is a very stable card playing surface, which probably accounts at least partially for the ... moreexcellent state of preservation we find in it today. The card surface is a green felt top(replaced and discolored) with candle holders on each turreted corner with four chip wells sunk into the top. Finally, the top also lifts over original hinges to reveal an interior compartment for storing games. The apron is veneered with vertical grained mahogany. The centermost with an original pierced brass escutcheon around the keyhole. The table is raised over bold cabriole legs with the most wonderful acanthus carving along the front knees- these carvings are deep and fluid, full of life and realism, both tapering into the leg which terminates in elegant carved claws grasping a sphere. The underside of the table reveals oversize blocking inside of the front legs with all returns original but one(rear left leg) For any serious collector of fine English antiques. This is an outstanding investment grade acquisition that in every way elevates whatever interior it becomes a part of. It is exceedingly beautiful and in very fine condition- it will certainly be a most cherished part of your collection. Literature: British Antique Furniture. John Andrews, p. 288- a very similar exam

English Hepplewhite Mahogany Antique Card or Game Table, 18th Century c. 1790
ENGLISH HEPPLEWHITE INLAID MAHOGANY ANTIQUE CARD TABLE With untouched structure and a warm surface. C. 1790 Item# 412KRA05 This gorgeous example of late 18th century craftsmanship is a testament to how a finely planned design can stand the test of time. Preserved in outstanding condition. This English antique card table presents pristine clean lines accentuated by satinwood stringer inlays in a form that remains relevant to the classical interior even today. The inlay of the legs is particularly effective, each with a steep triangular inlay that speeds up the taper of the leg almost imperceptibly. The ovolu form of the top softens the rectangular form of the table with inset curved corners; the apron of the table conforms to this shape, the facade divided into three distinct panels of vibrant flamed mahogany veneers framed in satinwood stringer ... moreinlay. Both back legs project on a knuckle joint. Allowing the top to flip open to rest solidly on a full four corners- the hinge placement is interesting and atypical, the craftsman utilizing hinges cast in an H-form to allow these to remain hidden behind the table. Both hinges are untouched and retain their original screws. When the back legs project, the open dovetailing of the frame is made visible at the rear corners. The rest of the apron construction is also pine, the ovolu corners constructed of laminated pine- meaning, the pine is cut to the shape of the corner in stacks, allowing a more economical use of the wood. Original steel screws are sunk in wells to affix the apron to the top, two original corner blocks securing the rear corners of the frame. For any collector of fine English antiques. But also for anyone with a classical home looking for a stunning strike point piece for a hallway, entry or living room, this is an absolutely outstanding selection. In a fine state of preservation and with a deep glowing patina under years of wax and appropriate sunlight, the table is magnetic and full of life. English Chippendale Mahogany Ball and Claw Antique Drop Leaf Dining Table c 1780
ENGLISH CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY BALL AND CLAW DROP LEAF DINING TABLE Late 18th Century. Probably c. 1780 Item# 411ECP29P This attractive table was crafted during the last quarter of the 18th century. Probably in England though possibly in Ireland. The incredibly wide solid mahogany planks making up the drop leaves and the top of the table are absolutely gorgeous, each with vibrant swirling grains and retaining a deep ruby color. They swing over ruled joints on period wrought iron hinges. It rests over nicely carved ball and claw feet with rather precise details- a previous owner obviously wished the table to be slightly higher to accommodate chairs, and as such had the balls finished with 1" carved pads from beneath. They were clearly quite careful about preserving the feet, not altering the carvings but rather simply applying these beneath ... morethe table. Two legs swing outward to lift the leaves of the table comfortably, making the table a rather substantial dining room piece that should be able to comfortably seat six to eight guests. This is a particularly useful form for homes where dinner parties and family gatherings are common- it can serve very attractively as a console table in the dining room or a behind a centered sofa in the living room. But when an excess of company comes over it can be brought out as a full dining table. This flexibility is what made the form so prominent during the 18th century, where entertaining large groups in the evenings was very common. Measurements: 28 3/8" H x 22 3/8" D(with leaves down) x 50 5/8" L; 65" total depth when leaves are opened; 22 1/2" H to the underside of the frame Condition Report: Top is probably a period replacement. As hinge out out on underside of one leaf does not match the hinge well of the top. Surface overall is in good condition, though one leaf has some areas of clouding and a circular bloom in the shellac from a hot object placed there. Minor use indicators(scratches, nicks and abrasions) as expected. A splicing repair to the
