American Federal Mid-Atlantic Cherry Candlestand Antique Side Table c. 1790-1810
American Federal Period Cherry Antique Candle Stand(Side Table) Resting over"Spider" form legs. Mid-Atlantic States, c. 1790-1810 Item# 130001WLG27(note. The chair, book and candlestick are not part of this listing- they are pictured only to give visual dimensions and proportions) This is a simply gorgeous American Federal Cherry Candle Stand crafted of solid Cherry in the Mid-Atlantic states. C. 1790-1810. It is a very handsome piece, the top crafted from a single solid board of cherry with shapely scalloped corners and rectangular form. The back of the top is relatively undisturbed, every single screw appearing to be fully original and in it's original hole- they were likely removed when it was refinished, as there is not evidence of finish buildup along the rails, but each was very carefully restored to it's original ... morespace and remain firm and strong. Despite shrinking over the years, the table still functions without flaw, lifting and latching smoothly and providing a sturdy and level surface. The shaft is shaped with wonderful detail. Starting at the bottom in a succession of swelling and receding rings under the urn-form baluster from which sprouts the thin turned pillar lifting the square solid cherry head. The triform"Spider" legs flow out from the base, where they join with a thick dovetail, to terminate in plain square feet. The underside of the shaft reveals the rough unfinished joinery, clean and without evidence of nails or an absent bracket- as a result of not being secured with a triform bracket, the legs have broken out from the pedestal and have been restored at some point in the past. They remain in very sturdy condition as a result of the workmanship. An outstanding presentation. This work of art was designed to be flexible in any number of design scenarios in the home- as a fully functional antique side table or antique candle stand for beside the bed. Between two windows, beside an arm chair or tilted in the corner. This is a piece that can be utilized actively, cha

This stunning flame birch& mahogany bird cage tip top tea table has its original period crab lock, reeded profiles on the spider legs, wonderfully turned center pedestal and in a very good original finish that is in desperate need of a waxing and buffing. There is a typical very old and stable seasoning split on its lower base that we will be addressing along with its detailing this week. The top shows a few very small finish blemishes(it is an untouched 200 plus year old finish) that will be covered in as soon as we apply the tinted wax and buff it out. This tea table has a 27" top, is 44 1/2" tall locked back and 29" tall with the top locked down. One of the best flame birch pieces we have turned up in quite a while now. Rare Pair of American Federal Mahogany Antique Card Tables, Philadelphia c. 1790
Rare Pair of American Federal Mahogany Card Tables Possibly Philadelphia or New England States c. 1790-1800 Item# 130108USB12 This is a fantastic and rare acquisition- a fully original Pair of American Federal Mahogany Card Tables. They probably originate from Philadelphia. Though this form is also found in New York and the New England States. The tops are simply above reproach, each a single solid plank of mahogany with stringer inlay along the outer edges; the curved ovolu corners are sharp and precise, the boards each displaying magnificent dense grains and lifting over original untouched hinges. Brilliant mahogany veneers are edged with cockbead molding applied along the lower edge. All four legs have great form, these a distinctive evolution of the Marlboro leg with a well developed taper. Beneath the mahogany veneers. The sides of the ... moretables are crafted mostly of white pine with some solid mahogany; the back gate leg is oak and the back of the frame is white pine. The gate leg is affixed to the back of the frame with eight wrought nails on one table, seven wrought nails on the other. Original blocking is retained on one table, the other crafted without this blocking- interior structure shows no evidence of the table ever having been crafted with the blocking, which was probably deemed superfluous in light of the remarkable strength of the structure. Another minor variation between the tables is the gate leg: one table has a double pinned tenon joint, the other table crafted with the same tenon joint but only using glue. For any serious collector of fine American Federal antiques. This is an exceptional pair of card tables. They are very rare and difficult to acquire in original pairs, often being separated by heirs as family members divide out the inheritance. Remaining in an excellent state of preservation, these are a very desirable acquisition. Measurements: table one] 37 5/8" wide x 18 1/4" deep x 29 5/8" high; 36 11/16" deep x 29" high when opened; table two] 37 5/8" wide

This Table has been in my Family for over 100 years and was purchased by my Grandfather. George Arthur Plimpton in the G L Pendleton Auction in 1897. It was passed to my Mother and then to me. Colonel Issac Franks Grandson. George W Huffnagle sold this Table to G L Pendleton in 1885 and Pendleton to My Grandfather. I have a Letter from George Huffnagle to Pendleton describing the articles which he purchased from him detailing the account of George Washingtons stay at the Franks Home ... morewhere this table originated. I have a transcript to that letter below. The house was built in 1772 by merchant David Deshler. And a mere five years later it was in the middle of the raging Battle of Germantown. British General Sir William Howe occupied the house after the Battle. In 1793 the Yellow Fever epidemic swept through the capital of Philadelphia. And people from all over the city sought refuge in the country. President George Washington and his cabinet escaped the Fever in Germantown. Washington lived and conducted business from the Deshler-Morris house. At the time it was the Franks House. As it had passed to its second owner, Colonel Isaac Franks. ANTIQUE FEDERAL 18C/19C SOLID FLAME MAHOGANY TILT TOP TABLE~RARE~EXQUISITE~MINT
I am happy to offer a wonderful very old. Late 1700's, early 1800's, tilt top table made of solid flame mahogany. The top was made in the shape of a tortoise shell(this was done in England when being brought to the colonies) and was originally adopted from the shipping lane to the islands. I seen these tables in Barbados 24 years ago. It is the first time I found one here in the northeast. The estate I received it from was from a fine collector that traveled worldwide buying their furnishings. FIRST. The table is in excellent condition with no major. Nor could I see minor.repairs. The lovely column is handcarved as well as the padded feet. It is all solid mahogany. The table top is amazingly beautiful, being made of solid flame mahogany, no veneers and of one board. The galley edge is handcarved as well and"PEGGED" construction ... moreto the ornate edge. See the pictures. The back has the original early latch and lock setup. Nothing has been added or subtracted from this table. The design in the table is extrodinary and beautiful. Good and sturdy, this table can be used and enjoyed to its max. The table measures when tilted open. 43 1/2" high. When in use and locked, it measures 28 1/2" from the floor and the top from north to south and east to west is a true 28 3/4" each way. Fine craftsmen carved the acanthus leaves and delightful ornate tripod with the true pad feet giving it a good square solid fit to the floor, making it safe and not tipsy. The weight of the table is also a great factor. This table is not of flimsy lesser light woods and again, it makes a suitable table for many years of good use. Please email any questions. Happy to oblige. Shipping costs varie according to your area. I have FREE shipping for Long Island in Suffolk and Nassau counties and very reasonable costs tristate(not too far north) and some New England states. YOU MUST ASK. I think you might find a very fair and economic as well as safe shipping method. I also use Antique Transport. Who is again, fair priced,

American Federal Mahogany Breakfast Table, Mid Atlantic States c. 1790 Antique
CHEST OF DRAWERS ANTIQUE CHAIRS TABLES BRONZE SCULPTURES FINE PAINTINGS SCHOOL OF ORIGIN SUBJECT LAMPS. LIGHTING AMERICAN FEDERAL MAHOGANY BREAKFAST TABLE Mid Atlantic States. Probably Maryland c. 1790-1800 Item# 100009RQI12 The caramelized warmth of the mahogany in this breakfast table make it particularly eye-catching. The craftsman was careful in his selection of mahogany for the top of the table. This almost equally balanced between shimmering striations of grains and deep swirling and ribbing exhibited in a single leaf and into the middle board. Each plank is a single solid board, unembellished by inlay or anything that would distract from the natural beauty of each leaf. The corners are characterized by deep ovolu insets, these side leaves lifted over small"wings" with carved finger holds on the ends, pivoting from the frame ... moreon internal dowels. The frame is austere in it's rectangular profile, the single drawer sliding from the front with it's original stamped brass and ring hardware. The bottom panel of the drawer is chamfered along the edges and set in grooves on the sides and front with it's grain running parallel to the front, flush nailed with three square iron nails along the back edge and reinforced with square poplar glue blocks. The leaves retain their original iron hinges, each untouched and retaining their hand cut steel screws. A thin stringer inlay lines the edge of the frame over plain tapered legs. A very attractive example for collectors of American Federal furnishings. Preserved in exceptional condition, this is a fine and affordable acquisition. Materials: Mahogany top. Rare Early Federal Northern New England Tiger Maple Dropleaf Harvest Table 1790s
Rare Early Federal Northern New England Tiger Maple Dropleaf Harvest Table 1790s Maine or New Hampshire or Vermont States Circa 1790-1810. View the entire photo slideshow here: via Flickr) We are pleased to present a great early federal Maine/Vermont/New Hampshire Tiger Maple Dropleaf Harvest Table. this table is superb in every aspect. Great patina, bold tigering to the grain, wonderfully formed birch tapered legs, dovetailed frame. Pegged construction for the legas to the base, the legs are dovetailed into the frame. the side rails are rosehead nailed onto the sides of the frame. The table is a swing leg, with hand cut wood pinned hinges for the legs. all are fully functioning, and still completely 100% serviceable. Condition: The finish on the top is for the most part the original surface. And polished under a coat of wax. The Leaves are ... morestill working on the original hand wrought iron hinges. one of the leaves is in original condition. the other one not so much. our best gues is at one point in its relatively recent life, the leaf must have been warped, as often as Tiger Maple does over the years. somebody took the leaf off, the cut it into strips, and reglued them back, and then they replaned it. it is slightly thiner and shorter than the original leaf. I was highly dissapointed when i first discovered this. The top and the 2 leaves have matching grain, they all came from the same tree, so i am kinda ok with the repair, over the leaf being replaced all together. NONETHELESS this table is still a very rare find! one would have to drive a long distance to find another. we are 100% certain that the top and leaves are original to the base. As the scribe marks on the underside of the top line up with the base. we removed the screws holding the top onto the base, and verified this. the height on the base is good. And uncut to the best of our knowledge. Woods: Tiger Maple Top. Leaves, and skirt end tablets. Birch Legs, and Straight grain Maple swing leg and leaf supports, and main frame body rails. hand wrought i

18th C. Federal Candlestand Attr.to Joseph Short - Newburyport, MA
Massachusetts(Newburyport) candle stand attributed to prolific late-18th century cabinetmaker. Joseph Short. This table exhibits many known attributes to the documented examples from his workshop including the elongated and elegant turned standard, knopped feet(feet such as these, with a sharp ridge at the top and pinched sides on a shaped pad, are commonly associated with the shop of Joseph Short) thin oval top and an overall light and elegant Federal look and feel. The table is currently painted black, but would certainly look much better taken down to the wood beneath. On the underside of top, you can see the wood grain, which I believe is mahogany(a common wood type used during this period) Please take time to search examples of Joseph Short's work online to see similar examples. This table is easily shipped using a large box with ... moreUPS as carrier. Shipping should run somewhere around $60.00 in the U.S. I will base shipping on that amount. And if it is less expensive, I will refund the difference. If you should have any questions. Please ask. I have priced this table to sell. There is certainly money left in it for a dealer and a great opportunity for a collector to acquire an exceptionally lovely table for little money. Table stands 28" high with top down and 39" high with top lifted. 5-DAY AUCTION! RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp73%28e013%3F%3E%3A-149bcd9f172-0x110-
