The piece appears to be made of ash or chestnut and is extremely heavy and bulky. The top is 1.25" thick and the posts are 3.5" square. The table has unusual form with a lower shelf set high and two keyed through tenons on the sides. There are double pins at the top and bottom and the legs have a nice taper towards the bottom.
