The proceeds of the sale of his estate was all donated to various charities. Various museums were bequeathed over 100 of his tall case clock collection. We have some amazing pieces from his estate. Original 1700s Chippendale Mahogany Pie Crust Tea Table American Philadelphia
Original American c1760-80 Chippendale pie crust tea table. Needs restoration. 2 cracks in the top one with 3 very old repairs. Legs were all broken and repaired at some time. Missing one rail. Holes stripped out where catch attaches under the top. But original working catch mechanism. The bottom metal bracket looks original, but screws are not. Finish is a dark stain and probably not original. You can see the beautiful wood when taking picture with a flash. Table is about 29 inches high and 29 inches diameter. Top is carved from a single piece of mahogany and has many old scuff marks as well as 2 areas where a screw came through from the bottom one of which is repaired. This looks to be a fairly straightforward restoration. I had it checked out as being period and American with a famous New York auction house. Beautiful 1700's 1800's Century Asian Korean? Chinese? Japanese? Table Furniture Amazingly beautiful 17th? or 18th? century Asian table. This is a very unique. Beautiful one of a kind table. It actually looks better than the pictures represent. It is comprised of wood, iron, even brass. Showing wonderful patina from age, but appears to have been stained at some point in time. The underside of the table shows its true age, being very crude& aged. This is a very old piece still very sturdy& intact, but not sure if made in the 17th century or 18th century. I can tell that this table has been well preserved, and shows repair nails in areas. Again this table is very sturdy& does not contain any damage to the wood. Two sides of the table show ornate iron& brass metal work. It almost appears that the sides were carved to ... morerepresent fish, but may not be. One side contains a tip of wood missing at the bottom, but hardly noticeable. Measures about 47" x 45" not counting jolted metal capped wood ends) about 13" in height. Notice the jolted out corners of the table capped w/ metal. Their are also 4 square slotted holes cut into the metal on each corner. Two of the corners on the same side contain cut out square holes in the metal, but not in the wood. One corner contains a cut out square hole through the wood& metal. And one corner contains a cut out square hole through the metal& halfway through the wood. I'm not real sure what this would have represented or could have possibly been used for placement of flags. Their is also a very old piece of wood that runs on the underside for support and actually runs outside of the width of the table. I'm also not sure what this would have represented if anything at all. I have had people to tell me that this could have been part of an ancient Elephant Door? Notice the slotted holes as well as the interlocking hinged corners? I have had other people to tell me that this could have been a litter vehicle platform used to carry importa
