18th CENTURY HEPPLEWHITE MAHOGANY INLAID CARD TABLE-SOUTH SHORE MASSACHUSETTS
LATE 18th CENTURY HEPPLEWHITE FIGURED MAHOGANY INLAID CARD TABLE ATTRIBUTED TO ABIEL WHITE WEYMOUTH MASSACHUSETTS With our compliments we are pleased to offer you this fine South Shore Massachusetts Circa 1780-90 Hepplewhite mahogany coca bola inlaid card table attributed to Abiel White of Weymouth. Massachusetts. It has semi eliptical top and base, a heavily crotched figured mahogany 4" apron with curved formed corners, three oval coca bola and satinwood inlaid panels, a fine inlaid coca bola& satinwood inlaid border running around the base of the apron and satinwood string inlay running around the leg blocks and the finely tapered legs. We noticed this piece was dry when it came in and gave it a feeding wax application before taking these photos so please excuse any shiny glare. This card table is 36" long, 17" wide and ... more29 1/2" tall. It has a hinged swing out back leg that supports the card table when its opened to its 34 1/2" width. There is an old professional repair to the surface of the table's top under the folding lid. It has a few light scratches that will fill in when we give it a tinted waxing and buffing. We just don't like to wax pieces until they are leaving the shop. We are constantly moving the shop around and the wax gets smudged when we have to pick up a waxed piece to move it. Lastly we noted a very small chip of wood gone near the left lower lid. We are sending this over to our woodworker for a splice that will be completely invisable. We have deep connections to the South Shore of Massachusetts and Weymouth. Abiel White was the decesendant of Mayflower passenger Perigreen White of Marshfield, Massachusetts. We are very proud to offer an Abiel White piece(we have only been able to find two in the last year) and we will see this piece gets the finest attention it deserves. As it stands right now this period card table is perfectly acceptable the way it stands but why not do a few hours of cosmetic work to make it simply perfect? We know you will appreciate i

American New England Queen Anne Pad Foot Diminutive Gate Leg Card Antique Table
Diminutive American Queen Anne Drop Leaf Table c. 1750-70 New England States. Maple Primary woods, Pine frame Resting over tapered legs and pad feet Item# 120011IQO24 This is a uniquely diminutive and quite attractive Queen Anne drop leaf table. Crafted of solid Maple in the New England States during the mid-to-late 18th Century, probably 1750-1770. The shapely top opens over ruled joints for a clean and broad surface- excellent dimensions for use as a functional card table or breakfast table, folding up as a wonderful hall table or dining room server. In 18th century homes, it was important that dining and entertaining furniture could be used flexibly for multiple uses, both functionally as a useful piece when hosting company, but also aesthetically to enhance the beauty of a given room. This table, with it's wonderful dimensions and ... morefine lines, clearly would have been a desirable piece in most households of the period. Originally this table would have been painted. Evidence still in the corners and crevices of a white paint that may have been the original color. One leaf is a solid plank of solid maple, the top and one other leaf crafted of two pieces of broad maple, all hanging over entirely original hand forged iron hinges- several of the original screws are still preserved in these. The table rests over a primarily pine frame, one leg gating outward on each side to reveal the dovetailed construction of the frame, the legs joined to the gate with double pinned tenon-mortise joints and swinging on a thick and heavy knuckle joint. The legs are perfect turned works, each perfectly tapering into a tiny ankle before flowing into the soft padded foot. This is an outstanding find for the collector and decorator alike- in excellent structural condition. Fully capable of regular use as a card table and serving table alike, this is a piece that if well cared for will last through many generations in your family. Measurements: 37 1/2" wide x 37 1/4" diameter when opened 27" high; leaf 1 = 12 13/16&quo

Fine English Queen Anne "Concertina Action" Antique Card Game Side Table c. 1740
English George II Period Flip Top Concertina Action Card& Console Table Very fine condition. C. 1730-50, featuring almost entirely original hardware(chairs not included) Item# 110106IPP18 This listing is for a George II Period Queen Anne Solid Mahogany Card Table. Circa 1730-50. It features a single solid board top of highly figured mahogany, with turrets on each corner flanking a serpentine center form. This opens easily over two original brass hinges, each locking to either side with small brass hand made original screws, worn smooth from years of use. The rear legs extend using a concertina action mechanism to allow the rear legs to reach out in a perfect square. Forming a full card table for the center of a room. Each hinge within the concertina mechanism appears to be original, with some replaced screws on the innermost hinges. The ... moresecondary framing is oak, creating strength in all portions of the mechanism to allow it to last. When the legs are pulled out, a small shelf and box are visible. This shelf has a carved handle, allowing you to carefully pull it along routed lines towards the rear legs, effectively locking the legs in a perfect square while also revealing a convenient space for game pieces. The box is hand dovetailed front and back, and both shelf and box are entirely oak construction. We will note that great care must be shown while pulling this shelf out, to not jam it or otherwise damage the concertina action- this is an incredibly special piece, in that the concertina action has been very well preserved; these are delicate mechanisms and they must be protected by carefully operating them. When the top is rested carefully over the opened legs. A card surface is revealed with a replaced broad clean blue leather. It is framed in gilt painted tooling wrapping around the perimeter. At each corner, a glowing mahogany turret and scoop for game pieces break the surface. Both opposing turrets feature brass inset candleholders, threaded to accept a candle or oil lamp fixture without fear of being

Fine American Chippendale Antique Card Table, Pennsylvania 18th Century c 1760
Fine American Chippendale Mahogany Card Table over Marlborough Legs Pennsylvania c. 1775-1785 in nearly untouched condition Primary Woods: Mahogany[tops. Primary case, legs, molding] Secondary Woods: Golden Oak[gate leg frame] Yellow Pine[back board of frame, runners, interior blocking] Cedar[triangular blocks under drawer bottom] Poplar[drawer sides and bottom] Item# 130108MWT12 This is an exceptional work of art. An American Chippendale Mahogany Card Table from Pennsylvania circa the last quarter of the 18th Century, likely crafted between 1775-85. The table is remarkably well preserved, almost entirely untouched other than regular maintenance of the finish through periodic and regular waxing- the finish beneath is possibly not original, or at least partially restored, but is very early and highly patinated. Every aspect of the table is ... moreoriginal, including the highly delicate C-Scroll returns that flank each leg- these are replaced or damaged with high frequency due to their precarious nature, particularly the left rear bracket, as this is only secured at the table frame and does not attach to the gating leg. Clearly the table remained in one area without being moved or roughly handled for much of it's life. The top is crafted of broad solid planks of mahogany. Each just under an inch thick and spanning the entire depth of 17 3/4" without a second board. The figure is warm and flowing, a rich pudding surface that is even more evident on the cleaner"game" surface. The top lifts over original hinges to rest on the gating back leg, this crafted with golden oak making up both ends of the knuckled board, tenoned into the rear left leg and pinned with two wooden pegs. A single drawer pulls out from the front with an outstanding Rococo pair of brasses, likely imports from England and fully original, the edge of the drawer lined with a thin cockbead molding to give shape to the drawer. The drawer is framed with poplar secondaries, the deeply chamfered bottom sliding into rabbets along the sides with

Petite American Queen Anne Antique Mahogany Card Table, Massachusetts c. 1760-80
CHEST OF DRAWERS ANTIQUE CHAIRS TABLES BRONZE SCULPTURES FINE PAINTINGS SCHOOL OF ORIGIN SUBJECT LAMPS. LIGHTING DIMINUTIVE AMERICAN QUEEN ANNE MAHOGANY CARD TABLE WITH PORRINGER TOP Probably Southeastern Massachusetts. C. 1760-80 Item# 1403LBW22-A An exquisite example for it's nearly untouched overall condition coupled with it's quite rare diminutive size- measuring in at just 27 1/4" wide. This is an incredibly striking work of art. The top is a pair of single solid planks of mahogany in what is generally referred to as a"porringer" form, though sometimes also called a turret-top, for the large round corners that typically held a lamp or candle on card tables. This flips over original brass hinges with untouched hand filed steel screws, raised over a single gating back leg. The structure is sturdy in both positions. ... moreThe frame is elegant, the sides of the apron nicely shaped in a pinched scroll cut, the straight edge of the front flanked by stepped ogival shaping. The cabriole of each leg is elongated and of flawless form, a curve that is perfect in it's balance of robustness and restraint, each leg flanked by curling returns(absent on the left side) that are distinct to the Massachusetts work centers. The whole terminates over raised pad feet. In terms of structure. The top is affixed with a series of pine corner blocks glued along the inner edge of the frame combined with a series of hand cut steel screws set in wells at regular intervals. Vertical corner blocks secure three of the four corners, the blocking for the back right corner unnecessary due to the vertical blocking along the gating leg structure. The back of the frame dovetails into the side behind the rotating leg; it seems that at one point a dowel went through the back of the frame into the gating leg, possibly to"lock" the leg in position when it was closed. This has since been cut, probably due to shrinkage, and may have been a later solution to a perceived problem. The gating leg structure is affixed to the b

Having just been restored by my very experienced restorer(50 years) it is consequently in excellent condition and is ready for immediate use in the home or for retailing in a prestigious showroom or fair. The second thing that strikes you about this table is the colour and patination. The cabinetmaker that made this table chose some very good quality timbers for the job. This has resulted all these years later in a table with a gorgeous soft rich warm colour and patination that can only be attained by mahogany of this age and quality. Thirdly are the proportions. The design of this table is just right and the table benefits from having a good balance. Meaning that it“sits” well with a real“presence” Now we know everything on ebay is“fantastic” glorious” superb” brilliant” magnificent” greatest” resplendent” superior” etc etc but when we say this is a very good table we mean it. 19th Century Anglo Indian Hardwood Card/Games Table
19 th Century Anglo Indian Hardwood Card/Games Table This beautiful table really does combine the cultures of Colonial British style with a fine Indian interpretation. The folded top is skilfully carved with a border of individual flowers. The central oval with a border of the same flowers surrounding a profuse foliate pattern. The top opens to reveal a beize gaming surface with eight recesses for counters. Money etc. The front cabriole legs are finely carved to the hip. Please note the wood grain pattern. The legs terminate with pad feet. One or two age related losses and dents. A perfectionist would perhaps say that it needs a polish. Personally I would enjoy it just as it is. English Hepplewhite Mahogany Antique Card or Game Table, 18th Century c. 1790
ENGLISH HEPPLEWHITE INLAID MAHOGANY ANTIQUE CARD TABLE With untouched structure and a warm surface. C. 1790 Item# 412KRA05 This gorgeous example of late 18th century craftsmanship is a testament to how a finely planned design can stand the test of time. Preserved in outstanding condition. This English antique card table presents pristine clean lines accentuated by satinwood stringer inlays in a form that remains relevant to the classical interior even today. The inlay of the legs is particularly effective, each with a steep triangular inlay that speeds up the taper of the leg almost imperceptibly. The ovolu form of the top softens the rectangular form of the table with inset curved corners; the apron of the table conforms to this shape, the facade divided into three distinct panels of vibrant flamed mahogany veneers framed in satinwood stringer ... moreinlay. Both back legs project on a knuckle joint. Allowing the top to flip open to rest solidly on a full four corners- the hinge placement is interesting and atypical, the craftsman utilizing hinges cast in an H-form to allow these to remain hidden behind the table. Both hinges are untouched and retain their original screws. When the back legs project, the open dovetailing of the frame is made visible at the rear corners. The rest of the apron construction is also pine, the ovolu corners constructed of laminated pine- meaning, the pine is cut to the shape of the corner in stacks, allowing a more economical use of the wood. Original steel screws are sunk in wells to affix the apron to the top, two original corner blocks securing the rear corners of the frame. For any collector of fine English antiques. But also for anyone with a classical home looking for a stunning strike point piece for a hallway, entry or living room, this is an absolutely outstanding selection. In a fine state of preservation and with a deep glowing patina under years of wax and appropriate sunlight, the table is magnetic and full of life.
