GREAT 18TH C. William & Mary TAVERN TABLE Stretcher Base NICE FINISH
I was told that this is an 18th century William and Mary Tavern Table with stretcher base. Two drawers, and a removable top. It has a beautiful finish(I tried to provide pictures that show natural light and flash. The table measures approximately 61" long x 27 1/2" tall x 31 1/2" deep. Each drawer measures approximately 21 1/2" deep x 20" wide(the inside) There are some scratches and chips to the wood in a few places. I tried to take multiple pictures to show the condition. 18TH CENTURY NEW ENGLAND TAVERN TABLE, 1 PLANK PINE TOP, ALL ORIGINAL
This great early American 18th century tavern table is one of three pieces from a local Massachusetts home. All which were in original untouched condition. All we have done to this table due to the years of grime were to lightly clean and oil it. It has a 1 board pine oval top on a splay leg maple/cherry(not sure) base. All peg construction. The pegs on the stretcher are exposed and beautifully intact. The top and base are guaranteed original to each other and not married pieces. The top has a lovely rich patina and signs of character from years of use. There are random marks along the edges of both sides due to sewing birds being attached to the table. The table top measures 36" long and 27" wide. It is 24 3/4" tall. The legs are positioned 21 3/4" x 16 1/2" apart to the outside of each leg. American Painted Antique Tavern Work Table, New Hampshire c. 1830, Pine & Birch
CHEST OF DRAWERS ANTIQUE CHAIRS TABLES BRONZE SCULPTURES FINE PAINTINGS SCHOOL OF ORIGIN SUBJECT LAMPS. LIGHTING AMERICAN PAINTED PINE AND BIRCH WORK TABLE Probably New Hampshire c. 1830 Item# 1404PEG06-Z A skillfully crafted work. The table is designed with an incredibly broad single solid plank of white pine for the top; breadboard ends" or perpendicular tenons on either side of the top, are affixed with thick square pegs to discourage the tendency of the plank to warp. The top is attached with the same large square pegs driven through the top into the corner posts. The frame members are set in grooves on all four posts and joined with a pair of pegs, the lowest edge with thin scratched bead around all sides. Originally the entire table would have been painted a solid color, hiding the mixed woods used throughout; this has since been ... morescraped and much of the table refinished, though the surface remains quite early and nicely patinated. A single drawer slides over pine runners(left runner replaced) the original runner set in a tongue groove in the front and back; construction of the drawer is clean and effective, with tidy dovetails in the frame and the bottom deeply chamfered and set in grooves on either side, a single tack(now absent) originally affixing this board in place. The whole table rests over ring turned and tapering legs, each terminating in a turned and elongated ball foot. A fine acquisition for anyone passionate about American Folk Art and attracted to forms with deep patina and a primitive appeal. Materials: Eastern White Pine(top; drawer runners; drawer sides. Back and bottom; back of frame) Birch(legs) Maple(sides of frame, front of frame and front of drawer) Measurements: 45 5/8" wide x 28" deep x 26 3/4" high; 18 5/8" high to underside of frame Condition Report: Top is almost certainly original. This is a wonderful antique Tavern Table from the early to mid 18th Century. The base is of Maple. And has been reduced in stature by time and wear. The table is 32" wide, 21.5" deep, and 25" tall. The top is of Pine wood in two pieces. It bows slightly, and As the grain goes together, I believe that it was 1 piece in the beginning. It has an old re-finish, and the dovetails on the drawer have been nailed into place due to shrinkage. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. A precise highly shaped apron, gracefully cabriolet formed legs terminating in carved trifid feet, original brasses, pinned joined, big rose head nails and a wonderful old finish. Very Nice Antique Chester County Walnut Queen Anne Splay Leg Tavern Table 1780's Very nice early tavern or work table Great form. Wonderfully scalloped apron. There is not one nail the the construction of this little gem. The batons holding the SINGLE board walnut top. Are dovetailed to the top, then pinned through onto the apron. The legs are mortised and pinned onto the corners that make up the apron. Great tapered and splayed legs The cabinet maker that made this table. Had quite a bit of skill to build this table. Tapered and splayed legs are a relative rarity. One apology on this awesome table is somebody for whatever reason had this table apart in pieces. One of the legs has beef replaced quite a few years ago. While they followed the correct construction methods, they used poplar for the leg. Bummer. There is also a repaired patch ... moreon the top The rest of the table is constructed from walnut. If your a serious collector. This will horribly detract from the value of this table, however if you simply looking for a good useable table, at a good price with a great early look, then this is the one for you! It's a great table at a fraction of the show price of the same one if it had not been repaired. A un-repaired specimen would easily cost in upwards of $1500 at a high end antique show. Antique 18C. Maple & Pine Splayed Leg Tavern Table
Click photos for larger image! Description& Condition: Up for sale is this antique 18C. New England splayed leg tavern table.It has turned legs and a single board top with stretcher base. It appears to be made of maple with a pine top. The top is pegged on as are the legs to the sides. The top measures 25 1/2" by 18 1/4" by 21 3/4" tall and is in good condition for it's age. The top has some shrinkage cracks and the button feet are worn off but is has a nice patina to the wood and is a very usable table. You don't see them too often with the splayed leg!
