American New England Queen Anne Pad Foot Diminutive Gate Leg Card Antique Table
Diminutive American Queen Anne Drop Leaf Table c. 1750-70 New England States. Maple Primary woods, Pine frame Resting over tapered legs and pad feet Item# 120011IQO24 This is a uniquely diminutive and quite attractive Queen Anne drop leaf table. Crafted of solid Maple in the New England States during the mid-to-late 18th Century, probably 1750-1770. The shapely top opens over ruled joints for a clean and broad surface- excellent dimensions for use as a functional card table or breakfast table, folding up as a wonderful hall table or dining room server. In 18th century homes, it was important that dining and entertaining furniture could be used flexibly for multiple uses, both functionally as a useful piece when hosting company, but also aesthetically to enhance the beauty of a given room. This table, with it's wonderful dimensions and ... morefine lines, clearly would have been a desirable piece in most households of the period. Originally this table would have been painted. Evidence still in the corners and crevices of a white paint that may have been the original color. One leaf is a solid plank of solid maple, the top and one other leaf crafted of two pieces of broad maple, all hanging over entirely original hand forged iron hinges- several of the original screws are still preserved in these. The table rests over a primarily pine frame, one leg gating outward on each side to reveal the dovetailed construction of the frame, the legs joined to the gate with double pinned tenon-mortise joints and swinging on a thick and heavy knuckle joint. The legs are perfect turned works, each perfectly tapering into a tiny ankle before flowing into the soft padded foot. This is an outstanding find for the collector and decorator alike- in excellent structural condition. Fully capable of regular use as a card table and serving table alike, this is a piece that if well cared for will last through many generations in your family. Measurements: 37 1/2" wide x 37 1/4" diameter when opened 27" high; leaf 1 = 12 13/16&quo

American Federal Mid-Atlantic Cherry Candlestand Antique Side Table c. 1790-1810
American Federal Period Cherry Antique Candle Stand(Side Table) Resting over"Spider" form legs. Mid-Atlantic States, c. 1790-1810 Item# 130001WLG27(note. The chair, book and candlestick are not part of this listing- they are pictured only to give visual dimensions and proportions) This is a simply gorgeous American Federal Cherry Candle Stand crafted of solid Cherry in the Mid-Atlantic states. C. 1790-1810. It is a very handsome piece, the top crafted from a single solid board of cherry with shapely scalloped corners and rectangular form. The back of the top is relatively undisturbed, every single screw appearing to be fully original and in it's original hole- they were likely removed when it was refinished, as there is not evidence of finish buildup along the rails, but each was very carefully restored to it's original ... morespace and remain firm and strong. Despite shrinking over the years, the table still functions without flaw, lifting and latching smoothly and providing a sturdy and level surface. The shaft is shaped with wonderful detail. Starting at the bottom in a succession of swelling and receding rings under the urn-form baluster from which sprouts the thin turned pillar lifting the square solid cherry head. The triform"Spider" legs flow out from the base, where they join with a thick dovetail, to terminate in plain square feet. The underside of the shaft reveals the rough unfinished joinery, clean and without evidence of nails or an absent bracket- as a result of not being secured with a triform bracket, the legs have broken out from the pedestal and have been restored at some point in the past. They remain in very sturdy condition as a result of the workmanship. An outstanding presentation. This work of art was designed to be flexible in any number of design scenarios in the home- as a fully functional antique side table or antique candle stand for beside the bed. Between two windows, beside an arm chair or tilted in the corner. This is a piece that can be utilized actively, cha

American Queen Anne Octagonal Candle Stand Antique Side Table, Massachusetts
American Queen Anne Octagonal Candle Stand Side Table Boston(note underside suggesting a Newton. MA origin) or Coastal Massachusetts Item# 130003OFF16 This is a wonderful American Queen Anne Candle Stand. Crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century during the years of 1775-1800 out of very dense and well figured mahogany. The octagonal top is uncommon and very desirable, cut from a solid plank of mahogany with edges molded of the solid. Beneath the table, a chamfered batten stretches across the surface entirely undisturbed, still retaining it's original hand filed iron screws- the craftsman was generous with screws used to secure the top, recognizing the danger only a few screws could pose to the table top when shrinking and expanding occurs. As a result, the top is free of cracks or splits, retaining the same grain display the ... moreboard was chosen for originally. Beneath the table is an old yellowed note. Secured beneath nailed plastic, reading"Frank Morton from his loving mother Mary Alice Smith, Newton Towne, Nov. 15, 1898. while this possibly attributes the table to Newton, MA, parallels can also be made to design elements in this table to Boston and Essex County Massachusetts. The pedestal illustrates the standard design of coastal Massachusetts. A long tapered pillar over the ringed urn baluster. Beneath the pedestal is very attractive and quite distinctive scalloping, first in the legs on either side of the pedestal and followed in the actual shaft. The cabriole legs lock into the pedestal in the typical dovetailed manner beneath an iron tri-form bracket. Identified as a"triangle" in price lists of the period, this still retaining it's original rosehead nails. The feet are incredibly attractive, a bulbous snake footed form with an outstanding profile that shrinks sharply into the tiny ankles of the leg. This is a piece you will cherish for a lifetime in any serious collection- exceptional in every way. It has been preserved carefully with originality preserved in nearly every asp

American Chippendale Antique Drop Leaf Dining Table, Pennsylvania or Delaware
American Chippendale Walnut Drop Leaf Dining Table. Pennsylvania or Delaware c. 1760-80 Probably Delaware River Valley. Originally One of a Pair Straight Marlborough Legs Item# 130002IWT18 The drop leaf dining table was a very prominent form in homes of the higher classes during the Chippendale and Federal periods. A working solution to the problem of balancing space with flexibility in a home that entertained company regularly. It allowed for tables to be posed as pier or serving tables against the wall, making the room large and inviting during a social engagement, these being brought out as needed to recreate a dining room. This table was almost certainly part of a pair originally. Two sets of bracket holes on one leaf evidence of clasps that would have attached to the leaves of the other table to create a solid surface. A pair of tables ... morevery similar in form, though crafted with solid board leaves, was offered at Christies in 2003( Lot 322. Sale 1189, sold as a pair for $13,145) Intact pairs of this form are rather uncommon as these were regularly broken up as they were passed down in families. The top is crafted of five boards butt-jointed with tongue-in-groove joinery assisting in all but one leaf. This probably a later solution to the uneven shrinking of the boards, secured from the underside with butterfly dovetails. The leaves hang over ruled joints, lifting on two swinging gate legs, the frame and knuckle crafted of solid oak double pinned to the square Marlborough leg. The oak rails are affixed with scattered rosehead nails to the poplar frame rails coupled with one original hand filed screw set in wells into the top on both sides, these boards joined to the mahogany front and back rails with exposed dovetails behind the gate legs. Three dovetailed walnut braces join the frame to the top, these absent several screws, the top likewise secured with three hand filed screws set evenly in wells through the mahogany front and back rails. A single thick walnut brace dovetails into either side of the botto

American Queen Anne Serpentine Top Tilting Antique Tea Table, Late 18th Century
Fine American Queen Anne Serpentine Top Tilting Tea Table In the manner of Joseph Short(1771-1819) Probably North Shore. Massachusetts- possibly Connecticut Item# 130006RUP13 Possibly by Joseph Short(1771-1819) of Newburyport. MA or a contemporary during the same period, this fine American Queen Anne Tilting Top Tea Table is an unusually attractive specimen. The top is an incredibly broad single plank of Birch with a molded edge carved of the solid in a soft reverse serpentine. Generally these tops are of at least two boards, sometimes with a small third board making up the edge- to be crafted of a full single plank and still maintain the original cleats and smooth function is quite a feat; shrinking and expanding can often have dire consequences on the cleats, resulting in a top that is either cracked or too compressed against the square ... morehead of the pedestal to be functional. Surviving in excellent condition. The table maintains it's original untouched cleats, mostly original screws, original brass latch(and period replaced clasp on the square head of the pedestal) and original tri-form iron bracket beneath the feet. The square pedestal head is a block of cherry chamfered along the underside, the pedestal tenoned through it in a square. The solid cherry pedestal is robust with a wonderful swollen baluster beneath tight ring turnings and over three cabriole legs that terminate in raised pad feet. The legs intersect with the base in soft scalloping that works to soften the flow of the joint, these joining into the pedestal with large dovetails. Finished with a glossy and attractive wax over shellac. The worn and oxidized patina of the wood maintains it's preserved glow and character. This is an exceptional piece for serious collectors of American antique furniture. Measurements: 31 3/8" x 31" top width/height; 24 5/8" from foot to foot Condition Report: Fine mellow refinish. Cleats original and untouched. Mostly original hand filed screws still securing these to the underside of the table wi

Fine American Chippendale Antique Card Table, Pennsylvania 18th Century c 1760
Fine American Chippendale Mahogany Card Table over Marlborough Legs Pennsylvania c. 1775-1785 in nearly untouched condition Primary Woods: Mahogany[tops. Primary case, legs, molding] Secondary Woods: Golden Oak[gate leg frame] Yellow Pine[back board of frame, runners, interior blocking] Cedar[triangular blocks under drawer bottom] Poplar[drawer sides and bottom] Item# 130108MWT12 This is an exceptional work of art. An American Chippendale Mahogany Card Table from Pennsylvania circa the last quarter of the 18th Century, likely crafted between 1775-85. The table is remarkably well preserved, almost entirely untouched other than regular maintenance of the finish through periodic and regular waxing- the finish beneath is possibly not original, or at least partially restored, but is very early and highly patinated. Every aspect of the table is ... moreoriginal, including the highly delicate C-Scroll returns that flank each leg- these are replaced or damaged with high frequency due to their precarious nature, particularly the left rear bracket, as this is only secured at the table frame and does not attach to the gating leg. Clearly the table remained in one area without being moved or roughly handled for much of it's life. The top is crafted of broad solid planks of mahogany. Each just under an inch thick and spanning the entire depth of 17 3/4" without a second board. The figure is warm and flowing, a rich pudding surface that is even more evident on the cleaner"game" surface. The top lifts over original hinges to rest on the gating back leg, this crafted with golden oak making up both ends of the knuckled board, tenoned into the rear left leg and pinned with two wooden pegs. A single drawer pulls out from the front with an outstanding Rococo pair of brasses, likely imports from England and fully original, the edge of the drawer lined with a thin cockbead molding to give shape to the drawer. The drawer is framed with poplar secondaries, the deeply chamfered bottom sliding into rabbets along the sides with

Rare Pair of American Federal Mahogany Antique Card Tables, Philadelphia c. 1790
Rare Pair of American Federal Mahogany Card Tables Possibly Philadelphia or New England States c. 1790-1800 Item# 130108USB12 This is a fantastic and rare acquisition- a fully original Pair of American Federal Mahogany Card Tables. They probably originate from Philadelphia. Though this form is also found in New York and the New England States. The tops are simply above reproach, each a single solid plank of mahogany with stringer inlay along the outer edges; the curved ovolu corners are sharp and precise, the boards each displaying magnificent dense grains and lifting over original untouched hinges. Brilliant mahogany veneers are edged with cockbead molding applied along the lower edge. All four legs have great form, these a distinctive evolution of the Marlboro leg with a well developed taper. Beneath the mahogany veneers. The sides of the ... moretables are crafted mostly of white pine with some solid mahogany; the back gate leg is oak and the back of the frame is white pine. The gate leg is affixed to the back of the frame with eight wrought nails on one table, seven wrought nails on the other. Original blocking is retained on one table, the other crafted without this blocking- interior structure shows no evidence of the table ever having been crafted with the blocking, which was probably deemed superfluous in light of the remarkable strength of the structure. Another minor variation between the tables is the gate leg: one table has a double pinned tenon joint, the other table crafted with the same tenon joint but only using glue. For any serious collector of fine American Federal antiques. This is an exceptional pair of card tables. They are very rare and difficult to acquire in original pairs, often being separated by heirs as family members divide out the inheritance. Remaining in an excellent state of preservation, these are a very desirable acquisition. Measurements: table one] 37 5/8" wide x 18 1/4" deep x 29 5/8" high; 36 11/16" deep x 29" high when opened; table two] 37 5/8" wide

Rare American Chippendale Antique Table, Single Drop Leaf, Ball & Claw c.1770-90
Rare American Chippendale One Leaf Table American Black Walnut w/ Shell Carved Legs on Ball& Claw Feet Probably Connecticut River Valley. C. 1770-90 Item# 130309GZP24 A fine work of the American Chippendale period. This is an exceedingly rare form. Termed by Wallace Nutting a"Sideboard Table" the form is generally recognized as a One Leaf Drop Leaf Table, a piece intended for display against the wall with it's exposed apron facing out. As such, the front two legs are highlighted with beautiful raised shells while the rear legs are unadorned. Crafted of what appears to be[not micro-analyzed] an American Black Walnut of well selected flowing grain. The top board and leaf both display a wonderful ribbing at the center surrounded by wide flowing veins; similarly in the apron and legs, the veins are large and run in distinct ... morechannels in a way that enhances the cabriole of the leg and does not distract from the scrolling scallop of the apron. While single leaf drop-leaf tables are predominantly found in Massachusetts. This table exhibits every indication of being of Connecticut craftsmanship with the distinct influence of Delaware River Valley tradition in it's construction and form. The sides of the apron are recessed, the inner edges of the leg posts being thumb molded and flanking the inset apron and knee returns, clearly reminiscent of Philadelphia treatment of this leg[see Kugelman. P. 136, fig 3.5 for a discussion of similar features on a dining table with East Windsor CT provenance and likely origin] Likewise. The pinned tenon-mortise joinery in the frame and legs is borrowed from this region. The intensely scalloped apron exudes grace and liveliness with a repeating lobe flanked by a half step[for similar apron treatments see Kugelman. P. 88-91- those documented of Wethersfield, Connecticut craftsmanship] The purity of the craftsmanship is representative of a very accomplished artisan; every detail is perfected. Note the close up images of the underside of the returns; while usually these

OLD Antique Flame Mahogany American Games Table 18th C on Mid Century Base
This is a marriage of a very old beautiful table top and mid century base and legs. The top of table is amazing. It believe it is flame mahogany. There was some type of apron around the bottom edge that has been removed. As you can see there is a huge patina difference where it was. The bottom of table has never been stained. There is a mid century base that has been added to make it a coffee table height. I am not a furniture expert. But I estimate the table top to be 18th or early 19th C. The base and legs are 1950's or 60's. Table is about 35 inches across. I think it is just two mirror image boards. There is a partial age crack that is lighter colored on the bottom, but It does not go all the way across. You can't see it at all on the top. The table is in very good to excellent condition with some minor wear as shown. I have ... moretaken several close ups for your consideration. There are also a couple of small knots in the bottom of table. They are not on the top. I see no shadow of where a base would have been in the middle. This is a mystery table.Very interesting! If you know about furniture, I would like to hear your opinion of the age of the table top. What do you think?

American Queen Anne Antique Candle Stand w/ Shaped Cherry Top, Late 18th Century
American Queen Anne Cherry Candle Stand New England States. C. Late 18th Century Item# 130008FDA12 This very cute American Queen Anne Antique Candle Stand is simply a treasure. Of quite petite dimensions. It is a piece that was crafted to be truly functional and enjoyable in a room without redefining the space. It was almost certainly made in the New England States during the last days of the 18th Century; crafted of solid cherry, the top is a beautiful solid plank shaped with oxbow corners and an ogee edge carved of the solid. The bottom is deeply oxidized, revealing variations in the surface with the unfinished hand-planing marks still clearly evident along the exposed surface. The pedestal tenons through a rectangular base, this affixed to the top with three hand filed steel screws set in chip carved wells. A simple turned pedestal emphasizes ... morethe graceful flow of the table, again without over-embellishment and in harmony with the choice of cherry and the soft curve of the snake legs. The legs tenon into the pedestal with small dovetails, the feet terminating in pointed shoes. A wonderful find for any period home where a small functional table is necessary for a living space. Perhaps beside the sofa or a fine Period chair, this is a piece you will cherish and enjoy regularly for a lifetime. Measurements: top] 16" x 15 1/2" 25 3/4" high Condition Report: Top has slight warp to it. Visible in the pictures. Dings, abrasions and burn marks throughout, all visible in the pictures; cracks in the pedestal and one old crack in a leg. Finish is replaced, probably 20th Century. One leg is repaired, possibly(though highly unlikely) a replacement- it has the same even preserved patina beneath the shellac as the other legs. Retains it's original screws, one absent. Please review all images in the slideshow for a full overview of condition.

American Queen Anne Antique Table Candle Stand, Cherry, prob. CT c. 1790-1810
American Queen Anne Cherry Candle Stand[Antique Side Table] Federal Period. Late 18th Century c. 1790-1810 Item# 130010AQS26 This is an absolute treasure. A very fine American Queen Anne Candle Stand crafted during the late 18th Century in the New England States- almost certainly Connecticut. The form is simple but excellent, the octagonal top in two boards of solid cherry with a recessed molded edge framing the smooth and undistracted grains of the top. The underside edge of the top is chamfered to lighten and even sharpen the shape of the top against the eye. Highly successful, the table floats with exacting proportions and absolutely no excess. Supported over a precisely turned pedestal, this swells only softly at the middle in a turned ring, based and crested by a multitude of rings before it tenons into the solid cherry cleat under the ... moretable top. The cleat too is bevelled along the edges and affixed to the top with a set of original and untouched hand filed steel screws. The table rests over three ogival legs, each tenoned into the base with a small dovetail and capped with an original tri-form bracket with untouched original screws still holding it firmly in place; the legs snake along in a smooth taper in plain toes, two of these repaired due to weakness inherent in the design. A neat little row of chip-carved impressions circle the base between each leg. With a dry and highly attractive surface under old layers of wax, the patina is finely preserved and quite nice. Pleasing in every way. This handsome table is a very fine acquisition for any serious collector of American furniture- remaining in nearly untouched condition, it will be cherished in your collection for a lifetime. Measurements: 17 1/2" along grain. 18" wide against grain, 28 1/8" high; 21" between toes Condition Report: Two feet repaired. Coupled with repairs to base behind feet(plugged screws) Original bracket, all screws original- hardware and cleat are untouched. Dry surface throughout with some traces of white paint in

American Federal Mahogany Breakfast Table, Mid Atlantic States c. 1790 Antique
CHEST OF DRAWERS ANTIQUE CHAIRS TABLES BRONZE SCULPTURES FINE PAINTINGS SCHOOL OF ORIGIN SUBJECT LAMPS. LIGHTING AMERICAN FEDERAL MAHOGANY BREAKFAST TABLE Mid Atlantic States. Probably Maryland c. 1790-1800 Item# 100009RQI12 The caramelized warmth of the mahogany in this breakfast table make it particularly eye-catching. The craftsman was careful in his selection of mahogany for the top of the table. This almost equally balanced between shimmering striations of grains and deep swirling and ribbing exhibited in a single leaf and into the middle board. Each plank is a single solid board, unembellished by inlay or anything that would distract from the natural beauty of each leaf. The corners are characterized by deep ovolu insets, these side leaves lifted over small"wings" with carved finger holds on the ends, pivoting from the frame ... moreon internal dowels. The frame is austere in it's rectangular profile, the single drawer sliding from the front with it's original stamped brass and ring hardware. The bottom panel of the drawer is chamfered along the edges and set in grooves on the sides and front with it's grain running parallel to the front, flush nailed with three square iron nails along the back edge and reinforced with square poplar glue blocks. The leaves retain their original iron hinges, each untouched and retaining their hand cut steel screws. A thin stringer inlay lines the edge of the frame over plain tapered legs. A very attractive example for collectors of American Federal furnishings. Preserved in exceptional condition, this is a fine and affordable acquisition. Materials: Mahogany top. Leaves, solid drawer front, legs, back of frame, wing stop; Poplar drawer sides, most drawer blocks, underside of drawer(wings appear to be poplar, not closely examined) Yellow Pine drawer back, sides of table frame, drawer runners inside frame Measurements: 20 ½” wide(closed) 38 ¼” wide(opened) x 29 ¾” long x 28 ¼” high Condition Report: Old refinish with well preserved patina- a l

Rare American Chippendale One Leaf Antique Sideboard Table, Connecticut c. 1770
RARE AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE SIDEBOARD TABLE WITH ONE LEAF. CONNECTICUT C. 1770-90 With Shell Carved Legs on Ball& Claw Feet Probably Connecticut River Valley. C. 1770-90 Item# 130309GZP24 A fine work of the American Chippendale period. This is an exceedingly rare form. Termed by Wallace Nutting a"Sideboard Table" the form is more generally recognized as a"One Leaf Drop Leaf Table" a piece intended for display against the wall with it's exposed apron facing out. As such, the front two legs are highlighted with beautiful raised shells while the rear legs are unadorned. Crafted of what appears to be[not micro-analyzed] an American Black Walnut of well selected flowing grain. The top board and leaf both display a wonderful ribbing at the center surrounded by wide flowing veins; similarly in the apron and legs, the veins ... moreare large and run in distinct channels in a way that enhances the cabriole of the leg and does not distract from the scrolling scallop of the apron. Note the close up images of the underside of

Fine American Chippendale Walnut Dining Table, Pennsylvania Antique c. 1760-70
The drop leaf table was a very prominent form in homes of the higher classes. A wonderful solution to entertaining regularly in the home. This table whole part of a pair originally, only a little part missing on the bottom of one leg. Construction: The top is crafted of five boards butt-jointed with tongue-in-groove joinery assisting in all but one leaf. This probably a later solution to the uneven shrinking of the boards, secured from the underside with butterfly dovetails. The leaves hang over ruled joints, lifting on two swinging gate legs, the frame and knuckle crafted of solid oak double pinned to the square Marlborough leg. The oak rails are affixed with scattered rosehead nails to the poplar frame rails coupled with one original hand filed screw set in wells into the top on both sides, these boards joined to the mahogany front and ... moreback rails with exposed dovetails behind the gate legs. Three dovetailed walnut braces join the frame to the top, these absent several screws, the top likewise secured with three hand filed screws set evenly in wells through the mahogany front and back rails. A single thick walnut brace dovetails into either side of the bottom of the frame, reglued during the 20th Century. This form is less than typical. One that does not appear on the market frequently. Crafted with the clean simplicity we cherish in works of Chester County and the Delaware River Valley, the table is free of embellishment or unnecessary decoration- a well patinated surface shows great character, this emboldened by the strength and masculinity of the block feet. It is a piece you will cherish in your collection for a lifetime. Materials: Oak(outer rails. Gate leg frame) Poplar(sides of interior frame) Walnut(front and back of table frame, all leaves and legs) Measurements: 49 1/2" deep x 43" wide x 28" high; leaves are 17" in depth. Condition Report: Finish is somewhat early beneath many layers of later wax. Though the surface has much variation of color, including scars, abrasions and other u

American Queen Anne Cherry Antique Tilting Tea Table, Pennsylvania c. 1770
AMERICAN QUEEN ANNE CHERRY TILTING BIRDCAGE TEA TABLE Possibly Chester County. C. 1770 Item# 501GKR17P This fine American Queen Anne tilting tea table is probably a work of Chester or a nearby county. The table is preserved in outstanding condition. The restorations completed very competently and with great respect for the originality of the work. Typical of the smaller cherry planks, the upper third of the top probably started to separate from the lower two-thirds from shrinking along the grains at one point, which was healed by routing the back and inserting a splice to join the two leaves from the back. Often this is healed with a line of dovetails, so this is a somewhat imaginative and quite effective mechanism. The gap is completely healed and has resolved any bowing that may have been in the planks. Behind the top, the original cleats ... moreare affixed to the top with a series of screws set in the original wells; battens are spliced on either outer edge of the cleats to also help with what was probably a slight bow in the wood. Tenons projecting from the birdcage into the cleats allow the top to tilt easily, locking in place with it's original brass clasp and catch, both unmoved from their original positions. The birdcage is a work of sheer beauty, the tiny swollen baluster pedestals making up the corners in nearly exact replication of the larger pedestal of the table- even down to the smallest detail of the scratched beading around the midriff of the swell. These tenon through the top of the birdcage and are locked in place with split-wedges. A half-moon wedge slides through the turned collar to lock the birdcage into the void of the pedestal; typical of Chester County tables, the wedge and placement of the birdcage pillars is such that the table can easily rotate a full three-hundred and sixty degrees without touching the wedge or being in anyway inhibited. The pedestal is a wonderfully turned from a thick block of cherry, the recesses showing the alligatored and dirty cloudiness of the retained early finis

Antique American Maple Tilt Top Tea Table mid to late 1700's snakehead feet
Very old antique tilt top table. Queen Anne style. Beautiful legs and pedestal. The top has been hand refinished by me, using very fine grade sand paper to remove old blotchy finish. I did a good job gently fine tuning the top but am not happy with the lighter stain or un smooth sealer. I know the top is maple. I put a mahogany stain on it to match the stain on pedestal and legs. So the base could be mahogany or it very well could be maple as well. There have been repairs to the top of square piece of wood that sits atop pedestal, and bottom of table top where it is joined to the square piece that has the tilting mechanism. I see lots of repairs when I look at bottom of table top.newer screws, etc. I tried showing all detail in photos. I put a satin Varathane type sealer on top but it left tiny bubbles, which I tried sanding out but the finish ... moreis quite hard and won't take a"very fine" grade sand paper so there are flaws in finish. The color of top matches bottom pretty well but it is quite a bit lighter and not as opaque as the bottom part of table.the grain shows more on top. Round top measures 31 3/8" by 32 3/8" age shrinkage has caused it to be not perfectly round) The height is approximately 28" The top needs to be propped up on one end in order to get it to be level. The pedestal and legs seem to be in wonderful condition.sturdy. Not wobbly but that could be because there is that metal plate that has been hammered into place at bottom of base where the legs are joined. Don't know if that hammered tin is original or repair. Will be happy to ship if buyer arranges everything!
