Ophthalmometer This Jules Verne looking device is used to quantitatively examine corneal irregularities and astigmatism. There is a telescope on examiner’s side to see the light reflexes of the projected images on the patient’s cornea. It is made of painted and unpainted brass and wrought iron. Violet light wand unit - Quack Medical -Sterling frequency generator -in case
Very cool violet light wand unit. This is one of the coolest of these units i have seen. It has a stand alone frequency generator by the Sterling Corporation with great logos and styling. The original cloth cords add to the vintage look of this collector piece. The unit has not been tested. And I offer no warrantee as to functionality or appropriateness for any use other than as a collectors display piece. I am including 1 tube with the unit. It is intact, but also is untested. Antique Quack Medical Dinshah Spectro-Chrome Color Therapy Projector
This machine was invented and patented by Dinshah P. Bhadiali who produced these color therapy machines in the 1920s. He believed that it cured many different ailments including cancer. He believed by shooting different color lights at certain spots the people could be cured. This machine is excellent working condition. All of the color lenses and clear lenses are intact and still operational. The 1.000 watt bulb still also works. The outer box made of heavy aluminum with some wear in some areas. The cord in frayed and may have to be replaced.

Rare Victor Electric violet ray machine circa 1900 quack medical Tesla coil
Up for auction is a very rare and early Victor Electric violet ray machine. Let me start off by saying this is sold for display ONLY. This is a very dangerous device and whatever you do with this you do at your own risk. There are plenty of ways to be killed by this machine since its makers had no concern for safety. As you can see, it has seen better days, but I did run it for about 2 seconds and I got a ½ inch spark between the electrodes at the top, but working condition is not guaranteed and I don’t plan on firing it up again. All this needs to be a nice display item is a fresh coat of paint and some polishing. It was designed to run on 110 or 104 volts AC or DC(the previous owner unhooked the 104 volt terminal internally) and the power is applied to the un-insulated terminals on the base. Touching these or any other metal parts ... morewhile power is applied will probably kill you so please don’t! Now for the bad news: There is no continuity between the electrodes unfortunately(not sure if that was the case before I fired it up) So there is a break somewhere in the secondary(probably in the wire going to the top part) The wire exiting from the side is present but does not go to the terminal anymore(you will need to extend and reconnect it) However the primary is still good and measures 52 ohms. The paint on the base flakes off with just a gentle touch, so expect more of it to be missing when it arrives. I have removed the electrodes for safe shipping so look for them in the package. The pictures are very much a part of the description, so please examine them closely before bidding. This machine is sold as-is for display only(no returns! Here we have an antique Quack electroshock therapy device. Called the"Congress Medical Apparatus" made by George C. Frye of Portland, ME. The paper shown in photo 6 reads, Directions for Using Congress Medical Apparatus. WITH MESCO DRY CELL BATTERY. The small switch to the left of the base is used to put the battery in operation. The cell is working only when this switch is on the contact stud, cousequently the life of the cell will be prolonged by taking care not to turn it on until everything is read for the application, and to turn it off promptly when through. The rheotome, or current iterrupter, should commence to hum or vibrate as soon as the switch is turned on its stud; if it does not do so, draw it towards the coil and release it suddenly. the contact screw should be adjusted so that the vibrating spring against the coil. ... moreThree different currents are obtained from the apparatus: the mildest or primary current(alone) by placeing the cord tips in the contact holes marked 1 and 2. By placing the tips in 2 and 3, the secondary current(alone) is obtained, and by placing them in 1 and 3 the combined currents are given out. No. 1 is negative, and either 2 or 3 positive when used with No. 1. Nos. 2 and 3 together give alternating pulsations. The strength of all the currents can be varied by moving the regulator or core shield of the coil; the further out this shield is drawn the stronger the currents become. One cell will last from 4 to 12 months, according to the length and frequency of applications. Antique Quack? Medicine IONTAPHOR Medical Device FREE SHIPPING!!!
This auction is for a device that I thought might be a quack medical device but it seems the modern version of it is a very lucrative and high quality instrument. And quite costly I might add. I suppose this is one of the early versions, probably not pre 30s but more likely in the forties. It is made by a W. D. Tallman in Ashland Ohio. The divice here is pretty much all there but upon removing the dial cover I find all the parts, but a three pronged cord with nothing plugged into it. It might have been the power source, ie. some sort of battery or something. I can't really explain the purpose of this Iontaphor but it has something to do with aligning the ions in the body to absorb more medicines or something to that effect. It contains the wires and several lead sheets for connectivity, a glass test tube and a cloth wrap and of course ... morethe meter and switch panel. One source even listed it as a device to enable the enamel in the teeth to absorb medicine. I hope you know much more about this than I do. You are bidding on an antique Shelton violet ray quack machine. It includes probes. None of the three are broken and I got two to light up purple. There is a medal cap which one appears to be cracked but I think it could be repaired. Original box is not in great condition, the inside is better then the outside with purple material. it's age, though it does show signs of use, wear. Bakelite violet wand that plugs in and has original cloth wiring are all in very good to excellent condition for their age. This unit does power up and throws a nice spark. A full corked bottle of"DR. KING'S NEW DISCOVERY" and box it came in. It says revision 1921 on the box. The bottle is in excellent condition and apparently never opened. It has chloroform which would put the user out of their misery. The bottle is embossed too(see photo) It is 8-1/4 inches tall. Box is tattered and torn at the top and missing some cardboard and the closing flaps. I glued and taped pieces back on the top area as can be seen in the photos. They were made with different metals that promised to create a healing electrical current when pressed against your skin. This a small single unit stimulating quackery device having the one glass tube with its black bakelite handle. And a chromed shaft as well.which I cannot quite determine was originally with the set. The maker was from Racine, WI, the WESTERN COIL& ELECTRICAL CO, and I believe is 1920's. The glass wand is perfect, no breaks. The box has its original handle, and has some rubs on the exterior as the photo should reveal. Up for auction is another early labeled and also embossed patent medicine heyday product called Radway's Renovating Resolvent. This example is especially nice and quite scarce to rare since its complete with the original box which is dated 1874. Most of the original contents are still present with little evaporation, cork top with some of the RRR Radways proprietary medicine paper seal still present across the cork closure. Definitely in NEVER BEEN OPENED condition which is a rare find indeed! This fine example undoubtably dates during the patent medicine heyday of 1870-1900. My old collecting notes indicate this item reportedly came out of a Montana pharmacy which closed back in the 1960's- I found it hiding in Kansas City. Missouri at the then Old Westport fleamarket back in the 1970's along with an equally scarce Dr. Sawyers ... moreFamily Cure also with the original box and contents, both of which have been in my collection ever since. Unfortunately, I don't have the Dr. Sawyers anymore, it was sold a few years ago. One of the better-known illustrators of this era, used an art nouveau style to produce a classic white knight theme. This white knight charges at a tobacco plant that is drawn to look like a devil/demon. Effectively driving his lance through demon tobacco. Whether this cure worked is not known. However. It is interesting to note that over a hundred years after this advertisement, the Food& Drug Administration has sought authorization to regulate tobacco as a narcotic. There is a brochure included. I am not sure if the brochure is original. It looks to be in too good of condition. The bottom of the Pulser is stamped S.O.S. Electric Pulser Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. Is in great condition, works perfectly, is completely intact and has absolutely no cracks, chips, dings, dents, repairs, rust or pitting whatsoever. The set was very well cared for by the original owner. I apologize for the glare in some of the photos but it could not be helped. The machine is stamped The Master Electric Co.
