I like old rustic pieces and thought this was interesting. I like the old porcelain thermometer with silver mercury. I also like the barometer dial. I bought it and am selling it"as is" not working because I don't want anyone returning it saying it is not working or is not accurate even though it is accurate in my house. Antique/Vintage Hand Blown Decorative Glass Barometer
I found this at an estate sale. I do not know the age. I put vintage on the ad for more exposure and that is where I found the similar shaped barometers. It has a blue tint to it with what appears to be oriental designs. What is unique is that the art work is either between the glass or on the inside, as the outside is smooth as can be. There are no chips or cracks, weighs about 2 1/2 lbs. Overall dimensions are 11" x 4 1/2" x 5 1/4" deep at the widest point. A wonderful antique English pocket barometer by Negretti& Zambra of London. With movable pointer on the bezel and in its original case. Dating from around 1880 and in very good condition though it doesn't seem to work correctly(the needle does move when the setting screw is turned but it doesn't change with the weather) and the box's hinge doesn't stay attached, scratch to the face is to the dial, not a glass crack. It weighs 133 grams in total and measures 48 mm diameter. The final photo shows it with a US penny(1 cent) coin for scale, which measures 19 mm diameter. The Oak case is in good solid condition but needs a rub down as it has a few scratches but no damage, the barometer glass is cracked but the movement looks ok, the thermometer is not working but the Brass scale behind it is in good condition. It measures 13 3/4 inches high and 6 1/2 inches wide at the widest point, the hole for the movement is 3 1/2 inches wide, the enamel dial is 3 3/4 inches wide. Antique Late 1800s German Weather Clock/Barometer Wood w/Composition Figurines
Here we have a late 1800's Antique German Weather Clock/Weather Barometer. She is old& in some rough shape. Considering that this one was brought over personally when the family immigrated here from Germany. This one is more a shelf piece than it is anything else I have not had it where I could watch"weather" or not the people are shifting in and out of the house. Everything is in German& English the markings and the instructions. On the deck the left side says Schon/Fine weather, in the middle it says Veranderlich/variable, and on the right Regen/Rainy. The original instructions were mounted to the back of the clock and considering their age they are in pretty good condition. This item is 6" tall, 6" wide, 4" deep. The deer is missing the antlers and the item is a little rough and reassured by some wire ... morewrapped around the item to make sure it does not get any more damage. But is now in need of repair. The glass is broken and the set screws are missing which holds the brass case in the wood frame. It must surely need adjustment by now. The item measures 5 1/2" x 7" to top of loop) The heavy weight beveled glass is broken but intact.the break radiating out from the brass adjustment knob in the center. The face is white enamel with black and red lettering. There is some writing on the face at the bottom but I can't make it out. Samuel Thaxter was born in Hingham. Massachusetts in 1769 and died in Boston in 1842. He is first listed in the 1796 Boston Directory as a mathematical instrument maker. By 1822 he is listed a Samuel Thaxter& Son(Joseph H. Thaxter) Eventually grandson, Samuel Thaxter Cushing(1821-1882) took over the business around 1843. The last entry of the company(as Samuel Thaxter& Son) in the Boston Directory is 1916. Antique Barometer manufactured by G. Berry& Son of West Hartlepool. England. Barometer measures 8 3/4" in diameter and is 2 3/4" thick. Case is made of grey metal(Tin? Pewter? painted black. Bezel at front of brass and glass is thick(1/4" and tapered. Bottom of barometer includes thermometer ranging from 0 to 160 degrees Farenheight(15 to 57 degrees C) and works very well. I think the barometric pressure needle was installed(reinstalled) 180 degrees from true reading. Otherwise this device seems to be functioning normally. One mounting tab is missing from the back of the case and one of the retaining nuts has been replaced with a modern nut. Otherwise this item is as made.

Unusual antique carved wood German barometer/thermometer/hygrometer. The piece has"B. Straub" carved on the front and lettering is all in German. I've not seen one that has the hygrometer included. Rather unique. The glass covering the hygrometer needs to be cleaned however. The thermometer section is porcelain with no chips or cracks. The barometer section is also in nice condition with no chips or cracks in the glass. The carving well done in a Black Forest German style.The back side has tin covering the thermometer and barometer sections. It measures 16 1/4" by 6 3/4" approximately. Green felt on the bottom was also removed. It measures 10" x 8.5" x 4.5" and is VERY heavy. A super interesting find. Does it work? I don't know.I haven't a clue how a barometer works so I can't answer for certain.But there is an adjustment mechanism on the back of the barometer which is fully operational.

Tha antique pocket barometer/ altimeter is in full working order. It was made by Callaghan and Co of Bond Street London. It is compensated for temperature. The instrument measures 7cm diameter and is housed in a gilt upon brass case. A rotating dial allows altitudes up to 5000 feet to be measured.
