Up for bids is a great vintage Depose folding magnifying glass. The handle has Depose and what looks to be a rooster embossed into it. The glass measures 5 1/4 inches when unfolded and 3 inches at its widest point when folded up. The glass has no scratches or damage. There is some wear from use as can be seen in the picture. Circa 1900, but please make up your own mind about this. The magnifying glass measures approx 3 1/2 inches(90mm) long and has a brass frame. With a handle which doubles as a suspension loop. It is in good original condition with light wear consistent with its great age. And a scrubbed patch in the centre of the glass, but no damage or repairs. It has three different strength lenses that all fold out independently from the main case but it also has another swing out arm between them that has a small hole in the centre. The handle and frames are made from exactly what it looks like they are made from. And its a really nice well made little piece. The lenses are excellent, perfectly crisp and clear and strong to use. Antique Sterling Silver Magnifying Glass, Loupe - w/ Hole for Chain
Nice antique Sterling Silver handled magnifying glass. Marked sterling. Couldn't find any other marks. Really dark tarnish which makes it look like black silver, which shows the age. There is a hole on the end of the handle that I'm assuming was for a chain to hold it, or where it around your neck. The magnifyer is made of brass, and is in good condition except for a few small spots. It's pretty large inside, see the comparison to my hand, and the handle is hollow. Up for your consideration is this unusual desk magnifying glass that I be lieve is Georgian or Early Vict orian period. The lense i s similar to a Stanhope lense except one end is flat. The lense is made from one thick piece o f glass an d has a convex end on the top and a flat end on the bottom. The sides are done in frosted glass. The handle is a pewter silver color and is screwed on to a metal ring that is wrapped around the outside of the lense by a grooved area in the glass. Measures a little over 1-3/4" tall. 1-1/2" diameter, the han dle is 2-1/4" long and with the glass lense included is almost 4" across. There is a shell shaped chip on the top of the lense on the edge. And two smaller chips on the bottom outside edge. Otherwise there is minor scratches on the base. The rim is horn but was damaged a long time ago and the owner had it replaced by a silver ring all around. This is very unusual and the job was done perfectly. Approximate measurements: 80 mm long/62 mm wide when closed. Condition: opens and closes as it should. There is a tiny piece of horn missing at the bottom but this does not affect in any way the sturdiness of the item. Can be used daily. This antique Magnifying Glass is very Unusual. The magnifying glass measures 2 3/8" in diameter. It is attached to another leather like cord. The magnifying glass appears to be in good condition. Penny is for size comparison. Only six inches tall fully extended. Has a great Art Deco look, I'm guessing 1930s. Base is solid cast iron for stability. Please look close to photos; there are some scratches, but not many and does not draw the eye. Magnification is not marked, but I think fairly substantial, at least for that era. UNUSUAL ANTIQUE ENGLISH GOLD SNAKE SPYGLASS QUIZZING MAGNIFYING GLASS c1840
A terrific antique early Victorian English. Gold filled magnifying glass; beautifully made with alternating chased& plain ropework throughout and unusually, with a tiny chased snake coiled around its shaft. It's fitted with a magnifying/reading glass. Dating from around 1850 if not earlier and in excellent, fully usable condition throughout with no loss or damage bar a couple of light scratches to the glass surface, it weighs 14.8 grams and measures 2 ¾ inches long.
