On the neck of bottle there are two grooves– one for liquid and one for air. When grooves on the stopper meet the grooves on the neck. Liquid can be dropped. IT WORKS AMAZINGLY WELL! If stopper is turned and grooves don't match protrudes bottle is closed(locked) and liquid can not be dropped. Antique pair of French cobalt blue apothecary jars bottles wonderfully enameled
This is a beautiful pair of cobalt apothecary bottles or jars. One is 10 inches tall and the other is 9 7/8 inches tall. They are each approximately 4 ¾ inches in diameter. They have enamel decoration and a spot for the description of the item to be displayed in the center. These must have only been used for display as they were not labeled. We believe they are French. They date to the 19 th century. They are hand blown and the pontil mark is visible on the bottom. The stopper is one solid piece and not hollow. The pieces are gilded inside of the enameling and along the edge near the top. The bottles are in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. One of the lids is stuck and we cannot remove it. The finials on the top have some roughness on each one but we do not believe they are chips. We believe it is roughness from them ... morebeing hand blown. There is rubbing to the gilding. There is some sticker and glue residue on the bottom of each. It is a charming piece with an assortment of contents. Included are: A chest that is approx. 8-1/2" w) x 6-3/4" d) x 8-1/2" h) that opens to slots for 12 bottles. It also has a drawer with a lift out tray. Ten bottles; 6 of these have rough. Unpolished pontils. Most of the bottles have chips to the rim and or stoppers. Two of the bottles are cracked- one of these has a large missing piece from the neck. A glass mortar and pestle and Scales and weights(maybe incomplete) The key is missing and there is no latch. Estate found.set of four art deco apothecary/vanity jars with white etched transfer design. All are in terrific condition with no breakage. One lid is missing. But this bottle does not appear to be part of the set of the other three pieces. There is residue of the original contents(I have no idea what these bottles held.cologne, perfume, bath oils? I will leave the cleaning to the buyer. The tallest bottle measures approx. 8 1/2" tall with a diameter of 3 5/8" The shortest is a lidded jar which measures approx. 3 3/4" tall with a 2 3/4" diameter. The others are in between. Antique Science Lab Apothecary Pharmacy Blown Glass Tooled Lip Flask Bottles
Offering today a pair of what I believe to be early pharmacy or lab type flask bottles. The taller one has a rather crude tooled lip and 2 mold lines on the sides. The smaller one is blown with a ground base. Both are etched with a"L" and measure lines. Tall one measures 9" tall x 3-3/4" acoss base and smaller one is 5-3/4" tall x 3-1/2" across middle. There are no chips or damage. Normal scratches& wear to be found. Smaller one has alot of shelf wear(scratches on bottom) but clear. Larger one could use some cleaning in the bottom. You don't see these bottles very often. No reserve auction!

14 Antique Apothecary Jars Rather nice set of apothecary jars. Approximately 5 3/8" tall with the stoppers. These have a thin piece of glass over the labels. On one of the jars the glass label has come off. Most of the lettering is gone, but the glass is intact and will be included. The brown hydrogen peroxide bottle has a piece of its' glass label cover broken off, but I have the piece and will include it as well. There is raised lettering on the bottoms of the jars which reads, Pat Apr 2 1889 W. T. CO. These jars will need to be cleaned. They're dusty, I'm not comfortable doing that. Bottom opening on two brass hinges is s ecure d by brass turn-key locks. Inside( cu pboard"B" are two of the original apo th ecary bottles- with glass stoppers. One has been broken off at the top but is included loose in the box. Bottles are hand-blown glass and each has the letter s"HAG" embossed on the bottom. Also. Each has the letters"S M" on the side. The letters measure ⅝" tall. Each of the two bottle measures 3½" tall not including stopper. One has a paper label on which is printed"ALCOHOL" and th e other is pr inted"ARNICA" The Arnica bottle is nearly full. Each bottle was made with an indent to accommodate the glass label ones it is reverse-painted. All glass labels are affixed to the bottles. CONDITION- Good used condition with a few small flaws. Each large bottle has a small fleabite on top and the small one has 3. Two of the stoppers are broken beneath the top as shown. The damage doesn't show when the lids are on. Antique Vintage Set of Laboratory Bottles and Vials with silver tops in original black leather or reptile case with silver closure. 6" x 4" x 1-3/4" Circa ~ around 1900's. Believe this is a medical set but it could also be an alchemist's or perfumer's kit. Lid flap with lovely ornate silver snap has separated from case. Otherwise case is structurally sound. Lined in red fabric with openings for 2 large and 6 small vials. magnifying glass not included- just case and vials) All but one vial is accounted for. One larger and one smaller vial is missing their silver screw on lids. All have their original vintage red labels although the writing has long worn off allowing you to rewrite your own! 2-Antique Bottles of L. A. Gould"White Clover Cream" Each Bottle measures: 4-1/8" x 2-1/4" x 7/8" thick; 1 with cap is about 4-3/4" tall other dimensions are the same. Only defects I can find on bottle. There is a small chip on rim of empty bottle. See Pictures. Bottle in my opinion are in very good condition for there age. 1-Bottle is empty other has 3/4 0f product intact in bottle. All Writing is still very legible. Nice Antique Collectible Bottles. 3 Antique Medicine bottles, George Rau Apothecary, Hoff's German Liniment
These are three different medicine bottles. I am not sure what year they are. From Left to Right. The first bottle is 5 5/8" tall and has 12 sides. On the bottle it has"Hoff's German Liniment Goodrich& Jennings Anoka, Minn. It has an uneven blown on the bottle as shown in photo#4 giving an impression that there is oil in the bottle. Has air bubbles. Please inspect photo 2- 4. Bottle number 2 is 4 6/8" tall. Imprinted on the bottle is"George Rau Apothecary 101 Second Ave Cor 5th St. N.Y. The cork is inside the bottle. Chip on the lip. It has air bubble. Bottle number 3 is 6 2/8" tall. It has an"A" on the bottle. Long neck bottle and it is slanted to one side. It has 6 sides. Please inspect all the photos for more detail. I do not know much about bottles. I think they are either from the late 1800's ... moreor early 1900's.
