This is a large antique. Handmade mountain dulcimer. I have no idea of its age but it is obviously an older instrument and handmade. I would also consider it an American folk art piece. It measures 40.5"x 6"x 2.5" It is obviously not set up for playing purposes right now. But I'm sure it could easily be if placed in the right person's hands. It would definitely make for a very beautiful and unique instrument.

Abraham Prescott Cello OLD RARE Antique American string orchestral instrument
RARE 19TH Century Abraham Prescott Cello. Has full label inside which has the New Hampshire address. Indicating that this is one of Prescott's later cellos after he had perfected his instrument building technique. i could not get a good photo of the label since the lighting is too dark inside the instrument, but you can see it somewhat in the attached photo. Prescott died in 1855 making this instrument well over 150 years old. Great condition for its age with some signs of use. It certainly has had some restoration in its long history, but is currently set up and playable. at some point someone put a very unorthodox end pin on the instrument. The photos may make it look like it has a partial seam split in back, but that is just lighting and shadow. a small part of the seam may be ever so slightly misaligned, but it is still solid, together ... moreand playable. There is a slight crack on the front under the bridge. just barely starting. not bad and an easy fix. Local pick up is preferred, but I will ship it to any US location in the lower 48 states for $125.00, there is NO international shipping on this auction. I am also including a lightweight case for this cello. The case is thrown in for free to help protect it in shipping. It is a short-necked lute made of wood. With goatskin covering the body. It has three melody strings, three drone strings, and 11 or 12 sympathetic strings. The instrument is made from the stem of the mulberry tree and the strings are made from the intestines of young goats, brought to the size of thread. Spielweise: Die drei Spielsaiten(Nylon)werden auf H e und a gestimmt, was es leicht erlernbar für Gitarristen macht. Die Bünde werden in Halbtonschritten justiert. Antique Victorian Mahogany JTL Maelzel Metronome Musical Instrument
This antique metronome was manufactured by Maelzel and marketed by JTL. This piece stands 9 ¼ inches tall and at the base. Measures 4 ¼ inches square. As opposed to many of these one sees, this is a much older one of these and is in very good cosmetic and great working condition. The wood looks to be mahogany and has a rich warm patina. The mechanism winds and works as intended. And by sliding the weight higher or lower, the beat increases or decreases accordingly. There are a few small age cracks on the case as pictured, and the bottom is missing but no one sees the bottom anyway.

It has 21 strings. All intact and the key and markings that you see. The white portions appear to be made of celluloid, a favorite material before plastic was invented. It is about 17 1/2 inches long. Condition is used but pretty good for one of these. The feet are intact. We see nothing missing except a couple of very small areas of the celluloid. A couple of the small screws for the trim no longer hold and could use replacement with something a little longer.but overall this one is pretty nice albeit with a little wear and a little top scuffing as you see in the photo. And in great shape, with no cracks or any damage at all. It has 6 wood pegs to tighten strings and has its original 6 strings that play perfectly. It does appear to have been signed by maker with a Chinese symbol?see photos) It measures approx. 31 inches long from neck to base; the neck tapers from 1-¾ inches to 1 inch and the pegs are 2 ½ inches long. The base is approx. 11 inches long by 4 inches wide at its widest point and 3 ¼ inches thick. It has a thin sheet of tin over the base that gives this instrument a lovely Asian sounding music. It appears that some pieces are missing and some may not be original to the set. The one curved plier type instrument has the name GEORGE ERMOLD stamped on the inside and the curved nozzle piece has the name EVERS. The one tweezer type instrument has the name R. HUE or possibly R. HOE& Co Patent. It sure appears to be from the Civil War era. The set appears to be very high quality and we left it in all original uncleaned or polished condition. The early leather covered wood storage box measures 9 1/2 inches wide by 5 inches deep by 1 1/2 inches tall" in the closed position" It has certainly seen better days and shows much wear. Interesting design with a white marble base and attached instrument tray. This piece is completely restored. When I found this lamp it was in terrible condition. The last picture is of the lamp as found. I cleaned the base and the tray. Replaced the porcelain socket with an antique equivalent, replaced the arm, rewired the lamp with period style black twisted modern reproduction lamp cord and added the nice edison style filament bulb which will be included. The base. Tray, socket housing and plug are original. The arm. Cord and bulb are all that's new on this unusual piece. Oh. And I added some rubber feet to protect your desk from the marble. This is a Antique Louis Weule Co. Azimuth Nautical Instument. Sextant? I am not an expert I will do my best to describe it. The Azimuth is made of brass most of it is original black paint. The original mirror is there and has fading around the edges but not broken, it has two vials with liquid like levels, it is marked Louis Weule Co. Azimuth S.F. U.S.A. and has Pat. Dec. 6, 1910 on it. The only thing that I can see wrong with it is the string down the middle for eye hole is broken but it is there. The Instrument is 9 1/2" tall X 6 3/4" at it's widest. The hard wood case is original. It has the Instructions for using the Azimuth glued to the inner top of box by the Louis Weule Co. 6 California St. San Francisco Cal. The trumpet appears to be marked"Ц55P" and the baritones are marked"Ц55P" probably their model numbers) Ц is a character in the Cyrillic alphabet used in Slavic languages. Tuba's logo looks like it said"A" before it was worn off. One of the baritones has a severely damaged first bell bow(pictured) Has sticky valves(the 2nd valve of this horn is actually depressed in one of the pictures) and stuck valve slides. The tuning slide is free, and the valves do all move, they just stick. All of the valves and slides on the other instruments move ... morefreely and easily. Although they are in need of a cleaning. The trumpet and tuba have only minor dents and dings, and are largely in good shape. You can see that some of the solder joints on all of the instruments have had some work done to them. Two mouthpieces came with the instruments, and may or may not be original(pictured) There is also a denim bag for one of the baritones(which probably accounts for the slightly different patinas on the baritones) that appears to be original. You can check out a video of these horns being played at the bottom of the description. They actually produce some nice sounds! This would be an intriguing set of instruments for any collector. Especially if you're able to find information on the maker. Any of these instruments by themselves would be an interesting find, but to find three different instrument types all from the same maker, and as old as these instruments are! Adolf Kurze Violin - antique full-size string instrument
Antique Adolf Kurze violin This violin was made by a violin maker by the name of Adolph Kurze. From Cranston, R.I. in 1941. It was the 3rd violin that he made and it was presented to my grandfather(a concert violin player) as a gift in 1965. It's in very good condition. Kurze also gave my grandfather a written account of the violin. Copied below. I will include the original to the buyer. This form is my own pattern. Well-rounded in both top and bottom bouts and center C's. The arching of the top and back is extremely flat on account of the thickness of the wood used. The attached photographs indicate a top of spruce. Fine-grained at the center and immediately becoming wide-grained to the edge. The back is 2-piece dark maple and shows the curls slanting slightly upwards towards the edges: also a series of wide vertical flames slanting ... moreslightly outward from bottom to top. The ribs are of fine-grained light maple. The plate thicknesses vary from 9/64" under the bridge to 6-6-1/2/64" in the top and from l0-l0-1/2/64" to 6/64" in the back. The interior of this instrument has not been sealed. The original varnish was completely removed in 1963 and re-sealed with a solution of raw linseed oil. Lye and camphor, then further sealed by rubbing a slight amount of beeswax on and into the surface. The exterior varnish is Joseph Michelman's(1946) aluminum rosinate sub-varnish(Preparations 2 and 3) 3-coats. And 5 coats of Michelman's red resin(Preparation 41) prepared by heating the resin and sun-thickened raw linseed oil together, thereby causing the resin and oil to combine. This solution was heated to about 190 degrees F for 24 hours. In which time it reduced considerably in volume and reached the consistency of honey. No turpentine or other thinner was used. The varnish was applied by heating same and applying it with one finger. A week under a Sunray lamp was required for sufficient drying before a succeeding coat was applied. Antique Gold Plated Medical Instrument Ebony Handle Bleeder?
This is an antique gold plated medical instrument. It is 6 1/4" long. It has an ebony handle. There are no makers marks. The screw on the top on the handle has the number"206" The screw lock sliders, are marked"1" and"2" The tip cover piece was made with 3 splits. 2 of tips have gone missing, see photo. When the tip cover piece is removed, it exposes a small sharp spear shaped needle. When the numbered screws are loosened, they do not slide, stuck. The only visible damage to the instrument. Is to the tip, which also has missing plating. The balance of the plating is good, there is a small none separated crack in the handle. I do not know for sure what the instrument was used for, but the spear tip is sharp enough to easily pierce the skin, if used for bleeding. An antique medical phonendoscop by BAZZI& BIANCHI PATENTED in 1897. On the item: US patent 576320 jan 19th 1897. PHONENDOSCOP BAZZI&BIANCHI Martin Wallach Nachfolger Cassel Roma. With original instruction in German. Nickel silver finished brass stethoscope complete with the second diaphram made of vulcanite with intercoastal attachement, rubber tubing, vulcanite ear pieces and chest piece in original nickel silver brass case. The attachement was designed to be placed in the intercoastal space so as to facilitate transmission of breath and heart sounds. Stethoscope is in excellent working condition.
