Sterling Silver Tooth Fish with Antique Prosthetic Human Glass Eye - gray green
Beautiful gray- green antique prosthetic human glass eye set in a hand carved. Sterling silver Tooth Fish pendant mounting, made by me, using the lost wax method of casting. This toothy fellow arrives on a 1.5 mm sterling silver seamless snake chain. 18 inches in length. Photos don't do him justice. As it is quite difficult to capture the various colors the glass artist used in this unique antique glass eye. Easy to appreciate when held up to the light. As the back of this pendant is open. Tooth Fish measures 1.65 inches long by 1.48 inches from the bottom of his fin to the top of his bail. And is approximately 1.60 inches thick. Tooth Fish weighs approximately 16 grams. Wearable Art! Its a little bit creepy. here is an old glass prosthetic human eye. And the original case it came in. The eye measures about 1 1/8" x 1" x 1/2" and is in excellent condition. The case shows wear, the outside is thin leather or cloth, the inside is cloth. It looks like a name is written in there, but I cannot make it out. the case measures 1 5/8" square x 3/4" high. I imagine the type of case could kind of identify an estimate on the age, but I would have no idea. Please check out the pictures, and thank you for looking.

This top-quality vintage prosthetic glass eye. From the mid 20th century, was made by one of the most highly regarded ocularists in the New York City area. The glass is shaped like an inverted shell(last photo) enabling the prosthesis to be fitted over a ball of tissue constructed inside the eye socket. Vintage American Optical Prosthetic Eye Non Glass Gray/Hazel Iris Bloodshot
This is a vintage prosthetic eye made by American Optical that I bought at a flea market in the early 80's. This was really hard to photograph and capture the intricate detail that is on this without any glare. The iris is hazel with a gray ring around it. The colors are intense and so realistic. The whites of the eye have highly detailed vascularization which makes them look bloodshot. It is made of lucite or some sort of plastic and is a shell shape. There is a number on the side(5LN35 AO) perhaps to do with the color and shape/style. The eye is in good condition. Sorry. In my photos there was a little putty residue on the eye that I missed cleaning. I used putty to stick these to a skull. the putty is since wiped off. I am also selling another eye from the same dealer in a slightly different shade of hazel. Buy both and no extra shipping.

Superb quality hand-blown piece. The eye limb is made of exceptionally thin double walled hollow glass. In the end of the 19th century eye surgery had advanced so much that it allowed the use of these limbs. Excellent craftsmanship. Even for today technology this is a masterpiece of glass art. The condition is very good especially considering it was made in the 40's. Please see my pictures. The color is Grey-Green and the sclera has vascularization throughout the white around the iris. It is a regular shell shape and not a full round ball. ORIGINAL GLASS EYE. SO FINE I THINK IT IS PROBABLY BLOWN GLASS. Since the dawn of human history the eye has been an omnipresent image characterized by salient and often mysterious symbolism. It would not be until the 16th century that the first prosthetic eyes came into use. I am pleased to present this incredible prosthetic eye. Although it looks a little unusual. The finest artificial blown glass eyes were of French or German manufacture. Physicians or occultists delicately fitted patients from manufacture’s trial samples- first by form and then matched for color. An artificial glass eye of superior craftsmanship was then special ordered to offer the patient lifelike color. Brilliancy of expression, and accuracy of form. Fitted properly over an injured blind, but not fully atrophied eye, the prosthesis eye could move in concert with the good eye. These glass eyes cost over $10.00 in the late 19th century, making them affordable only to more prominent patients.
