All have the letter K on the handle, and one has the#1, 3 have the#2 on handle. The stainless/metal handles simply read: G. Tiemann& Co. Tools measure 5" long. There are 6 empty slots in the case. Case is black leather bound and also lined with a light tan leather and measures 6.5" x 4" Case closes with a metal slide switch. I do my best to photograph and describe my items accurately. Vintage Antique Medical Veterinary Surgical Tools Blades with Case
For your consideration is this rare antique surgical kit with tools and knife blades as shown. The tools do have tarnish. Rust and spots of plating loss and are coming to you as found. I have no good knowledge of the use or what is there or missing. The velvet lined case displays the set nicely especially the blades, really intimidating! There are 10 loose instruments, all metal with one having an ebony wood handle. The item in the next to last photo has a split down the back side of the tube. Overall the case measures 16" x 18" x 4" and is solid and in pretty good shade. The latches on the case work well but do not have keys. I stumbled across these old tools in an antique store in Christian County. MO last week. I believe these are surgical probes and each measures 11-inches long. Each varies in thickness and the flattened end of each bears different markings. Four of the probes are each marked"BETZ" and the other is marked"AM.ST. 20 Stainless. Up for sale here is a lot of antique surgical equipment. I purchased this lot. Along with some other medical items, from the same individual and they date back to the late 1800's into the early 1900's. This lot here is a mixed bunch, with five tools total. Three of the tools have markings of some kind- the spreader tool has a patent date of"Jan 9- 1900. The scissor-handled clamps are marked"44" on the underside of each handle. The other clamps are marked"55" on the underside of each handle. These have a nice patina of age to them- I have not cleaned them. But am offering them in the condition in which they were found. Antique Lot 20 Medical Surgical Instruments Tools In Old Doctor's Bag Forceps
I am offering a Antique Doctor's Bag filled with 20 Medical Surgical Instruments. The bag is a faux paper alligator. With metal frame and handle it has 3 latches to close, and all work. The inside has a cardboard divider. The bag has some damage to two the corners and an old repair. The bag measures 15 x 9 x 9 inches. Inside the bag are the 20 metal medical/surgical tools pictured. I recognize the forceps, and some tools to pull or pry, but many I am not sure of the use or name. Three have marks on the back of the handles, and I have a photo of those. The forceps are 16 inches long, the other tools range from 6 to 13 inches long. I have tried to take clear photos. And described them to the best of my ability, but if you have any questions. Great Antique Victorian Doctors bag in great condition. The bag shows signs of wear especially around the edges. Made of non leather. It is marked ASYLUM Ward A on the front. This is not original to the bag but appears to be. The lettering shows signs of distress from use. The latch is secure and opens easily. There is an antique skeleton key attached that reads"Sargent 6" It is not the key for the lock on the bag. The interior is in great condition with only a small separation at the corner of the pocket. Great Antique Doctors bag. Included are the tools as pictured. These are original to the bag. The leather is superb and perfectly distressed. It is soft and very durable. Marked on the bottom KRUSE. GENIUNE PIG SKIN The handle is perfect. The latch works perfectly but does not have its key to lock it. It is engraved Clifford Anderson M.D. The bag opens and closes easily. The inside needs a good cleaning and the lining has separated in one corner. I am unsure what tolls these are. This is an antique boxed surgical set made by G. Tiemann& Co. circa 1860. The address label on the inside of the lid(a gilt stamped oval of black leather) reads: G. Tiemann& Co. Manufacturers of Surgical Instruments. 63 Chatham ST NY. Tiemann was at this address betwen 1833 to 1864. In 1864. The company moved to 67 Chatham St. The wooden box measures 6 1/2 inches long X 4 inches wide X 1 1/2 inches high. The lower case holds 8 tools with bone handles and two separate attachments. The handle are each stamped"G. Tiemann. The blade of the scalpel is also stamped"G. Tiemann. The upper compartment hold two pairs of tweezers and a scissors. The box in good/ fair condition due to paint splatters on the lid and it is missing the owner's identification plate. The hinges& hook locks are in good working order. Antique 1800's Medical Doctor MD Surgical Urethral Tools Fowler Case Instruments
This neat display of antique surgical instruments are as shown in the pictures and is printed on the front of the leather type case as a SET FOWLER SOUNDS. The leather type display case contains surgical urethral instruments that are antique 1800's medical doctors tools. The case has two working slide locks that have a nickel silver look. Each instrument is marked with a number and they have a wonderful original nickel silver type look finish. I will leave to the new owner if they desire to clean but I have not cleaned. Tried to polish or wipe down leaving original patina. The case shows wear as shown in the pictures as you would expected for a item of this age. Also, I just notice that the back left corner of the case has what looks to me as being a old brush mark of white paint but very small. Here we have two pre-1900 surgical/medical aspiration or drainage devices in excellent condition. Both are maker marked as well. The first device is a unique 2 piece instrument with a threaded tube insert to allow fluids to be pumped in and drained off thru the main body of the tube. The other appears to be some sort of aspirator that would fit into a bottle to catch or distribute fluid but that is only a guess. This is 3 antique civil war medical instruments that were brought back from the war with Benjamin A Mcclelland who served from 1861-64 with Company F.2nd Reg't Iowa Infantry, the side cutters have Snowden Phila stamped, the long spoon type instrument just has a number 3 stamped and the other tool has a couple stamps but both are not legible. LARGE ANTIQUE POCKET SADDLE BAG SURGICAL MEDICAL KIT 1800s !!! 15 tools..
Don't wait too long on this one! The last one I sold went for twice the buy it now price! Here we have one of the largest pocket surgical kits I have seen. I believe it was probably carried in a saddle bag as it is too large to just pack around in a coat pocket. A RARE FIND IN THIS CONDITION AND STILL HAVE MOST ALL THE INSTRUMENTS! The kit itself is labeled Sharp& Smith Chicago IL. In business from 1844 to around 1900. The Scalpels and one of the forceps are also marked S&S. The rest of the instruments are a mix of suppliers. Sklar. Betz and others. All told there are 15 instruments in this case including 4 scalpels and a suturing tool. PLUS! I found down in a crack of the pocket a paper envelope containing what looks to be old suture thread and also has the company label date when the company was established 1844! And there is ... moresome hand written notes on the back. All though this kit does not contain all the original tools it came with, and effort has been made to put the correct replacements into it. It is still a great hard to find item! The only damage to the case is the lower snap has pulled out and is missing. There is very little if any cracking or damage to the rest of the pouch but it is a little dry from age. Don't let this great piece of history get away! Thanks for looking and check my other listing for some great items I have listed! Do to the size of this it the shipping will be a bit more. FYI if you were watching the forceps I had listed. I doing a bit more research on them I found out they are a rare pair of TIEMANN wire suture forceps from 1863. So they went back into my collection. Perhaps you should have bought them last week!
