Interestingly, the original painted decor and gilding was removed and was painted over with the flowers, perhaps the original jar purchaser cancelled their order and the maker painted over the removed design to save the jar for continued use (see pics 16-19 for reference). THEY STAND 11" TO THE TOP OF THE LID HANDLE AND THE JARS LOOK GOOD WITH NO DAMAGE. The precision construction behind these scales are amazing, everything is perfectly aligned and well put together, you never see engineering like this anymore. It is marked"W.M. WELCH SCIENTIFIC CO CHICAGO, U.S.A. This scale is constructed of wood, glass, and metal that appears to be brass. It features glass panes surrounding the balance scale. The front pane opens to reveal the scale and allow the operator to place their weights as needed. This scale comes with 4 weights and a container to hold them although it appears to be missing 6 smaller weights it does have the larger ones which are the harder to come by. It has the 1lb, 8oz, 4oz, and 5g. It measures approximately 18" tall x 17" wide x 9" deep. This beautiful ... morepiece is in excellent condition. The wood appears to be damage free except for a few scuffs, and scratches here and there. All of the glass panes are free of damage. I am unsure as to the exact operation as I honestly have no idea how it works or how precise it is. It tried to test it and it seemed to work fine however I really do not know much about it. It really is a wonderful piece and it is hard to let this one go but it deserves to be with someone who will be able to use it for what it is, a wonderful precision instrument. Antique Museum Specimen Jar Apothecary Hand Blown Glass Harvard
I have for sale a pair of Hand Blown Specimen Jars from the Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology. Each jar is roughly 6-1/4" tall. The glass lip is 2-1/2" wide. Though the inner opening is around an inch. I got these from a neighbor who bought them from the museum directly around 40 years ago. One jar has an index card in it- card is in photograph and reads"These jars. Ranging in age from 50 to 125 years old, were specially hand blown and were used to house part of the collection of the Museum of Comparative Zoology, the"Agassiz Museum" Museum of Comparative Zoology Harvard University. At the top is the Harvard stamp. We live in Concord. MA and my neighbor worked at the Harvard Law School. The museum has changed names again and is now known as the Harvard Peabody Museum. Up for bid are 2 S mall, R ound“ Drip by Drop” Apothecary bottle s The tops are ground to fit like a glove. They have two grooves and a beak for dropping liquid. On the neck of bottle there are two grooves– one for liquid and one for air. When grooves on the stopper meet the grooves on the neck. Liquid can be dropped. IT WORKS AMAZINGLY WELL! If stopper is turned and grooves don't match protrudes bottle is closed(locked) and liquid can not be dropped. The shape and type would allow for a tiny drop to be poured out of the bottle without removing the cap. The clear bottle is 3 ½ inches tall. It is in very nice condition. Because the mouth flairs out, more like an open jar, and there's no lip etc. to indicate it may have had one. I thought it would make a fabulous vase for you, or a perfect open jar to put your balls, shells.you name it, this jar will make them shine! It's an antique blown glass piece, and the color is a lovely bright light green. It's also large, measuring 11 5/8" tall, 7" diameter at the mouth and 6" diameter at the base. Welcome All Ebayers! Up for bids is this antique medical book from 1919. The book was for medical students and is titled Materia Medica and Pharmacy. It is a book discussing how to compound certain medicine and information on use of medicines. Included in the book is the signature of the original owner. Dated 1919. I can't make out the name of the doctor who owned this book. Also included is a page of notes. The book is like a time capsule. It is nearly 100 years old and includes entries about ether, cocaine, morphine. A nice curiosity for those who love medical antiques. I've often wondered what happened to the doctor who owned this book. Item has some definite wear, binding could use repair, pages are yellowed and there are some other minor defects(see pics) Picture#6 shows the page of notes I found in this book. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE EUROPEAN 12 DRAWER APOTHECARY SPICE CABINET PORCELAIN DRAWERS Up for auction is very unusual old spice cabinet. It has 12 drawers that are two different sized drawers and they are made of porcelain with lovely detail and colors on the front. It was imported from Hungary. The cabinet is made from wood that's been painted white and nicely holds the porcelain drawers. The little drawers are white porcelain and have a blue detailing on some and gold detailing on others. The lettering on all of the drawers are black or dark grey. Each drawer has the name of a spice written on it in either Hungarian or German. We're not sure. You can read all of them very clearly. The"Kava" drawer is cracked in the upper right corner and the chipped in the lower left corner. Most of the other drawers are in really good shape. ... moreThe drawers are labeled: zucker sugar kaffee coffee kava cocoa cukor sugar(maybe one of these is brown sugar) zemla(we don't know) nelken cloves brosel breading pfeffer pepper zimt cinammon ingwer ginger kummel cumin paprika paprika The cabinet is meant to hang on the wall and has two holes in the top piece but it also has"feet" so it could also sit nicely on your countertop. The cabinet measures 18.75" H x 5.5" W x 13.75" D and it weighs 15 lbs. The big drawers are 5.75" W x 4.5" H x 4.75" D. The little drawers are 2.75" W x 2" H x 3.5" D. We're not sure what kind of wood it is. It has some chips. Scratches, edge wear and nicks as is expected for an item of this age. It's a very interesting piece! Antique Apothecary Bottle Label Under Glass PULV.CINNAM. c. 1889 This jar measures 12" tall and the dia.at the bottom is 4 1/2" I am sure these are from WT& Co but are not marked the bottle maker was located in Millville. NJ We have alot of these bottle in the range so if you are starting or rounding out a collection please look and we combine shipping. There is a small little flea bite on the underside of the stopper but it does not detract in any way. These bottle were taken out of the original container they were packed for the labels please refer to the photos as I tried to get a close up of each lable. Please refer to the photos for condition as I have no expertise in grading these labels. And matches the type and style of those produced in the mid to late 19th century. Features fine detailing on the sides and bottom(see photo) as well as a pair of handles on each side. The pestle is a long, double-ended design with light decorations along the shaft. A mortar and pestle is a tool used to crush. Antique Apothecary 18 drawer Black Walnut spice cabinet
Measures 25 inches in length by 12 inches wide by 14 inches in hieght. Made from black walnut. 18 Drawer cabinet. It is missing one pull knob. I talked to a cabinet shop and they claim that it would be easy to find a replacement knob. Looking from the front. The back left corner has a chip( View Pic) there is spliting from age and drying. Nothing major, I think it just adds character to the piece. Drawers do work but some stick and from the season changes, with wood I would expect that.

From a storage unit auction comes this early to mid 1800's Apothecary 8 drawer hand dive tailed and hand made spice cabinet. Drawer faces are of matching wood grain most likely an oak or similar hard wood. This piece is near mint there is a tiny bit of chipping on op of bezel on the right side. There is minute chipping on bottom right side skirting. 6- of the handles look to have been replaced down the road but 2- handles still seem of period. Pharmaceutical or drug manufactures or in a scientific laboratory settin g. It was made by Pelouze Mfg. Co. in Chicago ILL USA. And is marked on the scale weight holder plate. The entire scale is a green metal. Base measures 6.5 X 3.5 inches. Al weights are intact. I think there is supposed to be weight pan s on each arm. But if so, I do not have them. Rare set of antique iron and enamel pots(the family called them bean pots) These came to the U.S. in 1917 with my husband’s grandparents from Leeds. England. But the markings indicate that they were made in Germany or Holland. Marked Paulinen Huette in embossed letters on 2 of these– the fat one and the thin one(the other is unmarked, though made to the same thickness. The fat one also has No.2 and 1 8L; the thin one has No. 1 and 1o5L. The iron is pocked with light rust(probably can be cleaned off) some deterioration inside through the enamel interiors(not much, though) The larger fat one measures 5” high x 5.5” across and weights 2lb 12 oz. The thin one with one handle measures 5.25” high x 4.5” across. The medium one(with no markings) measures 4.25” high x 4.75” across. I wonder if these were used in an apothecary shop in the 19th century, ... morerather than in a kitchen.
