Selling off some of my caving gear. This rig was used for three low stress trips in Germany in 1996/7 and has been in storage ever since. The Petzl Ecrin Roc helmet has VERY light scratches to the out side and the interior is very nice with the original headband and suspension and chin strap webbing intact and very clean. This auction is for a Lucas KORA(King Of The Road Acetylene) bicycle carbide headlamp no. 262. Manufactured in Birmingham England circ. 1912. An early rare model. The KORA. The most expensive model in the lucas catalogue, is of brass construction layered with copper and with a nikel plating finish, which is pitted. The lamp and all it's parts are undamaged. Complete and in original condition, except perishable parts. Rubber seals and horse hair filter have been replaced using modern materials, to restore the lamp to full working order. This is a really nice example of a Universal Lamp C. Guy's Dropper" carbide miner's lamp. The 2 1/2 inch nickle plated reflector has apparent staining from carbon but the brass is dent free. The carbide can has eight sides instead of the common vertical rib style can.

Please note I am unsure if it is complete as my knowledge of such things is very limited- I am unsure too it's age. Item condition- This item is in sound condition with some wear and tear in keeping with it's age and being used. The chrome? type finish is worn in places down to the under brass, I see no chips/cracks to the glass, it does have the odd ding/scuff, I do notice a hole in the tank which I assume was supposed to have something fitted into it, no doubt you experts out there will know. UNION CARBIDE- 10 lb. MINER'S LAMP CARBIDE TIN This canister or tin is from the UNION CARBIDE Company. And was sold with TEN POUNDS of Calcium Carbide. Intended for Miner's Lamps. There are many 2 Pound cans out there but I have seen very few of the 10 Pound size. Don't let this one slip by! This item came from the Calico Mining Region of California, near the Mojave Desert, and has been in my collection for many years. It does have some wear and tear as indicated in the photos, but these are from use in the mines, and it still displays very nicely. I hope that it finds a great home in your collection.

Lovely old Powell and Hanmer carbide lamp in good strong condition but needing some tlc. This lovely old lamp is rare and unique and is in strong condition but would need some tlc the glass is cracked(see picture) but still feels nice and strong. The nickel has worn and the buckle has some v minor surface rusting, although the door opens and closes perfectly the catch to hold it shut has broken and it is also missing the screw cap at the top(see picture 5) Given a little tlc this could once again be put back to use or alternatively this would benefit from a good clean up and could then become a display item although I have just been displaying it the way it is. This is a very rare model and would make a nice additin to any collection. A must for the discerning customer!

This is a shelf queen because there is an unrepaired hole in the corner of the bottom. A similar hole was solderd over by the miner. This is a style of bottom that you do not see often. This vintage carbide miners lamp dates from the early 1900s. All brass construction. Top marked"The Springfield Lamp-Pat'd. 12- Can't make out the rest of patent date and the line underneath it! Bottom of base marked"Manuf'd. By Shanklin Mfg. Co. Springfield. Ill. U.S.A. I did not try to clean up lamp, it is the way I bought it. Lamp is in as found used condition. There is one larger"ding" and 2 smaller ones on the top surface The reflector is crumpled and distorted. The rear attachment clip shows a lot of solder around where it is attached to body. The lower section has a"ding" on the sidewall and some dings around bottom edges. Lamp has darkened from years of"crud" and use. No holes or cracks that I can see.
