Here is a great Apothecary Scale for your buying consideration. Recently acquired it at an estate sale. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself. The scale was made by a company named Christian Becker in Jersey City. New Jersey. The instructions in the box referred to it as a No. 3 model. The Becker metal plate has a serial number of"B 33559" on it. There is also a plate on the front left of the scale that has the number"11474" on it. Not quite sure what year this scale was made. The glass on all 4 sides and the top is intact. No cracking or blistering. Wow. This is a beautiful wood case on this scale. Most of the finish is there and I see no cracking or missing pieces to the case. The one issue that I do see to report to you is the black polished slate piece where the top attaches to the base. It is cracked clear through and runs from the right side to 11.25" across the slate to the front. The scale has 3 legs, the front two are brass and can be adjusted to balance the scale. The rear leg is made of wood. The front door appears to still be on the pulleys and strings as stays in place when lifted and let go. The back door does not stay up when lifted. You have to hold in place. Not sure if made that way or the strings/pulleys need adjustment on it. Cannot say if the scale is all there or not. What you see in the pics and described here is what you get. The level bubble at the base of the scale mechanism still has its' fluid and bubble in it. The lock mechanism for the scale is still operable. Nice drawer to store all the weights and other pieces in it. Slide piece that operates from the side is hooked up and works as well. There are 11 brass weights that came in a plastic case as well. Some of the weights have OHaus on them as well. Not all. The scale is 19.75" tall. By 18" across, by 9-5/8" wide

Old marble,brass&wood apothecary scale with weights...calibrated!
Here is a vintage marble top apothecary scale(18 in X8h X7w) with a complete set of weights. It has brass trays on a wood case with beading(a couple of inches of beading missing. See pic) The trays polished up nicely. The finish is as is on the wood. Scales like this date somewhere between the late 1800's and early 1900's. It has been balanced by gluing a thin circle of aluminum under one tray, so that the scale zeros out nicely when that tray is placed on the metal holder marked"L" I found no makers mark anywhere on this piece, though I did not take it apart to look inside the mechanism. Besides being decorative and interesting, this scale can be used! There are 8 gram weights, from 50g down to 1g. There is a set of five"DR" weights, a different measure called a"drachm" There are 7 tiny aluminum chip ... moreshaped weights, from 500 mg down to 10mg. Very Nice Mid- 1800's Apothecary Scale- With Droop Wing Eagle on Front of Case
This unique apothecary scale. Which I believe dates to the middle of the nineteenth century, came out of an old Virginia estate. It bears a distinctive droop wing eagle on the front of the dark blue felt- lined case. The scale itself is in pretty nice condition, though the brass surfaces do bear some oxidation. Unfortunately, the weights are no longer with the set. This piece would make a very unique addition to any collection of nineteenth century medical equipment.

Beautiful antique apothecary's scale. Made from brass with delicate cow's horn cups by Henry Troemner of Philadelphia. The Henry Troemner Company manufactured precision scales and instruments from 1844 to the mid 1900s. This striking piece is in very good condition. And is still almost exactly balanced after all these years. The marble base is a replacement, but makes this a fantastic display piece. This is antique scale of the type often seen during the late 1880 to about 1920 in apothecary. Pharmacy and small stores. This is marked with a trademark showing a balance bean scale arm and the words"PRAE" then a star and"CISION" which we have tried to find out more about but could not. The scale also is marked 10Kg the beam arm. We couldn't find any other marks. It includes a set of W. T. Avery weights as marked; 1 lb AVERY Ltd- inner stamp on lead looks like crown. G, and 9 can't make out the R, A21, 24, 25,27,not sure if this is 23 or 28)31,33,34 8 oz AVERY Ltd- inner stamp on lead crown. GR,9- several marks on bottom J21, 24,25,26,27,31,33,34 4 oz W& T. AVERY Ld- inner stamp on lead looks like 27.7. Crown, GR, not sure of what is below that, no stamps on bottom. 2 oz W& T. AVERY Ld- inner crown stamp. ... moreLooks like GR, stamped on metal bottom, C26 1 oz W& T. AVERY Ld- inner stamp- hard to make out. Looks like crown, GR, but possibly ER, 31, marks on base 19-3, 1953, 1954 1/2 oz AVERY-inner stamp. None bottom; crown,GR, 37 O, then D/1 one bell type weight marked 1 lb AVERY. Looks like Crown, ER, possibly 64. the height of the mast from the bottom of the base(from the table to the top) is approximately 28" Beam across approx 18" the pans measure approximately 10" The wood base is old and appears to be original. We could find no marking other than already stated as to the maker. Apears to be European. This was found in NH. We have left as found as some collectors prefer the original patina. I have taken alot of picture to show all the parts, it looks to be complete, but can not tell as I can't find any information as to the maker. This set of brass scale weights came from an auction in Vermont. The seal on the back reads- Department of_ measures. Sealed, inspector, not detach or deface under penalty. Seal of the state of New Hampshire 1776. The seal is not complete, this is all I could make out. The smallest weight is missing. The weights are engraved on the top as follows- kilo(this one is also marked Z-1 HV? City I believe) 1 lb avd, 8 oz avd, 2 oz avd, 1 oz avd, 1/2, 1/4. There are use marks and some tarnishing. The wooden holder measures 8 1/8" long by 4" wide, and just under 2 1/2" high. The wooden holder has quite a few use marks, see the 9th picture.

Antique Analytical Apothecary Gold Balance Scale Glass Case Weights & Extras
Not sure of the year on this scale. Manufactured by Arthur S. LaPine& company from Chicago. But I believe it to be complete. Everything seems to work as it should. Was told it is an apothecary scale that can also be used for gold. The balance operates and needs to be calibrated. It's in good condition for a piece that's almost 100 years of age. The balance case is in great shape and the windows are not broken or cracked. The entire balance is pretty sound. All the parts are original to the balance including the surrounding cabinet glass and the black plate glass base. The front glass panel raises to open the case. Nothing has been repaired or has switched out parts from another balance. Has a side crank. Plate inside says Seederer-Kohlbusch. Nc. Englewood, NJ. And service records.John P. Also included ... moreare 3 boxes of extras.In the first box is the original chain which is not connected to the scales at this time. 4 odd weights which include one larger one and 3 smaller onees. The third box is a spectacular shiny chrome plated set of weights in 8 different sizes. Also in the box is some more small weights and the original brass tweezers. The case dimensions are 15"W X 16"H(19" from top to bottom including the legs) X 8 1/2"D. Weight is about 35 pounds packed up. A bull's-eye type bubble level and adjustable feet insure proper set-up. NJ that dates to the late 50's but I'm positive the scale is much older. Probably late 1800's although I am not an expert and had a limited amount of time to research this item. It works fine. There is a little rod on the side to adjust the internal gram scale and the knob on the front locks the scales from moving during transport. Both levelers are intact and located on either side of the bottom. Inside the lid both removable pans are present, the glass is black and not cracked or chipped, ... morethe level functions and is not cracked and there seems to be no missing parts. This is a Vintage Marble Top Apothecary Balance Scale w/ Brass Trays. I believe it is a Henry Troemner because i have seen a couple of identical ones with the markings on the trays but I can not find any markings.It is in generally good condition but but I cannot tell you if it is accurate or not and it probably needs to be calibrated if it is to be used.The scale is 18" long-7 1/2 deep and 5 1/2 inches high to the marble top. Hand in-laid wood, marble-topped, dual brass pan apothecary balance(sometimes incorrectly called a“scale” It was made in France by the"Factories of the Mulatière- Lyon– House of Beranger"Google translation) probably in the mid-to-late nineteenth century(1800s) It is a very attractive example of a heavy. Solid, very well-made balance for use, or as an impressive part of any collection(see pictures) Balance is in excellent working condition considering its age! The stout knife edges and swing-arm internal mechanisms allow smooth operation of right and left pans. Both pans appear to be original to this unit! How often does that happen? We believe that because they both have the same stamped maker’s marks motif’ crown and 5-pointed star) as mentioned for the top center of the brass bezel discussed above. ... moreThey have a nice patina and do not have splits or cracks at the edges as many this age do. The balance dual“arrow” indicators are easy to read and work smoothly. The brass bezel surrounding the arrow indicators is embossed with“USINES DE LA MULATIERE” across the top arc; PORTEE” and“5 KIL” middle left and right) and“ A NE MAISONE BERANGER” across the bottom arc. A“LYON” medallion with a crown and a 5-pointed star is centered at the top. Corrosion is not that bad for a piece that could be 150 years old or more. The glass appears to be original and is clear with one vertical scratch. Which is not readily apparent unless viewed up close. The marble is soft white with natural color variations. It is not cracked and has a few small stains that are not readily visible when the pans are in place. It has 2 keyed holes in the bottom so that it fits securely on the base(it only fits one way– if the support stems rub. This balance scale came from an auction in Vermont. It needs to be restrung. The bowls may not have been originally with this balance beam. The balance is made of metal. It measures 9 1/2" long. There is some rust, please see all pictures. The bowls are made of brass. They measure 5" in diameter. There are quite a few marks on the bowls. Each bowl has a small hole, please see pictures eight and ten. The first bowl has a pin hole right in the center. It appears that someone has soldered the rim of one, please see the eleventh picture. I am unsure why. The bowl appears to be intact.

Vintage Wooden Voland& Van Zelm Precsision Balance Beam Scale. I believe this would date to the early 1900's& possibily earlier. In outstanding condition and you will search long& hard to find a better example. The patina on this piece couldn't be better and I have only cleaned the dust from it. I think everything works but to be honest I don't have any knowledge of these types of precision instruments! All the metal scale parts are of brass construction. I'm not sure what type of wood it is built from. If I had to take a guess I would say mahogany judging from the color. I have done quite a bit of research on these types of scales& have not found another that had the beam& other parts made of all brass. Most have some brass and some stainless steel parts in them. I think it is an earlier example than most ... moreof the ones I found. As the pictures show it comes with two sets of weights in fitted wooden boxes. LARGE WOOD BRASS AND MARBLE TOP APOTHECARY SCALE with several weights
UP for auction is a large apothecary scale. The trays are brass. Top is marble. Nice solid wood box with numerous weights- see pics. I dont believe the scale is calibrated. But can probably be fixed. This vintage scale is 18" in length, 6" high, and 7" wide approximately. There is only one weight missing as far as i can see, but there are weight chips and a tong included as well. I did not clean or polish it, though it would clean up quite nicely. The small weight box with lid has some scratches- see pics. I will ship insured and well packaged. Vintage Apothecary Counter Balance Wood Box Scale Marble Top w/ Brass Trays
VERY COOL old Apothecary Scale Please look at the photos CAREFULLY and read below Unsure of the exact make of this piece. It is heavy.made of wood and has a marble top. It needs a cleaning.but seems to be in very good shape for the age. Inside looks good.the scale seems to work(i have no weights for it) Photo 3 shows the inside of the scale. Its a nice green. There are some wee little numbers or letters and i can not really make them out. if you look at the photo you can see the bars closest to the edge there is some silver showing.thats where the marks are. they are on both sides and tiny tiny. Photo 4 is the underneath of the marble. Has some writing or numbers on it Photo 5 is the bottom of the wooden box. Looks like it had something on it at one point. Photo 6 is the prongs that hold the plates. One of the prongs is broken at the base. ... morePhotos 7 + 8 Are the faces of the weight windows. still have glass. The frame around it has a few dings. says PORTER on the top with a 2 in the center and on the bottom says KILOG Photo 9 shows the markings on the inside of the brass plates. Someone has cleaned the center(i am not going to continue the cleaning they need it) it reads(I THINK! Catenat Beranger& Co. Brevetes S G D G( LYON" Photo 10 shows the base of the plates. 19c ANTIQUE APOTHECARY PHARMACY BALANCE SCALE w WEIGHTS
We are pleased to offer from private collection a rare original 19c. antique SWISS luxury apothecary pharmacy set. Included: balance, weights, tweezers, cut crystal glass and wooden case. The balance is made of brass with iron parts. Celluloid cups, signed and hallmarked on the shoulders, size 41 mm(1 5/8" diameter cups and 113 mm(4 4/8" total length shoulders. The tweezers are made of brass with ivory ends, size 95 mm(3 6/8" length. they comes with its beautiful original old patina. The wooden case is signed" G.CRAMER, ZURICH" size: 120 x 85 mm(4 6/8" x 3 3/8" length. The weights are 50, 20, 10, 10, 5, 2, 1, 1, 0.5, 0.2, 0.1, 0.1, 0.05 grams, including one brass weight which probably has been changed. antique rare Norwich solid brass Apothecary balance Scale Weight Set wood Box
this is an exquisite antique rare Norwich apothecary scale brass weight boxed set. the set comes in a nice wooden box with brass hardware and a nice patina from age. it's marked Norwich on the face. inside the box has a removable tray that holds all the weights. it contains its complete 12 solid brass weights. And has its original brass tweezer. on the right there are two other pieces in slots and three slits in the box.
