Antique 1880's Flexible 64" Victorian Hearing Aid Ear Trumpet Hard to Find!
Here is a great old Victorian ear trumpet that was recently sold from a local Nebraska pioneer Museum collection. It measures a lengthy 64" long and is construction of a very flexible rubber tube with mohair braiding on top of it. There is a gutta percha(an early predecessor to plastic) mouthpiece which is in good condition and trumpet which. As you can see. Has damage. 1860 London Dome Ear Trumpet This is called a“London Dome Ear Trumpet” or hearing aid circa middle 1800s to early 1900s. Instrument measures 3.5” high and bell is 2” across. Sometimes called the Petite size. No maker’s mark, but this is in the style by original inventor F. C. Rein was a premier maker of Ear Trumpets in the middle 1800s. Antique Ear Trumpet This is a very old and rare ear trumpet! I purchased it at an auction and did some research online- it appears to be from the 1860s. Civil War Era. It's made of tin and soldered together. It measures about 14.5" long and has some rust, bends and dents, but otherwise is in pretty good condition for its age. The flared horn end is about 4.5" in diameter. There isn't much more I know about it. Please look at the pictures and bid accordingly. There is no maker's mark of any kind. Hello and thanks for your time here. I wasn't sure if there would be a market for this auction but I noticed that there are ebay sellers trying to auction off their Trumpet In-ear headphones(aka earphones) without the box and accessories. So I thought I would give it a try and if they go for only.99 + mailing then I was successful. OK, I have this packaging and accessories because I had bought the earphones at Best Buy some months ago. About 2 months ago I had problems with them(I'll detail this later in this listing) I had contacted Monster and they told me that my earphones are guaranteed forever, in that once they have determined that the earphones were authentic(Monster has been having serious problems with fake earphones) they would then send me a brand new pair complete with all packaging and accessories. Consequently, I got ... morea new set of earphones and now I have this packaging and accessories to auction off. Anyway, you will get the slip cover which still has the cellophane on it, the velvet box, all the original ear pads, the Miles Davis CD, the two small blue carrying cases, and all the paperwork(no receipt) Just a side note, these earphones are definitely the best I have ever heard. I have around 5 or 6 pairs from different venders and these earphones leave them all in the dust, they are fantastic. But, they are sensitive in that you can only really use them in certain environments. I say this because I was using them while doing yard work and I was constantly putting them in and taking them out. After 4 weeks, or thereabouts, I wasn't getting any sound out of the left side of the earphones. So, these earphones are realistically to be used while sitting around the house, or on an airplane, train, or automobile, but to do activities that call for you to mess with them a lot, use a different pair. Metal pieces are brass with silver plating. Note ear extension that shows plating loss to reveal brass. Ear piece revolves and extends for personal comfort. Bell is ornate pattern. We date this late 1800s to early 1900s. It stands 4.25” high and 2.0” x 1.5” across. Overall condition is in very good operational and display condition.

1800s Tiny Silver Ear Trumpet in Case This is a Silver Ear Trumpet Drum/ Plug in original leather case that date late 1800s to early 1900s. It is marked LEFT and Weimer Co with logo. This was for the left ear. Note baffle of 3 slit line openings to capture sound. Instrument appears to be made of pure silver. Similar are shown and described in the book“Antique Hearing Devices” by Bennion. This was a major advancement in deafness utilizing handmade miniature Ear Trumpets that would fit inside the ear. These were advertised to be near invisible. Comfortable and efficient. This was designed to amplify sound and was a revolutionary new direction when compared to the bulky Conversation Tubes and other Ear Trumpets of the period. Case size is 2” x 1.75” x.1” Ear Drum is 1” x.1” length.

CIVIL WAR PERIOD EAR TRUMPET...AS PICTURED IN LORD'S
As you might expect there was a good portion of men with some hearing loss. Especially with artillerymen and riflemen. Soldiers suffering from hearing loss were known to have used crude hearing aids and ear trumpets. This particular ear trumpet is one of the smallest issued. It is a german silver over brass cylindrical horn 2" across the top tapering to 1-1/2" across the bottom. It has a 3-1/4" listening tube. There is an identical example pictured on page 76 of the Civil War Collector's Encyclopedia. Volume 1 by Dr. Francis Lord. I have scanned that page and included it here for your convenience. As you can see there is some condition issues with the hard rubber earpiece is missing. This artifact is rare in any condition and would make an excellent addition to your Civil War medical. SUPERB ANTIQUE EAR TRUMPET 1860 medical instrument doctor surgeon This is a great ANTIQUE EAR TRUMPET In my estimation it dates from the late 19th Century. Circa 1880-1900, but please make up your own mind about this. The instrument measures approx 12 1/2 inches(320mm) long when extended. And is made from a celluoid type material, stained to resemble tortoishell. It is in good condition with very light wear consistent with its great age. But no cracks chips or repairs. 1880 Ear Trumpet for Opera in Faux T-Shell This is a beautiful faux Tortoiseshell Ear Trumpet that dates to 1880. It is pictured and described in“Antique Hearing Instruments” by Bennion book. This has ornate designs in T-Shell. Bennion’s book calls this the“chrysanthemum Form” designed by F.C. Rein. There are NO markings on it. It is has light chipping and may be missing ear piece. But it is similar to Bennion’s photo. Instrument is in good operation and displays well. Large Copper Colored Ear Trumpet Over 16 Inches Long
This is a nice old unusual ear trumpet from the nineteenth century. I have quite a few I will be selling on Ebay. The sound-collector surface is nearly 5 inches across. And funnels the sound down into a 90 degree curved section. From here. The sound travels down a 14 inch long straight shaft that consists of two pieces that fit neatly together. It then curves again 90 degrees to a small formed ear tip. The trumpet section appears to have been made with a striped"japanned" style finish to resemble tiger oak. Antique Brass Ear Trumpet Horn Hearing Aid Steampunk
This is a nice Antique Brass Ear Trumpet Horn Hearing Aid. It does have a few small dents and some areas with corrosion. The pictures show the patina well. It measures 4 inches tall and the bottom of the bell is 2 1/4 inches in diameter. The small black ear piece is in nice condition. I can not find any markings or signatures. Satisfaction guaranteed. My research indicated that this is referred to as a"Miss Green Style" ear horn. Length is almost 12 3/4" Width is about 4 1/2" The rubber ear tip is missing. Handling time is stated at 2 days. A Victorian Faux Tortoise Shell Hard Of Hearing Ear Trumpet c1880
This Unusual Victorian Hard of Hearing Ear Trumpet I think dates to around 1880 possibly older. The trumpet is made of faux tortoise shell and has nice colour and patina with age as seen, the ear trumpet has a metal mount at the bottom but the cover on the bottom that sits in the ear is missing but could be replaced, there is a hole at the top of the trumpet for attaching to a chain around a persons neck, the trumpet measures 10 inches long and in good condition apart from a small thin crack at the top of the horn as seen in the photos

Charles Goodyear patented vulcanized rubber in 1844. And it is a very interesting hard material used in, among other things, the manufacturing of hearing trumpets and ear tips. This material used to be referred to as'vulcanite. This ear trumpet is about 11 1/4" fully extended, and collapses down to about 6 1/2" for easy transport. The extension.
