Antique Pince Nez Spectacles with a retractable chain brooch in their original case. The nose pads are tortoise shell and I can not find any markings on the eye glasses but the chain brooch is marked“Ketcham& McDougall. East Orange NJ, Ketchall” The width of the glasses is 4" while the diameter of each glass lens is 1.5" There is also an eye doctors label inside the case from Oshkosh Wisconsin. Everything is in excellent condition with no scratches on the lenses. The chain pulls out and retracts smoothly and the case is sound and undamaged. $3.87 shipping. Gold filled chain& ear clip, fully working spring nose clips and fitted with one strong, one weak lens. They're in their original fitted box. Dating from around 1900 and in excellent, lightly worn, fully wearable condition with loss to the case's covering, they weigh 52 grams boxed and measure 4 inches across the lenses. Jan. 30. 17. 1917) AO 1/10 12 KGF SPRING" AO ="American Optical" The lenses fold together and snap tight. A spring loaded catch is released by a button to uncouple the lenses. It operates good as new. The delicate chain has a neck loop and is marked"STERLING" on the fastener. The pence nez is in very good condition for the age. Nothing has been cleaned. I think the pence nez is sized for a woman, way too small for my manly beezer. The optics are probably useful for somebodies vision. Or they can be replaced. I wish I could weigh the 10K gold by itself. The total item weight is 23.1 grams. I estimate about 6 grams of 10K gold.

The magnification power is very slight. According to the personalized case. They belonged to Mrs Edwin Gilbert. A great-grandmother on my in-laws' side. They were bought at a store in Rochester. NY. Research indicates fairly well that the store at the location given on the case opened in 1917. Family lore says it was bought by 1930 at the latest. I tested the chain for silver content. I’m not 100% confident with the results but I believe the chain is nickel-silver. Not silver. These reading glasses are in very good condition. Antique 14Ct GP Diopter Pince Nez
You are bidding on a classic pince nez made in the 1900s. Europe. The pince nez have a very elegant design with oval glasses and decorated frame fully bathed in 14Ct Gold. The Gold plating is quite thick, around 30 microns. The nose holders are inlayed with cork. The glasses are medical with slightly enlarging diopter. There is some wearing and a few flake dents at the edges of the glasses. The cork is worn out. The pince nez is in overall very well preserved condition. Glass oval length: 36 mm. These antique pince nez eyeglasses are very delicate. They are marked on the nose piece, but I cannot read it, it says something Gold, but can't make out the rest. There is a delicate little chain and it is tangled around the glasses, needs to be unknotted, but its in good condition, just tangled. Also attached to the chain is a hair pin, used to attach the eyeglasses to ones hair, therefore securing them. The hairpin has a rather tiny but ornate decoration across the top, very Art Nouveau. They are 3 3/4 inches wide when opened and have no discernible prescription. They fold easily and lock into place by way of a small hook and pin on either lens frame. They have comfortable nose pads and a strong spring steel bridge which allows them to be worn and stay on. The frames may be Bakelite or phenolic. Signed Pair 18th Century Pince Nez / Spectacles in Hand Whittled Case - German
I took a lot of photos and finally got a decent one of the rim lettering. Both sides are lettered the same way. One more precisely than the other, more that half way around the perimeter. I can find references to this Jonas Schwartz mark in German( that I don't read) so other examples must exist. This spelling of Wonhafft is an archaic one as it is spelled with only one"f" now. These specs are made of brass and are wound with brass wire at the nose rest which is now fairly blue with oxidation. Lenses measure 1 5/8" across or 41mm. Small chip to one. Wood case of the same period hand whittled with wire fittings and perfectly intact. Case appears to be white pine which in my furniture background usually indicates North American and not likely German. These will ship by Priority mail in USA. To your attention is a very interesting antique pince nez. Made in the 1900 or earlier. The frame is Gold plated and has a peculiar design. The nose cushions are held on hinges and can be adjusted easily. The nose arch is fitted with a spring mechanism that can extend the width of the frame to fit even the widest human nose. This kind of pince nez design is the first one that I see and I've seen many. The glasses are diopter with slightly enlarging effect. There are some tiny scratches on the glasses. There are no cracks, nor dents. There is wearing on the Gold plate and patina. The frame is wavy at places. Antique Rimless Pince-Nez Eyeglasses Art Deco Case Ring on Chain
This is a pair of pince-nez rimless eyeglasses that I bought many years ago because I Ioved the case. It is actually shades of black in an art deco design. The spring works well and the silver decoration to protect the case where it's opened and closed is still recognizable but showing some signs of wear. The case is 5 1/4" x 2 1/4" with some vintage wear. The inside is a dark blue as shown in# 10& 11. I am not a collector or dealer so will try to describe what I see and if you have any question will try to answer them. Picture# 9 had some markings on the nosepiece but I could not read it. I don't know if they're gold or not but judging by the case they were certainly quality when they were bought. These are a really cool set of antique Pince Nez Glasses from the early 1900's. What's even cooler is that they still have part of the old stamp of the location it was from in the back. It was from a major Cowboy Town. Tuscon Arizona! When I look at them I can just picture an old banker, store keeper, or doctor wearing these things. Who knows, they could have belonged to someone famous. There are two pair in the case. One has a missing nose piece. Both have chips on the outer rip of the glass. The outside of the case is peeling but still attached in the back. I don't know the metal, there are no labels anywhere. The spectacle part measures about 1.5" in diameter. Prints are created by our contract laboratory with printers that expose light sensitive paper that is then run through a chemical process. These are real photographs. Not inkjet prints. The source of this photograph is an original glass plate negative or original celluloid negative. The negative was scanned on our Microtek ScanMaker 9600XL scanner at 600dpi. Tidied up with PhotoShop software to remove blemishes, hickeys, dust motes and emulsion flaws. Glass dry plate negatives were most popular from the 1880s through the 1920s. By the 1920s. Many professional photographers had adopted the Kodak ... moreor other celluloid film as their medium of choice. In many cases, it is quite possible this negative was printed once when originally made, then stored away until now. And, because of the decades or more since that first print was made, this print is perhaps the only version of the original available today. This negative was one of several thousand purchased in central Connecticut at the dispersal auction of a life-long collector and from other local sources. And could have been from anywhere.
