From an Estate with lots of old Textiles Here we have a Ribbon applique with center applique area measuring appr 4" x 4" the three pink centers flowers look to be organdy. Darker pink in the middle to a lighter pink on the outside the leaves are velvet on the front with a type of fabric backing. Curled just a wee bit on the ends it has two very long cords on it. That have been covered with a silky golden fabric, one measuring 24" the other 19" long, one having a velvet leaf the other an organdy flat bud and small leaf you can see in the last photo from the back. It looks to have been glued onto something at one time as well as the leaf and bud on the end of the cords We found this one with some other older textiles but have no idea of age. Beautiful Large Antique French Silk Pillow Cover With Ribbonwork & Metal Thread
Lovely antique ribbonwork pillow cover from the early 1900s. The background is an ivory and ecru silk with hand embroidered leaves. 4 large hand stitched ribbon rosettes with many smaller silk flowers in between. Along the edge it is trimmed in dainty. Handmade 3" wide embroidered tulle net lace. The center block is edged in metallic trim. One particular type of ribbon did not hold up well in some of the flowers and appears disheveled(pic# 5) These could be replaced if so desired In overall nice condition. There are a few imperfections such as a tiny hole or a small mark in the fabric but these are easily forgiven due to its age and loveliness. The back is made from a lightweight ecru cotton. This will look wonderful on a pillow or put in a frame under glass for wall art! Measures about 23" square. 1900's ANTIQUE Silk RIBBONWORK Embroidery Pink Green Ribbon Floral Doilies Doily
Here we have a gorgeous set of 5 early 1900s Antique Ribbon work doilies. Gorgeous handmade Ribbonwork of light and dark pink flowers with pale greens spray/ leaves on cream silk. Each doily features a different design with all of the embroidery work being done in narrow silk ribbons. Each doily measures appr 8" square and is trimmed in fine silk fringe. And backed in silk. For their age they are in wonderful condition, with no holes or tears. There are a few light brown spots along with a couple of water spots on a couple of them, none which distracts from their beauty, but wanted to mention for accuracy, see photos. We have not tried to clean them. Their is no deterioration to the ribbonwork and the silk is soft with no fraying or splitting on all the fronts. The silk backings have some spotting, splitting and fraying to the silk, ... moremore so on a couple of them than the others. These pieces would be lovely incorporated into perhaps a lampshade or framed with other Period pieces! Photos were taken with a flash for detail. They will be Shipped Priority Mail. The embroidery needlework has a lovely basket design at each end of the runner. The table runner is further embellished with ribbon work flower petals in a 3D effect and french knots in the flower centers. The table runner is nicely finished off with a metallic trim around the outer edges. Table Runner Measurements: 47" x 16" The black side of the table runner I believe is a polished cotton and the reverse side of the table runner feels like a thin silk. The ribbon work flowers are done in the same material. The embroidery floss has a shine to it and may be silk or rayon. Table Runner condition: The table runner is in very good pre-owned condition ... morewith a few small imperfections. I saw no obvious stains just 2 tiny marks(see photo) The tablecloth is in"as found" condition. The table runner ribbon work rose petal flowers have folded over with this item being folded and would benefit from being dry cleaned. I will leave the cleaning to be completed by the buyer. Approximately. 5 inches of the trim has come loose from the edge and just needs to be resewn. Here are a great old pair of Mesquakie men's ribbonwork leggings. Like all of the other ribbonwork pieces I have listed. These are from the Weir collection. They had a trading post in Tama, Iowa for many years. These are very well made. The ribbonwork is some of the best I have seen. The colors are blue, purple, yellow, pink, green, and red. This is a great old Mesquakie ribbonwork skirt. This is from the Weir family. They had a trading post in Tama. Iowa for many years. The body of the skirt is black wool.
