This is an ecru-colored Victorian twin bed cover or coverlet that is made of hand-crocheted lace. Offered for auction. Is this gorgeous cutwork lace tablecloth topper. Made of ecru colored linen with gray edging. Measures 30" x 32" Condition is excellent, with just one very tiny(see pictures) spot that likely occurred during storage. You may often find cutwork cloths, but very rarely do you find one of this quality. The design is just lovely and would look good in any decor. This beautiful antique tablecloth is packed with intricate detailed embroidered motifs on fine cotton linen. It is striking in its three dimensional details in person and draped over dark wood. It is the best example of this type of cutwork I have found. It belonged to the mother of a man whom passed away about 20 years ago. I believe it dates around 1880 but please look at the photo's and make your own call as to age. It's hand woven and hand tied. I have not washed it. It has spots and holes which is why I called it a cutter in the title. See photo's. If you want to spend the time you could possible repair it with a needle and thread. It's cream. It measures 57x75 inches. The Story Behind This Type of Lace One of my sweet customers told me a story about this lace. I don't know if it's true or not but it sounded good. She said that this type of cloth was originally designed by fisherman's wives. This is the same technique that the fishermen would use to mend their nets back in the day. The women would ... morehelp out with that task. They incorporated the techniques into beautiful linens such as this one. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Spot removing recipe that works great! Get out a big pot. Boil enough water for your textile. Put the pot in your sink. Add some cascade dishwashing detergent and 2 or 3 scoops of oxy clean. Stir and dissolve. Add your textile. Stir. You can use spray and wash on spots before adding it to the water. It's hand embroidered and has tinserts of handmade Bobbin lace crosses. The color is very pale ecru, almost white. Measurement is 34 inches wide. It's not perfect. There are two spots with tiny holes which are shown in the last pictures. Also, two of the"crosses" have a couple of broken threads, the worse is also shown. 1880 Vtg Antique VICTORIAN HOMESPUN LACE off white CREAM Cotton Tablecloth 67x55 You are bidding on an antique cotton lace tablecloth. I believe it dates around 1880 but please look at the photo's and make your own call as to age. It's hand woven and hand tied. I have not washed it and there is a little bit of spotting you will need to soak out. I saw one loose thread on the outside edge corner and I took a close up of it. It's really pretty. It's cream. It measures 67x55 inches. The Story Behind This Type of Lace One of my sweet customers told me a story about this lace. I don't know if it's true or not but it sounded good. She said that this type of cloth was originally designed by fisherman's wives. This is the same technique that the fishermen would use to mend their nets back in the day. The women would help ... moreout with that task. They incorporated the techniques into beautiful linens such as this one. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Spot removal tips& tricks: Get out a big pot. Boil enough water for your textile. Put the pot in your sink. Add some powder cascade dishwashing detergent and 3 or more scoops of oxy clean. Add your textile. Stir. You can use spray and wash on spots before adding it to the water. Scrub in the spray and wash on stubborn spots. Let soak overnight or longer. Just keep checking it every day until the spots are gone. You will notice them getting lighter day by day. VERY LONG ANTIQUE/ VINTAGE ITALIAN LINEN TABLECLOTH WITH 6" DEEP LACE TRIM DESCRIPTION: A lovely antique/ vintage linen tablecloth with a 6" deep woven lace trim. The tablecloth is made primarily of a very finely woven. Pale ecru-colored linen. It is embellished with hand embroidery and very small cutwork squares filled with tiny decorative stitches. The cutwork decoration is primarily made of buttonhole stitches. The embroidery is done in a highly raised, curved style, executed in a very light taupe cotton thread. The elaborate, wide lace is highly detailed, and is formed from tightly woven threads, like a linen stitch. The tablecloth was part of a trousseau given to a woman by her Italian mother, who had brought it back from Italy for her prior to her wedding- the mother is now in a nursing home, and the daughter was thinning ... moredown herself, having moved into smaller housing. Up for auction is a magnificent antique hand made Battenburg Lace tablecloth measuring 65 inches in diameter. The color is white and the design is fabulous. Most of the repairs needed for this cloth are simple single stitches to put tiny pieces back into place. I have shown close up photos of some of the areas. I saw only two small areas over the entire tablecloth that need repair in the crocheted areas. Nothing that would need to be reconstructed only repairs. There is one noticeable stain. It is faint and the lightweight high quality Linen fabric is in good condition so it should be easy to remove. There are a few other tiny stains that are faint and barely visible located in the lace areas. A trully unique tablecloth 19 1/2" x 12" furniture decorative tablecloth with gold lace. Created by my grandmother in the early 1900's and used around the house by the family in Salonica Greece as furniture decoration in many creative ways. All artwork is 100% hand knitted. It has been stored for the last 20 years and handled with a lot of care. Cleaned and pressed regularly and I would like to sell it to someone who can appreciate it's value and history. Up for bid is Beautiful Vintage Crochet Table cloth or Bedspread that measures 78 by 62. It is clean and I don't see any stains. If there is any they are minor and probly could be washed out.
