It has never been cleaned, and I will leave that up to an expert. It has a few faint dusty marks and wrinkles from storage, but after a careful cleaning, it will be a museum quality item. You won't find many of these in this kind of perfect condition, pretty special for a silk shawl that is almost 100 years old! I was told these were made with the fabled forbidden'blind stitch' so named because the makers could go blind from doing too much of this fine close work. The fringe is pure creme colored. It appears to have dark areas in the photos. This is from the lighting, there is no darker color, just pure creme. All items I sell are guaranteed to be as described. Possibly Norwich. A very large colourful shawl with tassel trim around its open edges. Its in fair condition.The centre area has all the issues small areas of thinning. Some small areas of faint red where the dye used has bled into the ground, some small holes here and there, vague areas where the ground colour has slightly discoloured and finally a few old repairs. An Early British wool shawl in colourful stripe. Using 6 colours with predominately black ground. Some would describe this as a scarf as its length measures more than double the width. The construction is quite interesting. Its warp threads are cotton which over time has faded to light brown enabling me to give a more definitive date. Cotton was used because it was a strong thread and could bear the strain of being lifted to introduce the pattern of the horizontal threads. You can see areas where the cotton thread has come away and is exposed on the ... moreoutside. She is provincial.Probably made when shawl weaving was still worked as a cottage industry, before the advent of the more familiar paisley designs. In very good condition considering her age! She has some small holes. Maybe 12-15 in total these include tiny holes and a few that are a bit bigger(image 2)The largest which is near one of the shorter edges measures 1cm square. One of the colourful end tassels are missing. Still stunning and incredibly interesting for the textile connoisseur. This is a very pretty?Victorian Era cream silk shawl with lovely large hand embroidered flowers in one corner embellished with metal threads. It measures approx. 47" by 45" plus approx. 17" of hand knotted silk fringe. This lovely shawl is in extremely good condition with no holes or tears just a very small yellowish mark close to the middle and some of the metal threads are missing here and there although they are not very noticeable. I have made no attempt to launder the shawl. However, it doesn't have a bad odour. The package will need to be signed for and appropriate insurance is added in the shipping cost. ANTIQUE/VINTAGE CHINESE SILK PIANO SHAWL
This piece is on a cream colored heavy weight silk background with all-over beautifully colored. Hand embroidery of large and small flowers.The embroidery almost covers the whole shawl. It has a 48" x 50" embroidery area with 20" knotted fringe all around. This was found packed away in a trunk that had been sitting for many years so we are not sure of the age. Maybe from the 1920’s– 30’s era. It is in fair condition with the embroidery still in a bright and colorful condition and all intact. The fringe is slightly tangled and there is a small approximate 1” area where the silk has been stitched up. It also has stains here and there which we have tried to show an example of in the one photo. It needs to be cleaned. However, we don’t know how you do that with silk so whoever gets this can do the cleaning. Questions answered.

This shawl in this clean, unfaded, perfect condition is very rare. The shawl is very light and soft to the touch, made from pashmina and silk. Not all shawls are equal! This shawl has a remarkably wonderful array of jewel like colors. Woven very beautifully in the kani, tapestry technique, then pieced together to form a gorgeous multi-color design. You can see the mark of the weaver, embroidered on the side in photo 5. It has a beautiful fine fine weave, the soft texture from the lovely cashmere and silk blended yarn. I found this valuable hand woven fabric in a Swedish vintage store in Bulgaria. It is at least 19th century according to my knowledge and gut. It may be Persian. Very soft, may be wool or wool and silk. It has a number 16112 written with pretty digits with ink on a white cloth sewn onto one of the corners. Persian may be? Very large(will provide measurements later) with very rich colors and fabulous detail. At first one can not notice but when i looked carefully i found out there were quite a few holes at few areas. Some are more of a thinning of the fabric. I was not able to count them but later i can make an effort and ad up the info. The busy and colorful pattern makes them hard to see. Offered for auction today. Is this gorgeous antique lace veil, shawl, or mantilla. It appears to be a needle run embroidery on net type of lace, perhaps Tambour or Honiton. Not sure as this is not my area of expertise. It is a beautiful quality piece measuring about 89" long x 25" wide with a 9 1/2" opening slit halfway down. For the neck perhaps? I estimate that it dates from the late 1800's to early 1900's. The color is ecru or a light tea stained hue likely due to being in storage for many years. The condition is excellent except for several small stains, one larger and one very small. These could likely be removed with proper laundering. I will leave that up to you. EXQUISITE OLD SILK SHAWL Found in a local house estate is this beautiful old silk embroidered shawl. All I can say is"WOW" It is very large with a long fringe. I measured about 73" across including the knotted fringe and another 22" of tassle fringe. Look at the exquisite hand embroidery. This work of art took a lot of time and patience! Just alone hand knotting the 22" fringe. It is a masterpiece. It is so large that it was hard to get a good photograph. I layed it over my couch. The shawl does have a good amount of small holes on the outside black area. I took two photos of the main area of damage. I don't see any holes in the embroidered area and mostly the holes are small and do not show bad. The white on black embroidery steals the show. It is signed on the bottom corner. Antique Chinese Hand embroidered black fringed silk shawl golden Silk tread
Antique Chinese black silk shawl. The black velvet head/neckline cut out can be seen in the picture that I tried to ligthen a bit. I am not quite sure of the age. But from the small deterioration, I will date it between 1880 to 1920. The black silk vest has a large golden handembroidery in the front. And a smaller embroidery at the back. Long handmade fringes both sides. Golden silk. Lines this fabulous example of Antique Chinest textile art. The vest measure without the fringes: 52" long and 21" wide. The fringe at both ends are 12"long. The vest is still in very very good condition. Could even be used a a shawl. With tiny hole in front and two minor repair of the silk lining(see pic) Sold as it is.

It's made from bright blue tissue silk which is quite transparent& the decoration is in the form of bands of woven silk in wonderful. Vibrant colours. There's a silk fringe at each end. I believe this is early 19th century but I don't know where it was made. It's in very good condition. The only minor issue is some very slight shading to the blue silk in the very centre which I couldn't get to show up in the photos(looks like maybe it's been hung over something at some point& got dusty) I've shown pictures of the reverse too, so you can see the construction. You are buying an antique Victorian large blue pure silk shawl with very long hand knotted fringing which graduates in colour from pale blue to darker teal blue at the ends. The 20" deep fringe is to all four sides. It is in excellent condition with the exception of a tiny pin prick hole only visible when held to the light and some light marks. It has not been washed or cleaned however so these marks may disappear after a specialst clean. This is a lovely antique Chinese Canton Export hand embroidered ivory coloured silk piano shawl stole made for the European market in the late 19th century. Gorgeous! An unusual& unique silk stole with a knotted tassel fringe on three sides and a beautiful aqua silk lining that can be folded over and worn as a contrasting collar. As seen in photos or not. It seems to have been made by a skill embroidered and it is perhaps from the 1920's or 1930's I bought this in E bay a week ago and I am sad to sell it because it is larger than I expected. It measures 65" x 65" including the netting and the streamers are 15" in length. Which appear to be made of a silk/linen rather than the silky streamers that tangle so easily. It has gorgeous red Roses and some orange! This piano shawl would be also very attractive on a table or on a sofa It has a few stains hardly noticeable.
