Perfect for crafts and freshly laundered! Each block has hand appliqued red and green printed designs on red and white printed backgrounds. AMAZING quilting! The border has 7/8" rod quilting and 3/4" grid quilting is thoughout the entire quilt. Over the blocks there is 1/4" double rod quilting. Very thin cotton batting with a lot of cotton seed fragments. Expertly hand quilted at 9-10 stitches per inch. Hand bound. Measures 82" x 74" This is a cutter quilt. There is spotting. 2 SIDED Antique STAR & Patchwork Quilt BLOCK - Cutter Piece PC - 29 X 32" -
This lovely old quilt piece was cut from a quilt with some damaged areas. The quilt had a piece on the back that was just stitched on at the edges. When I opened it I found a very old quilt in side. It is a tied quilt. The star area was hand quilted just through the top layer of the back of the older quilt. The older quilt has very early tiny blue prints in it. Both were pieced by machine. It is in good condition except for splits in one block on the older side. It is clean, odor free and 29 by 32 inches. I am now listing many antique quilt and coverlet pieces and I am always happy to combine shipping.

Lushly quilted Indigo Blue & White FEATHERED STAR CUTTER antique quilt 8-9spi
Miss the old version of this page? everything on one long page. vfsce. Hat a beautifully made quilt this Feathered Star was. Alas. Its red print must have had a black or brown element that neatly disintegrated away over time, leaving heavily weakened fabric and exposing the batting so that it pilled and clumped where unprotected. Some 18 beautifully quilted open white blocks remain and there's still a strangely strong graphic appeal to the intact quilt as-is. so maybe you have the perfect next stage for its checkered life? I would imagine this dates to the last quarter of the 1800's. Size The quilt measures about 72 x 74 inches. The blocks are about 12 inches square and the tiny half-square triangles are only 3/4-inch square. Quilting The hand-quilting is lovely. With 8-9 little stitches to the inch. Counting on the top side of the ... morequilt only. Construction The blocks are tightly hand-pieced and I think the long seams are by hand as well. Backing. Binding& Batting The white backing is clean and bright but has about 8 blocks where damage on the front shows through as clusters of small through-holes on the reverse. The sweet little hand-applied indigo binding along two sides gives way to a machine-applied black gingham along the other two. But both bindings are heavily worn and frayed along the edges. Please note that some of the binding appears missing in the overall picture. But that's just my sloppy editing. It's there all the way around. The batting is super thin and even. Though I do find some flat spots and of course there are losses in the centers of the blocks where fabric has worn away. Condition The quilt's condition is strong and clean. But clearly very compromised thanks to that red wearing away and the resulting damage to batting. Although there's heavy wear and through-holes in the star blocks, I find very little damage to the beautifully quilted open white blocks. I only detect minor surface wear, snagging etc. on four of them. I note some minor staining which is pictured.

This is a darling antique 9-patch baby or child's quilt. It appears to have been machine-quilted. Although the quilt is clearly old and made from vintage fabrics. I tried to take some up-close photos of the quilting so the stitching is more visible. The binding appears to be hand-sewed. The front and back are both made from old feed sacks. This would make a great cutter quilt with its great baby colors and vintage fabrics. I had someone knowledgeable look at it and she believed that it does look hand-pieced. If you are curious about this. I would be glad to take additional photos. There are some minor condition issues. The most significant is an area shown in the second photo. Which has a combination of rust stains and tiny holes. Then I found a small tear, shown in the third photo, and then a section that looks scraped where some of ... morethe stitching has been severed and there are some tiny holes, shown in the fourth photo. The fifth and sixth photos show the backing. The backing does not appear to have any holes, but it does have some yellow discolorations, as the photo shows. I have not tried washing this quilt and those discolorations might be removable. There is a tiny strip of fading down the middle of the quilt and a few small areas where the stitching is coming loose. The remainder of the photos show some up-close detail of the fabrics and stitching. One of the photos shows some of the fading down the middle. The size of the quilt is 40 1/4" wide and 47 1/2" long. Antique vintage Nine Patch quilt patchwork cutter?
Vintage Nine Patch quilt. 66" x 81" in size. Hand quilted and hand pieced. The front has nine patch blocks in prints and solids. They are surrounded by sashings and posts in different colors. The backside is light blue and folds over to the front to make the binding. The backside has a torn place by one edge as the picture shows and a few other small tears. The batting is lumpy some here and there but the quilt lays good and flat. The front is knit fabric. The back is cotton. Bright and colorful.

An early 1900's quilt done with diagonal square blocks. It is machine pieced and machine quilted. It has a cotton batting and the backing fabric is the same white muslin. This is a cutter quilt that someone has taken a piece out of one end as shown in the pictures. It measures 60" x 70" and the area that has not been cut measures 40" on the 60" side and 43" on the 70" side. There is apx 80% of the size available to be used. Vintage Antique Dresden Plate Cutter/Craft Quilt I recently purchased this from a local estate sale. Wonderful 1930's cutter quilt. In green floral fabric as well as stripes in very pal shades of tan& blue. Each dresden plate square is 13.5" x 13.5" The most damage is along the bottom and left side(see photos) as well as a few other small ones. Also has a few repair spots(see photo) but most of the squares are salvageable. It has been washed& line dried. Hand stitched quilted and green border is machine stitched. Three very pretty pillows made from a beautiful antique quilt. The hand stitches on this quilt are very nice. I think you can see that in the photos. However. Too many worn spots mean the quilt can't be used. So I've made these pretty pillows to be used as decorations-on your bed or chair, or in a basket. Maybe in a baby's room? Each pillow is about 5" by 5" I take the extra time to box the corners, to give the pillow a nice finished shape. The pillows are stuffed with new fiberfill. This very old cutter butterfly appliqué quilt measures 74” by 60” It was a spur of the moment buy for me and I have never used it. The appliquéd butterflies come from old feed sacks and some butterflies are missing some of the black blanket border stitching. The batting is thin in several places. There are two stains and a small tear on the yellow back side. The edges are also frayed but it still is a lovely old quilt. Just right for a seaside cottage or a mountain cabin. Lot of 3 Antique Cutter Quilts-2 Full Size-1 Baby Quilt
This is a lot of three old quilts which have been packed away for a long time. They are as found-have not been washed or cleaned and they do need TLC. One is a small baby's size quilt-size 36"x54" It is worn and has been repaired somewhat. It is very interesting in that it appears that inside is another quilt and even perhaps this was cut down from a larger quilt many. Many years ago. It is machine stitched. This is the lighter colored one shown in the second photo. The quilt shown in the third photo which has a lot of red is size 65"x78" It is made of small squares with the larger part of the center being all reds, then mixed colors on the outer edges. It also needs repairing, and is machine stitched. The quilt shown in the fourth photo is mostly in blues, is machine stitched and measures 80"x78" It is done ... morein the 9-patch pattern. This 1800's abstract quilt piece was all hand pieced and quilted. It has lovely old prints and the backing is in excellent condition. It has a light spot that I have not tried to remove. The batting is soft lump free cotton and it is clean. Odor free and 11 by 43 inches.

A fantastic primitive pillow made from a beautiful antique quilt square. The old fabrics are beautiful. The horseshoe print on the red fabric is really fun. The hand stitches on this quilt are amazing. I think you can see that in the photos. However. Too many worn spots mean the quilt can't be used-the fabric on the plain squares setting these blocks was completely shattered. So I've made pillows to be used as decorations-on your bed or chair, or in a basket. The pillow is about 7" by 7" The corners are slightly boxed, to give the pillow a nice shape. The pillows are stuffed with new bamboo fiberfill. The pillow has a complementary antique/vintage button sewn in the middle. Antique Vintage Primitive CUTTER Quilt TOP/Block Panels c.1870-80 CIVIL WAR ERA or earlier. This was bought from a Lancaster County. Pennsylvania antique dealer in the 1980's. Size: The quilt top panel of 2 blocks is approx. 22 inches long by 12 inches wide and the accompanied 3 block panel is 35" long by 11" wide. The small Half-square triangles are 1.5" The large Half-square triangles are 11.5 by 8.5 and two have pink stripes. One is pink mini-circles. This pattern is difficult to piece and it is beautifully sewn by HAND. Color: The sashing is blue and white print. Pink lightning bolt print, and STRIPES. There are Mourning prints, Tan, Cadet Blue, Red prints and Shirtings in the patches. That is all hand stitched, and hand quilted, measuring 55" x 7 2" with each block measuring 10" x 10" This quilt is a cutter or repair quilt. Has several blocks with fabric deter ioration that shows the older quilt inside. Quilt is made from early cotton fabrics of calico. Shirting, ticking, a nd feed sacks. Backing is a very pretty blue with pink flowers flour sack fabric. This is a nice repairable quilt. Or can be re-purposed into some great primitive craft projects.
