Fine gossamer thin linen with beautiful embroidery and cutwork throughout(don't really know the correct terminology for this kind of work- please let me know! I believe the tablecloth is French or Swiss and I'm strongly leaning toward the latter because of the distinctive polka dot pattern on the flowers that I've seen on other Swiss pieces. For the most part it is very clean and crisp. Though there are two faintly stained areas. The one that you can see on the front of the tablecloth is undr 1" in size, the other is larger in area(see last two photos which show front and back) but again, when looking at the front of the tablecloth it can only be seen on the very closest scrutiny- just has a very faint yellowish tinge. Two seams needs to be restitched in small areas and there ... moreare two small holes of about 1/4" or less in diameter(happily they are on the side edge of the tablecloth, so not overly noticeable. The pillowcase is in excellent condition, with no marks, stains or damage, and is freshly laundered and snowy white. There is a deep, beautifully hand embroidered cutwork work border, and the pillow closes on the reverse with mother of pearl buttons and hand stitched buttonholes. Lot of 2 late C19th French store catalogues, table linen & knitted goods VGC
On offer a lot of 2 fantastic French store catalogues dating to the 1890's in very good/excellent condition. The lot comprises of 2 catalogues. The first a 26 page catalogue, dated 1896, shows a wide range of table linen, serviettes and monogram templates. The second. Thinner catalogue, 16 pages, dated 1892, is a sweet little thing showing knitted goods for children. This informative little catalogue shows a range of knitted goods including'liberty' type vests, knitted nappies and a range of knitted shawls for the mother. The catalogues are in very good/excellent condition. The catalogue of'Bonneterie Pour Enfants' has a deep crease across the top right hand corner apart from that both have survived so well considering one was printed in 1892 and the other 1895. Antique French pure linen sheet with handmade lace panel and GB monogram
Magnificent antique French pure linen sheet. Unused, with a lace panel and GB monogram I was delighted to discover this. Such a beautiful example of linen from the trousseau of a happy bride from here in the Auvergne. It features an ornate broad bobbin lace panel and has a centrally positioned G B monogram picked out in cream embroidery. The lace panel runs the full width of the bedsheet. On each side of the lace. On the linen itself is a line of'jours' the open ladderlike decoration typically found on fine French linens such as this. The sheet has never been used or washed: the colour is a natural ecru which gradually fades with washing. In the very centre of the sheet. Under the monogram on the row of'jours' a little creamy thread has detached itself and just needs to be reattached. Its condition is excellent. I have not ... morelaundered this sheet. It measures 85" by 116" or just over 7 feet by just under 10 feet( 212 cm by 290 cm) The wide lace panel measures 3 3/4 inches( 10cm) and begins 5 3/4 inches( 15 cm) from the edge. VINTAGE FRENCH TIME WORN TREASURES This is a fabulous. Heavy, fluid, antique French linen sheet. It has a centre seam and hand embroidered initials of E C. One on each outside edge of the sheet as per the first photograph. Each initial stands 2¾" by 2" and the white embroidery contrast beautifully with the straw colour of the linen. The sheet has superb draping qualities and. The centre seam is hand sewn and the hem edges machined. The two outside edges are selvedged. The weave of the fabric is fabulous and I held it up to the light for you to see it in the 3rd photograph. Unfortunately. French 18th Century Nicolas Poussin Painting Reproduction Oil on Linen
On July 9. 2011 this painting was brought to the Minneapolis Convention Center Antique Roadshow Event. Two appraisers reviewed this painting at that time. During 2012 I also had a local appraisal company(Appraisal Specialists Midwest) review the painting. In addition and during 2012 I had Bonham's Auctions review this painting along with Alan Fausel, painting specialist on Antiques Roadshow who was making the rounds with them during a Twin Cities home tour appraisal fair. I did not share with any of the people involved what the others may have concluded just to see what came up. In all three circumstances all the appraisers had the same independent conclusion. All agreed that this is a late 18th century(circa 1790-1810) reproduction of a Nicolas Poussin(1594-1695) masterpiece. They also agreed that this form of high quality reproduction ... morework was common to the time period and produced for wealthy tourists traveling Europe. Moses is distinctly represented in the work and there are similarities to this painting and other original Poussin's referencing Moses, however, I have yet to discover which original work this is a reproduction of. The painting is oil on linen and in exceptional condition. There is only a slight and very minimal amount of crazing. The piece looks to have been cleaned and re-varnished sometime within the last thirty years. The fame is attractive but it is uncertain if it is the original frame to the piece. On the reverse it seems clear that the painting was stabilized and strengthened within the frame probably at the time it was last cleaned. The frame is painted gesso on wood. There are a few very minor areas of gesso loss from moving over the years. A new cleaning would probably brighten the piece although it does not appear to be terribly dirty and the current varnish has not yellowed much and appears to be contemporary. This painting would fit nicely in a neo classical environment and could also make a grand statement in a contemporary setting. Additional photographs are available for

This sheet is unused. And I haven't laundered it, as it still has the traces of the embroiderer's tracing marks. I didn't want to wash these off without the next owner enjoying them first! Crunchy. Thick and heavy, this has some texture and slubs, but is smooth to the touch. The fabric is stamped with'Toile Metis Lin"Fleur Bleue" 35' It has a very deep 4.5" ladderwork hem. The deeper the hem the more wealthy the owner. 2.5" or 3" is the usual. This ladderwork is also very complicated with large crosses. Above the hem and across most of the width are beautifully embroidered large rambling rose ... morestems. The leaves and petals are decorated with tiny French knots. This is beautiful handiwork and attention to detail- there are even thorns along the stems! This handiwork is very experienced and expert! Do see the photo of the reverse of the stitches. Six antique french pure linen towels, huge red hand sewn AD monograms
A beautiful set of six excellent quality thick soft one hundred per cent pure linen antique towels. These were hand made well before 1900 and had been carefully stored to pass down as an heirloom. A huge AD red cross stitched hand sewn monogram in the centre of each towel. Each measures about 25" x 41" and the AD monogram just over 5½" x 2½" Hand stitched hand rolled hems. Thick top quality one hundred per cent pure natural linen. This was traditional towelling before the invention of terry towels. I have freshly washed and found neither wearing. Wonderful quality pure linen'fil' antique sheet. Fil is the finest and longest linen thread used for luxury sheeting. This sheet is finely woven. Beautifully crisp yet floppy and heavy. Fil sheets are so luxurious to sleep under. Cool, smooth and light. Extremely wide at 92" 132" long. There is an 11" hem decorated with hand sewn"oak" leaves. They are made of thick and tightly sewn raised satin stitch and"broderie appliqué" with embroidered sprays between the leaves. This is an unusual style of embroidery. Entirely hand sewn. Antique French Linen and Cotton Bed Sheet Patch Material White Curtain Fabric x2 Ref BR-FT This is a listing for TWO antique French bed sheets. They are very similar in fabric. Texture and colour- so perfect where a large amount of linen is required. Both made from smooth linen metis(an ancient blend of linen and cotton) This is crunchy stiff fabric. Both have a centre seam which shows that they were loomed on the narrow looms which were replaced in this part of France in 1908. So they are both over 100 years old. Sheet number 1 has a small red monogram WS. With each letter being on opposite sides of the sheet. It has a faint storage mark along one fold. Dimensions: 80" x 118" or 202cm x 300cm Sheet number 2 has small red monogram JR to the right of the centre seam. It also has a large patch 15" 39cm square in a creamy coloured ... morelinen. And the surrounding fabric is thinner around the patch. The centre is slightly discoloured which an OXYclean soak should lift, and there are also a couple of rust dots- do see the last photos Dimensions: 78" 198cm wide by 114" or 290cm long Perfect for drapes or projects! Slubby, nubby open weave ~ One of these sheets has TWO hand stitched center seams, so they run in each direction! The other just has one hand stitched center seam. Very wide soft linen metis dowry sheet. 94" wide and 133" long. Metis(meaning mixture in French) is a mixture of linen and cotton(the weft is made of linen and the warp of cotton) It began to be used in France as a cheaper alternative to pure linen for sheeting at the end of the 19th century. Because of the mixture of the two natural fibres these sheets are extremely hard wearing and were able to withstand vigorous washing. Deep row of beautiful jour de venice/ladder work the width of top hem and up the return. MS thickly hand sewn monogram in raised satin stitch measuring about 5.6" x 4" There are 2 areas of rust which I missed before washing. Rust is very easy to remove with rust remover. A pair of antique French pure white pure linen'fil' sheets. These sheets are part of a huge lot of trousseau/dowry sheets(last photo) which came from a wealthy family whose name is on some of the hems Extremely large(87/88" wide) with no central seam. Huge hand sewn MG monogram about 8½" x 4½" The monogram is expertly sewn raised satin stitch with large point de bourdon dots decorating the letters. Inside the surrounding decoration are tiny point de bourdon French dots. Pulled jour or ladder work about 6" deep across the top hem and along the return for 41" Minutely hand sewn bottom hem. Fil is the finest quality linen used for sheeting. It is crisp, cool, soft and supple and wonderful to sleep under. One sheet has 2 tiny"holes" please see the photograph of the"largest" and a ... morevery faint mark on the embroidery. It doesn't show up enough in the photos and will probably disappear with further washing. Freshly washed sun dried sheets. Ironed and ready to use. A small rust mark. ~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ A beautiful textile indeed! This wonderful antique hand-woven linen/ hemp sheet dates from the middle of the 1800's ~ it is a wonderful. Early textile with a gorgeous faded red to pink, hand stitched monogram in one corner MD ~ This sheet is a wonderful, heavy weight. The tone is so beautiful, it's a lovely pale cream tone, achieved through many years of use and love ~*~ LOVELY LOVELY weave, dense with beautiful homespun texture. There is a hand stitched center seam and each end has a hand stitched hem~ There are some small areas along the center seam( that runs the length in the middle) where the stitching has come unstitched so can either be re-stitched closed or left as is for a wonderfully primitive textile. sheet 8YF) MEASUREMENTS: This wonderful textile measures 87 inches wide by 75 inches ... morelong ~ ~ CONDITION: This textile is in as found. Unwashed condition with light storage dirt that will all wash beautifully. There is a storage mark near the center seam that should all wash beautifully ~ I would soak this lovely sheet for about 30 minutes with some Oxyclean and then wash on gentle with normal detergent and Oxyclean. The reason I suggest washing on gentle is to stop the center seam from unstiching further.
