The mother of pearl is very luminous. The condition is excellent with no chips. Cracks or other damage. It has a red ribbon cushion(intact and original) and is stuffed with emery powder. It measures 7/8" in diameter. Nerylla Taunton shows similar ones on p. 138 of her book Antique Needlework Tools. It would have been part of a workbox set of sewing tools. Emeries were used to sharpen and polish the steel needles of the age. Emery powder is a fine grit and the needles were pushed in and out the cushion several times. It also removed rust. MATERIAL AND TRIMS For auction is a wonderful lot of old doll dresser items. There is 1 strand of antique rococo work. 14 inches. It is pink and green and has gold ribbon work on the back. Probably French. 4 pieces of what could have been an old lace collar. All together they measure 32 inches. They are 2 inches wide. No holes or other issues. 1 roll of antique peachy gold silk thread on wooden spool. Spool is 2 inches high. 1 Small roll of about 3 or 4 yards of tiny antique looped lace trim on another wooden spool. Size is 1 1/2 inch. 1 Wonderful old small straw doll hat. Superb Antique French Silk Damask Woven Ribbon
One of the most beautiful textiles I have ever seen. Ribbon is woven in incredibly fine SILK threads. see last picture of back of ribbon) The detail is exquisitely fine. Ribbon has sewn selvedges. And is 4& 3/4th inches in width. Flowers are about 2 1/2 inches in diameter with many motifs of leaves.Buds,flowers and exotic flora. This listing in for three complete motifs which measures just under 18 inches. Or 1/2 yard of fabulous SILK ribbon. There is no damage. Seems to be little if any fading, and no shatter. Antique Bone Ring Ribbon Chatelaine Hi and Welcome This charming chatelaine dates back to the late 1800's or early 1900's and is likely to have been Shaker made. It's put together with pale blue. Silk ribbon and bone rings(there are 19 rings) woven together to make a chain. The silk ribbon is in fragile and shattering condition but all of the other parts of the set are in amazingly good shape. There's a small. Silk, 2 leaf needlebook and a tiny, strawberry emery made from the same silk with an embroidered top. There's also a pair of 2+5/8" needlework scissors, a 3" glove darner and a 4+1/2" sock darner that look like thy were never used. Each shade has been caged with passimenterie metallic lace and trimmed with tiny silk ribbon rosettes on all of the shapely wired edges. The thread strung beads vary in size and design and include teeny crystal too. All of the b eads are present. Most of the beads are etched with pretty motifs similar to flowers. One bead strand is a little longer than the others. It is fully intact but I have not tried to adjust its length. I will leave that to the buyer. The piece is entirely hand sewn; soft black velvet was used for the cover and the interior squares which hold the needles, the aged rosy salmon-colored interior fabric has a silky feel, but I don't believe it's silk; exterior edges are trimmed in silk ribbon which has deteriorated with age. One red without a label and the yellow which retains its original label that states there are 10 meters of ribbon. Each ribbon measures 1/8 inch wide. They each are pinned on their original Dresden paper covered cards. The cards measures approximately 5" inches long by 1 5/8 inches. None appear to have been used. No stains, no ragged edges and no fading. 1 LOT OF LIGHT BROWN THREAD, WHICH MAY BE SILK ALSO. The card reads: Soie d'Alger Fabrique ~ Crouy-en-Thelle. Antique Black Silk Fabric w/Ribbon Roses For French Fashion Doll Train or Pillow
I believe this might have been a pillow top at one time.just the size and shape of it makes me think that.but it is definitely a glorious combination of silk and chenille ribbonwork in pinks. Blues, greens, and golds depicting roses, forget-me-knots, daisies, leaves and other foliage. The entire black silk piece measures 22" square and there is no backing. The large pale pink central roses are 3.5" wide and the darker pink bottom rose is 2.75" so you can use these measurements for reference as to the size of the other flowers. There IS melting to the silk in the flowers, but it should withstand use as a pillow if you are not gonna SIT on it! LOL! I originally bought two of these and made one into a train for my French Fashion doll over her black silk skirt.turned out beautifully, but don't need TWO! It's very difficult to describe what this is.it's like the end of a bow. Or the tails of one.but it is GORGEOUS antique silk.two pieces connected by hooks and eyes at the top. Damask like embroidery of leaves of green and berries and the entire ribbon is ombre.don't know if this was intentional, or if time and sunlight has made it this way.the top is a pretty baby pink and it gradually fades down to a creamy pink at the bottom where antique Battenburg lace has been sewn on. Both pieces measure 14.5" long and are 4.25" wide.Spectacular antique turn-of-the-century ribbon for doll clothes or collecting or whatever? Excellent condition for being over 100 yrs old!

This auction is for a unique and beautiful antique Victorian era cut silk velvet trim on what appears to be some type of linen ground. It has very fine ribbing in its weave as can be seen on the underside and is of the utmost quality. It also has some fine silk fragments still attached from where it was removed from another textile. There is a fold-line in one area where it was at the corner of the fabric so it is in the shape of a"V" It is stunning in appearance and in very good condition. It is very difficult to find this sort of trim. Its shade is sort of a salmon rose shade. It is hard to describe since I have never really seen this color before. The cut velvet is very soft and very pliable with substance;it is not really thin or super thick. It is more suitable for upholstery projects. If shade is important. The black and brocade are one and not one sewn to the other. These are early pieces and would be great for making doll clothes. Finished top edge. Ends are cut raw. Photos#9 through 12 shows the backside of the brocade work. These are very nice pieces. Vintage ANTIQUE Silk RIBBON + Rayon Ribbons, Cotton Seam Binding - Trim
Am downsizing my collection of lace. Trims& sewing notions. This lot collection of ribbons is quite varied. First up is a gorgeous orange silk ribbon. 5/8" inches wide and 2 yards, 6 inches long. A few small pin holes, else in lovely condition. Soo soft. Scrumptious! Next. A double-faced pink/blue ribbon, also very soft and lovely. Shows a little wear& small pin holes, needs pressing. Just over 1 1/3 yards long and half an inch wide. There's a roll of beige silk taffeta seam binding; it has a couple yards on it I think. But is certainly for display only, as time has rendered it brittle. It is great for display or study, though. I like to put a range of these types of ribbons in a basket on a table or display cabinet. The tomato red/ gold metallic ribbon came to me wrapped on the roll of taffeta seam binding above. It's ... morein nice usable condition. The gold has tarnished so it's gold in some places and a darker color in others. About 1/4" inch wide. And just over a yard long. Not sure of the fabric content- likely rayon. I haven't done a burn test. Very soft. Very special. The pink seam binding is French though the white/blue label is blank. It's a loose-weave cotton and I think there are 3 yards. Though I haven't taken it apart to measure. Plenty there. OK. Now for the wide navy ribbon. The first(in center of photos) is super-soft silk. 6.5 inches wide, and about 2 feet, 2 inches(26 inches) in length. It came to me folded and I haven't ironed it so it needs a good pressing. Else in lovely condition. The second navy ribbon is a shiny taffetta. It has slubs like silk and it has condition issues; almost looks like how silk shatters but not quite. I think it is rayon. There are places where it looks like it's been stressed creating sort of holes where light shines through. It also needs pressing. I think that it could still be used for some types of projects. It's super-wide- 7.5 inches! and is 1 yard. 7 inches long(43 inches) The plaid/tartan is white. Red, yellow,

These ribbons are probably from the 1920's. Let me say straight out that they are not perfect.There are pin holes in some of the ribbon. I have taken photos of the damage. So you know what you will recieve. The small two toned blue one is the best perserved. It is 1/4 inch wide and is 2 yards long! The next blue one is wider at 1/2 inches wide. It is 21 1/2 inches long. Thirdly is the wonderful orange and blue 2 toned ribbon. It is 1/2 inch wide and 35 1/2 inches long. Ribbons are silk and metal. Ribbon flower Pansy and two silk flowers feature hand embroidered silk French knot centers. Ribbon flower bouquets are hand sewn using antique French ombe silk. Picot ombre and silk ruffled ribbons with antique stamen buds found at the Paris flea market. Each ribbon flower bouquet measures about 2 by 2 1/2 inches in diameter and they are in excellent condition. Auction is for the two shown. Newly sewn using antique ribbons and trims!

Exceptional Feminine Antique Lace & Silk Ribbon Apron MUSTC
A simply elegant early Victorian era lace& silk ribbon apron. Fashioned in a ecru silk ribbon constructed in a alternating pattern with exceptional lace inserts. Finished off with a wide blonde lace ruffle. Excellent condition. Found some scattered spots(nothing major) found 1" unstitched at both sides of the waistband(easy fix) Measures approx. 13" waistband to about 20" across the widest portion of the skirt, 26 1/2" long.
