Description: This is a masterfully constructed dress that is handsewn in a sturdy cotton twill trimmed with gorgeous delicate lace with a patterned silk( bodice. Neck and waist. The inside of the hem and the lining are edged in velvet. The bodice is boned and the closure is hook-and-eye. The pleated neck is trimmed with a self-ruffle and bow. The waist is also accented with a band of the same fabric and a bow in the back. Note the pleating details in the center back of the bodice and more in the skirt(to accommodate a bustle) The dress is a museum de-acquisition and proceeds will go to support that institution. Size: The waist of the bodice is 26" Across the back underarms measures 14" Doubled that would make the bust 28" but the style of this bodice allows for a few more inches in bust size. The length of the center back of the bodice is 16 1/2" The skirt waist measures 20" but as you can see in the photos. Someone had added a somewhat makeshift extension to that. The center front of the skirt is 40" long from the waist. Age: Period Original. Late 1800s. Condition Report: Very good but the dress does have a few issues. There is some torn lace(mostly at the edge of one sleeve) There are also some rust/age spots and a few tiny pinholes in the twill fabric. There is some tearing along the hem of the lining and the velvet bands along the interior hems is stained and has a few holes that are visible only on the inside of the dress. And have found some wonderful things for you to browse through. After a much needed, major clear out of my studio, it is now filling up fast with new auction finds. Amongst the treasures are several antique Victorian bedspreads, whitework tablecloths, Victorian children’s clothes, silk shawls, 19 th century wedding tiaras and veils. Valentines cards and much more. I am listing some of these this week, and will work through the boxes, laundering, inspecting, photographing and listing! Do keep looking… A wonderful fine lawn bedspread. With inserts of fine Valenciennes lace(trailing ribbons and bows)and hand embroidered sprays of flowers. It is freshly laundered and snowy white, with no marks or stains. The only damage I can spot is a tiny nibble out of one edge(5mm x 2mm) These fine lawn bedspreads look wonderful placed on top of a contrasting sheet on under-cover, as the lovely lace and embroidery is then shown to best advantage. I have shown it on a King size four poster bed- it measures 278cm x 221cm. A beautiful light and airy bedspread that would be perfect for a romantic boudoir! More photographs below. T he overall design is exquisite! The spread is in acceptable vintage condition with thread breakage noted along the perimeter or hemline. The center of the spread is in very good condition and there is no significant thread damage. The sham appears to be in very good condition with little or no thread breaks. The spread measures 82" wide and 80" long. The sham measures 78" x 23" The sham would make an outstanding table runner. There is also ample lace for a wonderful window treatment! Beautiful Vintage 1920's ecru French Tambour Net lace bedspread. Twin size. It has a large rose center with trailing vines. The center is in excellent condition except a few period size spots. The main condition issues I see are along the seams where they have some separation and some pinholes along the drops. I have tried to show these areas as accurately as possible. I believe these could be easily repaired. It does have one small stain along the bottom. I did hand wash this once when purchased, but did not try to spot treat the stain. There is one small repair at the bottom where the piece hangs down. Its about 2.5" long, I am not sure if thats the part that hangs at the end of the bed or if it goes under the pillow. There are a couple of other very tiny holes, I show one in photo#5, there is also another small hole about.5" in width. Overall in pretty good condition minus the repair. The pair of layover pillow shams with no backing measure 35-1/2" x 33-1/2" The background netting is machine-made net. Spread is in excellent unwashed condition with no repairs, 2 small stains, no odors, from a smoke free ... morehome, I did not see any breaks in the netting but I will say there must be a a few because of it's age. hard to find, because they must be so small. These stains will come out with its first washing and are storage stains from years of storage. They would enhance any bedroom gloriously. Vintage Antique Battenburg Lace Bedspread in a larger size of 95 inches wide x 120 inches long(241 cm) x(304.8 cm) This is a really nice and elegant design with a large center diamond of Battenburg lace with tapes forming ladderwork and edging the bottom of the spread. This is shown on a twin and it's too large for it. So full/ queen size should work for this, harder to find them in that size. In overall good condition with minor issues. As you can see from the pictures it displays well. There is a small light pink spot near the pillow return, I've not tried to treat it and it appears faint enough that it would come out. In 1 or 2 places there are a couple of very small tears to the crochet but these can easily be repaired or if left they cannot be noticed. From a very clean smoke free home. I believe it is 19th century. The outer linen panels depict different dragons. Eagles and fantastical beasts with a large heralic central panel that depicts a man or maybe the god Thor holding a Rune. I think it is a double bedspread. But please check the measurements with your bed as bed sizes have changed a little over time. It is in very good condition. There is a break in the lace where two narrow pieces are joined to make the pattern, these need a few stitches relaces. Also there is a pale pink mark on the top left corner, see last photo. There is filet lace edging on the two long ends. And plain cloth on the two shorter widths indicating to me this is a bedcover, however it makes a stunning tablecloth/ table cover as well. I will let the pictures do the talking, excellent, excellent hand work in this piece as you can see. Mixed handmade Italian laces to include Filet, Point De Venise with cherub angels and lions and the most fabulous whitework embroidery. The condition is excellent. I see one tiny break in the point de venise, a light water mark and a few miniscule tan dots, this is untreated Pieces like this are extremely hard to come by these days. Beautiful Vintage Battenburg Lace Net Coverlet Bedspread
Here’s a beautiful Battenburg Lace Coverlet in near perfect condition. It is shown on a queen size bed– my best guess is that it will look nicely on a full or a twin. The width of the coverlet is 84” I also measured between the outside edges of the tape and that measurement is 39 ½” wide. Lengthwise it is approximately 104” long(top edge to bottom of flounce) There are a few tiny net breaks in this spread– mostly on the right flounce near the middle and the top. right side of spread. Left side when looking at photos) Personally. I like the edges of this coverlet, they are scalloped and look so pretty. This coverlet is as I’ve found it and unwashed. It is not musty smelling. I don’t find any stains. I believe it will whiten up once it's washed. Vtg White Net and Filet Lace Bedspread to use as is or as cutter Sweet and simple. Made of a white netting with ruffles on 3 sides. Ruffle is done in three pieces to allow for bedposts. The net ruffle is finished off with 3" of lacis filet lace edging that is adorned with floral appliques and embroidery. Measures approx 62" x 88 1/2" The solid piece of netting that covers the top of mattress is 35" x 75" and the ruffle drop measures 13 1/2" per side. In good condition but not perfect. It is clean with no stains. There are 2 small holes on top portion about 20" from head edge of the bed and there is some unraveling at the open seams where the bedposts would be. These can be seen in the last three photos. Could be mended and used as bedspread or used as a cutter to make a curtain. Several boudoir pillows, ... moredoll dresses etc. I have not laundered this spread. I take pride in my vintage linens. This has lovely embroidery decorations throughout and an intricate central design.with 2 large dragons anchoring the center design.
