This antique paisley shawl has a black field with hand woven and hand embroidered paisley borders. One corner of the field has a signature embroidered in white. The borders reverse so that the shawl. When folded or flipped into a triangle, could be worn with both correct sides facing outward. This means that, when spread out, two side edges are always facing up and two face down. It measures 69x71.5" The condition is imperfect; the black field is damaged and has some very rough repairs. The borders are in very good but not perfect condition. Huge Antique 19th C Paisley Wool Shawl Throw Tablecloth,ink numbered, Persian?
I found this valuable hand woven fabric in a Swedish vintage store in Bulgaria. It is at least 19th century according to my knowledge and gut. It may be Persian. Very soft, may be wool or wool and silk. It has a number 16112 written with pretty digits with ink on a white cloth sewn onto one of the corners. Persian may be? Very large(will provide measurements later) with very rich colors and fabulous detail. At first one can not notice but when i looked carefully i found out there were quite a few holes at few areas. Some are more of a thinning of the fabric. I was not able to count them but later i can make an effort and ad up the info. The busy and colorful pattern makes them hard to see. The piece is in great used condition.I see perhaps 15 very minor spots from the dye that was used to color the paisley(pic. 8)These are quite minor and were done when the piece was made.Otherwise. I see no additional dye marks, stains, rips, tears, fading, signs of excessive use or abuse or damages of any kind on the piece. This is a pin cushion made of a woven leather shoe with a woven fabric upper section covering the ankle. I found other listings which identified this style as being from Yugoslavia. The opening on top has a pin cushion insert made of a paisley shawl remnant. It's been anchored into the shoe with stitches(not glue) About 4.75 inches long and 3.25 inches tall. Mid-Victorian machine done paisley with an interesting floral design. It measures 67" x 69" Has a white center and is fringed on two edges. There was a note attached which will be provided to the buyer. It refers to the shawl as the"Orchid Paislely Shawl" Not sure if these flowers are actually orchids, but it's an intriguing pattern. It's in fair condition, though not weak or splitting, there are a couple dozen holes scattered throughout, some wear along the edge, repairs to the white center. International bidders are welcome. Unusual C1860-70 Antique paisley shawl. White with florals, leaves, trees and other unusual motifs. Medium weight wool and silk blend. The shawl measures 136" by 64" As found. Is missing most of its hand tied fringe which was originally on two sides. Two corners of the shawl are quite faded(see last three photos) One corner also has a tear. This great looking Victorian paisley has an all over design in muted rust. Green, brown, with 4 brighter flowers in the corners and a green center with what looks like wheat reaching into the center of the green. It has narrow strips of fabric missing on one edge, fringe loss, and small scattered holes(photos) one about the size of a dime, the rest smaller from eraser head down. Up for sale is a vintage 100% wool Bombay Dyeing Pure Wool Radhika Shawl recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia.PA area. It is found in good used condition. There are a few minor pin holes in this piece. It is not perfect. Two of these areas are best seen in photos#9-10. It retains its original label. A very nice piece, with a few repairs, you'll have a very nice piece. Overall, it measures approximately 39" x 84" in size. A nice piece for repairs, projects or to wear. It measures 63" x 65" and is generally in good condition for age- there are a few tiny scattered mopth holes(none bigger than those shown in the close up photo and a small clean 3" cut in from one corner, all easily repaired I would say. The design is beautiful as shown and the quality superb in my opinion. Please see our other auctions for lots more unusual items and to combine postage. Here is a magnificent antique Paisley tapestry entirely hand-embroidered- soft cashmere wool with intense 100% natural dyes! I believe it is Indian or possibly Persian. Please note this is not a pieced Paisley shawl that is woven in sections on small looms. This is an ENTIRELY SINGLE-NEEDLE. HAND-EMBROIDERED textile made of two panels stitched together. It is in fantastic condition without any hole or repair- all original! The red background is also entirely handwoven and one panel has fringes. It is huge and measures 87 x 58 inches. Flat weave and not fussy. i dont know if meant as a shawl or as a tablecloth, but would be lovely for any use. there are a few fray holes, see pix. they are all in one area, the rest looks fine and i kept losing these holes, so i think they can be worked around.there are 2 sort of larger ones, and 2 small ones all near the same corner, and a few strands of fringe are missing.note the fringe, it is a tightly twisted cord type, not just yarn.measures about 62 x 62" and i believe the paisley design is somehow printed on
