This sweetie measures approximately 15 inches tall by about 11 inches across at the widest bottom part. It is plumped with new premium fiberfil and the back is from the backing of this same crazy quilt. The backing is a deep wine colored fabric. I believe taffeta, but maybe a heavier silk.just not sure. What makes this fabric so interesting is that it has white raised intertwining circles which appear to be painted or stenciled. This kitty proudly showcases some large white pond lilies with their green lily pads. The embroidery is detailed and lovely.there are even some gold chenille worked stamens. Primitive Folk Art BEAR Applique PILLOW made from ANTIQUE 1880 Log Cabin QUILT
Our primitive bear pillow is made from an antique circa 1880s Log Cabin quilt with wonderful fabrics and colors from that era. A soft-sculptured bear is appliqued to the pillow. The bear is made from multiple layers of plush felt. Giving it nice depth and dimension. He has a hand-stitched face. Button eyes, and one arm hinged with a button that is movable. This lovable bear is hugging a blue and cream homespun heart. The back of the pillow is made from a tan and burgundy homespun fabric. The pillow measures approximately 10" by 10" This charming pillow would look great displayed on a country bench or rocker. In a gathering basket, or as an accent piece for any room in your home. ANTIQUE PRINCE'S FEATHER APPLIQUE QUILT, LATE 1800'S
I think this wonderful old quilt is from the late 1800's. The prince's feather pattern was very popular in the 1800's(supposedly named after the feather prince charles wore in his cap) This quilt has 4 big appliques of red and tan feather that radiate out from a centeral yellow design. The red is turkey red and the tan is likely a fugitive green. Where the unstable old dye just faded away over the decades. Also the thread used on the tan feathers is green so that makes it even more likely that these plumes were once green. The quilt is all hand appliqued and hand quilted with nice small stitches. there is no lifting of any of the appliques. They are well stitched down, 8-9 spi on the hand quilting, the body of the quilt is hand quilted in 1" diamonds and the feather all have two rows of quilting down their centers. Also each ... moreapplique is hand quilted all around its interior. There are four large 30" feather blocks. Out of the 16 red feathers I found only two with very small pops and that is great for the old turkey red fabric as it frequently wears thin. The last photo shows the biggest worn area which is match head sized. The quilt is backed with white cotton and has a very thin cotton batting which is still nice and flat. The white binding is machined on and it is very worn all around the quilt. Especially on the crease. But there are not any holes or soiling so overall its in very good antique condition, no stains or obvious soiling. It measures 66" x 76" and is shown on a full bed.

Exceptional Mid 19th C. Red & Green Applique Quilt Top No Reserve
A wonderful mid 19th C. hand applique quilt top. Recently found in Pennsylvania. The colors& hand applique are absolutely incredible. Clearly the work of a talented seamstress. The applique work is done at 10-11 stitches per inch. The quilt blocks still retain quite vibrant coloration with only very slight fading. This is a very desirable pattern and the red and green are just so striking and in lovely condition for a 150 + year old quilt. I was fortunate to find another truly magnificent early red and green"1842-1845" hand pieced quilt top from the Philadelphia and New Jersy areas that has been signed that I will be listing in the next few days. It measures 95 x 73 inches. Hand quilted 7 stitches per inch. The edges are turned and hand sewn. Batting is thin. The applique is hand sewn. I noticed some small tears on front and on back black spotting. Light age spotting. I think the tears are something that snagged the quilt. It's a nice quilt to hang or use on a bed. CHERISH EACH DAY& ALL WILL BE OK This vintage quilt measures 78" by 92" With scalloped edges on all sides. Quarter sections are shown, to see the details better. There are peach, purple, yellow& pink water lilies, that were hand applied. The binding was hand sewn. The quilting is hand done at 5-8 spi, with some pencil lines seen. It has been washed& lays flat. There is some color run with the yellow. There are no other flaws seen, but there could be something small missed. There are no odors. It is made of silk. Brocade and velvet squares with heavy embroidery and appliques including Kate Greenway figures, swan, crosses, flowers, dogs and many others wonderful figures. It is a friendship quilt made by a circle of friends who have initialled and signed many of their quilt squares. Some of the signatures are dated 1898. Each quilt square is made of tiny shapes ... moreof materials sewn together into a bigger square. The quilt measures 60" x 60" It is a beautifully made quilt rich in colors and shapes. It is over a 100 years old and is not in good condition but quite worn in places. Silk fabric does not age well and some of the silk squares show fabric loss and splits. There are some stains on some of the squares. There are about 17 squares that show silk splitting or damage. The edge stitching is very worn in places and gone in others.The back of the quilt is is worn through in several places showing the batting. I have tried to photograph these areas of wear. A couple of the appliques are gone showing an outline of the figures on the material. I was told by a quilter that a lot of the damage could be repaired or replaced or that many of the squares could be used in another quilt. Regardless of its age wear, this is a fabulous Victorian quilt rich in design and history that I believe still displays well and would be well worth the restoration. With blue pinwheels and fleur de lis medallions. The border continues the fleur de lis design. It measures 81" x 73 1/2" It is densely hand quilted at 7-8 stitches per inch. Hand bound. Up for auction is a beautiful quilt block from the Shenandoah Valley Mountains. This quilt block is made on what I believe is muslin cream color fabric. The basket of flowers is made with cotton fabric. Tans. Greens, pinks, blues and yellow are the primary colors. The size is approximately 17" x 17" The age is unknown. The black stitching makes this design really"pop" It is ideal for a pillow or any of your repurposing projects. I do not see any stains or tears. A beautiful antique quilt. Not sure how old, put together on white and yellow fabric forming squares, with hand stitching and some needlework in the details of each Sue. We made pics of almost each block, maybe 3 or 4 are missing. then we also made several detailed, close-up photos of the Sunbonnet Sue that is on the right foreground corner on our general photo below, so you can see the details of the sewing and the needlework on this particular piece(but each Sue has the same needlework, so that you know) Each large block is 17" by 17" Give or take. Each Sue is 13" tall. The quilt is approximately 90" by 72" The bed used for the pics is a queen size that measures, give or take, 80" by 60" The quilt has some damage on the top. Some on the back. First 8 pictures were taken outside, last 5 inside, thus the color difference. Hand embroidered. Hand appliqued, hand quilted at 6 stitches per inch Size is 72" x 90"+/ Which should fit either a full or queen size bed. This is in good condition. But it does have small scattered stains, some wear on the edge, and some missing quilting stitches. The first two show in the pictures, but the missing stitches are hard to show. Beautiful applique work, some layered, with embroidered accents. It has clay brown urns and a matching border binding. What a beautiful Vintage quilt kit just in time for Christmas gift giving. This quilt will become a family heirloom and would make a gorgeous displayed during the Holiday. This is an vintage kit that has the air of the 1930's but I am guessing this kit was put out in the50.S 60's. There is no actual date on the package or inside the instructions. The quilt comes in it's original store packaging with the Stewart's Department Store Label. It sold for $17.60! There were several Stewart's Department stores from my research(Lower Manhattan and one in Baltimore, Maryland. but the store label looks much like the writing from the Louisville, Kentucky Store. I do not know if they were one ... morein the same or all different ownership. The package was opened and the kit is in pristine condition! The quilt and applique pieces are still in factory folded condition. The red and green binding are still folded and secured with factory ties. The directions are yellowed from time and some what wrinkly and the main picture does have a slight tear and is wrinkly. The quilt top measures 84"x100 suitable for Twin or Full beds. The quilt top is listed as white but it has turned ivory from time. There is blue printed design throughout the quilt top for quilting process. I am including all the floss colors listed with exception to#498 Dark Red. I could not find it at my local store. The DMC colors listed with the kit do not seem to match up with today's DMC colors Dark Green is now a Olive color green. So you may need to adjust the colors to your taste. WHYMSICAL VINTAGE ANTIQUE BUTTERFLY APPLIQUE CLOTH QUILT THROW C71 67” x 76” It is difficult to tell exactly what the intended use of this beautiful piece was. It has applique quilt squares with butterflies which are made with fabric which is from the 1920’s or earlier. It is rounded at one corner which is curious. It is otherwise squared off. This is probably a piece you will want to restore anyway since the peach colored binding has some spots and some separations. One end of the piece is oddly devoid of butterflies. All that being said. This is a fantastic piece. It is in good condition for its age, but has some age spotting. Cotton fibers. The maker hand dyed the ground using a very pale purple and red. Which matches the binding and the flowers. I'm not sure what process she used to dye it, but the colors seem to shimmer and ripple across the quilt, as you can see in the pictures. She also alternated the red and purple on the binding. The hand quilting is superbly done in flowers, leafy stems, cobwebs, and butterflies. All of the flowers are quilted and shadow quilted. This is truly a magnificent quilt made by a master quilter. UNUSED Antique Handmadee Melon Patch Quilt Reverse Applique Diamond Border
This unusual antique Melon Patch quilt appears to be an original design. I was unable to officially identify the pattern but the colors. Shapes and quilting lines suggest it to be a 1920s interpretation of a Melon Patch. I was told the fabrics date back to the late 1800s. The top is constructed of square blocks with each having a oval set in the diagonal within that was revealed by the technique of reverse applique. The blocks are arrange by connecting ovals with the exception of the bottom corner oval block which is intentionally left crooked and commonly referred to as a vanity block. The top is well constructed with nice tight meeting points. Finished with a nice diamond border. Two fabrics were used in the top. One being a aqua/teal eccentric print and the other a cream with miniscule orange dots. From a distance the orange dotted fabric ... morereads the color peach/apricot. The fabrics used are all 100% Cotton. The overall size is 69 X 82 inches. Each block measures 9" inches square. The cotton batting is a light summer weight and evenly distributed with no signs of shifting. The backing is unbleached cotton muslin and strong. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. Stitch count is 6 stitches per inch(counted top side only) The 1/2" inch full binding is hand applied. There is slight and no signs of wear. It is completely intact. CONDITION: This quilt is in excellent condition for its age. It has never been used or washed. It is free of rips. Tears and repairs. Fabrics are still pliable and show no signs of fading, thinning or weakness. Sizing is still intact. There is spotting. The biggest spot can be seen in the last photo. This spot looks to be dispersed dust from water contact. There are about 6 pea sized spots that are darker in random places over the top. They are not the darkest I have seen and they are hard to find. With a slight variation(four or five flower petals, instead of the usual 3) on Marie Webster's pattern, Gay Garden. It measures a generous 82" X 94" and is in EXCELLENT. UNUSED condition, with no spots or wear. The quilting is SUPERB. With quilting around and within the applique and in straight line, cable, and feathered wreath designs in the background, all at an even 9-10 stitches to the inch with faint pencil marks still visible in places. Pre Civil War Applique Antique Quilt, 1840's, Flower Berries Vine Pattern
This quilt is a storage find. We took this vintage applique quilt to a quilt historian in Dallas. Oregon. They believe this quilt to have been made in the 1840's. It is hand done with three rows of stitching. The"green" of the ivy/vines is totally faded away. Green fabric was not in existence and blue and yellow were mixed to make it. So there is some yellowing in the white fabric from the fading out of the original"green. The red and gold have some deterioration as shown in the pictures. It is very old. This wonderful quilt top is about 41"x 33" and has never been finished. It has some staining. But no offensive odors(just smells like clean laundry) I don't know why there is some small black pieces of fabric sewn in a couple areas on the back. You can't help but smile when you see this quilt! Its so cheeful that i could picture it on Beaver Cleaver's bed-its right out of the early 50's. All cotton hand appliqued flkowers and leaves. Triple borders of blue, green and yellow. Nicely hand quilted around the interior and exterior of each flower. 8spi. Each block is 6" square. backing is heavy muslin and it has a medium thick cotton batting. Its a fairly heavy quilt. In very good condition, no wear to the fabrics no stains on the top side. About 4 small spots on the backing, largest is hown in the last photo. Its 78" x 78" and its shown on a fullbed. About as cheery as it can get!

Beautiful Vintage Fancy Fan Applique Quilt Square Satins Lace
Breathtaking Estate Find- Fabulous Colors Too! Hand Sewn Vintage Fan Applique Piece The next question is- outside of a quilt piece. What was this made for? I don't know, if you do please pass it along. It would make a fine looking pillow top. Measures app 15" down each side- fabrics are satin and/or silk type and have a quality look to them. There are 2 small holes in the lace as seen in photo. Piece has been well done. After looking carefully it appears that the whole piece is handsewn with no machine. If a machine was used it was only to sew the top pieces together. But I still think it was by hand. The stiches look"almost" the same length but not quite. However done the work is superb. The backing is a stiffer chintz I think. The lace was also attached by hand and the ribbon as well. What got me to looking so close was ... morethe chenille edging/ piping. It is also sewn on by hand. That was the first thing I checked. Date? Can't say for sure. I would say probably 1920s- It was with my personal stash of vintage linens for craft projects. I put it away with many other favorites about 15 years ago. I bought it at an estate sale in Ava Mo. All of the textiles I bought at that sale were really old- teens-30's. What a memorable sale that was. The folks lived very simply there and"sort of" farmed- they were so far out and down in the holler and away from civilization I never expected such nice things. Large. Fantastic"Friendship Circle" Applique Quilt 95" x 92" The sun has such a pretty quilt Each night he goes to bed. It's made of lavendar& gold. With great long stripes of gold& red. And bordered by the softest tints Of all the shades of gray. It's put together by the sky. And quilted by the day. Laura Coates Reed This quilt is simply beautiful! The pattern is certainly unique with an all-over quilt pattern. This one is called Friendship Circle. Somewhat different from the Dresden Plate pattern. It's a large quilt measuring 95" x 92" so it should fit over just about any bed you have. Made from 100% cotton. The backing is light beige, off-white& bordered in a pretty green. This green is also pieced in the Friendship Circles. There are lots of pretty calicoes& colors ~ pinks& ... morepurples, oranges, red, blues, yellows& more. all pieced completely by hand. The applique work is reversed in the centers. and done very neatly. It's a weighty quilt with all of this fabric even though it has a thin all cotton batting. One thing that I like very much about this quilt is that the quilter added one more"border" to the head of the quilt. This will protect the quilt for years to come(see picture#12) The quilting is exceptional; and with unique designs to. The borders are quilted with a fleur de lis type design& the sashings are quilted in a braid& leaf design. Elaborate large tulips are quilted on bothe sides of the Friendship Circles in each of the corners as well as diagonal lines. Every piece of applique has been quilted inside in like shape& finally. The centers are quilted with a circle. Very neat stitching with 7 spi. You can still see the pencil trace lines. There are just a few stains. Ones that I believe were actually on the fabric before it was made. The quilt has never been laundered but is still nice& clean. And odor-free. My treasure-trove of memories for you Josephine Day Mickelson This pretty applique quilt is called"Dogwood Beauty" and it was made by Elsie Hughey of Sharon. Pa. Janurary 2, 1919- November 2, 1996) She embroidered he name in one of the corners. Elsie was an avid quilter& she was known around the Sharon& Farrell Pa. areas for beautiful crochet work as well. This quilt is really nice with light& darker pink dogwood blossoms, light brown branches vining like a trellis, and green leaves. The leaves' veins& tips of the blossoms have been embroidered. all on a crisp& clean white backing. Made from 100% cotton ... more~ a medium weight cotton batting. The quilt measures 83" x 68" is in excellent condition with only one very light stain that can barely be noticed(see picture#13, along the border) It's very nicely quilted too ~ diagonal lines outlining one another to form diamonds is quilted within the trellises& every piece of applique has been quilted around. Here is a vintage handmade& handquilted quilt! It is pink and white with Sunbonnet Sue blocks. The back is white. The light pink and white make a pretty background for the Sue blocks. The blocks have been hand appliqued and embroidered. Outlined in black straight stitches, lots of pretty details in each block. This beauty measures approx. 64" x 88" Each block measures 10 1/2" x 11 12" The quilt has 20 Sunbonnet Sue blocks total. Each'Sue' was worked in a different color. Lots of pretty colors. The prints in the'clothes' are sweet! There are pinks, blues, yellows/gold, red. Purples, greens and black. The quilt is in good shape. There are no holes, no rips, no tears, no loose stitches. Judging by the feedsack fabrics and pastel printed. I would estimate the blocks to be from the 1930's. The girls face left on 10 blocks and right on 10 blocks. The quilt blocks measure approximately 15" X 14 1/2" I have seen no holes or stains. The black buttonhole stitching is partially completed on one block and two have no buttonhole stitching. Some blocks need to have the band on the hat completed. These blocks would make an excellent addition to your collection. 1940's FLORAL APPLIQUE QUILT!
Descripti on: Gorgeous floral applique quil t! It has a wonderful scall oped bo rder that is done in a green fabric. This quilt was most likely done in the 1940's. This is a medium weight quilt& is all hand stitched at 7 nice straight stitches per inch. The stitching is beautiful con taining several types such as grid. Diagonal, feather& large clam shell. As see n in the pictures. There are chal k lines& dots done by the maker which follow the stitching pattern. Very nicely done! Condition: There is a large area in the ce nter portion of the quilt that looks like i t has yellowed or is stained. It covers about 60% of the middle where the large applique design is. I have taken several pictures in hopes you can see it. There are also a couple of the same sorts of yellowing or stains near the edge above this main area.
