No breaks, just a wonderful antique piece from an estate, freshly laundered and pressed. S&H is at the expense of the buyer. Antique French 18th c. Hand made needle Lace Founce
A rare example of the fine needlework made in the late 1700s. This antique flounce this Alencon-French fully hand made early needle lace has the fine light mesh featuring such beautiful floral design. Exceptional workmanship on this fine lace piece. It measures over 2 yards in length, 2 yards and 13" 85" and 2 3/4" wide. In very good antique condition for a lace over 200 years old. There are a few holes, one in the center of piece and one near the very edge. Also, it has been stitched together for one long continuous piece of lace and many years ago someone lovingly carefully attached it to this blue tissue. Which is somewhat fraying away in places, of course it does not affect the lace at all. A very fine piece of old. Rare and fine lace, French in origin, circa 1790 or perhaps a little before. Lovely pillow cover measuring a long 45" x 20" wide. Made of cotton cut work with needle lace medallions and figures. It closes in back with an overlap. It is trimmed in filet lace edging all around and is in very good vintage condition with one or two pulled brides. Long enough for two standard pillow inserts or one long to fit size. I buy vintage linens at local estate auctions and recently found some great items. Including some treasured relics from the past. This is what I call a beautiful ruin: it is a white linen tablecloth with very finely worked cutwork and embroidery that has some major flaws. This is a little hard to understand. So bear with me. It is a cloth for a round table that would fit a table of 30" diameter or so. The top part measures about 34" in diameter, and around this there are 8 rectangular pieces so that they would hang down in separate parts. These 8 rectangles measure about 7 1/2" long by 14" wide each, and each one is edged in 2" wide needle lace, as shown in the closeup. The tablecloth is made of white linen fabric that is still bouncy with lots of body. At the center of the cloth there is an initial W worked in cutwork, ... moreas shown; it is 2" high. Around this there are 8 inset ovals with more fine cutwork of 2 different designs that are surrounded by white-on-white embroidered leaves. This must have been a very fine tablecloth in its day. Unfortunately it has sustained damage over the years. One of the 8 edge rectangles has a major hole in it. As shown in closeup where I am pointing to it, and there are a few yellowed areas, also shown in closeup. One of the needle lace edges has some damage and unraveling. The top of the tablecloth is in pretty good shape, however, and so it could be used; you just need to understand that there is damage here. I am hoping a collector will see the beauty left in this. I am storing this in my smoke-free home. But I do have a cat who sheds copiously, so be aware if you have allergies. Please contact me for more information or photos. The 5 Picot/Crochet Hooks range from nearly 7" for the one with the ornate end to about 4 3/8" for the one with the tiny metal hook and smooth flat handle that is marked"M.E.F. 11 Pat. Aug. 17, 1915. The whiter of the"crochet" hooks is marked"BOYE_E_Same as 1 or 2 NON-INFLAMMABLE Pat 2024794 USA" The two lace bobbins measure about 4 1/4" including the beads and neither ... moreis marked. The needle case measures about 2 5/8" long and is threaded. There is a very small chip on the edge of the large part where the top attaches. I have tried to show it in one of the photos. Both bodkins are marked STERLING, the narrow one is engraved with a lovely design and they measure about 2 5/8" I did not clean them since some people prefer to keep the patina. There is filet lace edging on the two long ends. And plain cloth on the two shorter widths indicating to me this is a bedcover, however it makes a stunning tablecloth/ table cover as well. Featured for Auction we have an absolute Fabulous Circa 1910's to 1930's Handmade Antique Wedding Train. Whether your getting married or Collect Antique Textiles. This is one Gorgeous Piece! We are not Experts on such pieces, but did consult with an Expert on this piece to its Authenticity. She believes it is certainly Worthy of having a gown made to match! She said young women coming of age toured Europe as part of their Education, and purchased fine laces for their Wedding. She could have worn the cap with a Veil but chose to wear a train. She imagined the gown was a slender column of silk, perhaps ornamented with just a bit of the Beading. The style of cap is more for 1770s to 1860s, but generally worn by older women of the late 1800s. The lace was still wonderful and respected, but the style a bit old for a bride, perhaps it was ... morethe"something old" worn previously by a Relative, all three pieces appearing to be Handmade. This Beautiful piece measures 103" long by 32" at its widest point. 16.5" across at the its smallest. About 8 feet 6 inches long. All handmade on what we believe to be a medium cream silk or satin background. It is very soft and believe it to be silk. Lets start at the beginning of this piece. It has a triangular bodice front piece of what looks to be darker handmade Belgian Antique Point de Gaz Needlelace that measures appr. 16" long on both sides and 8" across at its widest. We can find no damage to the piece of lace. It then is accented with handsewn. What we believe to be mercury glass beadwork in gold and silver, pearls, and rhinestones, 18" across at its smallest width, 10" down in length, up to 21" across, at its widest.
