Antique Handmade Irish Crochet Blouse
This is a handmade Irish Crochet blouse which has been in my family for over 90 years. It has never been worn. But has been stored for all this time. It is in excellent condition- no rips. Tears, straggle threads or other concerns. It is quite small: It measures 16 inches across the chest. 16 1/2 inches from the back of the neck to the bottom of the flounce and the armhole opening is 3 1/2 inches. The 5 crochet flowers each have an extra 2 layers of crochet design. I believe it is Irish Crochet. There is a hand embroidered design on the fabric consisting of a flower in the center of a scroll with leaves. The neck/under collar band measures 11" x 5/8" From the band to the edge of the crochet lace is 4 1/2" does not include band) 2) The 2nd piece has open/cut work embroidery in the shape of a stem of clover. It's a very large piece from the Victorian Era. Shown with a yardstick in some pictures for scale. This Antique Irish Crochet Collar was from a museum collection. The piece is wearable with care and I find it most attractive with the closure in the front. snap closures) Condition is near excellent. Workmanship is excellent(please see magnified photos) with large raised design. There are no holes, tears or stains I can find. There is an overall light patina. It is untreated. This is a fabulous antique Irish crochet lace collar. It is from a local estate. The collar is very large. The outside circumference is almost 60" The inside circumference is 16" and it is 9" wide. The detail of the hand work is amazing. We were told by an expert that the lace is not tatted(which we were told) but Irish crochet with dimensional flowers and clovers with picot bar joinings. Who knew? The condition is excellent. There may be minor discoloration. But we really can't see any. There are no tears. It has been kept in perfect shape. It was acquired from an antique dealer in Dublin. Ireland on one of my trips as culinary historian for Irish America Magazine. At the time of purchase, it was yellowed with age, so I had it professionally cleaned by a restoration expert who wrapped it in acid free tissue in which it has been stored dust free for ten years. Antique irish crochet lace knit from pillow cases 5 pc lot dolls crafting trim
Nice collection of lace edging from early 1900's. The beige(last on 1st picture) was a top trim only and measures 16 x 4.5 inches. The 3rd picture is a knit that is very deminsional-looks like two layers. But only one measures 16 x 4 inches. The other 3 are full pillowcase trims. Two are 34 x 5 inches. One still attached by hand to pillowcase. These are each joined in a circle with a hand seam. Pillow case has lots of freckles. But lace is beautiful. The nest(1st in 2nd picture) is a smaller version of the two larger pieces- measures 39 x 3 inches. All of these pieces are in great condition and would be nice for crafts. Dolls or trim. VINTAGE LACE COLLAR & CUFFS IRISH CROCHET GLOVES
Lovely estate sale items. The gloves are hand crocheted and in excellent condition, on the small side, look about a size 6. The white lace collar and cuff pieces are very pretty. The collar measures 21 inches from middle to end, so about 42 inches in total length. It is 8 inches deep at the widest point. The cuff pieces measure 5 x 11 inches. Both the collar and cuffs have been used and show some signs of wear with a few broken threads, nothing major. All the items are very clean, no stains or odors.
